CE 7.1 Ehp1 SP5 on Oracle 10.2.0.4 Performance - XSS track import of SCAs

Hi,
I'm currently building a new track on my newly built CE server which has the NWDI capability configured. I've had a few problems importing the SCA files into the track. I've been getting DTR internal server errors. Looking through the logs I couldn't see a specific reason as per OSS 774339 and the subsequent notes this refers to. After restarting the CE server I've imported the SCA files individually and this has at least enabled me to get the SCA files imported without error.
The time taken to import is very long - the ESS SCA file (290 MB) took 3.5 hours alone.
I've read OSS 1361525 which is related to DTR performance with Oracle but the Patch provided is for 7.01 / 7.02 releases of CE.
I have already patched my CE 7.1 Ehp1 SP5 server with the available patches for DICMS05, DICLIENTS05 & DICBS05* - there is none current available for download for the DIDTR05* CE 7.1 Ehp1 release.
Can anyone suggest what could be done to reduce the import runtimes ?.
I'm regularly updating the Oracle Statistics as per OSS 1229080 and the Oracle params have been set as per OSS 830576.
Regards,
Brian.

Hi Ervin,
1. The NWDI Server is a distributed configuration - the DB instance is on it's own Solaris 10 zone and the central services & instance are on another Solaris zone. Both zones have plenty CPU/Memory resources and the load values on both are low. The systems are not overloaded.
2. THis is a new build and I'm setting up the first track to enable the customer to start a XSS development project. The first 10 or so SCs imported without error into the track. ESS, MSS & PCUI_GP SCA files are the ones remaining and are failing to import.
3. Our OS is Solaris 10 on Sun Sparc - so no windows type anti-virus software to contend with.
4. I've run the statistics a few times over the last day or so :-
brconnect -u / -c -o summary -f stats -o SAPSR3DB -t all -p 8 -f nocasc
5. Trace levels are default.
6. The logs & traces have no OutOfMemory errors as per OSS 1001502. The error received is :-
20100908171424 Info   :Starting Step CBS-make at 2010-09-08 17:14:24.0632 +1:00
20100908171425 Info   :wait until CBS queue of buildspace S01_Sandbox_D is completely processed, before starting the import
20100908171425 Info   :CBS queue of buildspace S01_Sandbox_D is completely processed. Starting the import now.
20100908181425 Fatal  :CBS throws exception during activation:

The interesting thing here is that the error is thrown exactly one hour after the CBS-make operation starts.
7. We've got Oracle DB.
Hopefully you'll be able to suggest how best I can resolve the error and continue.
Also - from the logs there was further error activity for this same import operation 3 hours later after I'd gone home  :-

    Hi Milos,
    The problem is with the starting of the SCS instance by sapinst, on AIX the port that we used (SAP default) 3901 during the input step for SCS was in usage at AIX by some application
    nimsh 3901/tcp # NIM Service Handler
    nimsh 3901/udp # NIM Service Handler
    I had to free up the port for some time, stop processes running on the port and then continued with my installation. After the installation was complete, I changed the port number of SCS to 3601 and gave the port back to AIX application.
    Beaware that you have to change the port number is various places, including Config tool, all the JSPM, Configtool properties
    Check if this helps to resolve your problem, else I will have to recollect if I resolved it differently.

    Nilesh

  • Upgrade Enterprise Portal from EHP1 SP5 to EHP2 SP7

    How do we upgrade from  EHP1 SP5 to EHP2 SP7 ?
    Can we do that directly from JSPM or i should go with ehpi ?
    Just download all the files of EHP2 SP7 to EPS/in directlry and start JSPM ?
    or
    Upgrade EHP1 to SP5 then run PREPARE tasks from the DVD's then apply the SP's.
    Let me know your thoughts.
    Thanks

    Hi Markus,
    I've upgraded Standalone JAVA stack from EHP1 -> EHP2 and basically, what EHPI did was just call up JSPM and perform the upgrade. Therefore, is feasible to upgrade standalone JAVA system via JSPM, of cos generate XML with MOPZ.
    also, from sap note 1472520:
    8. Question: Can I use JSPM for applying EHPs on JAVA only systems?
    Answer:
    Yes. On Java standalone systems it makes more sense using JSPM as a standalone tool using 'support package stack' option instead of running EHPI. Whereas on dual stack (ABAP + Java systems) you have to use EHPI with the exception of Solution Manager systems (see SAP note 1245473 for SolMan EHP installations).
    Cheers,

  • JTA with WLS 8.1 sp5 and Oracle 10.1.0.4

    Hi,
              I am testing a global transaction involving two EJBs (stateless session beans) running on two separate WebLogic servers. Each ejb calls an Oracle stored procedure against a different datbase. One ejb is deployed on one server the other one on the second server.
              I want to know if it is mandatory to set up a trust relationship between the two servers. The reason I ask is that it seems the transaction is working without it (with the SecurityIdentity automatically downgraded to 'anonymous').
              However it only seems to consistently work between certain servers and randomly failing when using a different pair of servers.
              Thanks

              Ok, you should make sure you're using consistent SecurityInteropMode settings
              on the different servers. Trust is only needed if the servers are on different
              domains otherwise trust is not needed. We made many changes to correct a downgrade
              issue on different subsystems JTA, JMS, EJB in 81sp6. There is a patch
              available for 81sp5 for this.

