Caputre the signal strenght from the Wi-Fi Network Card

Hi all,
How can I develop a java program connecting computers in ad-hoc mode using 802.11?
I would also like to know how to capture the wifi signal strenght using java.
I have already searched in java.sun.com , but seems there is no package for these purposes.

I think what is happening, is that the "power-saving" setting on/in the iPad are such that the drivers for the wifi radio are either being disconnected (software based), or turned off (also software/driver based).
Apple's interest of eeking out as much battery life as possible supports this theory. Furthermore the fact that the radio signals seem to be intermittant and usually lower than say, an iPod, suggests this possibility even more. The amount of power provided (more power, less battery life) to the wifi radio is in direct relation to performance, therefore, my ideas may be valid.
BUT,
This however is just my guess as to why this is happening. I have not seen or been exposed to a specific set of events whilst using the iPad to come to solid conclusions as to when and why it does it.
I do however believe it can be solved with a driver/software update, but trust me , it will come at the expense of battery life. That said, I am ok with that. I want it tor work right. If that means losing an hour of usable time while connected to a wifi, so be it!

I have network card and wifi card in my notebook. I have updated udev, kernel, firefox etc. Since time the name of network card is changing. Sometimes lan is eth1 and wlan is eth0 and sometimes lan is eth0 and wlan is eth1.
It s problem for me. Becouse I dont use dhcp.
Any sugestions.

It seems that udev just ignores the custom rules and its potluck on whether it comes up with the right names or not. I have another custom rule file in there as well which changes various usb cameras and stick drives into more meaning full names other then sd?1, those rules seem to be ignored as well.

It seems that you have to use "==" in comparison operations. Did this used to be the case? I don't remember having to use them before and most examples I see use a "=" for both comparison and assignment. Did they change the rules syntax for the new version or maybe just correct an error that allowed "=" to work as "=="?

You didn't specify, but I'll presume you are not talking about any add-on card.
The necessary software packages for the onboard
broadcom BCM5703 gigabit (bge) circuitry are native to Solaris x86 (4/04 and newer).
Therefore they'll be on your OS installation CD's.
Just install the OS and rock-n-roll.

Weak signal reception from my new Airport Express card.

I had an Airport Express card installed in my spanking new G5 dual-core at the Apple store. I have a feeling it was installed incorrectly.
My Dell laptop (next to my Mac) picks up my Airport Express transmission just fine and shows the signal as very strong. My mac, however, shows a weak signal that will often fade away to nothing every hour or so. I've found that if I shake the tower, the signal will come back. I've moved the tower about the room, but with the same results.
I opened up the tower and the card appears to be installed correctly. I see the two antennae wires hooked up and and the card is in place.
Has anyone else had this type of problem?

How to trigger temperature acquisition (6024E) at the start of signal generation from NI5411?

I'd like to begin/end acquiring temperature data with the 6024E after the start/stop of the signal output from the 5411. What is the best way to accomplish this? is software or hardware triggering better?

Using a hardware trigger is definitely the more precise method. I would suggest that you consider using markers from the NI 5411 to trigger the NI 6024E. Information concerning this topic is available in the NI Signal Generators Help. Specifically, it is available in the following location:

I copied this from another thread. I made the important line bold. Make sure that WiFi is turned on if you want to use WiFi first.
After successfully connecting to a wireless network, the network and network settings are saved on your iPad. If wi-fi access is on, when returning within range of a wireless network you have successfully connected your iPad with, your iPad will automatically connect to the wireless network, or it should. If 3G access is on, when leaving the range of an available wi-fi network you have access to, it will switch to AT&T's cellular network automatically. If both are on, your iPad should switch between the two automatically and seamlessly. Your iPad will always connect to the fastest wireless connection available at the time as long both options are enabled. Between an available wi-fi network that you have access to and are in range of and AT&T's cellular network, it will or should be the wi-fi network.

There is no signal coming from the airport express

There is no signal coming from my airport express. The light is always amber in color. It would turn green but only for 1-2 seconds and then back to amber again for a long time. I'm pretty sure there is a signal problem from the airport express. What could be the solution in this problem?

Unfortunately, the solid amber light is likely a symptom that the Express has experienced an internal component failure.
Try a Factory Default Reset as follows to see if you can unlock the device.
Power down the Express for at least 15-20 minutes
Hold in the reset button and keep holding it in for another 10-12 seconds while you plug the Express back in to power
Release the reset button
If you have a slow, blinking amber light after 40-45 seconds, the Express may be OK. If the light stays solid amber after a several tries on the default reset, I'm afraid that it will need to be replaced.

Extending using a wireless connection always results in a performance compromise.
If the Express is going to extend using a wireless connection, then the Express will need to be located about half way between the AirPort Extreme and the general area where you need more wireless coverage. The more that you have line-of-sight between the Extreme and Express, the better the network will operate.
Remember......the Express can only "extend" the quality and signal speed that it receives, so it needs to be located where it can get a very good signal from the Extreme. Although Apple cleverly uses the term "extend", a more accurate term for the Express would be "repeater".
If the Express will extend by connecting to the Extreme using a permanent, wired Ethernet cable connection......highly recommended for best performance.....then the Express can be located exactly where you need more wireless coverage. There is no signal loss at all through the Ethernet cable, so the Express gets a full speed signal no matter where it might be located.

Laurel, MD 20723 has a very weak signal if any at all. I would really like to see VZW Network team to consider the area. It's the entire area and not just in the home. Laurel is where one of Verizon's main facilities is located and should be a great surrounding area to set a good example. The coverage map is not accurate. It shows service, but it really isn't covered. I know, because I live there. Verizon, please consider expanding your great service in this area. Thank you.

This didn't start happening, it has always been the case in this area. My neighbors and friends, that are also VZW customers, who have lived here longer have confirmed this as well. A Verizon Fios technicnan come to do repairs and could not get his 4G LTE tablet to access data to run diagnostics from my property. He had to drive down the street to get some minimal connectivity and sit there for 30 minutes to access the diagnostics screens. Inside my house, my voice signal ranges from roaming - 2 bars and no data (1x if I'm lucky). I am plagued with drooped calls, missed calls and missed SMS texts, which forced me to get home phone line. My wife has a work AT&T blackberry and it has good signal strength. Friends with Sprint and T-Mobile who come over experience same weak signals. Looks like AT&T is the clear winner in this area. Once my wife's contract is up, we will be switching. Hate to leave VZW but have no choice.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Have you redeemed your iTunes card to an account associated with an Apple ID?
Once you have your iPad associated with an Apple ID AND you have an account with a credit card associated with the same Apple ID AND you have some 'store credit' (from redeeming your iTunes card) then purchases use the store credit before they charge the credit card, so you should be ok!
Personally, I use 'store credit' as a way to monitor whether or not there have been any 'unauthorised' purchases because as soon as the store credit is zero, the security code from the credit card is needed for further purchases! It does mean that I have sometimes to top up store credit before making a purchase, but 'better safe than sorry'!
