Capturing Straight from Camera

I can't find the thread on this but, has anyone ever captured straight to FCP while filming? To cut down capture time?

Connect your camera to your Mac via Firewire. Most consumer cameras will require that you roll tape for this to work; pro cameras usually don't need to roll tape, but its a good backup.
Next, set FCP's Device Control to "Non-Controllable Device" and use Capture Now.

  • Capture live from camera

    Hi guys,
I was trying to capture some footage straight from camera but it won't let me do it when I pressed the capture now button. It kept on treating the log and capture as if its capturing from tape. It was asking for the camera to be turned into vtr mode. I have done this before but I can't remember what I've done differently to make it work.
Any suggestion will be greatly appreaciated.
    Thanks guys.

You might have done it before, but never with final cut pro... try using Quicktime for live capture.
James, you sure about that? I can capture live by setting the L&C window to a non-controllable device and hitting capture now. That way FCP is not looking for something like a VTR to control, it just accepts whatever signal is present on the FW bus.

  • Capturing images from camera and uploading to sharepoint library automatically.

    Hello Everyone,
My requirement is to capturing images from camera and uploading to sharepoint library automatically. No manual uploading will take place.
    Please suggest me.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
From your description, my understanding is that you want to capturing images from camera and uploading to sharepoint library automatically automatically upload images to SharePoint library.
You will save images in your local computer after capturing visitors’ image. You could develop a custom timer job to periodically get pictures from the local folder in your computer. Please refer to this article:

  • Capture stream from camera in JSF ADF

    Hello to everyone,
I have a strange question. Is there any solution if I want to capture stream from camera in my jspx page. I've searched in the net but unfortunately i haven't found anything.
So, if somebody knows how this problem could be implement I will be very grateful.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards

    Saykov,
Nothing really to do with jsp/jspx whatsoever. You see, jsp runs on the server. The camera is connected to the client. You would need some type of Java applet/ActiveX/flash object (e.g., something running on the client, where the camera is) to do this. I do know that Flash is able to connect to locally attached cameras (I have seen Flash-based web conferencing software that is able to stream presentations via a webcam)

  • Capture video straight from camera into macbook

    Hi,
Is there anyway of capturing video live straight from my camera into my white macbook running FCE 4 via firewire?
    Cheers
    Craig

Plug in the camera, make sure it's set to shoot in 48k, select the DV converter preset. Open the log and capture window you should see the live camera in the window. Press Now and it starts capturing.

  • Straight from camera

I have looked high and low, tried everything I know, but to no avail can I find how to record straight from the camera to final cut express. I can do it in iMovieHD, but when I go to capture in FCE and then click on "Now" it keeps telling me my camera needs to be set to VTR mode. I can capture what has already be recorded on tape, but not live. Don't tell me this is impossible and if so why can I do it with iMovieHD or iMovie08?
I don't want to take the time to capture then transfer, I should just be able to capture and edit.

    Hi(Bonjour)!
Try basic firewire NTSC (or PAL for Europe) in easy settings.
You can also use Quicktime Player PRO to record directly the signal from your camcorder through firewire and save the movie on your disk. Be sure to save in a codec supported by FCE HD.

  • Capture Directly From Camera

    Hi Lightroom experts
I've been using Nikon Capture so far to capture directly from my camera to my computer... can Lightroom also do this for me?
I've tried a lot of different things but so far I wasn't succesfull with it.
Can anybody help me out here?
    Thanks a million,
    Mark

I've used Capture exactly as Lee describes, it works fairly well.
My only gripe would be that it doesn't display the last image you captured, you have to move around with the cursor keys, which means walking back to the machine, which somewhat defeats the object...

  • Capturing directly from camera causes audio to go out-of-sync

I'm capturing directly from Canon XHA1 camera into FCP7 on my Macbook Pro (onto an external hard drive) via Firewire. I'm also recording to tape in the camera at the same time.
This works fine -- until I stop & start the tape while recording. This causes the audio to go out-of-sync with the video on the Macbook captured file. (I just let the computer keep capturing, while stopping & starting the tape in the camera.)
Is there a setting in FCP7 to alleviate this problem?

    YOur not alone.
I use a Sony Z5, and usually doesnt have a issue, but noticed recently that we are having some sync issues out of the blue.
We connect to a MacBookPro via firewire and capture live in FCP.
We have since changed cameras that records onto SD cards, and havent had a issue since. But just wanted to let you know, your not on your own!

  • Capturing footage from Camera using USB port

Quick question, that I need help with. I have final cut pro and I am trying to capture footage from a Sony Handy Cam. It only has the option to use a use connection to my mac.
In Final Cut pro, I can't figure out how to set it up to capture from the camera. If anyone can help and/or walk me through the process, that would be a great help.
    Thanks.

    Hi:
What kind of camere is it: DVD or hard drive?
If it's a DVD one you can use MPEG Streamclip to convert the MPEG2 files to an editable format like DV.

  • App to record screen and capture video from camera at the same time?

