Catch AE close event

Hi,
I'm working on scripts for AE, and I am currently trying to find a way to catch an event when the user close the application (so I can execute some code before it closes).
I saw some onClose() functions but I heard they don't work anymore with CS6...
Thank you for your Time!
Ekibyo

Hi!
Actually, you don't need to catch the close event.
When After Effects closes, it checks this folder:
Adobe After Effects (your version)/Support Files/Scripts/Shutdown
and runs the scripts present in this folder.
So if you paste your script in the Shutdown folder, it'll be launched on close event.
If you want to launch scripts on Startup, you'll find a Startup folder as well...
Cheers,
François

  • How to catch browser close event excluding navigation events

    Hi,
    I tried using onBeforeUnload event and onUnload events.. but they are catching navigation events within the same site. Could you please let me know how I can catch browser close events without catching Navigation events?
    Thanks.

    Just set them to null when navigation takes place.
    Said that, you should be asking Javascript/DHTML related questions in a forum devoted to Javascript/DHTML. There are ones at webdeveloper.com and dynamicdrive.com. This has nothing to do with Java.

  • Catching browser close event and showing my own popup

    Hi,
    I want to show my own warning popup on browser close event. Kindly help me with the solution.
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Lavanya.

    Lavanya,
    I don't think you could show a ADF Popup during the onload event. Instead, you could use javascript's confirm method to prompt the user to choose what they want to do and perform that operation accordingly.
    Ex :
    jspx code
       <af:document id="d1" onunload="performUnloadEvent" clientComponent="true">
                <af:resource type="javascript">
                  // For Mozilla and Firefox
                  if(window.addEventListener){
                  window.addEventListener('beforeunload', function (event) {
                    showConfirm();
                  // For IE
                  else if(window.attachEvent){
                       window.attachEvent('onbeforeunload', function (event) {
                    showConfirm();
                  function showConfirm(){
                          var eventSource = AdfPage.PAGE.findComponentByAbsoluteId('d1');
                          var sel = confirm("Are you sure you want to exit?");
                        if(sel==true){
                            alert('Perform OK Operation');
                            var x = AdfCustomEvent.queue(eventSource, "handleOnUnload", {result : 'ok'},false);
                            var y = 0;
                        else {
                        alert('Perform Cancel Operation');
                         var x = AdfCustomEvent.queue(eventSource, "handleOnUnload", {result : 'cancel'},false);
                         var y = 0;
                </af:resource>
                <af:serverListener type="handleOnUnload" method="#{UnloadHandler.onUnloadHandler}"/>
                <af:form id="f1" clientComponent="true">
                </af:form>
            </af:document>onUnloadHandler method in bean
        public void onUnloadHandler(ClientEvent clientEvent) {
            System.out.println("Unload Event fired..");
            String outcome = clientEvent.getParameters().get("result").toString();
            if(outcome.equalsIgnoreCase("ok")){

  • Capture close event

    Hi,
    I have a scenario where I need to capture close event of active PDF document. I am opening a WinForm on click of toolbar button (in C++) and if user choose to close the PDF document, I want to close the WinForm at the same time. Please advice.

    Do you mean you are using the ActiveX control inside of your form?  If so, there isn't any close event to catch.
    You will need to look at writing a custom plugin to Acrobat/Reader that can catch the event and pass it along.

    If ((pVal.FormType = 139 And (pVal.EventType = SAPbouiCOM.BoEventTypes.et_FORM_CLOSE)) And (pVal.Before_Action = True)) Then
          Try

  • How To Get The CLOSE Event In a JSP File?

    Hello everybody,
    Right now I am working in a JSP project which is about access log, when the users start , oprate, or close the system, the access log system works. I am in trouble in that when the users close the system, how can I get the close event?
    The JSP file contains the following fields :
    Close Window
    How to add code to get the CLOSE Event and submit to the service?
    And If I hit the "Close Button"(on the right-top of the window), how can I get the CLOSE event, too?
    Can anyone tell me?

