Change ABAP Constant Value in production

Hi all,
I'm VERY new to ABAP and I have a requirement to change the value of a constant in production to point to a different server path. When I try to edit the code I am told that since its transportable I need to use the modification options.
Basically I want to change
SERVER_PATH TYPE string VALUE '
bwdevt\bwdtemp',
to
SERVER_PATH TYPE string VALUE '
bwpsrv\bwptemp',
Can someone give me the clear steps to do this

You are right. You need to build logic for different clients viz Development, production etc.
Add following logic in Development & move the transport to subequent systems:
BWD and BWP
if sy-sysid = 'BWD'.
server_path = '\bwdevtbwdtemp'.
elseif sy-sysid = 'BWP'.
server_path = '\bwpsrvbwptemp'.
endif.

Thanks for reply. I am maintained in diff value maintained routing , Ex :First routing i have work center 'X' value maintained as a setup time in 15 Min's and operation time 10 Min's
second work center 'Y' I have maintained as set up time 10 Min's and operation time 30 Min's,
Now I want to change the work center in production order as a 'Y' so whatever value maintained in routing , it has to be changed automatically (10 min's and 30 Min's), but system will not change only old value only picked (15Min's AND 10 Min's).
Now I think you get to know what the client requirement, kindly do the need full.

BI-IP: Change of characteristic value in ABAP EXIT planning function

I have created a planning function of the type EXIT with reference data without blocks. In method IF_RSPLFA_SRVTYPE_IMP_EXEC_REF~EXECUTE I am going to implement my code.
Now, one of the purposes is to update the VALIDTO of an existing record. Is it possible to modify the characteristic values directly in C_TH_DATA (thus allowing me to just update the date directly on the record) or can I only append records?

Hi Larse,
Yes you can change directly your value in a record withou appending a new one,but still it will create 2 records in the delta buffer ready to be save to the cube.

Assigning a Constant Value for Target Revenue

Today I faced same issue and I read your thread.
I saw the responses given by others and I feel its a shallow solution hardcoding the key figure to a constant value..because key figure is meant to change.
I solved it by altering the Aggregation level in an key figure infoobject.
The Aggregation must read MIN..Exception aggregation may be SUM..
and the characteristic on which aggregation must the infoobject that determines the unique value of the Infoobject..eg GJAHR/MONAT from R/3.
This will give the result as (where Target is the non-aggregated Key figure)
Plant   Year    Target            Document No   Production value
110      2004    1000000           1                        10
110      2005    2000000           20                       20
110      2004    1000000           2                         15.
200      2005     40000             100                      50
110       2005    2000000          21                       23
The target value here depends only on Plant and Year..and stays constant for the unique combination of the 2.
U dont need to change the BEx status of any key figure..
I know the forum post I am putting is of no use..but someday someone who needs an answer urgently please do read this.

Adding new constant value to an 'enum' used in a field causes an exception

We are using the DPL. I added a new constant to an enum that is used as a field on an entity called Booking (this field is not a key). This seems to cause an exception during onForeignKeyDelete when we delete an object from a related entity. The constraint is a "NULLIFY" on a "MANY_TO_ONE" relationship, so the effect should be just to nullify the Booking foreign key, but for some reason the fields are being checked and causing this exception. Shouldn't it be possible to add a new constant value to an enum without having to do some sort of migration? The stack is below. Note that the two types mentioned in the exception message are in fact the same (this is the enum). For the moment we can truncate our database, because we are still in development, but this would present a problem in production.

I've started investigating this and at first look it does appear to be a DPL bug. Over the next few days I'll look more deeply and report back here with what I find. If it is indeed a bug, we'll fix this for the next JE 4.0.x release and I'll make the fix available to you.
You are correct that adding enum values is allowed without a conversion of any kind. The only change you should have to make, other than adding the enum value, is to bump the version of the containing entity in the @Entity annotation. I'm suspect you've already done that, but if you hadn't, it wouldn't cause the problem you're seeing.
We have tested the addition of enum values, but not in combination with foreign key deletion and the NULLIFY constraint, I'm afraid.
If I'm correct about it, the bug is specific to adding enum values and deleting a secondary key with the NULLIFY constraint, prior to re-writing the entity in some other way. So if the entity is updated (written) before the secondary key is deleted, then the problem should not occur. Therefore, one workaround is to call EntityStore.evolve after adding the enum value, and before using the store in other ways.

Debug - Replacing constant values

Anyone know if there is a way to replace a value in debug of a data item declared as a constant ?

