Cant view pictures.

The pictures that I downloaded to my mac will not open up when maximized. A huge exclamation mark pops up.
I was told with the upgrade to iLife 08 it would correct that.... It didn't. Now I have events with no pictures to automatically scroll through.
I have been unable to print any of these photos either.
Please help

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. That "!" indicates that the link in the iPhoto database file, Library6.iPhoto, to the original file has been broken. First launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options.
If that doesn't resurrect the library you'll have to to start over with a new library and import the Originals folder from the old library as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
Open the library package like this.
Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.
To make it easier to recover from similar database file damage in the future see the tip at the end of my signature.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. Describe the problem as fully as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

Phonebooth is in your home folder under pictures with Iphoto and Ichat. Deleting pigtures from phonebooth should not remove any from Iphoto library. Something else had to happen.

Nokia x2-00 cant view the pictures

So i had taken a lot of pictures with my phone. like 31? and i cant view 4 of my pictures.

ive transfered all my pictures to th iphoto library and then chose delete originals...now i got only ...FRAMES in my library but no pics...the frames have the same size of the pics and even the date and time...but i cant view the pics....this is really frustratin..can somebody help me..maybe i have to change any settings or get an update....

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Try rebuilding the database and thumbnails. Hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys and launch iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
If that fails, then you may have a corrupted database file. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file. If not, then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

hey Im having trouble transfering the videos that i recorded using my new ipod nano I turned the ipod to enable disk use and i can see where the movie is on the ipod and i can drag it onto my desktop , BUT when i try to view the video using quicktime the video looks all green and fuzzy and u can only hear the audio of the video but u dont see any picture other than green and fuzzy wierd on the quicktime screen???!??!?!??!?! i can view the videos fine using the ipod but i cant view them on my pc ??? can someone help me? and is anyone else having this problem??

Your topic is misleading. According to your post, you are not having issues viewing videos on your iPod. The problem is viewing the videos on your desktop using Quicktime. You will be better off posting in the QuickTime for Windows forum.

I cant view the gallery on my N73

I was having a problem with sending messages from my N73 and fixed it by installing the sms accelerator, but now I cant view my gallery. I get an error message saying "unable to execute file for security reasons" I read a solution for the same error message but on a different phone and that said to format the memory card, which I did but I still get the same error message. Any help would be appreciated.

No problem - once you've wiped the phone, PLEASE don't put any data back just yet - the intention is to see whether you can open the gallery with the phone in a factory reset state. Feel free to take a few new pictures just as a test so you have something in your gallery that you can view !
Once you've established whether you can use the gallery with the phone in a "as new" state, then you can put the SMS accelerator back onto the phone and then test again.
If that all works, then you can try restoring the data to your phone, but if the issue was to do with the data in some way then putting the data back will also put the problem back ... but then again it may not - the only way is to test. Hope that makes sense !

I take a picture, then go to view pictures and none of the pictures are there! Although when I take pics that little number in the left corner keeps going down. And it says they have saved. Why cant i find them?
I even turned the phone off then on again and that didnt work.
Not impressed! Ive had nothing but problems with this phone!
I do not have a memory card by the way.

We are a bunch of ordinary users just like you and we've all had frustrations of working-around a new device.
Try Menu > Media > Pictures > All Pictures
If you have an issue that previously would have been fixed on a different device by powering-off, instead remove the battery when powered-on and leave it out for a couple of minutes.
What problems have you had and the more you can explain the better the answer and hopefully the fix.
Its not vital to have a MC although as time goes by it might be with music etc etc.

i cant send pictures- when i connected it to my comp and reinstalled the software and use the old bbm i can send pictures but the minute i upgrade it to the new bbm i cant - pls done tel me to use the old bbm as i need the new version for caro , foursquare etc - pls resolve this - i think a lot of curve users are facing the same issue

If this happens on Windows systems it is because the Windows Photo Viewer and Live Photo Gallery may ignore the EXIF orientation of the photos. This data tells the viewer which way is up.

You can also avoid this problem by taking photos in landscape mode with the iPhone/iPad held with the Home button to the right. In portrait mode keep the Home button down.

What happens when you try to play the actual film ? And have you tried deleting them and (assuming that they're still in the store) redownloading them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page - or going into Edit > Preferences and on the Store tab ticking the 'show iTunes in the Cloud purchases' tick box so that they show in the My Movies part of your library with a cloud icon against it for redownloading) ?
(You can't store films in the cloud, whether they will show there for redownloading depends upon what country that you are in - and if you move countries or if the rights-holder removes them then you also won't be able to redownload them. Ideally you'd be taking a backup copy of all of your downloads, and not relying on being able to redownload them in the future.)
