CAR Radius client

Hi,
I am searching for a Cisco Switch with CAR compatible Radius client. This is for prepaid billing. Can anyone identify this switch

BBSM provides support for prepaid RADIUS user accounts, which are configured on the RADIUS server. For these accounts, after the end user is authenticated, a web page appears that shows how many minutes are left on the account. The user then clicks continue and is taken to the configured web portal. A disconnect window shows the number of minutes that remain until the session ends. At the end of the session, the window displays that the user is out of time, and the session terminates.

I had this problem before and it seemed to be related to the FDN being
assigned at the container level. Now (for some reason) it's come back
and the previous fix doesn't work.

When I use NTRADPING to query the RADIUS server, it times out. The
following is the debug output from RADIUS:

However, the client is configured in the DAS as a generic radius

This is a newly created DAS and Profile for test purposes. The user has

    Thanks

Just thought i woukld give an update on this, it appeared that on my
NW6.0 server (which holds the Certificate of Authority) when i service
packed it awhile back it didn't install all the files and so my nici
version was 2.0.2, so i reran the support pack update and everything
appears to work in conjunction with Radius running on my 6.5 server.
    Thanks for the suggestions though

  • UNKNOWN RADIUS CLIENT

    Hi all.
Have seen several posts on this topic, but none that fixes my problem. Had
a perfectly working Cisco Dial-up authenticating to Novell 5.1/BM3.7 radius.
Replaced (not upgraded) the server with a 6.5, sp2, and BM 3.8 sp2 and fp3a.
Using perfect logic, I figured I could simply load RADIUS on the new server
pointing to my existing DA. But no, going to the latest and greatest, once
    again breaks something.
Several posts point to TID 2969057 solving the problem, which of course is
no longer available. Another TID talks about rights in the Security
container, LPO, etc, but is very vague. Other TIDs talk about SDIDIAG, and
updating NMAS components, which I have done (SECUPD6A and NMSRV235.TGZ).
I'm ready to create the users on the Cisco box and remove RADIUS
altogether. I really hate to do that because when it works, it works great.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
Here is the rad debug log, noticed some "no such attribute" near the end
    when trying to login.

You need to upgrade your DAS object. When you installed BMAS 3.8, there
should have been a screen that prompted you to do this. You can do this
manually by loading RADMIG.NLM at the server console and following the
    on-screen instructions.
Since you're now running BMAS 3.8, use ConsoleOne to do your RADIUS
administration. You'll also need to create a login rule for your BMAS 3.8
DAS. TID 10078616 (linked below) tells you how to create a login rule for
    BMAS 3.8 (aka NMAS RADIUS).

    Hi all.
Have seen several posts on this topic, but none that fixes my problem. Had
a perfectly working Cisco Dial-up authenticating to Novell 5.1/BM3.7 radius.
Replaced (not upgraded) the server with a 6.5, sp2, and BM 3.8 sp2 and
    fp3a.

Your RADIUS server is getting a -1659 error from NMAS when it tries to read
the client table. You need to install the latest NMAS server patch. If
memory serves, this problem was fixed in NMAS 2.3.5.

  • Unknown Radius Client (Nw6.5 / BM3.8)

    Hi All
We recently built a test NW6.5 server, installed BM3.8 and setup radius,
    tested using radping and worked.
We then built the server into the live LAN and we get the error "Unknown
    Radius Client"
    Versions on server are:
    EDIR 87.3.0
    NICI 2.6.4
    NMAS 2.3.3
    Errors we get:
Radius screen : "Unknown Radius Client"
Radius debug screen : "CacheReadSecretForNASAddress failed, no such radius
    client (-822)
We are using the consoleone from the new server, created new objects and
    objects retain info
We did TID100911107 followed all instructions and still no change.
Just ran NMASMON and get the following log entry when running RADIUS
    REFRESHCACHE:
    GetLoginConfig: -672
    NMAS_GetLoginConfig: -672
    Any ideas/assistance will be appreciated

    Hello,
maybe the TID 10091107 from Novell will help.
    http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/se...?/10091107.htm
    fix
    1. RADIUS REFRESHCACHE- Forces radius to re-read the Dialup access
    system object.
    2. Verify the SDI (Security Domain Infrastructure) is synchronized and
all servers have the same set of SDI keys.
    a. Follow TID - 10088626 Using SDIDiag to gather specific SDKey
information from servers to create the LIST.TXT, SERVER.TXT and
    PROCESS.TXT.
Review the PROCESS.TXT file and verify all servers have the exact same
    keys.
    Keys must be sychronized.
    3. Apply the latest NMAS public patch available at Security Updates at
http://support.novell.com (when this solution was written, the latest
    public
release that resolved this issue was NMAS 2.3.4 (nmsrv234.tgz)
    Kind regards from Germany

