  • Java.lang.ClassCastException: oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLText cannot be cast to org.w3c.dom.Element

    Hello
    I am getting java.lang.ClassCastException: oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLText cannot be cast to org.w3c.dom.Element error. This code is in java which is present in java embedding.
    The SOA is parsing the xml in java code using oracle.xml.parser.v2 . This wont be a problem if the SOA uses default w3c DOM parser. How do i force SOA to use w3c DOM parser.
    Is there any thing i can do with class loading?
    Kindly help.
    Regards
    Sharat

    Can you paste your java code here ? I assume, you must have tried type-casting.

    It seemed to mix the code with the site XML.
    Oh brother
    The deal is this.
    The XML XSLT transform was working and now it is not and I think it has something to do with
    the HTTP links for either the Oracle core and/or XML TAGLIBs. Either that or the W3.org has

    Anyone know if changes have been made to any of these taglib links?

  • Problem casting org.w3c.dom.Document to oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLDocument

    I have the following problem:
    I get my xml-documents as an XMLType from the database and want to compare these using the supplied Oracle class oracle.xml.differ.XMLDiff (i use the java version supplied with Oracle 9i r2).
    XMLType.getDOM() returns the xml-document as a org.w3c.dom.Document,
    what i need for oracle.xml.differ.XMLDiff is a oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLDocument.
    How can i cast/convert between these two formats?
    thanks!
    p.s. cross-posting with Re: Casting/Converting XMLType to XMLDocument? (but i think this forum is more relevant).

    Hi,
    thanks for the suggestion: i have written the code shown below. It results in a casting error.
    As far as i know, i don't use a oracle.xdb.dom.XDBDocument, i only use a oracle.xdb.XMLType as the input parameter for my conversion-method:
    any new suggestions ???
    p.s. the second method which is commented does work, but is a bit verbose.
       private static oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLDocument convert2XMLDocument(XMLType xml) {
         // simple version (should work according to tech. doc. 9i r2/ 10g r1 database)
         oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLDocument doc = null;
         try {
            // n.b. probleem is dat XMLType.getDOM() een w3c.Document object teruggeeft ipv een oracle.XMLDocument.
            System.out.println("convert2XMLDocument(): casting w3c.Document naar oracle.XMLDocument.");
            doc = (oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLDocument) xml.getDOM(); // public org.w3c.dom.Document getDOM()
            System.out.println("convert2XMLDocument(): done casting w3c.Document naar oracle.XMLDocument.");
         catch (Exception e) {
            e.printStackTrace(System.out);
        return doc;

            DOMParser parser  = new DOMParser();
            parser.setValidationMode(oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLParser.NONVALIDATING);
            parser.setPreserveWhitespace (true);
            parser.parse(new StringReader(xml.getStringVal()));
            doc = parser.getDocument();

          e.printStackTrace(System.out);

  • Could not type cast in java embedding

    DocumentBuilderFactory dbf = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    DocumentBuilder db = dbf.newDocumentBuilder();
    org.xml.sax.InputSource in = (org.xml.sax.InputSource) getVariableData("Invoke_1_getRoutingAndFrameJumpers_OutputVariable","getRoutingAndFrameJumpersResponse");
    Document doc = db.parse(in);
    In the above code I am trying to type cast the variable getRoutingAndFrameJumpersResponse into org.xml.sax.InputSource so that i can parse.
    I am not getting any error during compilation
    but I am unable to type cast some run time error is coming in the line were I am type casting but I am not able to see the runtime error.
    How can I see the runtime error in java embedding, how to type cast a variable into xml so that I can parse it.

