CertificateException while making https connection
Hello,
I'm trying to connect to Facebook's Graph API login page using https in my midlet, and am getting a certificate error: javax.microedition.pki.CertificateException: Server certificate chain exceeds the length allowed by an issuer's policy
The certificates seem valid: The site loads in Firefox, and I can verify the certificate with openssl - "openssl s_client -connect graph.facebook.com:443" (as long as the root Entrust certificate is known).
The midlet code I'm using is simple:
HttpConnection conn = (HttpConnection) Connector.open( "https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/authorize", Connector.READ );
InputStream in = conn.openInputStream();
And the stacktrace (running in the WTK2.5 emulator) is:

I'm new to dealing with https in J2ME - am I trying to connect incorrectly? Or is there a setting for certificate verification that needs to be tweaked?
Thanks for the help,
Mike

Making https: connection from java code loaded into Oracle 8i database
A bit of a blast from the past, really, as 8i provides a JVM at 1.2.2.
I need to provide an PL/SQL function which accesses a RESTful web service requiring https connection. Got the call working under 1.2 locally without much trouble using:
static {
System.setProperty("java.protocol.handler.pkgs",
"com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol");
Security.addProvider(new com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Provider());
}The trick is to get the Oracle database to run the code internally. What libraries do I need where? I get an extremely unhelpful NoClassDefFoundError, without mention of the offending class.
By doing loadjava with jcert.jar,. jnet.jar and jsse.jar (the libraries I'm using with the test program) I can get loadjava to accept and allegedly resolve the class.endasil wrote:

Well, sadly look at the colour scheme.Yeah, sarcastic was I. The NoClassDef error seriously doesn't give a class name? I find it astonishing that any implementation would be that stupid.Seriously. The strange thing is that before I got to the NoClassDefFound I had a Initialization error (until I added a security rule for setting the Provider) and for that I got a full stack trace (in an obscure trace file, granted). -

Connection Reset while making http web service call to remote server
Hello guys,
Our environment details are as follows:
WebLogic version: 10.3.3
Cluster: yes
Database: Oracle
Web service server: Remote application
When our WebLogic server makes a http Web service call to another remote application which runs on IIS server for creating a record. The record gets created in remote application but WebLogic server log says java.net.SocketException: Connection reset and the same record doesn't get created in WebLogic application. We have confirmed that remote application is running and it is behaving as expected. Also, we installed web service client on our WebLogic machine just to isolate any network related issues, when we make a same request through this client it works fine and we get answer. At this point in time, it looks like it could be WebLogic or application which is behaving goofy. we are running out of ideas, it would be nice if someone have any thoughts on it like turning on any flags or any other troubleshooting steps. Please, let me know.

thanks a lot for your help in advance
Regards,Here's what the issue was for us:
When the web service was initializing, Weblogic? was trying to retrieve the WSDL first before initializing the service.
Though the web service URL was proper, the WSDL itself was unresolvable. This led to this strange connection reset error.
So, if you're experiencing this consistently, check your WSDL URL.
We used "strace" to discover this problem by running it for a brief time while the web service initialization was attempted - and it very clearly showed that the code was attempting to laod something from a bogus address / IP -
Facing problem while making http request?
Hi Friends,
I have made blackberry application. I am able to download the same using OTA successfully. With the help of this application I am trying to communicate to server using Httpconnection and want to get some response from server. It is working properly when am i trying Blackberry simulator...but whenever I try to Blackberry device(BB Curve 8900) it is not working and device got stuck. After that I have to restart the device. After restarting again application shows "Uncaught Exception" . So I am not able to find out what is exact problem. So if anybody faced this type of problem please suggest me.thanks in advance...
Regards,
hkhan_2005Just a thought. Create Calculated Key Figure. In the formula editor use a Formula Variable, say ZFV_TEST. Use Processing by > Replacement Path; Use Reference Characteristic > Charg..Date Date. In Replacement Path > Replace Variable With > InfoObject, Replace With > Key. Save your variable ZFV_TEST. Goto Dimensions > Date. Formula: Target Date = DATE(Charg..Date + DATE(270)). This works iff your values are just for a few records with same date data sans aggregation. Would suggest you to use constant selection on the selection; as the values may be aggregated. If it doesn't work, you may try using a Virtual KF for each line items. Last option, you may try customer exits. You may refer this [thread |Re: Date range for a variable from number of days enterd;for your reference.

Http connection / Accompli 008
Hi,
I'm currently developing a J2ME application for the Accompli 008.
Everything works fine, but I'm having trouble making HTTP connections from the Accompli 008.
I reduced the code that I only make a simple http-connection. The code works on the emulator and on a Siemens SL45i but the Accompli hangs. It connects to the Remote Access Server but then nothing happens. If I catch the java exception I see a "socket error".
With the same settings it's possible to get an internet connection when I use the pre installed browser.
Can you give me any help?
Thanks in advance.Hello sir,
i have tried your given suggestion and it work very well in WKT-tool
kit emulator as well as sun one emulator .but my app is not running on
real device i.e connection is not establish.I have tried all the
solutions as for as my knowledge but i could not solve the
problem.Please help me I will be very thankful to you...

