Challenge: Spanning Tree Control Between 2 links from Switch DELL M6220 to 2 links towards 2 switches CISCO 3750 connected with an stack (behavior like one switch for redundancy)

I have an Spanning tree problem when i conect 2 links from Switch DELL M6220 (there are blades to virtual machines too) to 2 links towards 2 switches CISCO 3750 connected with an stack (behavior like one switch for redundancy, with one IP of management)
In dell virtual machine is Spanning tree rapid stp, and in 3750 is Spanning tree mode pvst, cisco says that this is not important, only is longer time to create the tree.
I dont know but do you like this solutions i want to try on sunday?:
Could Spanning tree needs to work to send one native vlan to negociate the bdpus? switchport trunk native vlan 250
Is it better to put spanning-tree guard root in both 3750 in the ports to mitigate DELL to be root in Spanning Tree?
Is it better to put spanning- tree port-priority in the ports of Swicht Dell?

Hi all,
Presuming that we connect 2 NICs with the same MAC to one switch (port1 and port2), what would a switch handle such condition? Will the MAC table be messed up?
Actually, in a cloud computing environment, different VMs from different customer might connect with the same virtual switch and both VM could have the same MAC and/or IP address.
I just wondering how could a switch handle this.

It breaks the fundamentals of switching to have TWO separate physical ports registering the same MAC address in the CAM table. As he mentioned, the switch would have to constantly rewrite the CAM entry each time a frame appears from a different physical interface.
If the two identical MAC addresses appeared on the same physical port, that does not break any "rules" of switching - all you would see is 1 entry in the switch for that physical interface.
As for your follow-up question regarding the cloud environment. I can't say I have any experience in that type of environment, but I would say that Private VLANs might be one of the potential answers. -
I have a macbook pro in which i use for church recordings. it has a built in mic so like one hole for headphones and mic. how do i get it to only pick up the sound from the external mic that is coming into the mixer to the laptop. it seems to pick up everything, like for example any little movement i make or even just asking the next person a question will get picked up by the internal mic. is there a way i can mute the internal mic so it can only pick the external mic and not every movement im making like chewing etc

I have asked this question before. I thought it was tied to the website of my local newspaper since that seemed to be where it happened all the time. Tonight I was not on that site. I was in Tools>Add-ons, trying to switch from Plugins to Extensions when it locked up. Symptoms are the current tab will scroll up and down but no links work. No other tabs can be accessed. Tab cannot be closed. Tab shows "Connecting" with rotating busy icon. Firefox must be killed with the task manager. People have suggested deleting cookies and history - no effect unless I'm supposed to perform that action every few seconds in which case it's useless. Another suggestion was to deselect "Use hardware acceleration" in Tools>Options. Also no apparent effect. I thought it might be related to Flash because I was getting a lot of messages about a plugin container not working for that. I disabled Flash and got the "Video without flash" add-on (what a POS!) which doesn't appear to work at all. Any help would be appreciated. I'm getting tired of killing Firefox a dozen times (or more) per day and may have to investigate another browser (Ugh!).After posting this question I went back to what I had long thought to be the problem website ( www.denverpost.com ) and was looking at the comics when it locked up again. HELP!

Can not connect with dhcp - renew dhcp lease will switch directly to manuel
If have the following problem
I us apple Airport extreme to connect to internet.
I have 5 Macs, all connecting with airport . They work fine with DHCP. Since 2 weeks I have a problem that one computer – a mac book pro with 10.5.6 will not connect.
When I switch to dhcp and select renew dhcp lease it switch directly back to manuell. I have no chance to connect with dhcp.
Has anyone a suggestion?

Whenever you have an issue like this where it's fine, then DHCP stops working for any reason.... Reset the PRAM.
How to:

After the third BONG or Apple Chime whatever you want to call it. The system's Parameter Ram or to the PC Crowd the CMOS has been reset. This resets your clock, brightness, volume, etc.... So things will get reset along the way but it also resets the IRQ and DMA stats on the logic board. Ala, reseting your Airport's Connection to the logic board, Controllers, etc. -

When I click a link in thunderbird and also on firefox it creates a new tab with nothing in it, a blank web page. If I click the link again it creates a new tab with the link. If i click it again, a blank tab, click it again,new tab with the correct info. It seems to work only on the even numbered clicks not the odd ones.
If you delete all the Adobe Reader stuff it will probably fix this. For almost everything, the Apple pdf handling works better.

I upgraded my old iphone 4s to an iPhone 6+ last Sunday (12/28). I've been trying to restore my settings and whatnot thru the icloud restore, and have been unsuccessful. The Wi-Fi connection isn't the problem, I'm not sure what is. The error message I keep getting is: "couldn't connect to icloud", it's been 5 days!! How do I fix this?

You could use a Windows 7 Pro version (or better version) PC and test CS2 for free to see if it's enough for what you need.