    Hi Arun,
    Could you try using the bpelx:rename extension in an assign activity enables a BPEL process to rename an element through use of XSD type casting.
    <bpel:assign>
    <bpelx:rename elementTo="QName1"? typeCastTo="QName2"?>
    <bpelx:target variable="ncname" part="ncname"? query="xpath_str" />
    </bpelx:rename>
    </bpel:assign>

  • Use Window's scriptcontrol eval to parse JScript response from Java Server

    I've been asked to create a program to send and receive data to our Java Server. I've never worked with Java or even HTML before but there is some working code written in VB that I've been working from to get me started. I have successfully made connection to the server using IWinHttpRequest which returns a parse-able string. In the VB code they used MSScriptControl.IScriptControl to parse the returned string into an object that they could query for different parameters like 'returnStatus' and 'returnType'. This seems like a great advantage over parsing the string in LabVIEW. However, the return of this functions is a variant that seems to be just an 'object'. I am not very familiar with LVOOP or OOP in general and so I have no idea what to do with this 'object'. I've tried creating a LVObject that contained a control for all the parameters in the return string, then take the variant from the scriptcontrol and Type Set it as my LVObject and remove the parameters through the Object's cluster. But that didn't seem to work. I would like to know if this possible or should I give up and just go with the long yet sure way.
    I am using LabVIEW 8.5.1 on an XP machine. I think this would be easier if I had 8.6 or 2009 but alas I don't.
    Attached is my trial VI

    Peter, Thanks for your reply. The problem is I am not creating the object, Window's ScriptControl 'eval' function (an ActiveX Invoke Node) is returning the object as a variant. I understand the general concepts of OOP which is why I think I know what the object is 'composed' of but I don't know how to get the individual parts of the object into a form I can work with within LabVIEW. Since I do think I know what data is in the object, I tried to type case the variant as a LV Object who's cluster contained a control for each piece of data with the label of the control being the name of a part of the object but it didn't seem to work.
    For example, if the string returned from WinHttpRequest was {"returnType":"True","returnStatus":"StringArray"} and I sent this throught the 'eval' function, the returned object would have 2 parameter: a string labeled "returnType" having a value of "True" and another string labeled "returnStatus" having a value of "StringArray". I tried creating a LV Object that had two string controls labled "returnType" and "returnStatus" in it's cluster. I then created a constant of this LV Object and type cast the variant using this constant then tried to read one of the strings within the LV Object. The result was the default value of an empty string.
    I think this should be the way to accomplish my goal but either I'm wrong or there is some nuance that I am missing.
    Thanks for any insight provided.

  • Parsing data from Serial Port one byte at a time

    Hi everyone,
            What I want to do is read in from the serial port byte by byte and parse each byte that I am reading in. The size of the data read in varies. How do I do that? I can do using .dll but I want to learn how to do it in labview. I searched through the forum for something similar but no luck. I have seen some that puts the VISA read in a while loop and others that puts the property node,  "bytes at Port" in a while loop. What is the difference in doing either way? I am using Labview 7.1 Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks

    Hi guys..
    I'm still a beginner in using labview tcp/ip function. for now, i have a project to read the labview data with java programming language so that i can monitor that data using any devices that using java, such as PC or cell phone. my task for now is to determine the format of data that being sent (its type, length, etc), coz as far as i done until now, the data that read in the java is still a raw material so that i dont know how to gain the information from that data.
    my question is :
    - how does the type cast work in changing the data format from one to another?
    - how does the bytes to read in tcp read work? coz when i'm changing the length of bytes to read constant from 4 bytes to another, the data is becoming mess up. As far as i know, the bytes to read only read the first "constant number" byte in the tcp read to determine the length and type of the data..
    thanks

  • Oracle.xml.parser.v2.SAXParser error

    I'm reposting this error that I recently received one more time before removing the XML transforms from my Java projects and doing them in .NET.
    Code that was working fine suddenly getting a transform error using JDeveloper.
    Get the following:
    javax.servlet.ServletException: javax.xml.transform.TransformerConfigurationException: XML-22000: (Fatal Error) Error while parsing XSL file (weblogic.xml.jaxp.RegistryXMLReader cannot be cast to oracle.xml.parser.v2.SAXParser).
         at weblogic.servlet.jsp.PageContextImpl.handlePageException(PageContextImpl.java:417)
    Seems that
    <!--

