Central control data format

is it possible to have a central control of data format
for example, all number data are with thousand separator and zero decimal place.
if some columns have data format, user can customize it (like current way - set manually in column property)

Yes, you can edit this in localedefinitions.xml whic is located in:
...OracleBI\web\config\localedefinitions.xml
<--property name="decimalSeparator">.<--/property>
<--property name="thousandsSeparator">,<--/property>
or in Answers you can save in the column properties:
as the system-wide default for this data type

Calendar Control Date Format intermittently Changing

I've noticed that every once in a while the Calendar Date format temporarily changes from DD/MM/YYYY to MM/DD/YYYY
This is very problematic for me. Is there a place i can specify this so that it never changes?

Resolved by changing Default value SQL to:
SELECT EVALUATE('REPLACE(TRIM(leading 0 from TO_CHAR(%1,%2)),%3,%4) ' as varchar(20),MIN("- Dim_Date".DATE_VALUE),'MM/DD/YYYY','/0','/') FROM PRS
This displays the default date in format 1/1/2009, the same format shown when choosing a different date from the calendar control.

Prompt Calendar Control - Date Format

Hi,
I have a Calendar Control in my Prompt, that I initialize to a default value as:
SELECT MIN("- Dim_Date".DATE_VALUE) FROM PRS
When a user first goes to the dashboard page, the default value is in the format '2000-01-01'
However, when the user selects a different date, it goes to the format '01/01/2000'
How can I make the format consistent?

Dates Format in Promts using Session Variables

Hi Experts,
I have an issue in controlling date format in prompts using session variable which I am using to set default value.
By default date format is timestamp E.g '2010-12-19 12:00:00 AM'.
As per requriement(s) I customized the date format in Reports as 19-Dec-2010 and I saved it as "System Wide Default for <Date Column Name> "
So, I got desired format in Reports and Date Prompts.
Now, I need to set a default value in Date Prompt. So, in RPD I created a Session Variable which returned me date in
DD-MON-YYYY format. Using follwing SQL :
SELECT REPLACE(CONVERT(VARCHAR(11), Getdate (), 106), ' ', '-') AS [DD-Mon-YYYY]
But in reports takes this value as string and not Datetime. So i got an error message.
A datetime value was expected (received "19-Dec-2010").
If i do not use above SQL to CONVERT date then default date in prompt get displayed as timestamp format and give me desired results but Formatting looks very odd in prompt
Is this a way so I can persist the [DD-Mon-YYYY] Formatting for default value which comes using variable and still run the report.
Above problem also exist vice versa that is if i SET that session variable and pass the datetime value to server. But there i guess I can use ToDate or some Casting in RPD column expression to handle that. Tell me if i am right ?

That almost works. I had to adjust the syntax to the following...and then there are other issues doing this.
select cust_no, name,'@{session.currentUser}' from customersMy write-back SQL is this:

But if I do that I get the below error during write-back. Apparently sometimes when you hide a column on a direct query (numeric maybe?) the value doesn't transfer over to the write-back. How do I change the date format in Forms Central from mm/dd/yyy to dd/mm/yyy?

I'm using Forms Central on a Mac and need to convert the US date format to the one used in Australia ie from mm/dd/yyyy to dd/mm/yyyy. I've tried Field properties and can't see any other options. Is there a quick fix somewhere?

Date format for ipc calendar control in configuration UI

Hi
Does anyone know how to change the format of the date in the calendar control of the configuration UI? Currently when I try to configure a product in the b2c webshop or through SAPGUI, my date characteristics display in MM/DD/YY rather than DD/MM/YY. I have checked the usual suspects (default date format of WEBLOGIN user, logged in customer, my user) and all are set to DD/MM/YY. I could not find a setting in the XCM either.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Date display property is part of user settings for User ID.
Go to transaction SU3
Go to Default tab and adjust the date formats.

