CF9 and Server Manager Air

I registered my CF9 server but status give me 'Unreachable', what connection settings does the component need and are there server-side settings I should check.

Just figured it out my own.  In the 'Connection Information' for the server, under the 'HOST' parameters I had http:// preceeding the host name.  Removed that and connected successfully.  What clued me off was to display the "ERRORS View".

  • Cf8-cf9 and server upgrade problems

I took over a system developed in coldfusion 8 and sql server
2005 on a windows server 2003. I was new to all of this. I now need to upgrade to cf9 and sqlserver 2005 on a windows server 2008. someone has done the initial install of sql server cf and dreamweaver. I added java. All seems ok except I can't make the datechooser work. I activated the rds in but I still could not get to datechooser.png. I copied the directory from c.... to the same directory as my application and it showed the icon but did not do anything. I think I have 2 problems here
    1. how to I correctly map to the default CFIDE path
    2. is there something else I need to install to get the datechooser implemyed via cfinput datefield to produce a calender when I click on the icon
Obviously I am a complete novice at this....
Thanks in advance for any assistance

@elizinn, someone may offer a single sentence proposal of how to fix things, but in my experience (helping solve such problems), this could be far more challenging problem to resolve than meets the eye, and all the more so if you're new to all this.
I'll share my observations, for what they're worth. Sorry if ultimately your problem is totally unrelated, but perhaps then it will help someone else reading this later. Also, it's not clear, but I'm assuming that you DID proceed with the CF9 update. Even if you didn't, some of what I offer could still help you, if you can stick with me.
First, you refer to not finding the DateChooser.png. Are you saying that it's somehow appearing as a broken link? Or are you getting a 404?
As a test, it should be found at:
    http://[server]/CFIDE/scripts/ajax/resources/cf/images/DateChooser.png
What happens when you do that? That could be useful, diagnostically.
As for the question of mappings, and CF updates, that actually could be a real mess, from my experience, if people aren't careful about what they're doing. Things get all the more complicated when people support multiple web sites and start doing manual configurations. Let me explain.
The problem could have to do with where the first install of CF8 put the CFIDE, and then where the update to CF9 expected to update those files. It wouldn't be hard for someone not understanding things to have told the update to put its files in a different place than the original install, which could cause IIS (and your sites and requests) to be finding the wrong files (even if not a 404, they may not be the updated version for CF9).
At root, the problem is that during the install, one is asked whether they want to have CF use its built-in web server or an external one. If they choose the former, then the CFIDE (and related files) are put it in that web server's webroot (which is \wwwroot). If they choose the latter, then the files are put in a docroot defined for IIS. (Even there, someone may later configure things with the web server configuration tool to support several web sites, each of which could have its own web site. And for that, some will manually setup a an IIS "virtual directory" for the CFIDE, which points to whatever single one they think is the one that should be used.
I appreciate that it may sound confusing. This is one of those things where it may be faster for you to have someone with experience look over your shoulder and help correct things. There are some of us who do that, if you're interested. I list myself and others at cf411.com/#cfassist.
And things can get hairier still when someone then runs the CF update, where it again asks where to put the CFIDE files. They may not pay close attention to all this above (if they even understand it), and they may let the updater put the files in a different location than the IIS sites are currently configured to look at. That could then leave things not working, or not working well.
If you want to try to sort this out yourself, look in IIS, view whatever site you're working with, and look for any reference to a CFIDE directory. If it's not there, that's a problem from the start. You will want to add a virtual directory that points to wherever it really exists (and again, you want to be careful that there may be two different ones, as only will likely have been updated by the installer.)
If it is there, then if it's a "real" directory (within that site's docroot), then again you want to make sure it's the one that was updated in the upgrade to CF9. If not, then you may need to copy whatever files "were" updated into that directory (or delete that directory and create a virtual one to point to the right place).
And if it's there and it's a virtual mapping, again, make sure it's whatever is the latest CFIDE (if you have multiples).
I'll note as well that there is also a mapping in the CF Admin (on the mappings page) for CFIDE, and that's put there by the installer (and is not editable in the interface). That could help clarify where the installer put the latest files.
    Hope that's helpful.

  • Run as for .msc and Server Manager

I have installed RSAT for Win 8.1 Pro x64 and created custom .msc console with ADUC, DNS, DHCP and other snapins, put it on my desktop. Also I put shortcut for Server Manager on my desktop. Is there any way to start these as domain admin account which I
have along with my "normal" user account - using run as in some way. I could use shift+right click and run as different user but I prefer the other way if possible. I want the same for Windows PowerShell and Windows PowerShell ISE.
    Thanks in advance!

seems only the domain administrator who have right to open the MMC console saved by other user. Right click the console document and choose Run
as administrator, then enter your user name and password. The console opened with the Administrator right...