    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" prefix="c" %>

    <x:transform xml="${xmlHoursWorked}" xslt="${xslt}" />
    </table>
    -->
    will not transform XML to HTML via XSL in JSP anymore.
    If I run the XSL i get the HTML results I expected in an HTML test page.
    So I know the XML and XSL is sound.
    XSL and DOM parsing in Java/Oracle was a major pain in the ass in the first place and now this.
    Well I've spent hours going through Oralce/Java documentation on XML, DOM and XSL transforms.
    All that time spent and still so unstable. I don't think I was ever able to really get what I wanted
    which was to transform my XML document to HTML, update via JSP and have the XML document
    be updated and ready to view in a summary page. The XML document changes were never really
    available unless I closed the app and restarted. So all in all a failure of capabilities compared to my
    use of XML in .NET.
    So........
    Me thinks it will be a good idea to take out the transforms and have my JSP use a script to invoke a
    method in a class that extracts it from a message. Just have PL/SQL interface with XML and do the
    transform or serialize thing there.
    I don't want to give up on XML but I'm tired of trying to jam a square peg into a round hole
    with Java and JDeveloper.
    Brian

    We don't support file references ("cv1_0.dtd"). Only url type references
    are supported, of the form:
    @ <!DOCTYPE cv1 SYSTEM "http://www.oracle.com/public/cv1_0.dtd>
    Note that the url should be accessible to the world without the need to authenticate.
    you could put your dtd in the "public" area in your iFS system.

  • Can someone help me with a problem of parsing an XML file?

    Hello,
    I'm having some problems parsing an xml file. I get a SAXNotSupportedException when setting a property value.
    Here is the piece of code where I have the problem:
    SAXParserFactory spf = SAXParserFactory.newInstance();
    spf.setNamespaceAware(true);
    SAXParser saxParser = spf.newSAXParser();
    XMLReader xmlReader = saxParser.getXMLReader();
    DefaultHandler defHandler = new DefaultHandler();
    xmlReader.setProperty("http://xml.org/sax/properties/lexical-handler", defHandler);
    and the log is:
    Problem with the parser org.xml.sax.SAXNotSupportedException: PAR012 For propertyID "http://xml.org/sax/properties/lexical-handler", the value "org.xml.sax.helpers.DefaultHandler@4ff4f74a" cannot be cast to LexicalHandler.
    http://xml.org/sax/properties/lexical-handler org.xml.sax.helpers.DefaultHandler@4ff4f74a LexicalHandler
    I've been working on this problem but I can't find the error.
    Does anyone have an idea of what to do to solve it?
    Thanx in advance,
    M@G

    before deciding which XML technology to use, you should see if your application fit in the category below:
    use SAX:
    1. The XML file is rather large (30 or 40+ MB)
    2. I don't need the xml document in memory. I will parse the document and store the data in my own object.
    use DOM or JDOM
    1. The XML file is relatively small (less than 30 MB) or I can increase the runtime memory for larger xml file.
    2. I will need to walk up and down the xml document tree severals time.
    3. My application is in Java and it's not going to be rewritten in C++, etc (use JDOM)
    NOTE:
    JDOM is rather easier to use (for Java developer), but it's not an www.org.com standardlized xml parser.
    personally, i like JDOM for traversing the DOM.

    Thanks Shay, now I think syntax is correct for gain an average for each column:
    @NamedQuery(name = "Polls.findAVG", query = "select AVG(o.value1), AVG(o.value2), AVG(o.value3), AVG(o.value4), AVG(o.value5) from Polls o")But still got some trouble to get a bar graph...
    If I drag&drop that query from data control, I get an empty graph with 5 values ,look http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/8710/emptygraphag7.png .
    In the log there is some errors (due that named query and its methods in EJB):

  • What is the best solution for xml parsing?

    Hi. I've got a huge problem with the XML xtra. When I was
    running my application the memory usage started to grow up
    and up...I've only parse the XML once on the beggining, so I
    thought that maybe it was a problem with the garbage
    colector, etc...after a loooong time, I've realized that
    every time that I access some node to get some information, the
    movie uses more and more memory. I've read in the groups that
    the XML xtra is known for memory leaks issues, so I've
    did what they suggested and changed to the dom-lingo cast
    (the one from shocknet)...The problem is that now when I'm
    parsing the XML it takes like 50 seconds (with the XML xtra
    it was like 2 secs) something that I think it would be too slow
    for the end-user... I don't know if there's a faster (and
    free) alternative...
    I'm using Director MX and my XML file it's about 550 kb
    Thanks.

