  • When will Runtime.totalMemery() being increased?

    When will Runtime.totalMemery() being increased?
Is it when there is not enough memory even after gc or when there is some threshold to reach?
When it increases, how much will it be increased? e.g. by 50% or by a fixed amount or by the amount needed?

A single JVM will only use as much memory as you tell it to. This is a parameter that you give to the JVM on the command line when it starts.
To see them all, run Java -X, this also provides help for all the commands.
The one that you are interested in is -Xmx
which is the maximum amount of heap that java will use.

  • When playing games on facebook, I often get the message "virtual memory too low, is being increased" Is there something I can do to clean out the "virtual memory" to avoid this?

As mentioned in my question above, it happens usually during playing games. I wondered if there were someway to clean out the virtual memory, as opposed to it "increasing" continually and overloading my memory in general. You are speaking with a computer novice for the most part, so I am unfamiliar with a lot. I do do updates and general maintenance on the computer, but is that enough for this issue?

Physical memory is the memory that is installed on your computer as real memory. To be able to run programs that require more memory and more programs at the same time (via time sharing and task switching) it is also possible to move (swap) currently not needed code and data to disk to make room for other programs and data. The total memory available for programs is the Virtual Memory.
You can check the Virtual Memory settings here: Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance > Settings (Advanced tab)<br />
Windows can manage more memory then is physical available and that memory is stored in a page file on your hard drive.
If the size of that file is not large enough and all available memory is in use then you get the Virtual Memory is low warning.
Make sure that you have at least 1 GB or the recommended setting for the Virtual Memory.
If you have less than 1 GB physical memory installed on your computer then if possible add more memory.

  • Credit Memo Does Not Increase Inventory

    Dear Experts,
I have created a new Credit Memo and the associated inventory is not being increased as usual.
I have checked all the root documents - sales order and AR Invoice and delivery, they are all closed.
I am using the Extended Warehouse add-on, which displays all my inventory, and usually the inventory is returned / increased after positing the Credit Memo.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you,
    Justice

    hi
please clarify ur question as at the staring of the question u sates that Credit memo is not increasing the warehouse inventory whereas towards the last u have indicted that the inventory in the warehouse is being getting effected
So would request you please reform ur question however as per the standard practice when we make A/R credit memo then the quantity in our warehouse should increase.
However please  state that the in the A/R invoice documnet the warehouse u have selected is same as the warehouse in the A/R invoice document

  • How to increase and install RAM

    Hi,
+*I've just bought iMac OS X v 10.5.6, however the memory isn't enough to run the mac and the windows at the same time unless the memory is being increased to at least 2.00 GB. So, how can I do that by myself? By the way, this is the first time I own Mac and I really liked so much and I don't think I'll go back to windows.*

Welcome to Discussions and to the world of Mac! I feel the same about Windows
You'll have received the manual with your Mac. If you have the latest iMac, the manual is here for download (you can also search http://manuals.info.apple.com for other manuals):
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iMac_Early2009UG.pdf
RAM installation is described in chapter 3, I believe.
You can buy more RAM from many online resellers. However it is generally advised against buying from Apple because they mark up the prices so much. You find RAM of equal, or better, quality from other sellers for a better price. Macrumours has a [good guide|http://guides.macrumors.com/Buying_RAM] regarding sellers.
Good luck! Post back if you have questions.

  • Another phone call price increase :(

Telecoms giant BT is to raise call charges for residential customers by up to 5% on 3 December - the second increase this year.
UK landline calls will go up from 7.6p a minute to 7.95p a minute. Line rental prices will also rise, but calls to mobiles will be unchanged.
The changes come after a 10% rise in call charges a year ago, and a 9% increase in April.
But BT said these prices would now be frozen until 2013.
Under the changes, the cost of line rental for a customer paying by direct debit will rise by 70p to £14.60 a month.
Evening UK calls will go up from 1p a minute to 1.05p a minute. The call set up fee, which is a one-off charge for a call outside of a customer's plan, goes up from 12.5p to 13.1p.
BT's most popular Anytime calls plan will increase by 20p to £4.90 a month, but various other packages and bundles, some of which include broadband internet, will not be changed.

