CD's skipping, burnt in iTunes

A few CDs I have burned in iTunes have skipped like crazy when played. I've tried multiple CDs, multiple CD players, multiple files, there's no consistancy except that they were made on my computer. Does anyone have any ideas? My next step is to send it to Apple.

The first CD I ever made with iTunes did this.
I have an external CDRW/DVDRW so I haven't used the internal one since - I only use the internal one for reading.
What you should do is mark that CD and bring it with your computer to an apple store to show them the write problem. They will probably replace the super drive.
I have yet to do so, but I have the CD I made and when I bring my MBP in for its various problems I will bring that one up as well.

    Hello, bisco,
This forum is for questions from people who administer iTunes U sites. You'll be most likely to get help with this issue if you ask in the iTunes or iPod forums.
    Regards.

  • Batt went dead, recharge. Now ipod skips over only itunes songs

Hello and thanks for taking the time to read my problem. My laptop has now had multiple hard drive crashes. 4 to be exact. This last time around I have not downloaded itunes again. My ipod had all my previously purchased music on it as well as copied from CD's. Well the ipod sat for a while and the battery went dead. I recharged the battery and the ipod skips over the itunes songs but not those copied from CD's. Can this be fixed?
I don't want to download itunes and reconnect the ipod because the ipod is already on 4 different hard drives(that no longer exist). I would prefer a different media player than itunes. Any compatible with ipod?
    Thanks.

Authorize your iTunes then sync the iPod.

    Would you explain?
iPods are not on or linked to hard drives in anyway.

If you have DRM protected songs, no.

  • Skipping songs on itunes

Hello! I have a Dell Latitude D600. I have had itunes for Windows for nearly a year and had no problems. Then a month ago, my hard drive crashed and was replaced. I have reinstalled most of the programs that were lost, including itunes.
Now, however, the itunes songs (doesn't matter if I bought them from the itunes store or if I downloaded them from a CD) skip if have anything else running other than a single webpage. This is very new, as I used to be able to run lots of things without itunes skipping.
Memory shouldn't be the problem. I actually just updated my RAM a month before the hard drive crashed. I look on CPU usage on Windows Task Manager, and I am rarely using more than 20% of the CPU. Itunes is the most recent version available.
Is there some setting on my computer that I need to fix?
    Thank you!

The most likely cause of this would be on-demand virus scanning. I've had to set an exception in F-Secure on my PC to leave my 220 GB of FLAC files alone to solve this problem. If you have a large music library, I would look into the settings for your virus scanner and see if it helps to exclude files with the relevant extensions (MP3, M4A, M4P, etc.).
If you schedule or manually carry out virus scans on your PC, then just make sure that you enable your virus scanner to scan all files.

  • Ipod mini skips over downloaded itunes songs only

after downloading songs from itunes, the ipod mini skips over the songs after playing them 3 or 4 times

Make sure you have the newest version of iTunes and iPod Updater, and do a restore with the Updater and resync the songs via iTunes.
Generally skipping purchased songs are related to out of date software and updating and restoring or reputting them back on seems to help.

  • How can I stop the screen skipping whilst using itunes!?

Okay, after some spending some time using it, I am finally starting to get the hang of using itunes.
However, when I am listening to a song, and then scroll up or down to edit another song, when the song that I am listening finishes, and plays the song next to it, the screen skips down to that song in the list so I loose my place. This is somewhat irritating. Is there any way that I can stop this from happening?
    Thanks.

    Anybody?

  • Songs skips after latest itunes update

    Hello guys,
I've just updated Itunes at the beginning of March and after that start noticing weird things going on with my Ipod classic. The other day I wanted to repeat a song  played and clicked back to return to it, the screen showed that this song started playing, however the song i could hear is the next song on the playlist. when i clicked back and forward, all went to normal. Minutes after I decided to choose another playlist and when I tried to leave the other playlist to the main menu, the screen got frozen for about several seconds.
Then after a week, today I've downloaded an album of songs and put it on my Ipod. Then I decided to play, but the songs in this album did not play, it just skipped the songs. I decided to check other albums, and the result was the same, I clicked the song and it just stayed at 00:00 and didn't play. However, then I went to one folder with just one song and it played all right. I decided to restore Ipod. When it turned back on, everything was back to normal.
I have this Ipod for about two years, and had no problems with it at all. I have it in the case, and the only accident I can remember is when I accidentally banged it on my desk, but it's in a good case..
I fear there may be some hard disk issues, but have suspicions that all these problems are associated with the latest release of itunes. Any ideas, or maybe there're some of those who experienced the same thing lately? Thanks!

Try this Hard Reset, (it wont delete any song or data on your iPod), from time to time to clear the cache.
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.
Here is the Apple support Article on the 5Rs

If it doesn't work, bring it in to Apple Store for the Genius to have a look.

  • Playback Skipping Problems with iTunes 7.3 or later - Resource Hog?

