CDR for translation patterns (DIDs)?

We have some "legacy" DID numbers -- they enter Call Manager where a translation pattern sends them to the current, new number.
Is there someplace the call detail records I can find how often a particular DID (or particular translation pattern) was actually used? If these numbers are no longer in use, we could drop them when we switch carriers in the next month or so.

Although there is no translation information in the CDRs, there is a service parameter which supposedly puts extra information into the traces.
Digit Analysis Complexity : This parameter allows the user to toggle between two modes; that is, StandardAnalysis and TranslationAndAlternatePatternAnalysis. The TranslationAndAlternatePatternAnalysis mode gives information about the Translation pattern and the Alternate matches in the CCM Traces while finding a match for a pattern. The valid values for this field follow:
-- StandardAnalysis
-- TranslationAndAlternatePatternAnalysis
This is a required field.
Default: StandardAnalysis.

    I´m trying to make a translation pattern for a route pattern to add a * or a # in the end of the number I'm dialing for example the route pattern is 9.0414XXXXXXX and I want to change to XXXXXXX*. If I dial 904141309131 I see in the phone 4130913*. It seem to be taking a 4 that belong to the 0414 and it is eliminating the las number that in this example is 1. To me the number that I must see when the translation is made is 1309131* and not 4130913*. Is this the way it shoul be done?

  • Translation patterns - best practice

    We have 300 DIDs from our telco.    Currently, only 150 are in use.   If a call comes thru for a non-asigned number, I would like to set-up a call handler that states the number is a non-working number that belongs to the company and then give options for contacting the correct person.      Also, when a person leaves the company I am currenly forawarding the number to the operator but I would also like to make these numbers part of the call handler.
    My question is this - what is the best way to set this up?    I currently am removing the number from the directory numbers and setting up a translation pattern to point the number to an end point such as the operator.    Is this the best thing to do?    I would like to know what is considered to be "best practice" in keeping the phone system as clean as possible.

    I would setup a catch-all scenario with a translation to a CTIRP that would forward to VM and hit the Call handler you desire.  For example if you had the DIDs 212-555-1000 thru 212-555-1299 i would first setup a non-DID CTI RP that matches your call handler dtmf (e.g. 7999 if you use 4 digit extensions).  the CTI RP for 7999 would forward to VM and then the Call Handler with DTMF of 7999 would play your message that number is not in use.
    Then setup a translation for 212-555-1[012]xx that translates to 7999.
    This wildcard match would not route the call if there was a more specific match present within the Calling Search Space for the Gateway.  So if extension 1050 was present it would route to that phone, but if extension 1051 was a terminated or unused number it would not be present and therefore the call would hit the translation and be routed to the "number not in use" call handler.
    I think this is what you are after, a way to minimize the translations and not have to keep track of individual numbers.  Of course modify the length of the translations if you are not routing based on 10 digits.

  • Translation Pattern digit problem

    We have created a translation pattern (6925) which allows our users to call an internal number in order for them to get routed out to their external helpdesk via the PSTN (908456016925). Initially this didnt work as the translation patter number of 6925 did not have the correct Calling Search Space to get routed out of the voice gateway.
    That is now fixed however every time you dial 6925 you get a dead tone when dialling the number 2. If you press 5 immediately the call routes to the translation pattern and out to the helpdesk. This is not ideal as many users are putting the phone down when they get the dead tone as they think the number is incorrect.
    I have checked our dial plan route plan report and can confirm that no other device etc has been allocated a number beginning with 692.
    I've also created another translation patter (6935) to the same PSTN number and this works fine ie no dead tone when I dial the digit '3'. In fact I have tested 3,4,5 etc and they are fine its just 692.
    Any help would be appreciated.......

    My first step would be to remove the 6925 translation from CM.  Once removed, I would try dialing 6925 to see what happens, knowing full well that it should not work.  If there are any other patterns or devices beginning with 69 it should fail after pressing the 2 since there is nothing that matches.  I would then add the 6925 translation back in and test again.  Let us know!

    You can try to check in CDR for the Called Party number (Original and Final) if they match the Translation pattern or the Called Party Transformed number (using Mask or Prefix).