Crikey BT, times are hard ya know!!
    -+-No longer a forum member-+-

Also, Line Rental is being increased from £13.90 to £14.60
I hope that the 70p a month price increase will be put to good use by BT- and NOT to pay top bosses bonuses

  • Time Capsule to join existing wireless network

    Hi All,
I have a question, as despite experimenting and reading all I can find on the subject I am no closer to a definite answer.
I have the old 500gb Time Capsule (802.11n non-simultanious version).
I presently have a BT HomeHub 2.0 as my wifi router downstairs, and use a Linksys WRT54GS to connect to the network SSID provided by the HomeHub. All my desktop machines, etc are then connected into the 10/100 switch in the WRT54GS, giving them access to the WiFi network.
Ideally I wanted to replace the WRT54GS with my Time Capsule, so that my desktop machines upstairs plug into the 10/100/1000 ethernet ports on the Time Capsule, which is then in-turn connected wirelessly to the BT HomeHub downstairs for Internet access. (The benefit of this being increased speed thanks to the 802.11n technology in the HomeHub and Time Capsule).
Sadly, the Time Capsule does not seem to like connecting to the HomeHub's SSID, each time giving me the flashing amber light. Normally, I would simply re-configure the network so the BT HomeHub connects to an SSID provided by the Time Capsule, but my version of the HomeHub is not capable of doing this, or using a WDS type setup.
WiFi signal strength is good where the Time Capsule is located, the network is using WPA/WPA2 mixed authentication, and other devices can connect to the SSID.
Any help on this is much appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Jon

    Welcome to the discussions!
When the Time Capsule "joins" a wireless network, (which is the only way that it could connect to the HomeHub network unless you use ethernet) the ethernet ports on the device are not active. When you configure the TC to "join", it really takes on the function of a wireless backup device, nothing more.
The Time Capsule cannot be configured for a WDS type arrangement with your HomeHub because it is not compatible.
If you want to connect the Time Capsule to the HomeHub and have the Time Capsule create a wireless network, then you must use an ethernet cable from one of the LAN ports on your HomeHub to the WAN port on the Time Capsule and configure the TC to act as a "bridge".
If you are unable to run an ethernet cable, the next option would be to use ethernet powerline adapters to use the wiring in your home to transmit the ethernet signal.

  • Why does my App Store say all my apps are up to date when they're really not?

I'm in the process of updating my iPod touch 5G to iOS7, and before I do so, I would like to update all my apps to their current versions. However, no updates are showing in the App Store; it says they are all up-to-date when they really aren't. I had about 13 apps to be updated. Is this a glitch as a result of the Apple Store being increasingly optimized for iOS7? I haven't even updated to iOS7 yet; I'm still running 6.1.3. I can manually search for some of my apps in the App Store and update them way, but that's too much of an convenience. I'd like them all to be in the Updates section. Can someone help me out with this?

Mine was doing the same thing, open the store and go to updates and the screen will then refresh and tell you Itunes terms of service have changed.  You'll have to agree to the new 54 pages of terms to get any updates

  • Activation date just came, and went..

    Hi all,
It's kind of ironic that I decided to come back to BT because I had had enough of Sky. Being increasingly disgruntled with the service that Sky was providing over the last year (I had both line rental and Broadband with them), I literally couldn't wait to leave and come back to BT. So, I signed up with BT on Jan 1st (Through Return to Donor). I wanted to take my phone number with me. I then phoned up Sky a couple of days later and cancelled. At this point, Sky put the cancellation date for January 13th, but my BT activation date was 17th Jan (I think her name was Emily at BT who told me that, and who advised me to get Sky not to cancel on that date, otherwise I would have to pay a connection charge).
I phoned Sky and got them to change the date (After a lot of pushing). BT changed the date to 21st January for activation and so the cancellation date with Sky was also January 21st. So here I am, expecting my Sky Line Rental and Broadband to stop today, and BT to provide the phone service (With me signing up for Broadband once I get paid at the end of the month). I phoned up multiple times prior to today to make sure that there were absolutely no problems. The guy I talked to yesterday said: "There are no problems, sir. Everything is going smoothly with the transfer." I was awake at 8am today, and around 9am, the broadband and phone stop working. Sitting there, I'm expecting the phone to start working sometime soon. 10am comes and goes. 1pm comes and goes. 5pm comes and goes. You get the picture. It's now 9.19pm and no service. But that's not what's irritating me. What's starting to annoy me is that BT have disconnected me on the agreed date as they told me to make in relation to Sky, but haven't reconnected me. And judging by other peoples' stories, that means I'll have to pay a connection charge when I'm not at fault and I did everything that I was asked to do. Also, I dread to think what will happen in relation to the phone number that I've had for a long time.
The phone number to call is 0800 800 150 if you're not connected by 8pm. Since that's long gone, I'll be phoning in the morning. What would you guys advise doing? Get out now? My father had the same problem - He phoned regularly to make sure there were no problems until the day itself, and still got blessed with no working phone line. It took him over 2 months to sort it out, and I'm at University so can't afford to take so long, nor do I have the money to correct problems where I'm not at fault. I'm actually thinking of cancelling the order - Is that possible? Even though I placed the order on Jan 1st, and activation was supposed to be today (21st Jan), no service is being provided.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hi QuantumSanctum,