    It's reported tht the main memory leak has been fixed as of
    10.1, a more
    mino r node reference related leak can be worked around
    http://www.killingmoon.com/director/bugs/xml_parser/
    A workaround some used before the xtra beng made usable was
    to call on
    the Flash XML object available via in the flash xtra, here's
    an article.
    "Reading XML Into Director MX 2004 With a Simple Flash
    Object"

  • Parse of a xml file to an java object model

    Hello,
    I'm trying to do a program that receive an xml file and ought to create all the neccesary java objects according to the content of the parsed xml file.
    I've all the class created for all the objects that could be present into the xml and the idea is to go down in the tree of nodes recursively until it returns nodes more simple. Then, I create the last object and while I come back of the recursively calls, I create the objects more complex until I reached to the main object.
    Until now, I have part of this code, that is the one wich have to parse the parts of the xml.
    public static void readFile(String root){
              DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory
                   .newInstance();
              try {
                   DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
                   Scanner scanner = new Scanner(new File(root)).useDelimiter("\\Z");
                   String contents = scanner.next();
                   scanner.close();
                   Document document = builder.parse(new ByteArrayInputStream(contents.getBytes()));
                   Node node = null;
                   NodeList nodes = null;
                   Element element = document.getDocumentElement();
                   System.out.println(element.getNodeName());
                   NodeList subNodes;
                   NamedNodeMap attributes;
                   //if (element.hasAttributes())
                   visitNodes(element);
              } catch (ParserConfigurationException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
              } catch (SAXException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
              } catch (IOException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
         private static void visitNodes (Node node){
              for(Node childNode = node.getFirstChild(); childNode!=null;){
                   if (childNode.getNodeType() == childNode.DOCUMENT_NODE){
                        System.out.println("Document node Name " + childNode.getNodeName());
                        visitNodes(childNode);
                   }else if (childNode.getNodeType() == childNode.ELEMENT_NODE){
                        System.out.println("Node Name " + childNode.getNodeName());
                        if (childNode.hasAttributes()){
                             visitAttributes(childNode.getAttributes());
                        if (childNode.hasChildNodes()){
                             visitNodes(childNode);
                   }else if (childNode.getNodeType() == childNode.TEXT_NODE && !childNode.getNodeValue().contains("\n\t")){
                        System.out.println("Node value " + childNode.getNodeValue());
                   Node nextChild = childNode.getNextSibling();
                   childNode = nextChild;
         private static void visitAttributes(NamedNodeMap attributes){
              Node node;
              for(int i = 0; i < attributes.getLength(); i++){
                   node = attributes.item(i);
                   System.out.print(node.getNodeName() + " ");
                   System.out.print(node.getNodeValue() + " ");
                  }I don't know the use of childNodeType. For example, I expected that the XML tags with childs in his structure, enter by the option NODE_DOCUMENT and the tags without childs by the ELEMENT_NODE.
    But the most important problem I've found are the nodes [#text] because after one ELEMENT_NODE I always found this node and when I ask if the node hasChilds, always returns true by this node.
    Has any option to obtain this text value, that finally I want to display without doing other recursively call when I enter into the ELEMENT_NODE option?
    When one Node is of type DOCUMENT_NODE or DOCUMENT_COMMENT? My program always enter by the ELEMENT_NODE type
    Have you any other suggestions? All the help or idea will be well received.
    Thanks for all.