    Hello guys,
    Our new branch in NY has the DIDs in the range 40XX. The extensions in Our HQ in Boston are in the range 79XX. I asked telco to route those NY DIDs(40XX) to the Boston PRI but they say it wouldn't be possible before 30 days. I am in a big trouble and need to make this happen today. We have some extra DIDs in the range 75XX that we are not using them for now. My idea is to ask telco to map those 40XX DIDs to 75XX DIDs in Boston and use Translation Pattern in CCM to route the incoming calls to NY.
    Long story short,
    The caller will dial 21279840XX. The Telco will map the 40XX to 75XX and will send it to our Gateway in Boston. I configure a dial-peer with destination-pattern 75.. and the session target <<CCM IP Address>>. The digits represented to CCM will be in the ragne 75XX. By creating some Translation Pattern, I will remap the 75XX to 40XX and send it to NY (On Net). The 40XX extensions are already configured in the CCM. Could you please let me know if this is possible and how can I make this happen in the CCM. Do I need to creat any new dialpeer in the gateway for 75XX extensions?

    Just like you said all you need to do is create a TP that translates 75XX to 40XX, so here is what you do:
    Create a new TP 75XX, under transform called number enter 40XX, make sure that the parition assigned to this TP is included in the GW CSS, also make sure that the CSS assigned to this TP has access to the phone's partition. That's it!
    There are other options, such as creating translation rule or num-exp on the GW, but the TP is the easiest.

  • Creating multiple translation patterns CUCM 8.5

    Good day all,
    I need to assign an employee a DID number. The problem is that he is in another state and I've only been able to ascertain that our translation pattern is setup for our state and area code. So how would I go about setting up a translation pattern for his area code? Would I need to create another dial peer?
    Example:
    Our translation pattern is 972934XXXX
    I need one that is 770XXXXXXX
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Tariq.
    Is that employee's phone registered on the same cluster?
    Is your provider passing 770XXXXXXX DID to your VG?
    If yes, you can create a translation pattern on CUCM translating the DID with different area code into desired extensions.

  • Translation pattern question

    Good afternoon - I had an urgent request to forward a number out of our DID pool to a satellite phone, which I was attempting to do with a translation pattern. When that didn't work, I tried setting that DID up as a regular DN, but not assigning it to a phone, and configuring the CFWALL to forward to the international number, making sure the cfw partition is set to all international calls.... Is there an easy way to do this? Other than configuring that number on a phone of course and doing a good old-fashioned CFWall.

    Yes, I ensured that I had the correct CSS and number mask. As a quick fix, I put an extension on the employees phone, and created a temporary cfw CSS with international calling capabilities and forwarded all calls to the satellite phone number.

  • "Device Pin not set in TransConfig.xml.for translator RimBB" message when I try to sync my BBZ10 with Outlook Calendar and Contacts

    Hello, Does anyone know how I can sync my BBZ10 with my computers Outlook Calendar and Contacts? It was working but since my computer returned from being repaired it doesn't sync and gives me the following message
    "Device Pin not set in TransConfig.xml.for translator RimBB"

    I did resolve it, it was so long ago but here's what I suggest:
    -First remove the software on your computer by going to the add/remove programs if you're using a PC. If you're using Mac, I'm not sure where you go. 
    -Then go to BB website and download the correct program for you phone
    -Check both your phone and computer have all their updates
    With the newest updates I have no trouble syncing my calendar/contacts from my PC to my BB and vice versa. It was just initially when the BB was so new they hadn't updated the programs. Over time the fixed the glitch, this is why I recommend you remove the program you have and start over, it will probably fix itself.

  • Translation pattern not matching

    I am configuring a cucm 4.2 (yes i know its obsolete) integration with Lync 2010 and am having issues with a translation pattern.
    The Lync server is sending me 86xxxxxxxxxx for calls within china and will send 61xxxxxxxx for australia (strips the +)
    I have configured a [^86]! which should match any international numbers (other than China) and be prefixed and sent to the gateway. Here is the wiered thing I can dial +44xxxxxxxxxx using my lync client which proves that this is matching (when i delete the translation the call will fail).
    But when i dial a number like +61xxxxxxxx it doesnt get through and i get
    Cisco CallManagerDigit analysis: match(pi="1",fqcn="", cn="removedbymyself", plv="5", pss="LYNC:PT_Reception", TodFilteredPss="LYNC:PT_Reception", dd="61xxxxxxxx ",dac="0")
    Cisco CallManagerDigit analysis: potentialMatches=NoPotentialMatchesExist" on the traces.
    The LYNC partition has the translation rules. and the CSS assigned to the sip trunk has access to it. the CSS configured in the translation rules is the also the one assigned to the sip trunk.
    Anyone see this sort of thing before? how can i check if there is another transformation taking place?
    Only way i get round is to put a translation patter for " ! " and it works for all international calls.

