CcBPM: HTTP Send Step

Hi Experts,
i want to open my FTP adapter within an integration process.
therefore i have the correct HTTP GET statement.
My problem is what kind of data type is needed and how is it integrated into the integration process?
Thanks,
chris

Hi, thanks.
I want to open my FTP adapter, when its open it receives data from an ftp server, transforms it.
so I want to open the FTP adapter .. make an transaction ... and close the FTP adapter again.
the things i want to know:
how to configure the open and close steps within the integration process. and I meant HTTP post..not get.
see this screenshot:

  • BPM - Send Step to HTTP - How to capture the error?

    Hi gurus,
I have a BPM with a Send Step that connects to an http server. I need the following:
    - If the HTTP returns code 200, end the BPM
    - If the HTTP returns another code, wait 5 minutos and try the send step again.
I've made a LOOP with a flag. Inside the LOOP I have a BLOCK with an exception branch.
In the send step I put in the field "system error" to go to the exception branch and in the exception branch i'm setting my flag to do the loop one more time.
My problem is that the Send Step is not triggering the exception branch! The http returns 405 or 504 and it continues like everything is okey.
    Can you help with this?
    Thanks in advance !
    MD.

    Hi Ramakrishna,
Once you create the session, Process the session using
the report RSBDCSUB using submit statement.
It would list out the erroneous records.
Hence, while submitting, just say submit RSBDCSUB in background and export output list to memory.,
Then you can retrieve the list from memory using the FM LIST_FROM_MEMORY into the internal table and finally send the email by the fm you have already mentioned.

  • Synchronous send step from ccBPM

    Hello Experts,
I'd like to ask you if you have an idea how to configure synchronous send step from ccBPM. So scenario is quite simple:
    1. async start of process
    2. sync send to system A
    3. continue of process
    What I already did is:
I define abstract sync interface everything including names is the same as target sync service interface. Then I define async abstract SI with a name of Request Message type and async abstract SI with a name of Response Message. I of course use Receiver From property set to Send Context...
In monitoring it looks like this: I successfully call sync interface, but the way back???... First of all process does not wait for response but continue with other steps and response doesn't not have service interface, namespace and receivers properties set(service, interface, namespace)...
Does anyone already face this problem or do you know how to send sync message from ccBPM in PI 7.1?
    Many Thanks,
    Milan

A BPM cannot process further without receiving the response message of the SYnc Send......
In the req and resp tabs of the Sync Step of BPM you have to use the correspoding Container Variables (which you have defined with the ABS Async Req and Resp MIs).
I am having few Sync steps defined in some BPMs on PI7.1 and all are waiting for the response and then only proceeding....if any error then BPM wont progress (rather should not).....below are the settings of my Sync Step:
    Mode: Synchronous
    Create New Transaction: Unchecked
    Synchronous Interface: FileDetails_sync_AI
Request Message: Container variable for Req MI
Response Message: Container variable for Resp MI
    Receiver From: Send Context

  • Error Handling in BPM - Send Step

    Hello,
I would like to implement the following two error handlers using BPM:
    1. There is a send step which sends a message to an HTTP receiver. If the HTTP server is down I would like to add 3 retries and just in case after the third retry fails there should be an error Email sent. So I am wondering whether a communication error (which happens in the HTTP receiver communication channel) is delivered back to the process engine so that it can be handled using BPM.
    2. I also need to apply a validation using XML schema. So if validation fails the error should also be returned to the process engine so that it can be handled in the integration process.
Are those two requirement possible as described (returning communication and validation errors)? Or do I have to follow another approach?
    Thank you very much!