    Hello again,
    My native language is Spanish and sorry by my English I attemp write as better I can, using my own knowledge and the google traductor.
    I have solved my initial problem with the xml parser.
    Firstly, I read the complete XML file, validated previously.
    The code I've used is this:
    public static String readCompleteFile (String root){
              String content = "";
              try {
                   Scanner scanner = new Scanner(new File(root)).useDelimiter("\\Z");
                   content = scanner.next();
                   scanner.close();
              } catch (IOException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
              return content;
         }Now, I've the file in memory and I hope I can explain me better.
    I can receive different types of XML that could be or not partly equals.
    For this purpose I've created an external jar library with all the possible objects contained in my xml files.
    Each one of this objects depend on other, until found leaf nodes.
    For example, If I receive one xml with a scheme like the next:
    <Person>
        <Name>Juliet</Name>
        <Father Age="30r">Peter</Father>
        <Mother age="29">Theresa</Mother>
        <Brother>
        </Brother>
        <Education>
            <School>
            </school>
        </education>
    </person>
    <person>
    </person>The first class, which initializes the parse, should selecting all the person tags into the file and treat them one by one. This means that for each person tag found, I must to call each subobject wich appears in the tag. using as parameter his own part of the tag and so on until you reach a node that has no more than values and or attributes. When the last node is completed I'm going to go back for completing the parent objects until I return to the original object. Then I'll have all the XML in java objects.
    The method that I must implement as constructor in every object is similar to this:
    public class Person{
      final String[] SUBOBJETOS = {"Father", "Mother", "Brothers", "Education"};
      private String name;
         private Father father;
         private Mother mother;
         private ArrayList brothers;
         private Education education;
         public Person(String xml){
           XmlUtil utilXml = new XmlUtil();
              String xmlFather = utilXml.textBetweenXmlTags(xml, SUBOBJETOS[0]);
              String xmlMother = utilXml.textBetweenXmlTags(xml, SUBOBJETOS[1]);
              String xmlBrothers = utilXml.textBetweenMultipleXmlTags(xml, SUBOBJETOS[2]);
              String xmlEducation = utilXml.textBetweenXmlTags(xml, SUBOBJETOS[3]);
              if (!xmlFather.equals("")){
                   this.setFather(new Father(xmlFather));
              if (!xmlMother.equals("")){
                   this.setMother(new Father(xmlMother));
              if (!xmlBrothers.equals("")){
                ArrayList aux = new ArrayList();
                String xmlBrother;
                while xmlBrothers != null && !xmlBrothers.equals("")){
                  xmlBrother = utilXml.textBetweenXmlTags(xmlBrothers, SUBOBJETOS[2]);
                  aux.add(new Brother(xmlBrother);
                  xmlBrothers = utilXml.removeTagTreated(xmlBrothers, SUBOBJETOS[2]);
                this.setBrothers(aux);
              if (!xmlEducation.equals("")){
                   this.setEducation(new Father(xmlEducation));
    }If the object is a leaf object, the constructor will be like this:
    public class Mother {
         //Elements
         private String name;
         private String age;
         public Mother(String xml){
              XmlUtil utilXml = new XmlUtil();
              HashMap objects = utilXml.parsearString(xml);
              ArraysList objectsList = new ArrayList();
              String[] Object = new String[2];
              this.setName((String)objects.get("Mother"));
              if (objects.get("attributes")!= null){
                   objectsList = objects.get("attributes");
                   for (int i = 0; i < objectsList.size();i++){
                     Object = objectsList.get(i);
                     if (object[0].equals("age"))
                       this.setAge(object[1]);
                     else
         }Each class will have its getter and setter but I do not have implemented in the examples.
    Finally, the parser is as follows:
    import java.io.ByteArrayInputStream;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.util.ArrayList;
    import java.util.HashMap;
    import javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilder;

              else
                   return "";
         private ArrayList visitAttributes(NamedNodeMap attributes){
              Node node;
              ArrayList ListAttributes = new ArrayList();
              String [] attribute = new String[2];
              for(int i = 0; i < attributes.getLength(); i++){