  • Server manager crashing - Fault Module clr.dll

The Server manager is crashing. As soon as you try to open Server Manager it crashes instantly with the failing module being clr.dll
This seems to relate to .net framework and after looking for a hotfix it says to contact Microsoft (who have been less than helpful so far).
    Things i have tried:
= Installing the hotfix which results in an error about the update not being needed or something else on the server stopping the update.
= Uninstalling .net framework for reinstalling, but to uninstall a service/feature it launches into the server manager, so just results in a crash.
= Tried uninstalling via Powershell, but as soon as you open powershell it also crashes!
Resulting error for both powershell and server manager is clr.dll. Basically anything relating to .net framework has stopped working and i need a fix! Thanks!

We are referring to Windows Server 2012 R2 (sorry).
You open the Server Manager, it shows launches and then says not responding instantly.
You can either check for solutions or close. The following error messages is contained with it:

I am sure this is related to .Net Framework 4, because my Avast Management console and Powershell have also stopped working and result with the same error when launched. I could be wrong though, but that is my thoughts....

Thanks in advance for your help

    Hi,
Please try to install Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 directly and check the result. Service Pack 1 for Windows Server 2008 R2 includes all the
previous released Windows Updates and hotfixes.
If it does not work, you will need to copy these files from another working Windows Server 2008 R2 system to replace the corrupt ones.
Otherwise, you will need to perform an In-Place upgrade to repair the system.

  • Server 2009 R2 Stuck Installing Updates and Unexpected Error Refreshing Server Manager

I have a 2008 R2 server that is running but has issues when restarting or trying to install IE 10. I ran the System Readiness Tool and it fixed a number of issues but there are 5 remaining errors in the Component store that will not repair automatically.
    They are:
    Checking Component Store
    (f) CSI Missing Identity 0x00000000 appid win7-micros..anguagepack_31bf3856ad364e35_7.1.7601.16492_eb5d85075a07f78b

I tried to run a SFC but if failed because there is a repair operation that needs a reboot.  When rebooting, the server tries to install a number of updates but the update fail and the server backs them out and then comes up.  It goes through this
loop every restart.  There is a pending.xml file that has much in it and I will copy at the end of this post.
I moved the pending.xml out of the winsxs folder and tried to run the SFC again and now it fails with: "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation".
Checking windows updates shows that the IE 10 upgrade for Server 2008 R2 failed a number of times.  I tried to manually install it and it fails.  I was going to go to the server manager and see if I could disable IE and then re-enable it (this
has worked on W7 pcs in the past) but the Server manager aborts with "Unexpected Error refreshing Server Manager: Catastrophic failure (Exception from HResult: 0x8000FFFF (E_UNEXPECTED)).
The details of the pending.xml is 32MB but here is an initial snipet:

  • File Server Resource Manager will not load WMI Objects on Windows 8.0/8.1 Preview with Hyper-V and Server Tools Loaded

    Hi Folks,
I have a problem getting "File Server Resource Manager" to start properly because WMI objects are not loading??? I don't understand this at all because I am able to access them with other Apps, etc. I have been over my Services list as well but
have not yet discovered which Service turns on/off "File Server Resource Manager". I have looked in Windows\System32\ and I can not find SrmSvc. I found other Srm's there though. I also found the FSRM Snapin which generates the Figure below but I
can not find it in the WMI Browser. I believe the Firewall is OKAY since I have been over that thoroughly. I do have the Server Tools Installed for Windows 8.0 or Windows 8.1 Clients as well as the Windows Updates applied, which is where I got "File Server
Resource Manager" in the first place. I have had WMI and Powershell 3.0 Package, installed since Windows 7 but I run a repair on them anyway.
I have read through "File Server Resource Manager could not load WMI objects on Windows Server 2012
Article ID: 2831687" but since I don't seem to have SrmSvc the solution doesn't help me. I haven't been able to find a similar one for the Windows Client.
If there is anything you could share on this problem I would be much obliged.
    Thanks again,
    Crysta

  • SQL Server Management Studio and Native Client different behaviour on delete

I have a problem with transaction containing insert and delete to same table and some select/insert/update to some other tables. Problematic table has primary key defined as combination of column1 and column2.
When two different instances using Native Client execute simultaneously this code and make inserts to table then delete part of code causes deadlock. However this doesn't happen when trying this situation in MS SQL Server Management Studio query.
Is there some option that is missing from Native Client connection string which can cause this different behaviour?

    Hello,
I don't think there is a difference in the behavior. SSMS uses ADO.NET and that Provider base on the Native Client.
The difference will be more that way, when the transaction is commited and so the locks released. I guess your application keeps the transaction (much) longer open; you should commit a transaction as soon as possible to avoid long time locks and so
    deadlocks.