  • Oracle.DataAccess 2.112.1.0 - Connection Pool Problem

    Hi,
Oracle.DataAccess 2.112.1.0 is having connection pool problem. The no. of TCP connections to Oracle database keep increasing untill the server's session run out of limit. My application created connections, use them, close them, and dispose them properly. When using previous Oracle.DataAccess 2.111.6.20, the no. of TCP connections do not increase.
My database connection string has "Min Pool Size = 3 and Max Pool Size = 150".
With 2.111.6.20 version, TCP connection stays at 3.
With 2.112.1.0, TCP connection keep increasing for every 5 minutes. I've tried to disable Self Tuning, but still can't prevent the connections from increasing.
Later today, I downloaded Oracle.DataAccess 2.112.1.2 (it comes with ODAC 11.2.0.1.2) and test again, the problem is resolved... no more connection increases... but.... it is only for 32 bit Windows.
Unfortunately, there is no Oracle.DataAccess 2.112.1.2 for 64 bit Windows Server 2008.
May I know how can i resolve this problem on 64bit Window installed with Oracle 11g R2 client, which comes with Oracle.DataAccess 2.112.1.0, which has serious problems...(according to this 11.2 ODP.NET causing test runner failures )
Many thanks for your time and answers!

    Hi,
The only thing that jumps out within your problem description is that connections are being increased every 5 minutes. Are you sure its every 5 minutes and not 3 minutes which is the timing interval used by the Connection Pool facility to perform connection pool maintenance. If this occurs even when the application is idle then you could be running into the following known issue filed against 11.2.0.1.0 and fixed in 11.2.0.1.2.
Bug 9711600 - CONNECTIONS INCREASE BEYOND MAX POOL SIZE EVERY 3 MINUTE
This is specific to using the option CommandBehavior.CloseConnection when calling execute reader. Are you using this option and then also closing the connection in code before the datareader object is closed, if so you may be hitting this bug. You can also generate an ODP trace at level 15 of the behavior and if you see negative pool counts, that is also a diagnostic that points to this bug.
This is fixed in 11.2.0.1.0 Patch 3 or later for x64. If you have support, I recommend you open a service request to verify if this is your issue and if a patch set may help you.
    Regards
    Jenny B.

  • Adobe Camera Raw - CPU or RAM?

    Hey All!
Please read the whole post, but if you want to cut to the chase, my question is: for ACR conversions would I be better off with an (Windows) 8-core system and 6gigs of ram, or a 4-core system and 12 gigs of ram?
I am a professional photographer who, after upgrading to some equipment that spits out serious file sizes, needs to upgrade his computer system.  I shoot almost exclusively RAW and I rely primarily on Adobe Camera Raw to convert my files and open them in photoshop.  While photoshop performance is a consideration, my biggest concern is to be able to open ACR images ridiculously quick.
Right now, working off 21 megapixel images on my current system, it takes between 10 - 20 seconds to open/convert a single file into photoshop.  I'm aiming for a couple of seconds.
My current system (please don't laugh ... I know its bad):
    XP 32-Bit
    dual-core 2.00GHz
    3G DDR2 Ram (with 3G switch enabled)
    5400 rpm Hard Drives
    Running CS4 and ACR 5.3
    Future Set Up Considerations:
    Vista 64-Bit
    Processor/RAM
    a) quad-core-Q9600 3.00 GHz with 8 gigs DDR2 (1150MHz)
    b) i7-920 2.66 GHz with 12 gigs of DDR3 (1600 MHz) - adds about $500 to price - worth it?
    c) 2 Xeon-quad-core-5530 2.40 GHz with 6gigs DDR3 (1600Mhz) - adds about $1000 to price - worth it?
    d) something AMD?!?!
    Hard Drives (7200rpm)
2 for images storage (one as an internal backup)
1 For operating system, applications, music, etc
    1 For scratch disk
Basically, the question comes down to whether extra cores or extra ram will ultimately make the biggest difference in the ACR performance
During my testing on my (sad) currently system, here are my conclusions (let me know what you think):
Changing the 3G switch to allow the jump from 2 to 3 gigs of ram usage for applications makes no difference in performance
When I am opening up ACR files both cores show 100% usage (will that continue over 4 or 8 cores?)
Photoshop in general seems to be more CPU limited in my case than ram limited (most of the time is says 100% efficiency but things still take bloody long
From some more experienced users, or users who have quad or octa core system or systems with insane amount of ram, I woudl really appreciate your feedback!
    Thanks for the long read!
    ~
    Justin