                   if (node.getNodeType() == Node.ATTRIBUTE_NODE){
                        attribute[0] = node.getNodeName();
                        attribute[1] = node.getNodeValue();
                        ListAttributes.add(attribute);
              return ListAttributes;
    }This code functioning properly. However, as exist around 400 objects to the xml, I wanted to create a method for more easily invoking objects that are below other and that's what I can't get to do at the moment.
    The code I use is:
    import java.lang.reflect.Constructor;
    import java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException;
    import java.lang.reflect.Method;
    public class UtilClasses {
         public Object UtilClasses(String package, String object, String xml){
              try {
                Class class = Class.forName(package + "." + object);
                //parameter types for methods
                Class[] partypes = new Class[]{Object.class};
                //Create method object . methodname and parameter types
                Method meth = class.getMethod(object, partypes);
                //parameter types for constructor
                Class[] constrpartypes = new Class[]{String.class};
                //Create constructor object . parameter types
                Constructor constr = claseObjeto.getConstructor(constrpartypes);
                //create instance
                Object obj = constr.newInstance(new String[]{xml});
                //Arguments to be passed into method
                Object[] arglist = new Object[]{xml};
                //invoke method!!
                String output = (String) meth.invoke(dummyto, arglist);
                System.out.println(output);
            } catch (ClassNotFoundException e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
            } catch (SecurityException e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
            } catch (NoSuchMethodException e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
            } catch (IllegalArgumentException e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
            } catch (IllegalAccessException e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
            } catch (InvocationTargetException e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
            } catch (InstantiationException e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
              return null;
         }This is an example obtained from the Internet that I've wanted modified to my needs. The problem is that when the class calls this method to invoke the constructor and does not fail, this does not do what I expect, because it creates an empty constructor. If not, the parent class gives a casting error.
    I hope that now have been more clear my intentions and that no one has fallen asleep reading this lengthy explanation.
    greetings.

  • XML parser not detecting character encoding

    Hi,
    I am using Jdeveloper 9.0.5 preview and the same problem is happening in our production AS 9.0.2 release.
    The character encoding of an xml document is not correctly being detected by the oracle v2 parser even though the xml declaration correctly contains
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?>
    instead it treats the document as UTF8 encoding which is fine until a document comes along with an extended character which then causes a
    java.io.UTFDataFormatException: Invalid UTF8 encoding.
    at oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLUTF8Reader.checkUTF8Byte(XMLUTF8Reader.java:160)
    at oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLUTF8Reader.readUTF8Char(XMLUTF8Reader.java:187)
    at oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLUTF8Reader.fillBuffer(XMLUTF8Reader.java:120)
    at oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLByteReader.saveBuffer(XMLByteReader.java:448)
    at oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLReader.fillBuffer(XMLReader.java:2023)
    at oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLReader.tryRead(XMLReader.java:972)
    at oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLReader.scanXMLDecl(XMLReader.java:2589)
    at oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLReader.pushXMLReader(XMLReader.java:485)
    at oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLReader.pushXMLReader(XMLReader.java:192)
    at oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLParser.parse(XMLParser.java:144)
    as you can see it is explicitly casting the XMLUTF8Reader to perform the read.
    I can get around this by hard coding the xml input stream to be processed by a reader
    XMLSource = new StreamSource(new InputStreamReader(XMLInStream,"ISO-8859-1"));
    however the manual documents that the character encoding is automatically picked up from the xml file and casting into a reader is not necessary, so I should be able to write
    XMLSource = new StreamSource(XMLInStream)
    Does anyone else experience this same problem?
    having to hardcode the encoding causes my software to lose flexibility.
    Jarrod Sharp.

    An XML document should be created with 'ISO-8859-1' encoding to be parsed as 'ISO-8859-1' encoding.

  • View Criteria in ADF Query Panel with Table-Class Cast Exception

    Hi,
    I am getting Class Cast Exception when using view criteria for ADF Query Panel with Table. The version I am using is 11g Release 1(11.1.1.2.0)
    Here is what I did:
    1. created a view criteria on a view object
    2. all are optional
    3. all are Strings
    3. Dragged the view criteria as a query component (ADF Query panel with Query table) on to the design layout
    and the error when I clicked the Search button is:

    Hi Frank.
    I'm using JDev 11.1.1.3.0 as you suggest the error is no longer present in the latest version.
    I can pick my query from the "Saved Search" pick list on the QueryPanel list of queries just fine, and it sets up the filter properly, but when I press the "Search" button, I get the same reported error...