  • Sizing of Oracle IdentityManager and Access Manager on same Weblogic Server

    Hi ,
We are planning to deploy Oracle Identity Manager and Access Manager on the same weblogic server in different domains. We have user base of 25000 users.
We can propose two different weblogic servers for OIM and OAM ?
Please let me know the best hardware and software requirements for this installation.
    Thanks,

You can use it as a guideline, and it refers to 25000 users similar to your requirement. There are other factors also consider like, failover, performance etc. Feel free to reach out if you need more info [email protected]

  • SQL Server Management 6.5.1.0 and 6.5.4.0 does not discovery SQL 2008 databases on Windows 2003

SQL Server Management 6.5.1.0 and 6.5.4.0 does not discovery SQL 2008 databases on a custom instance name or when multiple SQL instances are installed on Windows 2003.
    OS Version: Windows 2203 x64 with SP2
    Database Version: 10.3.5869.0
The instance in this case: I01 is running on port 49168.
SQL Server Network Configuration | Protocols for I01 | IP Addresses | IPAll | TCP Port = 49168
The DB Engine class is discovered but not the "Tcp Port" property.
The database discovery script then fails as it is missing the 8th parameter; The Port.
Looking at the discovery script DiscoverSQL2008DBEngineDiscovery.vbs i see the following WMI query.
    Set oWMI = GetObject("winmgmts:\\" & computerName & "\root\Microsoft\SqlServer\" & SQL_WMI_NAMESPACE)
    Set oQuery = oWMI.ExecQuery("SELECT * FROM ServerNetworkProtocolProperty
Using WMI Explorer if I connect to namespace: root\Microsoft\SqlServer\ComputerManagement10
and query "SELECT * FROM ServerNetworkProtocolProperty". There are no instances.
What am I missing or doing wrong?

  • I can't manage file and storage services in server manager.

I have a windows 2012 R2 server. I had turned on the file and storage services role and was able to configure a single share in server manager. A few days later I wanted to create another share but when I select file and storage services within server manager
I get the message at the top that says The server has not been queried for data since it appeared offline. Also there are no shares listed. Even though the shared folder that I already created is available from other computers.
If I try to create a file share anyway I am asked to choose a server to create the share on and the server appears in the list with a status of offline.
Now this may seem like an obvious connection issue however, I am trying to configure the server locally, not over the network. I can manage other services in server manager just fine. I have WDS and WSUS roles installed and can be configured with server
manager just fine. I only have a problem with file and storage services.
There are no errors in the event log.
I tried to remove the file and storage services role from the server but as soon as I uncheck the box for file and storage services I get a pop up windows that says:
The validation process found problems on the server from which you want to remove features. The selected features cannot be removed from the selected server. click ok to select different featres.
I lists validation results that simply state the name of the server and says "storage services cannot be removed."
How can I get file and storage services working again?

    Hi,
How many servers are there in the list? If the offline serve is a remote server, please reboot the remote server to see the result. In the meantime, please new a shared folded on the local server in Windows Explorer to see if the issue still exists.
Please refer to the article below to share a folder with server manager.

  • I am trying connect to a SQL instance for our CRM program and I am receiving To Connect to this Server you must use SQL Management Studio or SQL Server Management

I am trying connect to a SQL instance for our CRM program and I am receiving To Connect to this Server you must use SQL Management Studio or SQL Server Management
This is a Brand new Server 2012 that is running our CRM product and it is trying to connect to a Server 2008 R2 server with SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 instance (10.50.4000)
I have seen this in the past where it needed the 2005 backwards compatibility components installed but those are not supported on 2012 server and this is not a 2005 SQL instance.
I am trying to install the Shared Management Objects for SQL Server 2008 but it tells me I need to install the CLR types, which I did install. But it continues to tell me to install the CLR types.
Has anyone ran into any issues like this? (this happens trying to connect to multiple SQL Servers from this new 2012 Server)
    Thanks!
    -Max

    Hello,
Which version and edition of the SQL Server instance did you installed on the new server machine?  If you install SQL Server 2012 Express edition, you can try to install SQL Server Management Studio 2012 from
    this link.
You can connect to SQL Server 2008 R2 or earily verions with SSMS 2012.
What's more, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Management Objects Collection requires Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0, Microsoft SQL Server Native Client, and Microsoft SQL Server System CLR Types. You can try to download and install
    SQL Serve 2008 Feature Pack
    which contains packages above.

Query regarding the Node manager configuration(WLS and OAM Managed server):

Default port on which node manager listen for requests is localhost:5556.I have changed it to point to my machine. The port should be of WLS admin server or it should be the managed server port?
    3) I have started the NodeManager using the startNodeManager.sh script.
    4) The admin server port is 7001 and the oam managed server port is 14100.
Any inputs on what might be wrong in the setup will be helpful. Thanks !

By using netstat -anp|grep 5556 you can check which process on your machine is using the 5556 port.