    Hey Zeno!
    Thanks for the reply.
I would have to disagree thought that it is hard drive limited at this moment.  Take a look at my task manager:
It was running about 5% before I started converting pictures, and then as soon as I started converting the pictures, both cores hit 100% (with little gaps between pictures), and then back to 5% after they were done.  You can also see the ram alocation being increased with each picture that is opened.
So basically, I am wondering if going to a quad core will have all 4 CPU's hit 100%, thus coming close to doubling the speed.  Or if I go i7 then with hyper threading it'll go to 8 effective cores.  Or if I go to dual Xeon processors I'd have 8 cores and with hyperthreading effectively 16 cores.
I am wondering if anyone has experience with a quad core or octacore system that might be able to share some insight.
But I would agree that probably for now 6Gs of ram is probably plenty.
I also don't understand when you said:
"same goes with the CPU, the more cores you have the less benefit you get out of adding more of them"
Could you elaborate.  Its just that it takes about 15-20 seconds to convert a single file, and space that out even over 50 photos, that is still 15 minutes of wasted time.  Just trying to get the best I can without wasting needlessly.
    Thanks a ton!
    ~
    Justin

  • What's new in version 7?

Version 7 is less an overhaul of version 4 than it is a refinement of it. The interface itself is virtually unchanged, although its task-directed system of tabs and buttons is even more intuitive. Themes, title templates and DVD and BluRay templates also look better than ever.
(By the way, just as an FYI, there were no versions 5 or 6 of Premiere Elements. It's just that Premiere Elements is being increasingly bundled with Photoshop Elements, which was leading it by a few versions. Rather than have different versions of each in the bundle, Adobe chose simply to market them as an "Elements suite", version 7.)
Several new features are worth noting:
The ability download and edit video from AVCHD camcorders
A more full-featured Organizer, featuring tools, including SmartDetect, for adding tags and other metadata to media files
InstantMovie tool for interfacing with Movie Themes
The Timeline and Sceneline have been slightly redesigned to include easier access to some of the programs power tools for mixing audio, detecting beats in music and controlling playback speed of clips
Integrated SmartSound Quicktracks, for creating custom music tracks based on the criteria (length, style, etc.) you provide
Videomerge, a new tool that makes applying chroma key effects virtually automatic
Live links to Photoshop.com, a site for displaying your photos and video as well as for accessing additional effects, templates and transitions for Premiere Elements
Live links to the Inspiration Browser, a site which offers free tips and tutorials for more effectively using the program
For a more detailed discussion of these new features as well as illustrations of the new interface, see my article for http://www.muvipix.com, "What's New in Premiere Elements 7":
    http://muvipix.com/learning/learning_pdf.php?preview=WhatsNewIn7

I would like to read your article, but it requires downloading and installing a 41MB file, Adobe Acrobat Reader? I use Foxit, and that is the first time I haven't been able to view anything requiring Adobe Reader or it's plug in for Mozilla. Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Agent determination

I need to determine the agent for the approval of employees change in pay.
First of all the workflow will be tiggered from a transcation. As soon as it is triggred it should go to the HR Manager for approval, who is not neccesarily the superior of the person whoes salary is being increased, after that it should go to the persons division head. Now what is the best way to do it. I am thinking of attaching position for HR manager as an agent but since the position id is generated and it will also have a different number in QA and in production so... what should i do, rest for the departmental head shall i develop a rule...