  • Unknown RADIUS client errors

We are running Novell Netware 6.0 SP4 and eDirectory 8.6.2. We have set up
iChain 2.3 with the included NMAS and RADIUS services. iChain with NDS
password authentication works properly. Now we are trying to add token
authentication, and it is not working. The RADIUS screen keeps showing
"Access Request Dropped", "<ip address>, <user>, Unknown RADIUS client".
I have turned on debug mode, refreshed the cache, tried logging in again,
and checked the debug file. The error I am getting I have not seen
referenced in previous newsgroup posts. The important section shows this:
    Context Lookup List set to:
    [2004-08-05 09:42:21 AM] 1) DEN.RJL
    [2004-08-05 09:42:21 AM] 2) RJL

It looks like it is not reading the client table properly, but I don't know
how to fix it. We have recreated the DAS object, removed and re-added the
client address in the DAS object, etc.
If anyone has any ideas on what else we can try, I would really appreciate
    it. Thanks.

You should always administer NMAS from a Windows workstation, Unfortunately
you can't administer NMAS, and therefore NMAS RADIUS, on any other platform
right now. The NMAS ConsoleOne snapins make native calls to nmaswrap.dll,
and this module is only available on Windows.
You can map a drive to your server from a Windows box and run ConsoleOne
from the mapped drive to see if this works. However, for best results with
RADIUS, you will want to install ConsoleOne locally on a Windows box. When
run over a mapped drive, the RADIUS snapin can take a very long time (5-15
minutes in my experience) to load the RADIUS attribute file.
You mentioned that you've been running ConsoleOne from a workstation, so I
assume that you've tried setting the DAS client information from a Windows
box already. If you have not tried this yet, then please do so.
The -601 you're getting from NMAS_GetLoginConfig is interesting.
Unfortunately this method is implemented in NMAS.NLM, which is maintained by
a different team, so I'm not sure how much more help I can provide with
this. However, I do have a few ideas:
    1) When RADIUS calls NMAS_GetLoginConfig, its asking NMAS to read encrypted
data that is stored in attributes on the DAS object. If I remember
correctly, NMAS.NLM cannot go off the box when it does this. Does your
RADIUS server have a local replica that contains the DAS object? If it does
not, then this might be your problem.
    2) If putting the DAS in a local replica does not work, then a DS Trace with
the NMAS and Resolve Name options turned on may provide some insight. (I
can't remember if NMAS is a DS Trace option in eDir 8.6 - if you don't see
the NMAS option, then don't worry about it.) Start DSTrace while RADIUS is
running and issue a "radius refreshcache" command like you did before.
If neither of the above suggestions is helpful, then tell the support
engineer you're working with that the -601 error is coming from
NMAS_GetLoginConfig and which version of NMAS.NLM you have. Please also tell
the support engineer that you've been working with me (Scott Kiester) on
this, and that he/she may call me they have any questions.
    >>> Stephen Taylor<[email protected]> 08/06/04 12:38 PM >>>
    Hi Scott,
Thank you for the follow-up. Based on suggestions from some of your other
posts, I had already run ConsoleOne with the debug window, and I did not
    see
any errors when I added a DAS client. I ran the SDIDiag utility and went
through the three recommended steps. There were no errors, and the tree key
looked the same on all our servers. I did not know about the NMAS log file.
I followed your directions, and this is all that the log file shows:
0: Screen and file output started at Fri Aug 6 10:49:53 2004
    GetLoginConfig: -601
    NMAS_GetLoginConfig: -601
Based on a couple of other posts, I decided to try deleting the DAS object
and recreating it using ConsoleOne from the NMAS server instead of from a
workstation. It asks me for the password when creating the object, then
immediately abends the serve and locks up ConsoleOne. This has happened
three times now, even after reloading the snap-ins. I don't know what to
    try
next. We have run dsrepair and it runs cleanly.