    Hi Florian,
    >>2. When I activate transport acknowledgement and there is an error in XML validation outbound channel request I get an system error acknowledgement back however the error branch is NOT taken either!
Correct send step using transport acknowledgment will check whether the message was transmitted or not
    Check this link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/EN/43/65ce41ae343e2be10000000a1553f6/content.htm
    >>3. And NOW it gets interesting: When I simulate step 2 again an cancel the error message afterwards then the error branch is taken! Not very useful in my opinion if error messages have to be canceled first. The error branch seems to be pretty useless for me in case of asynchronous send steps.
Again when you cancelled the message it was not received successfully by the receiver system and hence it raised exception (as mentioned in the Exception of send step.)
I will suggest you to try using Application Acknowledgment in send step. Also If you provide the steps of BPM then it will be more helpful.
Also have a look at this :
Asynchronous send step can raise exception only when
    1. Thrown when a permanent system error occurs:
    a. In the case of an asynchronous send step, the exception will only be triggered if an error occurs during the transfer to the pipeline. Errors that occur during mapping in the pipeline, do not trigger an exception.
b . In the case of a synchronous send step, the exception is also triggered by permanent system errors that occur in the pipeline or while transporting the message to or from the pipeline.

  • Sync send step in a loop step

    Hi Gurus,
I want to query a database and based on the return value I will proceed to the next step. For this I have a 'sync send' step where I am finding if the count(*) is 0 or greater than 0. If it is only '0' then only I will proceed to the next step.
For this functionality I am using a loop step with in which I have this sync send step (querying the database). The control will come out of the loop only when the count is 0.
But, I found that the response message container is not loading. That is the reason why the loop condition is always coming out as 'true'.
I want to know if I can use the send step with in a loop in BPM.
Please let me know your solutions.
    Thanks
    Kalyan

    Hi,
see the counter variable , initial value is 0 ,then the loop always true.
second thing is when you send the request for synchronously and the response message to receive step, is it correct,
if so why do you want to maintain the loop, are more messages sending the messages in seqencially /syncrounously .
I think you want to check the response interface value is it , check this correctly..
See the below links for Sync Send .

  • How to read fields from response message in send step in BPM

    Hi ,
I have one  BPM scenario where I am using synchronous send step to insert data into database and to get response back from database as success or failure .My scenario involves inserting data into multiple tables and in multiple rows . If all the inserts are successful then I want to write success message  else I want the messaage as error . So can we read all the  SQL response and store it in container varibale and the have soem decision logic ?

    Hi,
for everyinsertion, you will get a response
    <INSERT_COUNT> </INSERT_COUNT>
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/2e/96fd3f2d14e869e10000000a155106/content.htm
if the value ==1 , then insertions is sucessful, if value ==0, then insertion not succsful.
So, in your mapping, just check if any of the values is 0 and if yes, then decide if you have to write a sucess message or a failure message.

  • Synchronous Send step showing errors in process designer

    Hi All,
I have few questions in using a synchronous send step in
    BPM.
Can I use a synchronous send step without opening Sync/async bridge.
When is the sync/async bridge opened?
    Scenario:
File async --> XI (receive async) --> sync send step to J2ee application (HTTP post) --> async response send to File
    Sync Abstract Interface:
    Input:
      Message type (same as outbound)
    Response:
Message type (same as Http response)
When I use the synchronous step, I see errors in the process designer saying
Message to be sent and synchronous interface are not of the same type.  This happens for both request and response message.
    Please help me.
    Regards,
    Meher

I think the Problem is with the INTERFACE Determination.
You need a BPM for the above scenario, but not a Sync/Asynch Brindge
    In BPM
    Step 1 : Receive from File 1
Step 2 : Do Transformation from File1 format to J2EE Request Format
Step 3 :  Send a Synchronous send Step to J2EE
Step 4 :  Transform the HTTP response to your File2 Format Response
Step 5 :   Send the Response to File2
    Interface Determination
    File1 to j2ee Request
    J2ee Request/Response To  J2EE Request/Response
    J2ee Response to file 2
Please check your Interface determination very closely.

  • ** Use of 3 values in 'Receiver From' property of the BPM send step

    Hi Friends,
Still I am not clear the exact use of 'Receiver From' property of the Send step in BPM. This property is having 3 possible values: 'Send Context', 'Receivers List', & 'Response to Message'.
What's the purpose of each value ? In what situations, which value we have to use.
    Kindly clarify friends.
    Kind Regards,
    Jeg P.

