When you say center what exactly do you mean, horizontally or vertically centered?
If I test your code in IE6, IE7, IE8 and Firefox the text appears horizontally centered??????

Center text in table column expanding and distorting side columns
Anyone out there that can help me with this, I would appreciate it. I've created the table for this web page in photoshop and sliced it up. The center column is were the body of the text is displayed as you can see from the screen shot. The body text on some of the pages extends below the design of the page. This is dependent on how much content I have of course. If the text continues below the table parameters, the outer cells stretch out, causing separation of the sliced images in the side columns, as you can see in the other screen shot. This only happens in I.E. of course. In safari the table has no problems.
Is there any way to get this under control in I.E? I have tried everything that I can think of. I have battled with this for far too long now.
Any Help would really be appreciated
Thanks,
DuncanWould really need to see the code to see the extent of the damage Photoshop html has caused. This is a typical problem when exporting html from Photoshop OR trying to assemble the slices into one gigantic table where the cells have been split and merged numerous times which causes distortion.
The idea, looking at your page, would be to insert a simple 3 column x 1 row table into Dreamweaver then insert the components that make up your page into their realtive columns. Using this simple construction method will ensure that all the page elements remain seperate and cannot interact with other element in different cells, which is what is NOT happening in your construction at the moment. -
How to vertically center text in table cell?
How do I get text to center vertically in a cell?
It centres all the text, no matter how many lines. I test the solution.
What have you done? Explain what you are getting and exactly what it is you have done and the result you wanted. We can't see your screen.

I was wondering if there was a way to center text vertically in a text field in forms 6i.
I have a banner at the top of my form as a text item, and I need the value(s) to be centered horizontally(which I have already done) and vertically which I am wondering how to do. Could someone please tell me how?
TIA
CIt does not. It's specific to table cells, or things with the
table-cell
display style.

Vertically center text on a page-document wide
Anyone know how to center text vertically on FrameMaker pages? (There is a way to do this, right?)
Thanks!Nope, not document wide. You could do it manually on a page by page basis or if the content is suffciently small that you can make each page a fixed height row of a table you could use the Table middle setting for the paragraphs.
With a tool like Framescript, you could set up a procedure that would determine the bottom gap from the last line of text to the end of the text frame and then split difference to push down the top of line text, but this requires a bit of coding. -

Pages 5.1 truncates text in tables
Just discovered that Pages 5.1 truncates text in tables when exported to Pdf's even when created in Numbers and pasted. Superscripts were missing. Sometimes regular text after superscrips were missing. Too bad.
It's a bug. Until fixed, you'll have to avoid baseline shift or use an earlier version of Pages. Submit Feedback from the Pages menu to let Apple know you are finding this bug.

"Convert Text to Table" Size limit issue?
Alphabetize a List
I’ve been using this well known work around for years.
Select your list and in the Menu bar click Format>Table>Convert Text to Table
Select one of the column’s cells (1st click selects entire table, 2nd click selects individual cell)
Open “Table Inspector” (Click Table icon at top of Pages document)
Make sure “table” button is selected, not “format” button
Choose Sort Ascending from the Edit Rows & Columns pop-up menu
Finally, click Format>Table>Convert Table to Text.
A few days ago I added items & my list was 999 items long, ~22 pages.
Tonight, I added 4 more items. Still the same # pages but now 1,003 items long.
Unable to Convert Text to Table! Tried for 45 minutes. I think there is a list length limit, perhaps 999 items?
I tried closing the document w/o any changes. Re-opening Pages & re-adding my new items to the end of the list as always & once again when I highlight list & Format>Table>Convert Text to Table .....nothing happens! I could highlight part of the list up to 999 items & leave the 4 new items unhighlighted & it works. I pasted the list into a new doc and copied a few items from the middle of the list & added them to the end of my new 999 list to make it 1003 items long (but different items) & did NOT work. I even attempted to add a single new item making the list an even 1000 items long & nope, not working. Even restarted iMac, no luck.
I can get it to work with 999 or fewer items easily as always but no way when I add even a single new item.
Anyone else have this problem? It s/b easy to test out. If you have a list of say, 100 items, just copy & repeatedly paste into a new document multiple times to get over 1,000 & see if you can select all & then convert it from text to table.
Thanks!
Pages 08 v 3.03
OS 10.6.8G,
Yes, Pages has a table size limit, as you have discovered. Numbers has a much greater capacity for table length, so if you do your sort in Numbers you won't have any practical limitation.
A better approach than switching to Numbers for the sort would be to download, install and activate Devon Wordservice. Then you could sort your list without converting it to a table.

Vertically Center Text in a Text Box
Just switched form Acrobt 6 to Acrobat Pro 9 and can't figure out how to verically center text in a text box. When I select the text it gives me the properties bar shown below:
Seems like a really dumb question because I know I could in Acrobat 6 and I don't know why they would take away that feature, but I can't find it anwywhere.The only time the More button is enabled is when I have the Text Box selected, and then the options pertain to the line weight, etc. of the box and not the text. When I select the text the More button is not enabled and the only options properties are the ones shown above.
I made the Text Box by going to "Tools", "Comment & Markup", "Text Box Tool". I have not seen anything that says Multiline and when I searched help it only talked about multiline fields in forms.
Thanks for the quick responses. -
how to center text in shapes. specifically circles. I want text to be centered directly in the middle
A lot depends on what you mean by centered, the number of lines of text, the actual font, and whether there are descenders.
Using vertical justification set to centered may or may not work for you, depending on the above factors, as it depends on the baseline, I believe, rather than the acutal glyph dimensions. You could try adding baseline shift, I suppose, to make fine vertical adjustments, or you can bite the bullet and use the old-fashioned method of two frames. -
Center Text in TextField Dynamically
How on earth do you center text within a text field
dynamically....e.g. textField.align = "center" or
textField.autoSize = "center" ....nothing works?
BTW...is it just me or is the adobe site just plain slow and
almost unusable to everyone else too. It has to be one of the
slowest loading sites I visit and the menu at top takes forever to
load completely also, Has there been discussion on that?You are using the align property incorrectly. You do not
apply it directly to the textfield but to the textformat property.
var format:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
format.align = "center";
textField.setTextFormat(format);