  • CAR radius attributes

    hello,
We have a Cisco Access Registrar and it work great with an cisco asn-gateway. we have the CAR server give out an sal profile when it authenticates a device (the authentication is done using domain name on the device). the sla profile is matched with the QOS info on the asn-gateway router and thus the service flow is created. We are trying out another Vendor called Wichorus for their asn-gateway. under their config the router is expecting back couple of radius attributes to setup the service flow with the proper qos info. These are the values is expecting back:
    service-data-flow-id
    service-profile-id
I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with different radius attributes on the CAR. This is what Wichorus has configured on their AAA server for a certain profile:
             Wimax-PFD := 0x01,
             Wimax-PDFID := 1,
             Wimax-SDFID := 1,
             Wimax-SProfileID := 1
    CAR ver  - 4.2.2
    Thanks.

You mean add your own custom attribute?

Im 99% sure you cant do this because
    1) what would the router do with it?
    2) Most IETF no's are used already
    3) You cant add new Cisco VSAs
    4) A Cisco device wont like you adding non Cisco VSAs

  • 1240AG WPA2 and PSK for non radius clients

does this device support this options?
We want to move to WPA2 enterprise and use our radius server (windows IAS), but we want to hand out a key to non domain computers. We have production machines that arent on the domain for various reasons.
2nd question, does the AP allow for creating a 2nd "Guest" wireless for visitors?
    thanks!

    Hi Shayne,
The Cisco 1240 supports WPA2/AES.Yes, the can provide different security policys via different SSIDs. For example:
    SSID#1 - Corporate - WPA2/AES 802.1X
    SSID#2 - CorporatePSK - WPA2/AES PSK
    SSID#3 - Guest
There is a good deal of configuration to make this happen. But yes this is supported..
Here is a link how to configure SSIDs on a autonomous access points

  • Using Lion Server Radius for authenticating "other" clients

Hi I've been trying to get the Radius service in Lion Server to authenticate users of my SQUID web proxy. I have followed the squid wiki's instructions to configure the squid server as a radius client and pass authentication requests to the Lion Server Radius (I hope). However I'm trying to configure and test the Lion Server Radius. As Lions Server Admin GUI for radius only lets to add Airport Basestations, I've been trying to dig around for what underlying config files to edit.  I have tried 2 methods of adding the client details to radius:
    1. By editing the /etc/raddb/client.conf, and adding/changing (for example):
    client localhost {
         secret     = mysecretpassphrase
    client 192.168.0.0/24 {
         secret              = mysecretpassphrase
         shortname       = local-lan-clients
and restarting squid. Nothing seems to get mentioned in the radius log file! So I'm not completely convinced that the Lion Radius took any notice of this!
    2. Instead of above, added the same client info using radiusconfig:
    $ sudo radiusconfig -addclient 192.168.0.0/24 local-lan-clients other <return>
    - then it prompts for the secret. With this command I notice the entry/event is recognised in the radius log file, and also looks like some SQL activity. If I dont specify "other" for the nas-type, it defaults to "Aiport Base Station" or similar.
OK, so forgetting about SQUID for a minute, I can't even get that far as I'm just trying to test the config using the "radclient" utility from the Lion Server and the squid server:
$ sudo radclient localhost auth mysecretpassphrase <return>
and... no response, just hangs, nothing in radius log either.
The Lion Firewall allows TCP and UDP requests into the Radius authentication port.
Any ideas what else I need to do? Scratching my head, I'm wondering if it is anything to do with SSL? e.g. do I need to make the authentication using the self-signed certificate that Open Directory has? I presume any Airport Base Stations added to radius will use this certificate to establish a secure connection for authentication.

The RADIUS server in OS X Server is a standard FreeRADIUS implementation with Apple's own custom GUI frontend for configuring it and which only allows adding AirPort base-stations. In Mountain Lion Server it is even limited to a specific configuration for the AirPort base-station.
However if you follow the normal command-line instructions and steps for configuring FreeRADIUS then it will be possible to add any type of RADIUS client.
While as far as I can see by manually configuring the FreeRADIUS server in OS X Server should enable you to do what you want, most people chose to configure Squid to use either a PAM or the LDAP modules for Squid to in this case authenticate directly to Open Directory (which is of course based on LDAP).
I myself have used a PAM in the past with Squid to successfully configure Squid to authenticate users via Open Directory. I was even able to specific an Open Directory group and only allow members of that group access via the Squid Proxy Server. I then went a bit OTT and set up another open-source tool (which was discontinued and I had to fix to get working) to process the Squid logs and store them in MySQL, and then setup FileMaker Pro to connect to the MySQL database via ODBC to allow producing reports.
Unfortunately the AFP458 website had a major redesign a while ago and many previous technical articles on it are now hard to find. I had used two articles on that site to guide me through setting up Squid and the PAM on a Mac server. I believe the two articles I used are the ones listed below.