    Hi,
    Have you tried testing the call with Dialed Number Analyzer? I find that's a fantastic and often-overlooked tool for this kind of issue. If DNA shows the call will not route, it's probably a CSS issue for the Stafford gateway. If DNA shows the call will route, then it's probably a dial-peer issue on the Stafford gateway.

  • Translation Pattern report

    Is there a way to generate a translation pattern report? We have a quite a few translation pattern entries and trying to copy each one onto a spreadsheet would really be time comsuming. I've searched and cannot find anything, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction or may have a suggestion other than copying and pasting. Thanks

  • Translation Pattern - X wildcard not working.

    I am trying to translate any calls from a certain CSS to extension 4900-4999 to a single extension (8114). I tried using 49XX as the
    Translation Pattern, 8114 as the Called Party Transform Mask, and the partiton for this is the first in the CSS list. This is not working...it just calls directly to the dialed extention (4950), but if I change the Translation Pattern to 4950 it works just fine (goes to 8114 like desired). The partition 4950 is located in is halfway down the list in the CSS. Is there a particular reason the X wildcard is not working in this instance?

    Everything is working as expected based on your configuration, CUCM uses best match routing.
    I can already tell your CSS has access to both, 4950 and 49XX, thus,it's all working fine.
    4950 is one match
    49XX 100 matches
    4950 is the best match.
    CSS order only matters when there's 2 or more patterns with the same number of matches. Only THEN, which CSS is on top, will matter.
    You need to remove access to the DNs directly and leave only the TP.

  • How can a structured frame be used for translating books to foreign languages?

    I keep reading about how a structured approach can improve the translation process (from english to foreign languages), however, i can't seem to find specifics about a particular method or tutorials about how to go about it (specifically). My question is, how (specifically) can structured framemaker be used for translation from english to foreign languages?  Links to tutorials on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    A well organized XML based project will definitely save translation costs. There are many advantages to the XML approach to translation management including:
    Almost zero DTP rework costs - make the EDD/Template do all of the work!
    Translation is application version independent - no need to wait for the Translation Memory/CMS system vendor to support the latest version of FrameMaker.

And I have consulted/supported a lot of customers after those consultants left the stage. I always hear more or less the same from all of those clients. No question, I hear a lot of arguments for working with XML in tech doc, most of the arguments you mention included. Most of the tech writers are happy with the new structured FrameMaker and enjoy writing. And, cross your heart: Finally there's no alternative to XML in the long term if you take your tech writer job seriously. No question – working with pure XML in a professional information architecture in a structured, guiding editing environment like FrameMaker is cool, fun, faster and produces more open, more accessible, more reusable, more reliable, more consistent, in a nutshell: more valuable data.
    But what I have never ever heard, and I'm talking about several hundred companies, is: We save more money on translation now. You might imagine that this is surprising me since many years. This is why I always ask: Did you save any costs in your translation projects? Surprisingly the answer is always: No. Actually some – no, wait: many – tell me, that their translation agency even charges more now, because they have a lot of new costs:
    Costs, to customize their translation memory system to the clients custom xml,
    costs to follow badly or not documented changes in the client's xml structure (DTD/Schema changes) in the TMS,
    costs because of more engineering work like 
    valididating xml in advance,
    fixing invalid xml exports,
    fixing invalid translations due to – sometimes massively – increased amount of tag errors because of tagging differences of "old" (legacy mif) and "new" (xml) tags,
    dealing with just too big XML files that need to be carefully split, so that the TMS has a chance to read it, or alternatively:
    "glue" the ten-thousand xml "snippets" to more handy chunks,
    project managers and translators that need to do additional checks, validations, verifyings - and often not knowing what to do with those cryptic error messages, meaning additional support costs
    Of course, many if no all of these and many other problems I did not mention here can be solved. And many are not exactly system immanent problems but communication problems (like introducing or renaming elements/attributes but not documenting this and not communicating this to the translation service provider) or would apply to any system change (e.g. also when switching from Word to Frame). However, I do not know of any single translation company on this planet (and I know virtually thousands of them from countries all over the world) that reduced the price per word for just a single pence, just because the client switched over from Word/Quark/FrameMaker/InDesign/Whatever to XML.
    Just ask your translation service provider: Will you charge me less per word if I send you XML instead of MIF? I would really be surprised to hear a "yes". And frankly, if you have ever compared a professional FrameMaker document with the same document in xml format in a professional system like Trados: There is actually no difference that would justify any price difference. The text is the same, the amount of words identical, the number of tags is identical, it even looks identical in the translation system (I can post screenshots if you like). From the translation perspective there is no single reason why a translator should charge a single pence less.
    So, it's a modern myth, that switching to xml reduces translation costs. That might be true, if you come from a really medieval documentation szenario with MS Word or the like, with manual formatting without any styles and so on (I see tech docs every day where even the TOC is typed in manually!!!) and swith from there to a modern structured xml authoring in combination with other supporting tools like authoring memory / authoring assistance, controlled language, translation memory and terminology managent and control, snippet based content management and so on. That will increase the consistency and quality of your data, which will reduce translation costs in the long term. But the truth is: This has nothing to do with XML per se, but with professional writing and professional management.
    So, what's left in the money saving story? No more DTP in the target languages? I always hear, that with XML and FrameMaker you do not have to "format" the translated document. The truth is: If you have a professionally formatted (unstructured) document, you don't have to take care of it, too. Modern tools like Trados keep 100% of the formatting 100% correct in the translated document. If the underlying template is intelligent enough to take account of text amount changes due to longer translations, and if you don't have too many local formatting overrides, the DTP is actually zero and can be reduced to a few mintes/hours for "flying" of the document to check out for unexpeted problems wich can occure in both structured and unstructured documents.
    Just to give some numbers on this: We are processing every day technical documentations for a quite big company. A typical documentation from them is about 250 pages in unstructured FrameMaker 9 (source language is English). Until now they were resistent to all my XML pushing. The Documentation is based on a straight, simple template (with our help "reduced to the max") and there are no formatting overrides (a script automatically checks this). The post translation Quality Assurance effort is - depending on the target language - usually something between 1 to 4 hours – that's a few seconds per page for the languages where already a lot of past Quality Assurance Steps went back into the Translation Memories and up to a minute per page for more "problematic" languages).
    So, again: XML will not save you a single pence on translations. But it might help you to produce more open, more accessible, more reusable, more reliable, more consistent, in a nutshell: more valuable data. But if you already have properly set up (ustructured) FrameMaker Documents and already work with a professional translation memory system, you will be quite disappointed to learn, that the impressive money saving promises you recently saw on that great PowerPoint slides melt down to a few bucks over a couple of years.