If you have two approvals with different business functions then it is a very good idea to have two separate tasks for it. This allows not only different descriptions, but also separates them for reporting purposes (e.g. how long do approvals take).
If you do this, you can use Ameekar's suggestion and create a rule, or leave the agent assignment blank and assign the HR manager as a possible agent to the task (if no agent is assigned, it goes to all possible agents). This assignment can then be changed/maintained independently in each system.
    Cheers

  • Ipad - BBCi Player Issues

The following is an issue copied from BBCi forum. The fault is being increasing reported by other IPad users. Although the post is by another (TUCKER), I, and others have an identical problem. It occurs to me that the fault may not be a BBCi Player issue but IOS 4.2 issue.(BBCi forum link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbiplayer/brunel/MP14729750)
The following concisely explains the issue at hand.
Reported by TUCKER (BBC ID: U14729750)
"I have been using iPlayer extensively with iPad with great success until recently. Lately I have been watching shows and they will stop at random points and attempt to buffer. The buffering never completes and the show simply stops. If I restart the show and skip to the point where it stopped playback is usually fine for a while. Sometimes the show completes and sometimes not.
My Internet connection is 12Mbps and is more than fine. I actually run the ISP delivering the service and it is a wholesale DSL service using my own IP address ranges. I also control the site router, central routers and the transit services. I have tested and confirmed this thoroughly and all check out. There is no traffic shaping used and my site on traceroute shows 6 hops to BBC service which knowing the transit used I would expect.
I have been diagnosing this. I have changed wifi access points and used one of several DSL lines available. All show the same problem. I have run with and without NAT and each show the same problem. I have changed DNS and ensure I am using local DNS and that all IP addresses have relevant records in place to allow identification of the closest CDN server. This looks consistent.
I have also tested this on several macs using safari and Chrome and each play fine on the same Internet connection. I have tested on my iPhone and it is showing similar effects of stalling.
I have now been watching the connections on the router and the traffic flow. I can see the stream opens fast and downloads an intial burst of the show. This then reduces to shorter bursts where the player is filling the buffer as playback catches up. Each burst opens a new connection from iPad to BBC usually via CDN and I have noticed the IP address can change for this. Each tcp connection opens and closes cleanly and a new one is opened for each burst. This is as expected with h264 video delivery and has not changed. After a while for no apparent reason the iPad stops opening connections and does not try. I can see no reason or pattern why this would happen. When this happens playback will run on until the buffer empties and then stalls. At this point I would expect the iPad to try a connection to fill the buffer but nothing happens. No connection or attempted connection.
I have tested other services for streaming video on iPad. YouTube even on long clips is fine. A video archive system I develop as part of a school solution works fine even for much longer and high bit rate videos and this uses H264 and HTML5. I have Air Video installed on a hosted server and a number of video files stored and these stream fine. I have a TV capture card hosted on a 10mbps line and use eyeTV on iPad to watch live and recorded TV and this plays with no issue.
The only service I see this issue with is iPlayer on iPad and iPhone. I am reasonably certain I have eliminated all issues at my site and ISP. I am now lost as to what to do. I am willing to provide any form of diagnostic information if it helps.
Has anyone else seen a similar effect or reported similar"?

I've got something similar but in addition to stopping, it will return to the begining of the iPlayer programme and restart but without resetting the iPlayer time bar at the bottom of the screen. In other words, it appears to start in the middle of the programme which, of course, upsets all the time information

  • Using  BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2

    hello,
I'm using this BAPI and when I execute it, it returns the document number  that was created, but when I look for it with transaction CV03N, the document does not exist.  In addition, if I execute the BAPI again, the document number continues being increased, although the previous document has not been created.
I don't know if it's by a customizing problem or it's by the parameters that I'm introducing.

    Hi,
did you use BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT after bapicall.,
    if not do that.
are you doing it in SE37 or in program.
if it is Program then you call the <b>BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT.</b> or if it is from SE37 then you go to menu Function module->Test->Test Sequence
now you will get a popup, in that enter your BAPI first, and then enter the BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT .
    and enter,
now execute the BAPI. and check it after that
