Cascading List of Values & Query Panel

Hello all! ADF BC JDev 11
I should use Cascading List of Values in Search Query Panel. I build CLOV like in this sample http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/adfbc_new_features/adfbc.html .
But when i use it in Search Query Panel it does not work. :(((
I thik that i need to set partial triger on detail LOV field. How can i do that?
Help!

Hello,
Thanks for a nice solution.
I have a similar situation.
I have a query panel with auto make name list of values returning make as name and make id into the hidden view attribute.
Based on this, i have another list of values namely auto model which is also a name field returning a name and id(hidden).
I tried choosing the auto model name field and editing dependencies as auto make id and later auto make name as well.
But i get this error in the Weblogic Log every time i selected the auto make LOV or auto model LOV and auto model does not filter based on auto name .
<SimpleSelectOneRenderer><_getSelectedIndex> Could not find selected item matching value "SomeNameViewCriteria" in QueryRenderer$2[UIXEditableFacesBeanImpl, id=null]
I have no clue how to handle this.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

    Hi,
    I have de same problem.
I think that it could be a bug, cause if i check "show in list" option in the View criteria the messages are no prompted, and are prompted with that option unchecked.
Although there's no problem during execution.

  • ORA-01722: invalid number performing List of Values query

I have a situation here where I want to pass string value(available in search field) to POP up key LOV on another page as default value.
I passed item value in default field in POPup key LOV item.I am able to see string value but It also gave me following error.
Error: ORA-01722: invalid number performing List of Values query: "select CUSTOMER_NAME, CUSTOMER_ID from (select customer_name, customer_id from hed_customers) wwvlovinlineviewname where CUSTOMER_ID = :WWV_LOV_RETURN_KEY_UTIL_1111".
Without Default value, it work like champ.
Please suggest how to get rid of this error
    Thanks in advance

    I hit the same problem.
The thing is that, in APEX, a 'null' value in a form is not really null but gets passed on as '%'.
When that gets compared to a number, 01722 will occur.
A workaround is to define a 'value if null' that is an implicit number, like '-1'.
And lets hope no one ever uses that as a real ID...
    Cheers
    Peter

  • SQL Statement ignored performing List of Values query

Hi, New user just learning the basics. I have created a simple table PERSON with columns, ID, firstname, lastname, phone, city, State_ID
Then clicked create Lookup table - State_Lookup with columns State_ID and State_Name.
I create a page, include all columns from PERSON. For State the field is a select list that should do a lookup form the STATE_LOOKUP table. (I have entered 4 states in the table)
I am getting the following error however:
    Error: ORA-06550: line 1, column 14: PL/SQL: ORA-00904: "STATE_ID": invalid identifier ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored performing List of Values query: "select STATE_ID d, STATE_ID v from STATE_ID_LOOKUP order by 1".
I have not entered any sql, just selected all of my options using defaults and dropdowns. What is causing the error and what do I need to change?
    Thanks

Okay, learned something: The database link name used, must not contain a dash. The DB_DOMAIN is appended automatically when you create a DB link, so if IT contains a dash, the db link name does as well. Check DBA_DB_LINKS to make sure you don't hit this well-hidden feature.

  • Join query in a dynamic list of values query

I have a join query in a dynamic list of values query. The value does not return a text value, but rather the id value.
Is it possible to use a join query in a dynamic list of values query?
For example...in the below query, I expect to see ename in the drop down list, but I see class_emp_id.
    select b.ename d, a.class_emp_id r
    from class_emp a, emp b
    where a.class_cat_id = :CURR_CLASS_CAT_ID
    and a.emp_id = b.emp_id
    order by 1
    Thanks,
    Reid

    :CURR_CLASS_CAT_ID is a number datatype.
I think the problem is with the ARF. Whenever I change the dynamic LOV query to exclude the :CURR_CLASS_CAT_ID (a passed in session variable), the drop down shows all the text names I am looking for; albeit, too many since I am excluding the :CURR_CLASS_CAT_ID.
The page I am having the problem with is a popup that is called from a report link on another page. When I show the session variables on the popup page, it shows values for only 1 of the 3 session variables I am passing to this page.
I am using the javascript:popUp2 syntax when I call the popup page from the report link.
As I said previously, I am passing 3 parms and only the 1st parm is getting a value. Yes, there are values for all three parms in the record of the report.
Is there a limit to the number of variables (itemNames) that can be passed to the popup using this method?

