CFGRID & Required Database Fields

Maybe I'm stupid, or maybe it's the 100 degree temperature in the office at the moment, but I'm playing with CFGRID for the first time and having a complete moron moment. I pass a URL variable to my CFGRID page which I use in the WHERE statement of my query, thus allowing me to pull only select records from the database into my grid. But, how do you pass that same value when the user inserts a new row into CFGRID? I somewhat accomplished it using the VALUES attribute of the CFGRIDCOLUMN tag, but that creates a drop-down menu versus just pre-filling the cell, even when there is only one value to select. Ideally I would like to prefill this column on new row inserts, restrict editing, and DISPLAY=NO if at all possible.

Depeneds on how you styled it, but no. Nothing like that happens by default. You will have to use javascript to say if elements are empty to do something if you need to.

  • Database fields empty after creating a new (Crystal) Report in MSY

    Hello,
    I have some issues to use Crystal Reports in Mobile Sales Maintenance (MSY). The situation is as follows
    My example is based on this standard report, which is working
    Report Name: BPartnerActivities
    Reporting Tool: Crystal Reports
    Category: Standard reports
    Subcategory: Lists
    Report Type: Report
    Data Source: Business Content provider
    Business Content Provider: BPActivities
    My requirement is to build a new report, which is based on the standard "BPartnerActivities" Report. If I use the "copy" functionality, I get an working Copy of the standard report. However, I need to modify the Business Content Provider, but I do not want to make the modifications on the standard content provider "BPActivities".
    I am now forced to used the "copy" functionality to create a copy from "BPActivities" for my own Content Provider "My BPActivities copy", which I want to use in a new report.
    Issue:
    I cannot modify the defined Business Content Provider after using the "copy" functionality and hence forced to create a new report from scratch to be able to set a different Content Provider.
    I create my own report "MyBPartnerActivities" based on the standard report "BPartnerActivities" using the same settings and assign my new business content provider.
    If I use the "Design Report" or "Modify Report" button, the Crystal Report designer pops up. Now the problem, the Crystal Report designer does not offer me any data below "Database fields".
    In the standard report, the "Database fields" has a child element "BOACTIVITY-ttx" with several field options. My own created report from sratch does now have anything?!
    Why my report does not offer my any data or is there anything additional to do?
    Another Test
    I tried to create another report using the standard content provider "BPActivities", but I have still the same issue.
    In addition I recongized that the "browse data" fuctionality does not work on the fields in the standard report. The path to the database file does not exist. It starts with "C:\WINNT\...", but my system has "C:\WINDOWS\...". But the executed report is able to retriev the data?!
    Unfortunately was not able to find any proper documentation, but I would really appreciate any help.
    Regards,
    Andreas

    Update
    It looks like that the *.ttx file is not uploaded/create to/on the MSY system. The system shows the file in the Crystal Report Designer, but there is no file on the file system. The confusing thing is, that any standard report is still working and does not really complain about a missing ttx file. I think the content of the ttx file is somehow embeded to the report.
    Does someone know how the system should behave? Should a ttx file be automatically created & assigned to any new report or do I have to create the file by my own every time?
    Cheers,
    Andreas

  • Can you schedule a report to send to a email address that is pulled from a database field?

    Post Author: huber.molly
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
    Currently, we are collecting email addresses in a database field. We want to send the generated reports to only these email addresses. Is there a way to add a dynamic value to the "To:" field when scheduling a report?
    The goal is to schedule the reports and let them be sent to these addresses so it removes the step of manually entering the addresses.

    It's not clear what tool you are using to schedule your reports.This may require a 3rd-party tool.  See list of such tools at: http://www.kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html. My Visual CUT software allows you to drag & drop an email field/formula from the report itself into the "Email To" option, to dynamically drive email options by the data in the report.  Alternatively, it allows you to use an SQL Query or a Text file to specify email addresses.- Ido

  • Insert Image to table from a Non Database Field

    Hallo,
    db- 9i EE R2
    forms - 6i R2
    OS - W2003
    I have a requirement to upload Images to the database from forms.
    I planned to keep the transaction data and the Images separately in different tables with a reference.
    So, I created the Image field (BLOB)  with a Non Database Field in the Form and use a button to upload the Image. (using READ_IMAGE_FILE).
    I tried to insert the Image to the Actual Image table in PRE-INSERT Trigger at block level.
    But I was not able to Insert the using reference method.  (Cannot compile the PRE-INSERT)
          INSERT INTO IMAGE_TB (ID,IMAGE)
           VALUES (IMAGE_SEQ.NEXTVAL, :ITINERARY_MAP.IMAGE);
    So, Please help me to insert a image to different table from a Non Database Field?
    Thanks

    I don't think it will work with a non-db-item. But you could create a separate block based on your image_tb-table, use read_image_file on the then db-based-column and then simpy issue a commit_form.

