Cfdocument problem with textarea linebreaks

Hi,
I am using cfdocument to generate pdf. There are some
<textarea> input type fields as well, and if the data of
those textarea fields contains any linebreaks, then the generated
pdf shows empty boxes.
Any help is appriciated. I am using CF 8.1.31

before you use the textarea's value in cfdocument, replace
all CR & LF
characters with <br />.
there are couple of cf functions you can use to do it:
replace(somestring, chr(10) & chr(13), "<br />",
"all")
rereplace(somestring, "\r\n", "<br />", "all")
listchangedelims(somestring, "<br />", chr(10) &
chr(13))
[cf representation of CR and LF chars is chr(10) and chr(13);
\r and \n
are regexp character classes for CR and LF]

  • Hello, I got a problem with TextArea() used in iPAQ

  • Problem with TextArea - AWT

    Hello,
    I'm working with JRE1.5, and I have an applet with a TextArea component and some buttons. Each button has to insert a specific tag in the TextArea. Well, when I write some lines in the TextArea and push a button, the insertion doesn't work fine, it is done in an incorrect position.
    I know that this was a bug reported, but I've read that it was already fixed in version 1.4.2.
    Does someone know if Sun has fixed the bug in version 1.5?
    Regards.

    Could you show a snippet of code so we can see how it's being inserted?

  • Cfdocument with textarea auto Height

    Hi All,
    I successfully display the content but let the textarea auto
    detect my content lengh, so auto height, not fix rows. Below is the
    coding:
    But the problem is if i put cfdocument tags, then the pdf
    just display rows 2, not auto height.
    I tried cfhttp, cannot also.
    Any idea on this
    Thanks

    Hi
    In the end, I found out that that code only worked if the page had only one textarea (not my case :-/ ). So I decided to write myself a simpler (though not so bright) solution:
    Resizes vertically a textarea based on the size of the text it contains.
    NB: Works best with monospaced fonts
    function textarea_autoheight(textarea) {
      var c = 0;
      var r = 2;  // (*) IE does not seem to work well with
                  // textarea.rows so we need one more empty line at the end
      var t = textarea.value;
      for(var i=0; i<t.length; i++) {
        if (t.substr(i,1) == '\n') {
           c = 0;
          r++;
        else {
          c++;
          if(c >= textarea.cols) { c=0; r++;}
      textarea.rows = r;
    Resizes and binds a textarea (or all textareas in the page if the parameter is null)
    to the autoheight function above, so they get automatically resized as user enters text
    function textarea_activate_autoheight(textarea) {
      if(textarea != null) {
        g_textarea_autoheight(textarea);
        textarea.onkeyup = function() {g_textarea_autoheight(textarea);};
      else {
        var ta_list = document.getElementsByTagName('textarea');
        for(var i=0; i < ta_list.length; i++) g_textarea_activate_autoheight(ta_list);
    To use it, just add onload="textarea_activate_autoheight();" to activate it for all the textareas in the page. It seems to work well...
    If anyone knows how to fix the bug (*) above, please let me know!

  • Problem with HTML in a read only textarea item

    I'm working on a messaging system for our site. For the body of the message, we use a standard textarea item. However, if we come to the messaging page from a certain page in our system, then we pre-load the textarea item, and make it read only. The only problem with this is that there are HTML tags in the body that we try to pre-load. This is causing problems because they aren't being interpreted as tags, but are being displayed as text. If I make the textarea editable, then everything looks fine, it's just when I set the area to be read only that it doesn't work. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Thanks!

    Not always. A user is allowed to edit that area in most circumstances except for when the user arrives at the page coming from 1 page in particular. In this case, then the field is read-only. At all other times though, it is editable.
    As a workaround, whenever I know I'm coming from this page, I set a variable, and if the variable is set, then I use a Display Only item and then hide the Textarea. If the variable is not set, then I hide my Display Only item and show the Textarea. Not very elegant, but it works.

  • Problem With PDF Generation With CFDOCUMENT

    I am having a problem with generating PDF's from my web
    pages.
    For example...if you go here
    http://www.michaelpumo.com
    and click the "Convert to PDF" link on the left you'll see that the
    output is totally wrong.
    Is it to do with my markup? I can't figure this out.
    Many thanks in advance.

