Pages 5.1 truncates text in tables

Just discovered that Pages 5.1 truncates text in tables when exported to Pdf's even when created in Numbers and pasted. Superscripts were missing. Sometimes regular text after superscrips were missing. Too bad.

It's a bug. Until fixed, you'll have to avoid baseline shift or use an earlier version of Pages. Submit Feedback from the Pages menu to let Apple know you are finding this bug.

  • Pages 5.1 - no more change table to text?

I'm annoyed that obviously the function to change from text to table and v.v. won't exist no longer?

If you had Pages ’09 v4.3, before the Pages v5+ install, it can be found in /Applications/iWork, unless you removed it.
Pages v5+ is an unofficial rolling beta of missing features and functionality. Only Apple knows the time table, and what features will be updated over time.

  • Is it possible to flip text and tables 90º on a page?

Hi, I am working on a blank template word processing document that I imported from Word. It is in a US letter page layout. I am working with tables and text, and would like a few of the pages to be rotated into a horizontal format, so that the tables and text are formatted in a vertical direction.
I can do this in Word via the text direction option, I was wondering if and how I can do this in Pages. Sorry if I'm unclear, I am not sure what to call the format. If you imagine a standard table flipped 90º on a page, and with the text flipped 90º as well, that is what I am wishing to achieve.
    Thanks,
    Walt

Page orientation is set on a per-document basis & you cannot have both in the same document. However, you can create the same effect using text boxes & other floating objects rotated 90 or 270 degrees.

  • Captured web page has truncated text

Using Acrobat X Pro (10.1.3). When I use the Create > Create PDF from Web Page function for some URLs, I sometimes get whole sections of truncated text. Ironically, this happens on Adobe's Acrobat support forum.
Deselecting the "Scale Wide Contents to fit page" setting has no effect. Under "Convert to PDF," Acrobat Preferences says "There are no settings that can be edited in HTML."
An example follows.  Thanks for any suggestions.
    Page in browser:
Page after Create PDF from Web Page:

Sorry. Images, which were pasted from a screen image capture program, didn't come through. Examples were taken from http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1013211?tstart=0.
In the PDF capture, the first post was OK, but each reply was shoved over to the far right and truncated after 3 or 4 characters.

  • Remove space after text in table?

    Hello!
I am hoping that someone can help me out with this issue. Basically I want the extra space in each row or the tabel to be gone. I cant seem to sort out how.
    Any ideas?

  • "Convert Text to Table" Size limit issue?

    Alphabetize a List
I’ve been using this well known work around for years.
Select your list and in the Menu bar click Format>Table>Convert Text to Table
Select one of the column’s cells (1st click selects entire table, 2nd click selects individual cell)
Open “Table Inspector” (Click Table icon at top of Pages document)
Make sure “table” button is selected, not “format” button
Choose Sort Ascending from the Edit Rows & Columns pop-up menu
Finally, click Format>Table>Convert Table to Text.
A few days ago I added items & my list was 999 items long, ~22 pages.
Tonight, I added 4 more items. Still the same # pages but now 1,003 items long.
Unable to Convert Text to Table! Tried for 45 minutes. I think there is a list length limit, perhaps 999 items?
I tried closing the document w/o any changes. Re-opening Pages & re-adding my new items to the end of the list as always & once again when I highlight list & Format>Table>Convert Text to Table .....nothing happens! I could highlight part of the list up to 999 items & leave the 4 new items unhighlighted & it works. I pasted the list into a new doc and copied a few items from the middle of the list & added them to the end of my new 999 list to make it 1003 items long (but different items) & did NOT work. I even attempted to add a single new item making the list an even 1000 items long & nope, not working. Even restarted iMac, no luck.
I can get it to work with 999 or fewer items easily as always but no way when I add even a single new item.
Anyone else have this problem?  It s/b easy to test out. If you have a list of say, 100 items, just copy & repeatedly paste into a new document multiple times to get over 1,000 & see if you can select all & then convert it from text to table.
    Thanks!

    G,
Yes, Pages has a table size limit, as you have discovered. Numbers has a much greater capacity for table length, so if you do your sort in Numbers you won't have any practical limitation.
A better approach than switching to Numbers for the sort would be to download, install and activate Devon Wordservice. Then you could sort your list without converting it to a table.

  • Text from tables missing!!