    1. Add a hidden field:
    <input type="hidden" id="status" value="">2. modify <a href="index.jsp" onclick ="parent.window.close( );">Close Window</a> with <a href="index.jsp" onclick ="closefn();">Close Window</a>3. Add a javascript
    <script language="javascript">function closefn(){
    document.getElementById('status').value="close";
    document.form.action="";
    document.form.method="post";
    document.form.submit();
    parent.window.close( );
    }4. Now on the action page get the value of status by request.getParameter("status"); and log it.

  • Dynamic TaskFlow Gets Refreshed on Catching a Contextual Event

    Hi,
    I am using Contextual events in my application. I have 2 task flows in my parent page. One TF is raising an event and the other is catching it. As my catching TF is a dynamic TF, I have specified the event map in it only.
    Everything is working as intended only that my dynamic TF gets refreshed when it catches the event! I do not want that. I want to explicitly refresh any UI component that requires to be refreshed, not the whole TF.
    So is there any specific property of task flows that make it to refresh itself when ever it catches any contextual event?
    Also I have tried 'Refresh="ifNeeded"' and 'RefreshCondition="#{false}"' in my dynamic taskflow specification in the parent page but it does not make any difference.
    Regards,
    Rahul Saxena

    Rahul,
    there is no setting for this. If however the managed bean you setup for handling the dynamic region is in backing bean scope (or request scope) then chances are that the region is refreshed because the bean restes after the request (just assuming here). Yournot giving us much to chew on (no JDeveloper version, no implementation details etc. ) So its hard to provide further ideas. As a last resort, if you have a support contract, you can contact customer support with a test case

  • How to catch the mouse event from the JTable cell of  the DefaultCellEditor

    Hi, my problem is:
    I have a JTable with the cells of DefaultCellEditor(JComboBox) and added the mouse listener to JTable. I can catch the mouse event from any editor cell when this cell didn't be focused. However, when I click the editor to select one JComboBox element, all the mouse events were intercepted by the editor.
    So, how can I catch the mouse event in this case? In other word, even if I do the operation over the editor, I also need to catch the cursor position.
    Any idea will be highly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks very much for your help. Really, your code could run well, but my case is to catch the JComboBox event. So, when I change the JTextField as JComboBox, it still fail to catch the event. The following is my code. Could you give me any other suggestion?

    Hmmm Strange!!!
    Seems like a bug which requires target for parallel effect while hide only but does not set it.
    For the time being you can remove the sequence effect as there is no othe effect other than parallel and use effect like

  • Can't find an application close event.

    I have a script that runs on the document close event.  It looks like the document close event doesn't fire when the application is closed while a document is open. I checked for an application close event in the Script listener log, but there wasn't an entry for it, and the document close event wasn't present either.
    The script I'm making writes a file in the same folder as the opened document that indicates that the file is in use. Then when the document is closed, the lock file is removed.  It works except when you close the application.  There is no document closed event firing, so the documents just close and the application shuts down without any events firing.
    Is there a way know when the application is closing?
    I found a possible work around that would be a huge pain.  The idea is about loading a custom external library that performs cleanup when it is automatically unloaded when Photoshop closes.  This is the prototype for the function that would do the work:
    void ESTerminate (void );
    There is another work around that invloves some button that the user has to remember to click to close the application. That would be awkward and open to user error.
    I just want the document closed event to fire before the application closes. Thanks for you help!

    That's too bad.  I don't feel like getting a whole build environment setup for CS just so I can get a pre-close event in Photoshop.  I implemented a script that the user will run in order to close photoshop. I saved a shortcut to the script in "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)\Presets\Scripts".  The script closes each document and runs my event handler. Then it exits. Check it out, it seems to work:
    #target photoshop
    //user will run this script instead of hitting exit button
    var MLAB_CUSTOM = new Folder($.getenv('MLAB_CUSTOM')).absoluteURI
    var docs = app.documents
    for(var i = docs.length-1; i >= 0; i--)
    docs[i].close()
    $.evalFile(MLAB_CUSTOM+"/Ps-FileLock/PsLock-OnDocClose.jsx")
    photoshop.quit();