  • URGENT: Migrating from SQL to Oracle results in very poor performance!

    *** IMPORTANT, NEED YOUR HELP ***
    Dear, I have a banking business solution from Windows/SQL Server 2000 to Sun Solaris/ORACLE 10g migrated. In the test environment everything was working fine. On the production system we have very poor DB performance. About 100 times slower than SQL Server 2000!
    Environment at Customer Server Side:
    Hardware: SUN Fire 4 CPU's, OS: Solaris 5.8, DB Oracle 8 and 10
    Data Storage: Em2
    DB access thru OCCI [Environment:OBJECT, Connection Pool, Create Connection]
    Depending from older applications it's necessary to run ORACLE 8 as well on the same Server. Since we have running the new solution, which is using ORACLE 10, the listener for ORACLE 8 is frequently gone (or by someone killed?). The performance of the whole ORACLE 10 Environment is very poor. As a result of my analyse I figured out that the process to create a connection to the connection pool takes up to 14 seconds. Now I am wondering if it a problem to run different ORACLE versions on the same Server? The Customer has installed/created the new ORACLE 10 DB with the same user account (oracle) as the older version. To run the new solution we have to change the ORACLE environment settings manually. All hints/suggestions to solve this problem are welcome. Thanks in advance.
    Anton

    On the production system we have very poor DB performanceHave you identified the cause of the poor performance is not the queries and their plans being generated by the database?
    Do you know if some of the queries appear to take more time than what it used to be on old system? Did you analyze such queries to see what might be the problem?
    Are you running RBO or CBO?
    if stats are generated, how are they generated and how often?
    Did you see what autotrace and tkprof has to tell you about problem queries (if in fact such queries have been identified)?

    ,          pact.activity_dateI sent a request off to my IT department (specifically asking for the explain plan and tkprof, as described in the [main post on this topic|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=501834] ), and they replied with a screen shot of the 'explain plan' the tool they use (Toad) provides.
    !http://temp-sample.webs.com/explain_plan.jpg!
    I don't know if anyone can help me based off this, since I know it's not really what the main post says to provide, but it's all I was given.
    My IT department also made a few changes to my original query (see below) and told me it got rid of one of the full scans of the PACT table, but they aren't sure why it helped, and I have to say I'm suspect of any fixes where it's not understood why it helped.

    Hi,
    Well, let's see.
    You get 156 rows returned using IN and 121 rows using exists.
    You need identify the 'missing records' and conclude if that's correct or not, I'm not able to do that from remote, without knowing your data or system.
    It would be helpful if we could see cost and cardinalities, you (or your IT dept.) can get them easily be running the queries from your SQL*Plus prompt.
    Type
    SET AUTOTRACE TRACEONLYbefore running the queries.
    That gives you the explain plan and additional statistics (sorts in memory and sorts to disk).
    Since you use a group by, and you're on 8i can you also post results of these queries:
    select banner from v$version;
    select name, value, isdefault from v$parameter where name like '%area%';Finally, does below query give you a different plan?
    select oord.part_nbr

    - Have a look at metalink note 3951017.8 for a possible fix
    - Check that your interconnect is properly configured
    - Try running the query with PARALLEL hint. This would mean doing disk I/O instead of buffer & interconnect I/O.
    edit: changed "without NOPARALLEL" to "with PARALLEL"

  • ** JDBC Receiver - Oracle Stored Procedure - Large Records - Performance

    Hi friends,
    In my File to JDBC scenario, I use Oracle SP. I designed my target structure as mentioned in help.sap.com. In this scenario, the Sender file sends large no. of records, we have to update those records in the Oracle table. As per this requirement, I did mapping. I tested one file with 4 records. In SXMB_MONI, mapping works fine. I have given below the target payload. The message is processed successfully. (Still I have not created SP in database I am unable to check for the updating of records in the table).
    My doubt is
    1) Whether the target payload is correct ?
    2) For each <STATMENT> tag, Will XI establish connectivity to JDBC and update the record ? If it is, in real time if we send large no. of records, ex: 50 thousand records, performance isssu will come or not?
    3) How to solve the problem as said in point 2. (LookUp procedure etc)
    Kindly reply friends. (If you  have faced this problem ... kindly reply how to solve this issue)
    Target Payload:

    Thanking You.
    Kind Regards,
    Jegathees P.

    Hi,
    The structure should be -
    <MsgType Name>
    <StatementName>
    <storedProcedureName action = "EXECUTE">
    <table>
    <List of Parameters isInput = "true" type = "STRING">
    Map the table node to the stored procedure name.
    Also,
    For each statement, XI would make a database call. For better performance, do not check the button in CC - Open a new connection to database for each message.
    Also another solution would be, collect all the data in the mapping to a comma or a pipe separated string in the mapping and have the statement node created only once. This way, though you have 5000 records, they all will be given to the SP in one DB call. you can also manage the mapping so that you will not send more the the X number of records to database in a single call. We are using an XML created in code in an UDF for this. The SP has to take care of stripping the comma or pipe separated values or the XML sent as a string input parameter.