    Hi
I have single cell tables, which have a large amount of text. Hence the table cell text should flow to the next page. After checking outputs in digital editions, I found out that the table-cell data is shown only on the first page. After that, the whole text is missing, which was supposed to flow to next page. So cell-text over-flowing to next page is not supported?

Hi freddostein and welcome to our community
How are you viewing the output? Are you just opening the .SWF
and going from there or are you looking at it by opening the
associated HTML page that Captivate normally creates?
If you are viewing by just opening the .SWF, that could be
the cause. Try viewing using the HTML page instead.
    Cheers... Rick

  • In MS Word, it is possible to prevent tables from breaking at page breaks.  So, if a table, when populated with data gets too big for the spae allotted on one page, the table will move in its entirety, to the next page. Can this be done in "Pages"?

I am trying to figure out ow to prevent tables from breaking along a row when there is a page break in "Pages".  This is done in MS Word by going under Table properties under "Rows".   I have a document with small three row tables and I want to keep the tables together and move to the next page in its entirety when there is a page break.  Help!

The table that I don't want to break between rows looks like this, except it fits the width of the page:
    quilt name
    picture of quilt
    source
    Size: XX; Difficulty Level: 3
I inserted a Inline Text box into the document, copied the table inside the text box, then pasted it through the document (which lists quilting projects).  When the table spans a page break, even when in an inline text box, the picture which is in the right hand column splits, as well as the information pertaining to the particular quilt.
Jerry - thank you for your help.  I tried to give you a "solved my problem" rating, but I am adjusting to the Mac slowly after 20+ years on a PC.

  • Text in table comes out as bold or bolder when I email it???

I have been very successful in writing and emailing my press
    releases. However...
How I create then is via creating a table in Dreamweaver and
putting everything there. The reason why I use a table is so that I
can make sure that the content occupies 80% of the horizontal space
and so I can center the content.
I try to have the text come out as light, or normal looking.
However, I have found that all the text that is in the table
automatically comes out at bold (or bolder, depending on where the
email is received and read). I have tried everything I can to
change this so that it comes out as light, but have not had
    success.
Can anyone explain why this is and give a solution?
An example is this press release:
    http://www.manmeetswoman.com/newsletters/media/july2407_seattle.html
It looks good online, when went the page is emailed, the text
gets bold. I email it by pasting the source code into a program
that then emails the press one at a time.
Is there a way I am supposed to do this? A better way?
Any help and insight is appreciated.
    Ron

Email clients typically do *NOT* read CSS that is in the head
    of the page.
You have CSS in the head of the page forcing text that would
    otherwise be
bold, to be normal in weight.

  • I am trying to link to page in my document from the table of contents.  How can this be done?

I am trying to link to page in my document from the table of contents.  How can this be done?

The Table of Contents picks up selected named Styles in the text like Head 1, 2 etc.
Have you actually applied the styles?

  • How can I set page #'s in a text to update automatically?

The book I'm working on has an introduction that quotes from the main text, and gives page numbers. How can I set these referenced page numbers to update automatically when I change the number of pages in the main text? The introduction and chapters are all seperate files, but they are grouped together in one Indesign book file.
    Thanks!

  • Pages 5.0 removing images from tables.

After upgrading to Pages 5.0 I now receive a message when opening any file with a table that has images in the cells.  Basically Pages is removing all images from table cells.  Anyone having this problem and is there an easy fix?

DrBrian, this is what I did to resolve this issue.  I found out that we may still have Pages 09 installed on our systems! Go into Finder - Applications.  If you have a folder titled iWork 09 click it and you may find Pages 09 there.  Double click to open Pages version 09 where you will be able to open all of your files just as they should be.
I will not be using the new Pages upgrade.  I have too much time invested in creating documents and templates for my business and I am not willing to re-learn a new package which has much less functionality.  Hope this helps you.

  • How do I create text flow in Pages 5.1 if text boxes do not link?

    Hi Everyone,
Is there any way Pages 5.1 enables text to flow between text boxes if the text boxes do not link? Thanks!

Like I said, Peter, new to the forum. As for the app store I assumed the new version would, if anything, enhance the functionality of older versions. I obviously made the wrong assumption, both there and thinking that Apple might be paying attention to what is going on here. If I seem upset, it's because I just spent a bunch of money on a new system and am slowly discovering the many small ways in which Apple's software (and hardware) is being dumbed down. Seems like now that Jobs is gone and Apple's stock is through the roof, the cost-cutter... I mean stock-inflators are calling the shots.