    Hi,
In Send step, The message receiver can be a business system or another integration process.
To handle Receiver Determination in BPM you need these options.
    Send Context -
Send Context will be used by Receiver determination, if you will give it in Send step then accordingly receveir deteermination will process. Here the Message will go to fixed receiver
Response to message -- While dealing with Sync/async bridge you can use this option to give the Switch or Transformation step to for further response.
Receivers List -- For Runtime Receiver Determination you have to go for Receiver Lists. It will relied on the
    design of the Integration process.
For e.g you can refer to the Conditional Receiever Determination.

  • Retries in BPM Send Step

    Hello,
I wouild like to send a message using the send step in BPM to an http receiver. Requirement is, if the http server is not reachable there should be 3 retries and afterwards an error should be thrown.
How would I do this? Do I need three error handler branches, where each of those has the same send step? And then apply a 4th error handler which then terminates the process? I think there should be a simpler solution.
    What do you think?

For http receiver, you will finally receive error message in sxmb_moni (not RWB). If you have standard retry configuration in sxmb_moni, then same would be applied in this case also.

  • BPM SEND step with Acknowledgemnt.Process logic depends on Application Ack.

    Hi,
I am designing one BPM process in which I want to send IDOC to R/3.This IDOC will be processed by the R/3 system using process code.
Now I have sent this IDOC to R/3 through send step with application acknowledgment and only if acknowledgment comes then only next processing logic of the BPM process should be executed.
How should I design SEND step because the communication is asynchronous but I want the processing depending on acknowledgement only?

  • BPM Send step and acknowledge application.

I understand that we can define application for acknowledgment from SEND Step in BPM. and this acknowledge will can let me know document as I sent to R3 that posting success or not. But when I try configure with this param. I see only waiting acknowledgement in SXMB_MONI. So how I can to configure this param. Do I have to config someting on R3 side or not?
    Thanks and Regards

    Ricardo,
You would not believe me but I had the same requirement a year back.
Infact I ended up posting a thread on this on the XI forum,
    Idoc Acknowledgements and Idoc Packaging
Answering your question in 2 phases,
    1. R3 can send the AleAduit back to XI immediately. In the inbound processing code, all the R3 team would need to do is add the code to trigger the RBDSTATE report to trigger AleAudit to XI.
    2. The problem with Correlation - Well, in your case as you are using Idoc Packaging , the solution 1 in my earlier thread would not do the trick. If you look in IDX5 in XI you will see that the Idoc Packaging trigger multiple Idoc's from XI itself but again the problem is the correlation and for this there is no straight forward solution than having some custom field in the Idoc and in the corresponding response.
But yeah overall your analysis was perfect. Idoc's are used for Asynch Communications and hence trying to achieve what we are acheiving is not always and necessarily the best solution. Proxies help in these cases, and if proxies are not possible then I guess RFC is the way to go.

  • BPM: Send step with acknowledgment - Application

    Hi folks,
I’ve a simple BPM with receiver(sender file)->mapping->send(IDoc receiver). The Send step is configured with the option Acknowledge type -> Application. The scenario runs well, the IDoc is successfully processed, but my BPM remains waiting with the clock icon!!! Going to sxi_monitor, in the PE details is a step waiting for an event from R/3 with the message “Waiting for an event SEND_OK_APPLICATION type CL_SWF_XI_MESSAGE. It seams waiting for an event that R/3 didn’t send… Did I miss some steps at R/3?
The idea is to receive an ack after my IDoc is successfully processed at R/3, in order to finish the BPM.
Regarding Acknowledgment type -> Application, the sap help says:
    Wait for Acknowledgement
Specify whether the send step is to wait for an acknowledgement. To receive an acknowledgement in the send step, the receiver (adapter, business system, and so on) must send the corresponding acknowledgment.
Application - Specifies that the message was processed successfully by the receiver application (for example, ‘posted’).
I guess it should works, but maybe I'm missing something. Anyone knows how to work with this kind of ack at ccBPM?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ricardo.