ISCSI traffic running across Cisco 3750 Switches
My customer has a small shop with 2 servers runnig iSCSI to a SAN device. They are looking for a switch recommendation and I would like to use a pair of Cisco 3750's, to take advantage of the VSS technology for redundancy,L3 and some other Core requirements, but I am concerned about performance.
I thought my other option is to use 3750E's but concerned about the added costs.The fabric and pps ratings for the 3750Gs don't support wire-rate for more than 16 gig ports. (Max performance for 3750G models is 38.7 Mpps and 32 Gbps fabric; for 3750-E it's 101.2 Mpps and 128 Gbps fabric [NB: pps is enough, slightly insufficent fabric bandwidth for 48 port models - similar 4948 offers 102 Mpps, 136 Gbps].)
Another performance limitation of the 3750s (and to lessor extent the 3750-Es) is stack ring bandwidth. As best I can tell, the 32 Gbps is really dual 8 Gbps duplex (dual 16 Gbps duplex for -Es). An important distinction between the original StackWise technology and the later StackWise+, the former puts a copy of all traffic on the stack, the latter suppresses unnecessary unicast. The former also requires the sender to remove the traffic from the stack ring, the latter the destination removes the traffic. (I.e. the "+" technology, really is plus.)
For really, really demanding performance, a stack ring isn't the same as a chassis fabric (e.g. 4500s), and within a single switch, the lower end switch models, they can't always provide wire-rate for all their ports. However, the real question is whether you need this performance in a small shop even though iSCSI is being used.
In other words, its rare to see all ports demanding full bandwidth, so a stack of 48 port 3750Gs migtht work just fine for your customer if the actual need doesn't require more than the device can supply.
In similar situations, I present the customer with such facts. Based on what the expected load is, device "A" might work fine, but it can't guarantee performance beyond a certain level. If customer wants the capability for more performance, for growth or "just to be safe", can do too, here's your options (and extra cost) for that too.
BTW, if SAN devices can support 10gig, then you'll need something better than the 3750G since the model with a single 10gig port has been discontinued. -

Lingu.......When you set the dataProvider for your tree control, you actually pass an array or arraycollection or whatever to that property. The array contains objects coming from your server, right? Each object should contain a property with the folder id, something like:
var arr:Array = [{id: 1, folderID: 34, name: "..."}, {id: 2, folderID: 4, name: "..."}, ...];
Now, when you click an item in your tree or your dataGrid, you can access the folder id by:
myTree.selectedItem.folderID

CSS Bridging and Spanning-tree

I have a configuration where I have two CSS attached to two WS 3550 switches. I'd like to connect an interface from each VLAN on each CSS to both 3550 switches (see attached). I have a problem when both of the interfaces are active in a VLAN. The spanning tree breaks down (both CSS see themselves as the root and one of the 3550's becomes the root for the two 3550's). Additionally, I had a situation where the ISL link between the 3550's shut down due to excessive spanning-tree errors.
I looked into using unconditional bridging, but that would cause problems on the "outside" interfaces as we can't predict how the VLAN's will be configured on that side of the CSS. We actually have a split situation where layer-3 path forwarding decisions are preferable on hte outside and layer-2 path forwarding descisions are preferable inside.Wiwells,
Honestly, when I look at what you are doing, I feel you are making it overly redundant on the bridged side of things.
Why not simply connect each load balancer to only one switch rather than cross-connecting everything and then put a APP session between the load balancers? -
Sg-300 - 3750 stack with SPANNING-TREE root problem.
Morning. I think ive configured a few hundred switches, maybe a thousand in my time, but never have a faced such horribleness that is the SG-300. After this week, I think ill refuse to touch them.
Got 2 voice vlans and running a few vrf's on a 3750 stack. but this discussion is about layer 2.
2 x 3750 stacked
1 x voice switch sg-300 company A voice vlan 18 - Po1 up to 3750 distributed etherchannel Po1 (LACP active both sides) 2 ports in channel
1 x voice switch sg-300 company B voice vlan 19 - Po1 up to 3750 distributed etherchannel Po2 (LACP active both sides) 2 ports in channel
Allowed vlans on both sides (command on Port-channel) are data A, Voice A, Mgt A to switch A
Allowed vlans on both sides (command on Port-channel) are data B, Voice B, Mgt B to switch B
It seems that these switches are limited to one voice vlan....
and that spanning tree BPDU's are ignored (or not recevied- havnt released the shark yet). let me explain.
originally when using "smart port" the switch with the lowest mac address, whatever Voice vlan was configured would take over the other switche's voice vlan, argh what a nightmare.
I gave up on the GUI as its far to complcated and have Almost got this working.
I am now using auto voice vlan, but have disabled smart macro. I hope that disabling smart macro stop other switches from learning the switch with the lowest mac address's voice vlan. So far so good - in the LAB. No where was it documented in the cli guide how do disable this stupid feature.
DHCP is working from scope on core, can mange the switches etc etc, access vlan voice vlan all good (after a monster battle).
Now I have an issue with spanning tree.
spanning tree priority for vlans 1-4094 on the 3750 is 4096.
spanning tree priority for vlans 1-4094 on the SG-300's is 6xxxx.
ALL switches think that they are the root. (well the "logical" 3 of them) The 3750's for all vlans, and the SG-300 for the one instance as it doesnt support per vlan. (I am not interested in trying MST here..this is not a datacentre)
On the 3750's Ive tried ieee, pvst, rpvst, while matching the non per-vlan equivalent on the SG series.
What is the difference between a General port and Trunk Port on a SG-300 specific to spanning tree, native vlans (when you can just configure an untagged vlan anyway!!) and what is the relevance to the way the bpdu's are carried?
And why the need for a PVID, when you can tell a port what is tagged and what isnt.
Does the trunk need Vlan1 to be explicitly allowed, and untagged? Does the Po trunk need to be a general port with PVID configured? in vlan 1?
I need to sort this, as cannot put an access switch into production that thinks it is the root of the tree. I wish I had a 2960.... a 3500XL..anything