For the love of God, why is it 2013 (the age of YouTube and such), and I can't find an app that lets me record my hdv camera (canon hv30) AND the computer screen at the same time? I make piano tutorials on YouTube and my current workflow is so horrendous that I havent even made a video in almost a year. What should take 30 minutes, takes 5 hours. Here is my current shi**y workflow.
    1. I use iMovie Hd to capture hdv camera
    2. I use QuickTime X to capture the screen (i record a virtual keyboard display that lights up the keys I am playing)
    3. I have to use a DAW to record the piano sound and my voice since iMovie hd doesnt have the ability to record audio from a separate source than the camera, for some **** reason. (opening up and setting up all three programs takes about 8 minutes)
    4. I press "record" on all three programs as quickly as possible to make syncing easier. (my videos are about 7 minutes long, so this part takes about 7 minutes)
    5. After I record all 3 things, I export the video from iMovie into a friendlier format to edit in another video editor since iMovie doesmt have the ability to overlay the screencap over another video (****). (25 minutes)
    6. I render the audio I recorded in the DAW into a wave file. (another 10 minutes)
    7. I import the camera footage, the screen cap, and the audio file into the video editing program. (another 5-10 minutes)
    8. I sync the audio and video clips since they were recorded separately (2 minutes)
    9. I do all the edits (add intro, cut unwanted footage etc) (10 minutes)
    10. I re-render the footage into a final video file. (about 30 minutes)
This is fu*****g ridiculous. There is no ONE program that does everything I need, just diferrent programs that have a feature I need, but is missing another. For example, a program called "screen flow" let's me record the screen, a camera, and an external audio source all at once, but for some frisking reason, it doesmt support "hdv" cameras (basically anything that records HD). Then, there are programs that record HD, but can't record the screen at the same time. This is only an issue since I am on a Mac, since apparently there are countless of programs that can do all the things I need at once (so I don't have to resync, and render things like 3 times each) and many of them are even free (such as xsplit) but they only work in Windows. For the love of God why? It's 2013 for christs sakes. It shoudnt take me 5 hours to make a 7 minute video. If it wasmt for this turn-off, I would have thousands of piano tutorials on yourtube already.
So my question. Is there an app that fixes my workflow and allows me to do all the things I need in one program? If there isn't such a program, why isn't there one?

maybe you have outgrown or just need to look at the "pro" applications instead.

  • IMovie '11 capturing direct from camera crashed, need to recover file

I was caputuring direct from a camera via firewire and the drive got almost full, so iMove crashed.  I can find the capture file, a .mov, put it fails to open in quicktime or VLC.
Please help.  I've got over 2 hours of footage that I really need.
    Thanks,
    Jason

An alternative solution....for now. If you copy the files to your desktop or in any other folder you want them (it's temporary), you can still import them in iMovie. Just click Archive, Import, Movies and search for the folder you put your files in. I did it several times with success, that means no error! Now I can use my files and edit them in iMovie. You can delete the files on the desktop, since iMovie has copied the files into the iMovie library.
Another possibility is drag and drop the files from your desktop directly into an event. iMovie will copy the files into the library. For both options I am not sure if analysation for stability en recognising persons had been done while importing, but I guess you can do that later on.
Do not make the mistake of importing them in Aperture or iPhoto, drag and drop it an iMovie-event and delete it in Aperture/iPhoto... You will only hear the audiostream, you will see miniatures in iMovie, though your videostream is gone. That's how I lost the first video of my second daughter .
Until there's a good solution or update from Apple it works for me. I hope it does for you too!

  • Capture picture From camera

Hi....I want to capture the picture into a Blob column.I have a PC and a camera. What should I do.

    Hi,
There are a number of different ways to do this, and how you make the choice will depend on your application requirements.
If this is a 'once-only' requirement, and the database is on the same machine you're using to download the images from the camera, then you could save the image files on a local hard drive, create a database directory (SQL> CREATE DIRECTORY...), then load the images from the disk into BLOBs using the DBMS_LOB.LOADFROMFILE procedure.
For more information on LOBs, see Oracle Application Developer's Guide - Large Objects (LOBs), Oracle SQL Reference, and Oracle Supplied PL/SQL Packages and Types Reference.
If you need to repeat this this many times, with lots of images each time, then you might want to consider SQL*Loader. See the SQL*Loader documentation for more information on how to use SQL*Loader to load BLOBs.
If you want lots of user's to be able to do this from different PCs, or if the database is on a different machine than the PC with the photos, then you might want to consider writing a Java JDBC application or a web application to do this. Of course, the advantage of a web application is that it can be accessed using a browser from any system, whereas a Java app would have to be copied to each PC.
There's a feature called interMedia that ships with Oracle8i and Oracle9i that includes database object types with support for images (and audio and video). The interMedia ORDSYS.ORDImage type allows you to extract properties from images, and process images, for example, to create thumbnail images, and so on. There are two photo album demos that illustrate how to upload, process, and retrieve images stored using the interMedia ORDImage type: the interMedia Photo Album demo Servlet/JSPs demo and the interMedia Photo Album Demo for the PL/SQL Gateway. These demos are included with the Oracle9i database kit, and can be downloaded for Oracle8i from the interMedia samples page on OTN (Java Servlets/JSPs demo[url and [url=http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/products/intermedia/htdocs/imedia_plsqlgw_sample/imedia_plsqlgw_readme.htm]PL/SQL Gateway demo[url)]. You could easily adapt these examples to use simple BLOBs instead of the ORDImage type, although you wouldn't be able to process the images (unless you used the interMedia relational API). For more information about interMedia, see the [url=http://otn.oracle.com/products/intermedia/]interMedia page on OTN.
    Hope that helps.

  • Problems capturing footage from camera - please help!!

Hello. I have recently purchased Final Cut Express 4 to work with some footage shot last July, but am unable to capture it at all. My computer seems not to recognize my camera. I shot the footage on a Sony HDR-HC3E in HD DV. I have tried to connect the camera to my computer but it does not appear to recognize that anything has been connected to it at all. Is there something that I am missing?

The HC3 is an HDV camera that can shoot DV. Just to be clear, you shot in HDV not DV, is that correct?
Make sure you have the correct output from the camera. Make sure you have the correct settings in FE. Make sure you are daisy-chaining the camera through the drive.
Trash your preferences and launch the application. Does the application recognize the camera? If not do not launch the capture window. Check if system profiler recognizes the camera is attached and what camera it is.