  • Dynamic Actions & Cascading List of Values (Exception thrown and not caught

I am having a really strange issue within my Apex 4.0 environment where I am trying to build dynamic actions and cascading list of values.
I am trying to develop new functionality in an existing application, (original application developed using HTMLdb 1.6 and gradually updated to Apex 4.0.1), to add a dynamic action that sets a value of another field, using SQL. The dynamic action is failing with 'Exception thrown and not caught - jquery-1.4.2.min.js Line: 28 Char: 162'. However, when I create a new application within the same workspace and develop the same functionality is works without a problem.
I have ensured the templates for each page/region are an exact copy of each other.

    Patrick,
Thanks my session verify function was causing the problem and I have removed it temporarily from my authentication scheme.
I am using the "check_timeout" function that was developed a number of years ago as part of a "How To" section in the old HTMLdb days. I knew there was an issue with this routine as the newer versions of the browsers handle cookies differently and I was going to redevelop it at some point. Do you know which part of the function causes the issue?
    Many Thanks,
    Jon

  • Cascading LOV in a Query panel (af:query)

    Hi
I have a requirement to implement few Cascading LOV's in a Query panel. I have created the VO's for the LOV's with bind variable and view criteria and linked them. It works for the BC viewer. But to enable in the ADF UI, the partial trigger needs to be enabled on individual field. And the af:query encapsulates the fields and they are not exposed. Can someone help me with a solution or a pointer
    Many thanks

    Thanks for the pointer
Well I followed the the steps, and implemented the same for two LOV's. I'm getting "Server Exception during PPR, #1". Would be able to identify where I'm going wrong please.
FYI: I'm using a UI template that is stripped won from Oracles Dynamic tab template

  • Default value for choice list in af:query panel

    Hi all,
I have af:queryPanel in which i made one choicelist with static list.i want to have the first value of the static list as a default value to the field in af:queryPanel.how can i achieve this.
    I am using jdev11.1.1.5
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
In your model project, create a view criteria (on the VO which you would be using for displaying values in the LOV). In your view criteria add the attributes and set default value (say add Empno and set its value to literal 1111). Now, when creating LOV for the next view object, select the view criteria you've created in previous step (instead of using all queryable attributes).
    Refer : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/web.1111/b31974/lists.htm#BEIBAFDD

  • Cascading List of Values does not work when SQLBuilder is SQL 92.

    Hi,
I followed the link http://download.oracle.com/otn_hosted_doc/jdeveloper/11/demos/ADFBC_Cascading_LOV/ADFBC_Cascading_LOV.html to create Cascading LOV. The LOV comes up fine when sqlbuilder and type map is specified as Oracle. However, the same fails when we specify the sqlbuilder as SQL92 and type map as Java. Is this a known issue?
An Invalid Column index exception is being thrown.
The following is the error we see in the stack trace:

  • List of values not properly working in the selection screen.

    Dear Mates,
In BEx query all the selection parameters are working and showing all the list of values. Created the same report in crystal from BEx query, for one particular selection it is not showing the list of values or drop down. Just showing "DISCRETE VALUES"
Please throw some light on this.
    Good day,
    Regards
    Arun S

    Hi Arun,
I think you have more than one dynamic parameter created in your report.  There is a limitation on dynamic parameter list of values.  You will have to edit the registery to get all values in dynamic parameters list.
    Find below is a knowledgebase article ;
    Symptom
For performance reasons, in Crystal Reports XI Release 1 and Release 2 the maximum number of values that are returned for a list of values is set to 1000. If you have a cascading List of Values (for example Country > Region > City), the lowest level (in this case City) will only display a maximum of 1000 values. This means that the higher-level prompts may display far fewer values than you expect. The list of values provides the data for the dynamic parameter list.
How can you modify the maximum number of values available in a dynamic parameter list?
    Resolution
To increase the maximum number of values available in a dynamic parameter list, you must add a registry key.
    CAUTION
The following resolution involves editing the registry. Using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall the Microsoft Windows operating system. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk. For information on how to edit the registry key, view the 'Changing Keys and Values' online Help topic in the Registry Editor (Regedit.exe).
It is strongly recommended that you make a backup copy of the registry files (System.dat and User.dat on Win9x computers) before you edit the registry.
    Crystal Reports XI Release 1
    Create a registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV.
    NOTE
Alternatively, you can create the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV and that key will override the settings of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV key.
Add a string value "MaxRowsetRecords" and set the value to the maximum number of values that you desire for your report. For example, a value of 2000 will return up to 2000 values in the lowest level of a cascading parameter. NOTE: The value 0 (Unlimited) will not work with BusinessObjects Enterprise XI or Crystal Reports Server XI, you must specify another value.
    NOTE
The higher the number of values is, the longer it will take the Enter Values dialog box to populate with values.
After making changes to the registry, restart the affected service or application as required.
    Crystal Reports XI Release 2
    Create a registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV.
    NOTE
Alternatively, you can create the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV and that key will override the settings of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV key.
Add a string value "MaxRowsetRecords" and set the value to the maximum number of values that you desire for your report. For example, a value of 2000 will return up to 2000 values in the lowest level of a cascading parameter.
    NOTE
The value 0 (Unlimited) will not work with BusinessObjects Enterprise XI or Crystal Reports Server XI, you must specify another value.
After making changes to the registry, restart the affected service or application as required.
    Thanks,
    Sastry

