Cascade function using VB API

asked this in Front-End Tools but getting no response. This looks like the place for this in any case.Can the EssVCascade functionality be implemented with the VB API? If not, what is the way to get this functionality from a VB API program, doing whatever is necessary?

The Java Function Activity Agent is not certified for Oracle Workflow embedded in Oracle Applications. Installing standalone workflow should be a lot easier than what you have found, although it looks like you did hit a Pentium 4 issue with the Oracle Universal Installer. I suggest you contact Oracle Support or Oracle Consulting for assistance.

PrintScreen Functionality using Java Print Api(without Robot)

I have an issue to discuss,can any of you tell me that is it possible to take the screen shot of screen(not printing on paper) in java using Print Api .
I have done it with robot but i want to do it without using Robot.

Need help in developing a webdynpro application using UWL API

I have multiple bpel in my composite. I checked in ci_indexes table and it shows the instance number of the bpel process. But the em console is showing only the composite instance number. when I opened composite instance, I could see all the bpel process with instance number in the audit trail. How can I find the the actual composite instance number that I should search for in the em console ???

How to get permission of a sharepoint list for a user using REST api

I have a requirement where i need to check the access permission of a user against a List or Library only using REST api from my remote salesforce app. [I already have access token and I am able to view list, add item etc..]
Say for example, I have to send the list name and user name, and get the result as Read, Write, Contribute(Manage), None. I need to display what permission does that user have for that List.

Using HRMS APIs in Forms 6i

I am trying to build a custom Form that modifies inserts or modifies data in the Oracle HRMS system. To do this I thought the APIs would be the best tool because they would preserve the integrity of the system as a last guard if all of my checks on the data failed to catch something.
I am having problems implementing this idea. I have what essentially amount to wrapper functions that take the dataset I am dealing with and send it off through the various APIs needed to place it in the propper location. Insertion of new data is compiling ok, but when I try to compile a package with a procedure in it that utalizes and update (HR_PERSON_API.UPDATE_US_PERSON) I get the following error:

To simplify the problem I took the procedure out of the program unit in the form and made it a stand alone and also stripped it down to just the bare minimum passing in dummy data most of the time and only using local variables rather than objects. I end up with the following code:

This gives me the error from above. If I try to create the same procedure in the database itself using a utility like TOAD and the same information to log in to the database I get no such compile error and only get errors when I run the procedure as all the values are dummy and don't actually map to anything.

I have literaly been on this same problem the entire day and anyone that can help me I would reall apreciate it. At this point I am at a loss. I suspect either I am making the call to the API incorrectly, or it is simply not possible to do what I am trying to do. I hope I am just doing something wrong because as I understood it, one of the points of the API was to allow custom forms to do validated insertion of data.

Your approach of using published APIs is absolutely the best / supported mechanism to propgramatically enter data into HRMS.
This is a long-known issue when calling APIs from Forms - you are not supplying values for all of the parameters that this API exposes, thus the package defaults will be evaluated but these fail over a RPC call.
To work around simply supply all the API parameters with a value to avoid defaulting. So, for those that you do not actually wish to set you can set up a local constant(s) within the form, defined with the same definition as hr_api.g_number, g_varchar2 etc (check the db package specification for these), and pass them explicitly in your call together with those that you are setting currently.

But if my bit shift is correct wouldn't my regular textfile upload be distored?From what I remember, the problem is something to do with logical AND or OR, with the bits. Apache receives it fine, passess it through jk, and and either the most sig or least gets lost. Image data is critical as every bit counts, text file, you may not notice it(white space), or every nTH file upload might fail.

How to add a polygon to mapviewer using Javascript API

Hi,
I am using JavaScript API for the MapViewer.
Using redlining tool, my application allows user to draw polygon onto the map.
I would like to have union, difference and intersect tools. I know the back end logic can be done using using JTS or SDO_Union, SDO_difference, and SDO_intersection. but how do i display the result polygon on the map? Note that I am not going to store the polygon in the database.