    I, along with many others have had these types of problems
    and so far adobe hasn't addressed them (or at least I couldn't find
    anywhere where they have).
    Kapitaine, Have you tried outputting to flashpaper? Most of
    my formatting problems only occur in PDF.
    For instance, align right does not work properly. It pushes
    everything to the right, but is not flushed to the right so the
    output looks very unprofessional. This cfdocument was a good idea,
    and a good selling point but it is embarrassing to have sold my
    boss on it only to find out it is almost worthless in it's current
    state. BTW I'm working on a CFMX7.0.2 on Linux RHEL4.

  • Problem with fullscreen and TextArea

    I'm actually working to put a program in fullscreen mode. My interface is ok in fullscreen, I just got a problem with my TextArea. I don't arrive to get focus on them when it is in fullscreen...
    My cursor change, but I can't select the text inside.
    if someone got an idea?
    thanks,
    Thomas.

    It doesn't work. My textArea is selectable, but I begin to define my problem.
    When I'm in fullscreen, I don't arrive to get focus on the TextArea.
    myFocusListener = new FocusListener() {
                   public void focusGained(FocusEvent e) {
                        myProxy.sendFromComponentInt("selected", 1);
                   public void focusLost(FocusEvent e) {
                        myProxy.sendFromComponentInt("selected", 0);
    it never pass in focusGained when I'm in fullscreen mode, whereas it work fine in a classic Frame.
    I go in fullscreen mode like this :
    public void setFullscreen (){
         GraphicsEnvironment ge = GraphicsEnvironment.getLocalGraphicsEnvironment();
         GraphicsDevice gd = ge.getDefaultScreenDevice ();
         GraphicsConfiguration gc = gd.getDefaultConfiguration ();
         Rectangle windowBounds = gc.getBounds();
    // resize my interface to the size of screen
         sendFromWindowIntInt ("resized", windowBounds.width, windowBounds.height);
         //System.out.println("largeur : "+ windowBounds.width +" hauteur : "+ windowBounds.height);
         JWindow win = new JWindow () ;
         win.setContentPane(window.getContentPane());
         gd.setFullScreenWindow (win) ;
         win.requestFocus();
    Got an Idea?
    thanks a lot.

  • Problem with an update page.

    I have a problem with an update page on my website
    Here's how it work
    values are defualted in from the advert table  - this works fine
    I should then be able to change the fields and click on the update button
    This works fine but ONLY when the O_year field is populated.
    There doesn't seem to be anything special about the O_year field
    I thought spry text validation would of been causing the issues, but I removed them and have the same problem.
    For some reason the POST_MMupdate value is not being set to 'form4', which it is doing if O_year is set.
    Please can someone have a look at this, code,
    Also, is there a way of 'stepping through' dreamweaver code to debug it?

  • Problem with item of type DB column, reinitialized in a process

    Hello,
    I have a problem with an item P216_username with source type=database column(empty in this case). In a process On Load-After Header(with a sequence number bigger then the Fetch Row sequence number) , I change the value of this item:

    When I run the page, I see the item P216_USERNAME with the value from the database column(empty), instead of attributed value from the process('custom_value').
    Here is a copy of the page in a debug mode:

    Hi,
    Tomáš : I noticed that if i change the Source Used to 'Only when current value in session state is null' it works but I dont think its a normal behaviour.
    Scott: Thanks, it's working now with the post computation callculation attribute.
    Thanx for answers,
    Vastiana

  • Lots of problems with program

    Guys,
    I really am having a lot of problems with a program. I got the program to compile but it looks absolutely nothing like it is supposed to look. I have a deadline for tomorrow and sent my teacher an email but the chances of him getting back to me by tomorrow night for a weekend is pretty much slim to none. Anyways I am sending my output and if anyone could give me advice or feedback on why it does not look right if it is something small and if its alot of things go ahead and call me dumb.
    here is my code:

    Create a panel containing an array of 16 TextArea components that change color to correspond with the start, stop, and step values entered by the user. Perform the following tasks to create the Checkerboard Array application shown below. When the user enters the start, stop, and step fields and then clicks the Go button, the results are also shown below.
    1.     Call your application Checkerboard.java
    2.     You will need the following variables declare them as private:
    a.     16 component TextArea array
    b.     a Panel to hold the array
    c.     3 TextField components with length of 10
    d.     3 int variables to receive the start, stop, and step values
    e.     3 Labels to display the words Start, Stop, and Step
    f.     a Go button
    g.     a Clear button
    h.     a Panel to hold the 3 TextFields, 3 Labels, and the 2 Buttons
    3.     Create a constructor method to:
    a.     construct each of the components declared above and initializes the start, stop, and step variables to zero (when constructing the TextArea components, use the following parameters: null, 3, 5, 3)
    b.     set the Frame layout to BorderLayout
    c.     write a for loop to loop the array and set each of the 16 TextArea components in that array so they cannot be edited. In the same loop, set each of the TextArea components text to be 1 more than the index number. Also in this same loop, set the background of each of the TextArea components to white.
    d.     set the Panel for the TextArea components to GridLayout with 4 rows, 4 columns, and both gaps set to 10
    e.     set the Panel for the TextFields, Labels, and button to GridLayout with 3 rows, 3 columns, and both gaps set to 5
    f.     add the components to their respective Panels
    g.     make the buttons clickable
    h.     place the Panels in the Frame put one in the NORTH and one in the CENTER
    i.     Enter the addWindowListener() method described in the chapter this is the method that overrides the click of the X so it terminates the application
    4.     In your actionPerformed() method:
    a.     convert the data in your TextFields to int and store them in the variables declared above
    b.     write a loop that goes through the array setting every background color to blue
    c.     write another loop thats based on the user inputs. Each time the loop is executed, change the background color to yellow (so start your loop at the users specified starting condition. Youll stop at the users specified stopping value. Youll change the fields to yellow every time you increment your loop based on the step value. REMEMBER: Your displayed values are 1 off from your index numbers!!)
    5.     Write a main() method that creates an instance of the Checkerboard Frame.
    a.     set the bounds for the frame to 50, 100, 300, 400
    b.     set the title bar caption to Checkerboard Array
    c.     use the setVisible() method to display the application Frame during execution
    6.     After you get all of this complete, include error handling to make sure:
    a.     the values entered in the TextFields are valid integers
    b.     the start value is greater than or equal to 1 and less than or equal to 16
    c.     the stop value is greater than or equal to 1 and less than or equal to 16
    d.     the step value is greater than or equal to 1 and less than or equal to 16
    e.     the start condition is less than the stop condition
    f.     when an error occurs, give an error message in a dialog box that is specific to their error, remove the text from the invalid field, and put the cursor in that field so the user has a chance to re-enter this can be accomplished by using multiple try/catch statements
    g.     only change the colors if the numbers are valid
    7.     Create a clear button as seen in the example below. This button should:
    a.     clear out all 3 TextFields
    b.     change the background color of all TextArea array elements to white
    c.     put the cursor in the start field
    8.     Document!!
    I know you guys are probably busy with your own stuff but any help and I would certainly appreciate it

    got the yellow boxes to come up but just one box.....so is there something wrong with my yellow set background because I am not seeing any more errors

  • Printing problem with WindowsXP

    I've written a Java application using SDK v1.4.0 and this class works with all printers and Windows versions (95, 98, ME) on the several PCs I've tested it on except the machine running WindowsXP. Using WindowsXP, the page prints out the border around the textArea, but not the text. This problem occurs with both HPDeskJet and HPLaserJet printers connected to that PC.
    Has anyone seen a similar problem with WindowsXP? What should I change in this class, or change in the PC/printer properties, to get this print class to work with WindowsXP? All PCs tested are running Java v1.4.0.
    Russ Carroll
    (class code follows below)
    class ButtonHandlerPrint extends Frame implements ActionListener{
         public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e){
              PageAttributes pageAttributes = new PageAttributes();
              pageAttributes.setPrintQuality(3);
              PrintJob pjob = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getPrintJob(this,null,null,pageAttributes);
              if(pjob!=null){
                   Graphics pg = pjob.getGraphics();
                   if(pg!=null){
                        pg.translate(50,50);
                        textAreawinBCP.printAll(pg);
                        pg.dispose();
                   pjob.end();

    Did you find a fix for this problem? I have a similar problem with Win 2000 and JRE 1.4.0.01. My print works with Java 1.2 methods and prints fine in JRE 1.3.1 in Win 98,Me,2000, and prints fine in JRE 1.4.0.01 in Win 98 and Me but not in 2000. The problem sounds similar, but my text in a table doesn't print. I do get text printed that is in a text field.

  • Problem with the GridBagLayout Manager

    Hello i am new to Java Swing and i am facing a problem with the GridBagLayout layout manager . the code in question is attached. First compile and run the code. It will execute w/o probs . Then go to the "Console" tab. There the diff components (6 buttons and 1 text area) are haphazardly arranged where as all measures where taken to prevent it in the code. The GridBagLayout manager for this tab is not working properly please help.