  • SQL Server 2012 Management Studio:Importing XML file to new Table of new Database-XML parsing: unexpected end of input???

    Hi all,
    In the Notepad, I created an xml file (ZenQroducts.xml) :
    <Qroducts>
    <Qroduct>
    <SKU>1</SKU>
    <Desc>Book</Desc>
    </Qroduct>
    <Qroduct>
    <SKU>2</SKU>
    <Desc>DVD</Desc>
    </Qroduct>
    <Qroduct>
    <SKU>3</SKU>
    <Desc>Video</Desc>
    </Qroduct>
    In my SQL Server 2012 Management Studio, I executed the following code:
    --to create a new object Qroducts in a new database OPENXMLtesting
    CREATE DATABASE OPENXMLtesting
    GO
    CREATE TABLE Qroducts(
    sku INT Primary KEY,
    qroduct_desc VARCHAR(30));
    INSERT INTO Qroducts (sku, qroduct_desc)
    SELECT X.qroduct.query('SKU').value('.', 'INT'),
    X.qroduct.query('Desc').value('.', 'VARCHAR(30)')
    FROM (
    SELECT CAST(x AS XML)
    FROM OPENROWSET(
    BULK 'H:\ZenQroducts.xml',
    SINGLE_BLOB) AS T(x)
    ) AS T(x)
    CROSS APPLY x.nodes('Qroducts/Qroduct') AS X(qroduct);
    SELECT sku, qroduct_desc
    FROM Qroducts;
    I got the following message:
    Msg 9400, Level 16, State 1, Line 6
    XML parsing: line 13, character 12, unexpected end of input
    I have no ideas why I got this "XML parsing:line 13, character12, unexpected end of input" message. Please kindly help, advise me on where I made mistake and how I can resolve this problem, and respond in this Forum.
    Thanks in advance,
    Scott Chang

    Hi Manish, Thanks for your response.
    Yes, it is a duplicate with Qroducts/Qroduct instead of Products/Product. I did it, because I don't know how to remove the existing "Products" database.
    Again, I got the existing "Qroducts" database in this second trial!!??  I am comletely lost in doing "Importing XML file to SQL Table" now!!  I think that I have not touched T-SQL and XML programming, since 2008. I
    did not catch the new features of T-SQL 2008, XML, SQL/XML, XQuery, etc. for long time. Recently, I did not know what DECLARE, @x, SET,...were, and dived into the SQL/XML and XQuery programming. I knew the SQL Basics (SELECT, FROM, WHERE,..), creating
    the names of databases and tables in SQL Server 2008/2012 Management Studio (Express) before. This morning, I found an old T-SQL 2008 Prgrammer's Guide that has the new features of SQL Server 2008 for T-SQL, XML, XQuery, etc. I just starting reading
    it to know what DECLARE, @x, SET,... are. But, I still don't know where the existing databases "Products" and "Qroducts" (created by me) are - they are not in the Databases of SQL Server 2012 Management Studio I am using!!??  Could
    you please kindly point out where the "Products" and "Qroducts" databases are?
    Prashanth responded to my posted question too and he asked to to try his code: DECLARE @xml XML, SELECT @xml =' <Qroducts>.....SELECT product.value.....FROM @XML.nodes.....AS.... I just learned that his code is doing the thing we
    want to do and print the results below the SQL Query. This is not what I need in doing my SQL/XML programming. I am reading/studying the new (2008) features of T-SQL, XQuery 1.0: An XML Query Language (Second Edition), and Microsoft XQuery Language Reference
    (SQL Server 2012 Books Online) closely now. I hope that I can resume the T-SQL, XML Query, SQL/XML, XQuery in my SQL Server 2012 Management Studio soon.
    Please tell me  where the existing databases "Products" and "Qroducts" I created in my previous trials in my SQL Server 2012 Management Studio.  This is what I need to know and to delete them, before I do this kind of "Importing
    XML file to Table of SQL Server 2012 Management Studio"  programming again.
    Please kindly help, advise and respond again.
    Many Thanks,
    Scott Chang