  • Need help Creating a translation pattern that adds dial out digits to incoming calls

    I came across an article yesterday and it showed the steps how to fix Missed Call/Received Call numbers so that you can dial them from the menu correctly (auto-add a 9, etc.)?
    I tried it this morning and came up with this translation pattern:
    voice translation-rule 6
    rule 1 /^201\(.*\)/ /8\1/
    rule 2 /\(..........\)/ /81\1/
    voice translation-profile filter_Incoming
    translate calling 6
    This translation pattern rule 1 adds the dial out character 8 and strips 201 for local calls. Rule 2 adds dial out character 8 and adds 1 for long distance.  The purpose of this translation rule is when the ephone receives the phone call the characters 8 and 1 are added so when you quickly need to redial you do not have to edit the number and add 8 for each call.
    I tested the translation-rule:

    Issue is I am not sure with my inbound call leg if it can even work. We dial out through the SIP Trunk and the incoming is translated to the AutoAttendant on Cisco Unity Express.

    The dial-peer 9 that you have attached will not be affected by following config

    Because you have not applied the translation profile "filter_incoming" on the dial-peer.
    Could you please provide the exact call flow?
    Along with that, If you are facing issue with calls on SIP Trunk, please collect following debugs in a logging buffer and attach the file. I will analyse it and will get back to you.

  • Using SQL to update Translation Patterns in CUCM 9.1

    I have approximately 400 translation patterns that I have exported from one CUCM 9.1 system that I want to import into another CUCM 9.1 system as this will save me lots of work.
    I have done this and the import was successful but when I look at the Translation Patterns in CUCM admin the value for
    Discard Digits under Called Party Transformations is shown as < None > where it should be PreDot.
    Oddly when I export the Translation Patterns from the CUCM cluster to which I have just imported them the value shown in the csv file is PreDot
    I was wondering whether it would be possible to change the value for Discard Digits using SQL. Despite reading Bill Bell's helpful blog series I am struggling to work out how to do this.
    The basic operation I want to do is described below:
    Update Discard Digits to PreDot for all Translation Patterns that start with 90.
    Can anyone help me with this?

    Thank you for the answer, in my case I only need to distribute LSCs to the phones for 802.1x authentication. As far as I understand, it is possible to just update the CTL file with Cisco CTL Client utility.