How to cancel a http connection mid-way
Hi,
I would like to cancel a http connection mid-way.
For example, I may make a connection to a web server and the midlet will display a wait screen with a Gauge showing the status of the connection. The screen also has a Cancel button to allow the user to cancel the connection.
I have written a method to cancel the connection (as below), but it doesn't work. The connection continues to be processed.
public void cancel () {
try {
if (httpconn != null) httpconn.close();
if (instrm!=null) instrm.close();
if (outstrm!=null) outstrm.close();
if (bStrm!=null) bStrm.close();
} catch (Exception e) { logger.addLog("cancel "+e.toString()); }
}Has anyone successfully tried to cancel a http connection mid-way?
Thanks.Hi,
I was also facing such problem but i got a solution for it.Method in which your are making HTTP Connection check a boolean variable after every line if
boolean variable is true than terminate connection otherwise continue connection. And set boolean variable true when cancel method is called. -
Outlook 2010 makes unexpected HTTPS connection for unrelated profile
I originally posted this in the Outlook forum, but was pointed here instead.
I have a number of different Outlook profiles, for unrelated Exchange accounts.
I recently noticed that a client's firewall log was showing unexpected failed logon attempts to port 443, from my IP, using my PC name and username. I eventually found that these connections corresponded to my starting Outlook 2010 on my PC, loading my usual
Outlook profile (unrelated to the client, although I do have another Outlook profile for this client's Exchange server.)
Recreating my usual profile didn't fix it. Eventually I created a test profile that contains just an empty PST file and the Fax service, and even opening this profile causes a failed HTTPS (presumably RPC over HTTPS) connection to the client.
Why would Outlook be making HTTPS connections (presumably RPC over HTTPS) to a server that isn't referenced in a profile? How can I remove such references?
Thanks.This was marked as the answer, but it is not.
I use RPC-over-HTTP for all the accounts, so I can't disable it.
The question is why is Outlook attempting to connect to the server referenced in profile X when I'm connecting (successfully) to a entirely different server referenced in different profile Y?
Thanks. -

HTTP connectivity error while using Blackberry MDS and JDE 5.0.0
Hello,
I am using BB MDS simulator 4.1.2 and BB JDE 5.0.0 for testing sample Oracle ADF Mobile client apps that I have developed.
My app tries to access webservices via HTTP.
Here is where I am encountering a HTTP connectivity issue.
1. For instance, while trying to test HTTP using Blackberry browser, I see the error : "Unknown host mobile.blackberry.com:80"
2. The sample I tried to run to test webservices - accepts a word from the user and gets it translated in to a desired language, using a webservice provided on the internet.
Here, I have tried to translate the word 'madam' from English to French.
I have encountered a HTTP/1.0 400 Bad Request.
Kindly have a look at the MDS Trace as below (related entries in bold) and suggest if I am missing something from the configuration perspective.
PS : I have tried various options from the blackberry forums but they were not very helpful.

a>Hi, there:
A couple of things to try and check:
- Does your network connection goes through proxy server? If you are behind a proxy server, then you would need to set up proxy server in MDS by open the file <MDS simulator install>/config/rimpublic.property, go to the [HTTP Handler] section, and add the following line:
application.handler.http.proxyEnabled = true
application.handler.http.proxyHost=<your proxy server host name>
application.handler.http.proxyPort=<your proxy server port>
- Try BlackBerry MDS simulator that came with JDE 5.0. MDS 4.1.2 should still work with 5.0 device simulators, but it's worth a shot
Can you hit the web service from the browser in your Blackberry simulator? Feel free to directly contact me at [email protected] - if necessary we can also pull in BlackBerry/RIM resources to help diagnose this.
Thanks,

Hi Vinzgenius,
From you are describing, it sounds like an issue with the microphone. Take a look at the article below to troubleshoot the issue further. Check to make sure that you do not have any Bluetooth devices connected as well as restarting your iPhone.

The system cannot find the file specified
I have tried from so many forms. This is so frustrating. Thank for everyone/anyone who wants to help. So this is what happened: I had to uninstall my previous sqlserver 2012(which worked great) for some reason, and I uninstalled everything from that download.
Then I installed the trial edition of sql server 2012 (64 Bit) and It wouldn't connect to the database. (Error mentioned above.) My local DB is COWBOYS. (COWBOYS is also my computer name.) After this, I have tried downloading sqlexpress and sqlserver 64bit
many times and cannot connect to my local DB.
How do I connect to my Local DB?
Also, I think this might help: (When I run sqlserve.exe, which I was able to find in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\LocalDB\Binn, I get an error: Your SQL server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with(Error getting
instance ID from name). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem.
I would happily re install it, if it wasn't my 20th time.
I don't have any remote connections, I don't use username/password, only window authentication. I work mostly on visual studio, but without able to store /retrieve data, I don't know how to survive.
May be the solution is very simple, but I am too frustrated.
Some of the things I have tried:
From a command prompt, enter one of the following commands:
net start "SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER)" OR
net start "SQL Server Agent(instancename)"(for instance)
on my sql configuration, I cannot start anything because there is nothing there to start. I can post more details, if that would help. Also, some more details about the error:

Any one that can help me, I will be greatful. Thank you so much. p.s. please ask me anything if you have any questions.It sounds like there are a couple things going on here. First check if you have a successful install of SQL Server, then we'll figure out the connection issues.
Can you launch SQL Server Configuration Manager and check for SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) if default instance or SQL Server (other name) if you've configured your instance as a named instance. Once you find this, make sure the service is started.
If not started, try to start it and see if it throws an error. If you get an error, post the error message your hitting. If the service starts, you can then launch SSMS and try to connect. If you have a default instance, you can use the machine
name in the connection dialog. Ex: "COWBOYS" where Cowboys is the machine name. However, if you named the SQL Server instance during install, you'll need to connect using the machine\instance format. Ex: COWBOYS\Romo (where Romo
is the instance name you set during install).
You can also look at the summary.txt file in the SQL Server setup error logs to see what happened on the most recent install. Past install history is archived in the log folder if you need to dig those up to help troubleshoot, but the most
recent one may help get to the bottom of it if there is an issue with setup detecting a prior instance that needs to be repaired.