Routine to control the format of date

Hi experts,
When loading the ODS from a datasource in Oracle database, some date data contain format which are not allowed. Actually; these date data are not very important for me but the error formats failed the activation of the request in the ODS.
So I have two questions:
1, I would like to implement a routine in the transfer rules level on these date infoobject. This routine will control the format of the date, if they are not "YYYYMMDD", the routine will set empty for this zone. As I am not good at ABAP, is there any informatioin about this ABAP code?
2, Is there any configuration which allow the activation of the requets in the ODS no matter the date format is correct or not?

in that case a conversion exit won't work, you'll have to code it... how you are going to code that, is quite up to yourself...
how are you going to decide whether 13/12/2008 is December 13th 2008 or invalid (in case you're using American dates - 'cause then it would have to be 12/13/2008)? I strongly suggest sending "correct" data towards BI and not trying to solve all the "legacy system" mistakes in BI.
(conversion exits could be assigned in the general tab of the InfoObject maintenance)

Date format in OBIEE 10g Calender Control

Once date selected in Calender, it is taking Date-Time format automatically.
i.e when we select 20/01/2013 in calender and select GO button, then it takes '20/01/2013 00:00:00'. How can we change from Date-Time format to Date format only.

Controlling the Date Format

Hi
A sample web dynpro application displays information regardding Flight information with the flight date.
This application is integrated in portal too.
However, there is a requirement that end user can adjust the date format as yyyy-mm-dd or dd-mm-yyyy or mm-dd-yyyy format.
I changed these options in Windows Regional settings to different values for the short date and long date formats. Unfortunately these changes do not reflect in the iView.
Is ther any setting at the iView when developing the portal content or any other way to allow the user to see the date in the format he likes ? if yes, what needs to be done ?

Hi Prasad,
Try to use the browser locale setting instead of Windows regional setting. You can get the browser locale
setting from the below code
Locale locale = request.getServletRequest().getLocale();
Then use this locale data pattern and display date formats according to user browser locale settings.

Portal Date format

Is there a way where we can control the date format from the portal which when change will take effect of webdynpro java applications deployed?
Scenario: We have webdynpro java applications deployed on the portal. Data are coming from r/3 which include date. NOw what we need is central control on date format.
on webdynpro we can manually set the date format, or it can be dependent to the date settings of the jco user being used.
but how can we set it automatically from the portal? is it possible?

Problem with SQL*Loader and different date formats in the same file

I'm using SQL*Loader to import semi-colon separated values into a table. The files are delivered to us by a data provider who concatenates data from different sources and this results in us having different date formats within the same file. For example:
...;2010-12-31;22/11/1932;...
I load this data using the following lines in the control file:
EXECUTIONDATE1 TIMESTAMP NULLIF EXECUTIONDATE1=BLANKS "TO_DATE(:EXECUTIONDATE1, 'YYYY-MM-DD')",
DELDOB TIMESTAMP NULLIF DELDOB=BLANKS "TO_DATE(:DELDOB, 'DD/MM/YYYY')",
The relevant NLS parameters:
NLS_LANGUAGE=FRENCH
NLS_DATE_FORMAT=DD/MM/RR
NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE=FRENCH
If I load this file as is the values loaded into the table are 31 dec 2010 and 22 nov *2032*, aven though the years are on 4 digits. If I change the NLS_DATE_FORMAT to DD/MM/YYYY then the second date value will be loaded correctly, but the first value will be loaded as 31 dec *2020* !!
How can I get both date values to load correctly?

This is very strange, after running a few tests I realized that if the year is 19XX then it will get loaded as 2019, and if it is 20XX then it will be 2020. I'm guessing it may have something to do with certain env variables that aren't set up properly because I'm fairly sure my SQL*Loader control file is correct... I'll run more tests :-(

Group by month/year from DATE FORMAT column

List View does not retain date formats from Excel

i am using List View control to isplay data. When i scroll the horizontal bar inlist view, the date format changes to numbers. is there were to stop this happening.

Hi Chandra,
Are you getting the values from any live connection or is it static data from the excel file?
You can also try to goto properties of component and in the appearence tab,select the format of the values as "DATE".
Incase you are getting the values from the live connection, you can select a different cell which would reference to the data coming from the connection and use it into the components.
e.g.: if values are coming in cell"A1" then goto some empty cell as B1 and type in"=A1" and use this new cell into the component.

Date Format error while loading *.dat file to Sataging .

Loading data from *.dat file in to Staging , the dat file contains data for date in 'MM-DD-YYYY' format which is String , when it loading by control file it produce the error date format is not supported .I think ti required DD-MM-YYYY format . Is their any properties to change the date format or else need to write the function for converting date format .
I am using OWb 10g Release 1 , with same DB .

Hi,
Before loading into staging, you can use Expression operator to convert the CHAR into DATE with something like this:
TO_DATE('01-02-2005','MM-DD-YYYY')