  • How to read the source file and copy the entire content to the target Database field

    Hi All,
    PI system extracts the actual business content from the incoming attachment file and copy the entire format to the target Database field which is a blob data type field.
    Sender Adapter: SOAP
    Receiver Adapter: JDBC
    JDBC Structure
    Can we achived the above requirement by using UDF with out Java Mapping?
    Thanks,
    Mahi.

    Ok, in this case yo can use the conten converion of the file adapter. Therefore you first need to create a Datatype in ESR with the required structure
    Then in your file adapter you need to use this datatype and its required fields:
    The Datatype then can be used as usual within you mapping.

  • Number database field treated as String in formula when using 64bit runtime

    Hey just a quick shout out to those with the above problem or those following the now "closed but unanswered" thread by the same name - if you're getting "A string is required here" error messages after switching over to the 64-bit runtime, or other weird loss of formatting issues, then try turning off the "Verify on First Refresh" or "Verify Stored Procedures on First Refresh" options in File | Report Options... as the case may be.

  • Use formsweb.cfg to pre-populate database field on login screen?

    Hello,
    Is it possible to configure formsweb.cfg to pre-populate the 'Database' field on the Oracle forms login screen? I still want users to be able to overwrite what's entered there but just have it populated with something by default.

    Hi,
    In Forms 10g you can set the userid parameter to something like "@DATABASEID LOGON_SCREEN=YES", where databaseid is your database server.
    In Forms 11g this doesn't work so well, but I got round this by doing the following in our menu form, if you haven't got a single menu form then you may need to do this in all your forms where the user isn't already logged on when the form opens.
    First off you need to set the userid parameter to something like "@DATABASEID".
    Next an on-logon trigger is required in your menu or first form, I used the following:
    on-logon trigger
    DECLARE
    cn VARCHAR2(80);
    BEGIN
    ** Get the connection info
    ** If userid paramater in formsweb.cfg is set to '@<database>' or
    ** '@<database> login_screen=true' then this will put <database> into database field
    ** in default logon form
    cn := Get_application_property(CONNECT_STRING);
    if instr(cn,' ') > 0
    then
    cn := substr(cn,1,instr(cn,' ')-1);
    end if;
    LOGON(null,'@'||cn,TRUE);
    if form_success
    then :global.login_success := 'TRUE';
    end if;
    END;
    Also, to deal with the situation where a user decides to click cancel in the logon screen, you need to put the following at the start of your wnfi trigger.
    when-new-forms-instance trigger
    default_value('FALSE','global.login_success');
    if :global.login_success != 'TRUE'
    then
    erase('global.login_success');
    exit_form;
    end if;
    erase('global.login_success');

  • Xml file, non database field etc..

    Hi,
    There is a requirement for putting a non database field in an
    infobus grid control and populating it with some value at the
    runtime. As this is not directly available in gridcontrol, many
    have tried using a join query as I could see from the
    postings.(Like select deptcode,desc from emp, dept where
    emp.deptcode = dept.deptcode). This works well when the data is
    queried from the database. But when a new deptcode is entered, it
    is not possible to get the corrosponding value from the database
    and show it on this field, as u get readonly attribute error.
    Even if u explicitly change the attribute to updateable the error
    will remain as such.
    The cause of this problem, I have tracked down to the xml file.
    The entity for the updateable table (in this case EMP) does not
    have the attribute for deptdesc. If this is manually added, it is
    possible to add values to the deptdesc column. The catch is when
    inserting a row to the database. All the attributes in the
    entity
    will appear in the insert statement and u end up with an invalid
    column name error for the deptdesc column.
    Seeing this consistant behaviour, I assume that the insert
    statement is created by parsing the xml file. Had there been an
    attribute value in the xml file for insert into database (just
    like IsNotNull etc.. perhaps IsUpdateable which can be set
    manually), while parsing this attribute can be removed.
    To do this I would like to know where this xml parser is
    implemented in jdev. Is it possible for me to change its
    behaviour or can I expect to get a patch for this? This
    functionaliy is very much essential for me, as I am in the middle
    of a very large project using jdev2.0. I don't mind implementing
    it, if the source is available.
    Any helpful suggestions, comments are welcome. Sorry for the long
    post and thanks