If I understand well you are using Oracle Maps. User do some redlining, then you somehow makes FOI polygons. Then you get the coordinates of the polygons and send them to the back-end where you can use spatial functions and get the coordinates of the new polygon.
You can store those coordinates in i.e. hidden input field on page (if you use JSF it is very simple) and then use JavaScript to parse them and Oracle Maps API to create new FOI polygon and add it to mapviewer object. One disadvantage of this concept is that reloading of page (submit) is necessary.

Attachments help - C# using Obect API

I'm in my first attempt at integrating GW functionality into a C# application. I am not an expert C# programmer either. Thus far I've been successful at getting logged into GW, creating a new mail message and sending it successfully. However adding code to attach a file to my message returns an exception from the GroupwareTypeLibrary with the unhelpful error message "Unknown Error". Below is my code. If I comment out the line:

the program runs successfully, happily sending my mail to the recipent mailbox. I know the c:\reg.log file exists and I have permissions to it.
Any advice as to what I'm doing wrong would be of tremendous help, as I've already search and cruised all the forums on GW API I can find to no avail. Running GW 7.03 I think on client and server side.

Thanks so much for your quick reply. I appreciate your willingness to help me overcome my ignorance. Here's what I found:
objMessage = objMessages.Add("GW.MESSAGE.MAIL", 4);
results in a C# compiler error "no overload method for 'add' requires '2' arguments". This tells me the third paramater is required for the GroupwareTypeLibary COM object, so I added the third null parameter back in, eliminating the compiler error. Then I still got the same "unknown error" exception back from the COM library as before.
So I went back to my shotgun approach of trying variations on parameter passing (instance variables instead of literals, etc). I noticed at one point when I tried another test file that I got a compiler error on a string literal of the path\filename "c:\csharptest.txt". Aha, says I ......
To make a long story short, by happenstance, my "c:\reg.log" parameter gets read in C# as containing an escape sequence reference, i.e. "\r" and when I changed to another test file it read "c:\csharptest.txt" as an INVALID escape sequence "\c". The fix then was to correct the problem of the reading of escape sequences in my string literal by changing my line of code to :

The function "Add()" takes only 2 parameters, 'ClassName' + 'ObjType'.
'ClassName' stands for the sort/subtype of message you'd like to create.
'ObjType' stands for 'draft' or 'personal'
Try the following:
objMessages = objMailBox.Messages;
objMessage = objMessages.Add("GW.MESSAGE.MAIL", 4);
The rest should be fine; the code for adding the attachment seems OK.

Call to ALDP 3.2 dataservice using Mediator API throwing validation error

Hi,
Call to ALDP 3.2 dataservice using Mediator API with request doc having xsi:type (eg: <ns1:searchBy xsi:type="ns2:ImplXXXIDType">) is throwing validation saying that it is unable to resolve the namespace ns2 .The namespace ns2 is defined at root level. If the namespace ns2 is defined at the element level like this
<ns1:searchBy xsi:type="ns2:ImplXXXIDType" xmlns:ns2="http://www.xxx.com/xyz/datastructure/1/"> it is working fine. We never had this issue with ALDSP 2.5 Mediator API.
Any suggestions or help would be most welcome!

Ok. Now you need to put enough information on the case for someone to investigate. Please attach instructions on how to create a data space that will show this problem. Since customer support will not have your database etc. , if you just create an empty ds function in the same ds as the one that has the problem, like so...
function dummyFunction() as element(....)* {
and then replace the () with the output from the Test View so it looks like...
function dummyFunction() as element(....)* {
<myElement ....>
<otherElement ...>
</myElement>
Once you have a dummy function like that which demonstrates the problem, export your dataspace and attach it to the case.
If you anticipate some of the questions that customer support is going ot ask you (including providing a reproducer), you will save yourself many days (or weeks) of time.