  • Transport Acknowledgement in an Ansynchronous Send Step in BPM

I tried this scenario /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2006/06/22/xi-playing-with-the-file-adapters-acknowledgments for a file acknowledgement in an ansynchronous send step in BPM and it worked fine.
This made me think of something else...
    This SAP help site http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/43/65ce41ae343e2be10000000a1553f6/content.htm
says -  for a "Permanent negative acknowledgment" the "Send step triggers system error for which you can define a specific exception handling."
I understood this as saying "If the tartget file is not placed, a system error is thrown for which we can write our own exception handling"
In the scenario explained in the blog the 'deadline branch' was made to wait for a few miutes and once exceeded, made to throw an exception "NegAck" which is handled in the "Exception handler branch"
So what i tried was, I removed the 'deadline branch' and retained only the 'exception handler branch' and made the 'send step' to throw a system error "NegAck" so that if the "Send Step" recieves a negative acknowledgement, it would throw this error "NegAck" which I have handled in the "Exception Handler  Branch"
However, this did not work. Can anyone kindly explain where was my mistake?

    Dear Bharath,
    hmmm nice question...
The answer to this is....whenever you configure a async send step with "transport ack" it will never go into error..
the send step will either get a positive ack(if the file reaches correctly) or a negative ack(if there is some problem like password expires) but it will will never go into error and hence directly the control will never go to exception handler block...
    consider the cases :
    1. Async send step with transport ack and file reaches correctly : +ve ack is generated and BPM will stop
    2. Async send step with transport ack and passowrd expires : the send step will not go in error but you will get error in adapter engine(RWB) so it will keep on restarting and corresponding negative ack will keep on getting generated but here also the send step has not gone to error but the message in AE has gone into error and hence control will not pass directly to exception handler block....what you can do is keep a timelimit thru deadline branch so that after that much time control goes to exception branch...
    This should solve your problem...
do not forget to close the thread marking useful answers after your query is resolved

  • Error in send step in BPM

    Hello,
I ehanced an existing BPM where a send step sends data to a J2EE system. I inserted a switch and put the existing send step to one branche and a new send step to the otherweise-branche. The new send step interrupt with an error:

    Thank you very much

    Hi Leo,
    For a HHTP Scenario:
    DESIGN:
    1. Create DataTypes for source and Destinations. Create elements for all the text fields of your HTTP Client so that they can all be mapped into the destination file
    2. Create MessageTypes for the two datatypes.
    3. Create Message Interfaces. The One for HTTP is the sender, Asynchronous ( as no response is expected) and one for File is receiver, asynchronous.
    4. Do the mapping. It will be mostly a one to one mapping of the fields.
    5. Create the Interface Mapping.
    Configuration:
    1. Import your Business System under your Configuration Scenario.
    2. Create 2 communication channels. One for Http as a sender and one for your receiver say IDoc.
Check these links for the configuration part.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/43/64db4daf9f30b4e10000000a11466f/content.htm

    3. Do the Receiver Agreement for Idoc. HTTP doesn’t need a sender agreement.
    4. DO the Receiver Determination and Interface Determination.
Weblog which talk about the same scenario:-

aimed at explaining the sync-async bridge.. Sriram has taken http-to-file scenario as the example
    (use case) and explained it...
Check this SDN tv demo, it has detail of HTTP adapter setup.
    https://media.sdn.sap.com/SDNTV/main.asp?mediaId=107
Refer to this link for adapter settings.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/0d/5ab43b274a960de10000000a114084/frameset.htm
You should also have a HTTP client to send message to XI. In the connecting parameters to XI u have to use the URL in the pattern mentioned . U have to give all the configuration details in the URL.
If you give me your mail id or if you can mail me at [email protected], i can send you a HTTP CLIENT.....In which you need to view the source code and change the username and password to send message to XI.