  • Cisco NAC: How to configure the NGS as Radius Server & NAC Manager as Raidus Clients !!!

    Hi,
Kindly let me know that how to configure the NGS (Version 2.0.3) as a Radius Server while NAC Manager (Version 4.8.2) as a Radius Client...
    Moreover,
    1) I want to Create the two User Roles (Guest1 & Guest2) on NGS.
    2) When sponsor will create the users, user will belong to either of roles.
    3) NAC Manager will have an authentication provider (Radius) with the default Role "Deny Role" but users belongs to "User Role = or Group = Guest1" will fall into "Guest1" Role while User Role = or Group = Guest2" will fall into "Guest2" Role.
I need an assistance to configure this scenario....
    Please advise me.

    Hi,
    Any idea or suggestion...

    ##### Multiple BSSID support ##################################################
    # Above configuration is using the default interface (wlan#, or multi-SSID VLAN
    # interfaces). Other BSSIDs can be added by using separator 'bss' with
    # default interface name to be allocated for the data packets of the new BSS.
    # hostapd will generate BSSID mask based on the BSSIDs that are
    # configured. hostapd will verify that dev_addr & MASK == dev_addr. If this is
    # not the case, the MAC address of the radio must be changed before starting
    # hostapd (ifconfig wlan0 hw ether <MAC addr>). If a BSSID is configured for
    # every secondary BSS, this limitation is not applied at hostapd and other
    # masks may be used if the driver supports them (e.g., swap the locally
    # administered bit)
    # BSSIDs are assigned in order to each BSS, unless an explicit BSSID is
    # specified using the 'bssid' parameter.
    # If an explicit BSSID is specified, it must be chosen such that it:
    # - results in a valid MASK that covers it and the dev_addr
    # - is not the same as the MAC address of the radio
    # - is not the same as any other explicitly specified BSSID
    # Please note that hostapd uses some of the values configured for the first BSS
    # as the defaults for the following BSSes. However, it is recommended that all
    # BSSes include explicit configuration of all relevant configuration items.
    #bss=wlan0_0
    #ssid=test2
    # most of the above items can be used here (apart from radio interface specific
    # items, like channel)
    #bss=wlan0_1
    #bssid=00:13:10:95:fe:0b
I tried to access this network through the other device - same problem. What's the problem? Thanks in advance.

Retracting the question...no one seems to know.

  • Windows Radius / NPS not working with mac book pro 10.9.4 wired

    Hi,
I'm trying to get my Radius windows server 2012 working with the correct setting for using 802.1x wired connection for the mac book pro. The only issue I'm having is there is not much setting in the mac book pro. I'm not sure what need to setup on the sever to make it connect correctly and assign it to the correct vlan when it's authenticated.
Here are some screen shoots for my mac book pro
So I've got it up to a point where I have this issue and here is my screen shots setting:
So the above are my windows 2012 screen shot settings.
On the mac book pro, I'm getting a prompted about adding certificate and I've added that into the laptop and then I need to put the username and password information. I put the following:
    [email protected] and the password.
I'm current working with someone at HP on the switch settings, everything looks good.
    I know the following:
    1. Wireshark: shows server is getting request from the switch but it's not accepting them here are my logs on the NPS:

Again I don't know what's the correct setting the default 802.1x for mac book pro, but it should correct.
I'm also not sure what the internal error message is regarding about. The switch should automatically put me to vlan 7
Can you some please help out what the correct authentication method for mac 10.9.4.

  • ACS 5.3.0.40 with Bluecoat Packetshaper via Radius Auth using PAP/CHAP

    Hi,
We have a strange issue may be an known issue. We have the ACS 5.3.0.40 with Bluecoat Packetshaper (Packeteer) as the Radius Client and tried with PAP as well as CHAP with the suggested VSA. But once we try to authenticate with GUI in the PS end we get authentication failed. i.e its says invalid password but in the ACS end we get it as the Auth success log. We are not able to login to the PS as well. Anyone have any idea what is the issue anything to be done with the patch upgrade or any issue with the packetshaper??????
below is the logs in ACS server.

    Hi,
Do you have any special characters in the password? I would see if you can create an internal user in ACS and use a basic password (like cisco123) and see if the authentication will succeed. I have seen with some GUI based products that some special characters can cause some headaches.
    thanks,