Audio playback on my computer was fine on all versions of iTunes upto and including version 7.2. The problem started when Apple released iTunes 7.3 (for the iPhone - which I don't have). Audio playback was fine if iTunes was the only program running. But if I was also using another program - like a simple 3d game or even just using the lasso tool in Photoshop - then playback sk..sk..skipped constantly. So I closed iTunes and tested my music library on Windows Media Player 11 with other programs running and audio playback was consistently good - no skipping at all. But I'd rather not use Windows Media Player if iTunes can work properly! I suspected that iTunes 7.3 had become a resource hog. When iTunes 7.4.2 was released I was hoping that the problem would be solved. It wasn't. So I uninstalled iTunes 7.4.2, re-installed iTunes 7.2 (the last version that worked) and audio playback (with other programs running) is great again. So I don't think the problem has arisen from installing any other programs. My question is : WHAT THE **** HAVE APPLE DONE TO iTUNES since version 7.2?! Please help, because I don't want to be stuck with this version and never be able to update!

  • Really annoying 'skipping' problem with itunes

    Hi
I have recently purchased a new laptop running vista (an HP pavillion 2550) I transfered all my music over from my desktop to use on the move. The trouble is now all the somgs seem to skip at regular intervals. I have never had this on itunes on other PCs and other music players such as windows MP does not do it the the music on the laptop.
Has anyone had this problem- and how on earth do I fix it? It also happens in Quicktime with video.
I can't listen to it because it is so annoying in the middle of the song! It is itunes 8.0.1.11
    Any help greatly appreciated!

Hmmm...come on then Apple where is a solution to this? I have serached on the topic and loads of people are having the same issue. I am going to ditch itunes for a media player that does not skip (i.e. any other one!)
COuld do with an answer to this....

  • How do i fix the skipping audio on itunes 10.7. after update

After updating itunes to 10.7 all of my music will randomly skip or become choppy. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how this can be fixed ?

If you run Windows Media Player does it have those tracks? WMP is a likely candidate and may have moved the tracks where it wants them to be. If so I can offer some advice on how to get WMP to leave your iTunes library alone and some scripts to repair the damage.

  • Songs skip BADLY on iTunes w/ other programs

Guys, I just got an iPod recently and so have begun using iTunes instead of windows media player out of neccessity. I have one major problem with it: songs skip very badly when using other programs. This ranges from high performance games to simply surfing the internet with firefox. Basically I can only listen to songs when not using the computer for anything else or suffer the consequences. I cant imagine this happens to everyone or no one would use the software...theres so many times I want to listen to music while doing things. Also, my computer is not slow...I have plenty of memory and processing power so that is not the problem. Windows Media Player had always worked fine for me...what is wrong with iTunes?
    PLEASE HELP!!!

    moraleclipse,
iTunes uses Quicktime, which uses DirectX/DirectSound for playback.
This article suggests some possible causes of conflict in that process, and steps that can be taken to try and resolve it.

  • Songs skipping automatically in iTunes Radio

I have an iPad 2, and i subscribe to iTunes match.  On my iPad only, songs on any station just skip automatically, before they can even start to play.  I've tried shutting down iTunes, and performing a hard restart of the ipad.  Sometimes, I can play one song at first, then it jumps to skip-skip-skip mode.  The only thing that seems to stop the skipping/fast forwarding is the station id phrase on some of the pre-created stations like "This is the LA Rock Scene from the '60s and '70s".  This happens only on my iPad, not my iPhone or my MBP.  What gives?

Ok here's a solution that I found, basically you have to reset your iPhone or iPad by holding power and home until it goes black and the Apple logo comes up. Then go into Settings-iCloud and REMOVE your account from there. Next remove the iTunes account too. Now connect to a wifi (this is quite critical) and reinsert your icloud and iTunes data. Now go again into settings and icloud and disable calendars and reenable it (you MUST see a spinner saying turning off/on calendar). Once you're done go into Music app and go to iTunes Radio and hit start listening. Done, no more skipping!

  • Skip counts in iTunes not registering

For the past month or so, iTunes does not register skipped songs on my iPhone or iPad when I sync. All are latest software versions. Skip counts register when I skip a song in iTunes and play counts register on all devices. This makes most of my smart playlists pointless. Any ideas? Thanks.

Which particular Windows OS are you using, Goderic? XP, Vista or 7?

  • Dropouts and skipping occur in iTunes. Please help.

I have an iMac in my home office that I use wirelessly with a stereo in the same room with no problems. When I try to stream my iTunes to a stereo in another room using a 2nd airport express OR when I share my iTunes library with the Mac Mini in that second room, I get skips and dropouts when I play tunes. The whole system was working flawlessly until one of the updates(I forgot which) and has never been the same since. I have read and tried everything I can find on the support database to no avail. I am out of ideas and find the Mac Mini I bought for the second room mentioned above for sharing my music to be completely worthless. Please.....somebody help me if you can.

    hiya!
I wanted to know if when I buy my new ipod, can I use my account that I use currently for my 20gig?
yes you can. attractive beast and mauve both connect to the same itunes library, download the same purchased songs, and so forth.