  • Problem with TLF - floating an inline image

    I am running the latest version of Flash Builder 4 (4.0.1).  The problem that I having:
    When I use an InlineGraphicsElement if aTextFlow (in a RichEditableText component), if I set a value for the "float" attribute of an <img> element; the image is not visible.  Without the float attribute, I see the image.
    Is this a version problem with TLF?  How do I know which version of TLF that I'm using?  How do I install the correct version of TLF?

    A bit of MXML code:
        <s:Group id="myGroup" width="100%" height="100%">
            <s:RichEditableText id="myRichText" lineBreak="toFit">
            </s:RichEditableText>
            <!--- Do not set the height of the RichEditableText - since it seems to prevent the appearance of the vertical scroll bars -->
        </s:Group>
    And some Actionscript that adds components:
                scroller = new SxScroller();
                scroller.dx = dxScroller;
                scroller.dy = dyScroller;
                scroller.addEventListener(FlexEvent.CREATION_COMPLETE,scrollerEvent);
                scroller.addEventListener(FlexEvent.UPDATE_COMPLETE,scrollerEvent);
                richText = scroller.richText;
                richText.editable = false;  // textCharacter.enableEdit; // probably false.  TODO:  support true???
                richText.selectable = true; // required
                richText.width = dxRichText;
    And finally the import of a TextFlow string:
    richText.textFlow = TextFlowUtil.importFromString(textFlowString, WhiteSpaceCollapse.PRESERVE);

    On the TextFlow forum I found the answer:
    Use Flash Builder Hero, since it support TLF 2.0 out-of-the-box.  The InlineGraphics support several valuable attributes, including float="left" etc.
    Beautiful.

  • Problems with Greek accented characters

    After the update to AIR 2.0.2 I cannot input into any application greek with accented characters.
    Tried TweetDeck and Twhirl and neither work (used to before the update)
    Is this a bug or it needs some configuration
    I am working on Fedora13 but heard the same problem reported on Ubuntu.
    Have not tried on MS Windows or MacOSX

    Hi,
    I'm using Adobe AIR 2.0.3 on Windows machine. I wrote an app in Aptana Studio (build: 2.0.5.1278522500) with ExtJS library and I found the problem with polish national characters like ż and Ż (all the other national characters like ą, ę, ń are possible to input).
    In order to reproduce, here you have the sample code in ExtJS:
    http://dev.sencha.com/deploy/dev/examples/form/anchoring.html
    As you will see - it is possible to input ż and Ż in text fields.
    Now, use the same code to build AIR applicaton and then run the application. It is not possible to input those characters in Air window. Right Alt+z acts like undo operation - it removes last entered text. All the other characters work fine.
    Here is the code I used:
    <html>
        <head>
            <title>New Adobe AIR Project</title>
            <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="lib/ext/resources/css/ext-all.css" />

            <script type="text/javascript" src="lib/ext/adapter/ext/ext-base.js"></script>
               <script type="text/javascript" src="lib/ext/ext-all.js"></script>
            <script type="text/javascript" src="lib/ext/air/ext-air.js"></script>
            <script type="text/javascript">
            Ext.onReady(function(){
        var form = new Ext.form.FormPanel({
            baseCls: 'x-plain',
            labelWidth: 55,
            defaultType: 'textfield',
            items: [{
                fieldLabel: 'Send To',
                name: 'to',
                anchor:'100%'  // anchor width by percentage
                fieldLabel: 'Subject',
                name: 'subject',
                anchor: '100%'  // anchor width by percentage
                xtype: 'textarea',
                hideLabel: true,
                name: 'msg',
                anchor: '100% -53'  // anchor width by percentage and height by raw adjustment
        var window = new Ext.Window({
            title: 'Resize Me',
            width: 500,
            height:300,
            minWidth: 300,
            minHeight: 200,
            layout: 'fit',
            plain:true,
            bodyStyle:'padding:5px;',
            buttonAlign:'center',
            items: form,
            buttons: [{
                text: 'Send'
                text: 'Cancel'
        window.show();
            </script>
        </head>
        <body>
        </body>
    </html>
    Is it possible to input those characters or is there a workaround for this (disable undo operation or so) ?
    I really appreciate any help.
    Kind regards,
    Marcin.