  • What is Delegated LOV (List of Value) ?

    Hi,
What is Delegated LOV (List of Value) ?
    Thanks

The delegate search option on the list of values properties presents the user with an empty list of values at query run time. The user enters search criteria to limit the number of values returned in the list of values.
To activate the delegated search option for a list of values, in the designer, edit the list of values properties on the object properties page of the object to which the list of values applies.
The delegated search is not supported for cascading lists of values.

  • How to display a static drop down list for af:query

    Hi
can anyone tell how to display a static drop down list in af:query panel. JDeveloper version 11.1.1.5.0
    Thanks in advance

    Here is my Usecase
My View Object consists of (Student ID, Name,Roll No) now i want to include one more attribute say No.of Rooms(i added it as a Transient attribute).
Now i want to display the transient attribute values in the form of LOV.
    Thanks

  • Interactive Report - Column list of values

The column header list of values feature is great but I think it would benefit from some usability enhancements. Specifically,
    1. Say I have a column which has 100s of distinct values. Clearly, I wouldn't want to enable the drop-down list of values (LOV) when I click on the column header. So I choose None for Column Filter List of Values. Yet, when I click on the column header, I get a [text field|http://screencast.com/t/M1SPYdAT] for filtering the (non-existent) values, which is a little misleading.
May I suggest that choosing None should make this text field not appear? As a workaround, I use a user-defined LOV value like select 'Use <img src="/i/ws/action_dropdown.gif"/> to filter' from dual to nudge the user to use the main report menu.
    2. When I use the text field in the column heading LOV to narrow down list, Apex performs a "search as you type" query with a "contains" operator.
    May I suggest that
    a) this should be configurable (i.e. perform a "starts with" query or "contains" query)
    b) the search term matched so far should be highlighted in the results
    c) when I click on the column header, the text field should automatically get cursor focus so I can start typing without first having to click in the text field
    3. When I do use the main report menu to filter a column, is there a way to disable certain operators from the [Operator dropdown list|http://screencast.com/t/3kUwiNEH] ?
For example, I have an indexed column so certain "index-friendly" operators (equality, starting with, less than, greater than, etc) are fine but I would want to disable operators which would not use the index (contains, not like, etc).
    4. I have a User Defined List of Values query for a column and the query returns 80 rows. When I click on the column header, only 11 values are displayed in the dropdown. But when I use Filter from the main IR menu and select that column and click on the LOV, all 80 values are shown. The same query is used in both places so I am puzzled as to why they would return different results.
Is there a limitation on the column header LOV, some varchar2(4000) thing maybe?
    Thanks

    Vikas,
Thank you for the feedback. For issue #1, we are aware of the bug. We should not display the text field if no LOV defined. Hopefully we have the fix by next APEX release. Issue #3 is a great suggestion. We will take a look to enhance that. I am unable to reproduce #4, could you please provide the test case in apex.oracle.com?
    Thank you,
    Christina

  • List of values problem

    Hi...
during data entry, the user selects from a select list a value and then goes to another select list to continue data entry, the problem is that the second list depends on the first one. Both select lists are on list of values and in the second list of values query the condition was like this:
    'where department = :p3_department'
where the :p3_department is the first select list.
at runtime,I see that the second list is empty.
    where I went wrong?
    thanks in advance

    Hi mhdamer,
you can make your first select list of the type: 'Select List with redirect'
If you do that and in your second list you make the where clause like you did:
    'where column = :P1_COL_SELECT_LIST_1.
Though it can be that if you select something from the list, that the page will be refreshed (redirected), so that everything you filled in is gone. Then you must try to make the first select list the first field.
    Kind regards,
    Dave