The problem is, I have a submit of another abap in the debugged program, one of the parameters for this submit is the user which is being set with a constant value. The user in the constant value, does not have appropriate authorisation to perform the task in the submitted program, so I wanted to be able to change it in debug.
SUBMIT ZBXXXXXXXX
 USER C_USER <--- constant value containing user
 VIA JOB P_JOBNAME
 NUMBER P_JOBNUM
 WITH P_KEY IN INDEXKEY
 WITH P_JOB EQ P_JOBNUM

If I can't change the value of C_USER then I don't think I can easily change the user being used to call the submit without changing the program.

Adding new field with constant value for pre-existing records

Hi,
I have to introduce in different tables (ztable and standard one) a new field, containing the company code. The problem is that all the records already inserted in these tables should be filled with a particular company code ('DD01').
I'd like to have this field automatically filled with a constant value without having to develop a program in order to update all the preexisting data. The reason is that cardinality of these tables is aroud 100 Millions of rec....
Ideal solution should be to have some rule/routine defined in the data dictionary CR, so to get the field value during the import of the related CR.
I've seen that is possible to define routine, but only for maintainance view (so new records..). If I open the db view, the situation is the following (example):

If I were you, I will not look for another solution, because it's pretty easy task for ABAP.
It can be solved within 1 line:
UPDATE ztable SET zzcompany = 'DD01' WHERE zzcompany = ''.

IPC pricing gross value for products in catalog

In ISA b2b application I need to add a new column with gross value for products in catalog. Here is how I've tryed :

The problem is that the gross value is the same with the net value.
I've try also using item.getItemPrice().getPriceInfo().getAllPriceInfos()
where item is WebCatItem, and retrive an array of PriceInfo (s) with only one PriceInfo object which has the type netValue.
Then in the backendobject-config.xml I've modify the priceTypes attribute value for BO "CatPriceCalc", but without any succes. Here is the snippet:

Hi Bodgan,
 It seems that some values like tax, discount are not being calculated by IPC as required parameters are not sufficient enough to differentiate between the two. You can run catalog pricing analysis and see what are the gross and net pricing value. You can update the extra parameters to IPC by extending the class you mentioned and modify backend config xml file to use that class for ISA.

Custom: use constant value in relationship between objects?

I have two related classes:
* Class A uses application identity, and has multiple PK fields, PK1 and
PK2.
* Class B has a 1-many relationship with class A. However, class B's
database table only has a column that relates to Class A's PK2 column.
(the PK1 value is a constant) for all Class B objects).
I have no idea how to express this relationship via kodo. Can anyone
assist?

What I've chosen to do is add a new DB column to my table which has a
constant value (ie: is the same for every row). Then I can join with it.
I'd request this simple feature to be added in a future release: the
ability to specify a literarl constant value as part of the join
criteria in the metadata. It could be very easily added: instead of
specifying a column containing the join value, you could put the literal
into the .jdo file.

Unable to change the parameter value in the configtool

In the Configtool I have changed the custom value to u2018TRUEu2019 of the key u201Cume.superadmin.activatedu201D under Cluster-data -> instance -> server -> services -> com.sap.security.caore.ume.service. Now I am trying to change the value again to u2018FALSEu2019 but the value is not getting updated even after the server is restarted OS level. Please advise.
System details:
SAP: PI 7.0
DB: MS SQL 2000
OS: Windows 2003 server

There are a variety of reasons why this is not getting reflected :
1) When you make changes if you use an AS ABAP or LDAP directory as the data source. The default values of the UME properties assume the database of the AS Java as the data source. This requires you to reconfigure the data source before you can restart the AS Java.
2) The cluster nodes have not been restarted after the changes
3) Changes apart from global configuration have also been made elsewhere.
4)properties as described in Editing UME Properties.
Editing UME Setting:
a) Start the Config Tool by executing
\j2
ee\configtool\configtool.bat.
b) In the tree, navigate to Global server
configuration services com.sap.security.core.ume.
service.
The list of UME properties appears.

How to Sort Dimension in Pivot Table via Order Column which is changing like Factual values

Recently in of our product offerings we got stuck on this following question:
How to Sort Dimension based on the Order Value which Keeps Changing with Factual Values??
We have a data source laid out as (example)
In the above the “Order” columns are changing per
Company/(DimensionA) for DimesnsionB.
Instead what we want is: (But only if we can get the following result without putting the “Order” Column in the “Values” Section.
If there are any configurations that we can make to our power pivot model for the similar data set so that the
DimesnionB in this case can be sorted by the Order column, would be greatly helpful to us.

According to your description, you need to sort dimension members in Pivot Table via order column, and you don't want the order column show on the Pivot table, right?
Based on my research, we can sort the data on the Pivot table based on one of the columns in that table, and we cannot sort the data based on the columns that not existed on the Pivot table. So in your scenario, to achieve your requirement, you can
add the column to pivot table and hide it.

Change Condition Base Value in Billing Process.

Dear SAP experts
for now, In third-party process, condtion base value of billing only come from oder doc's.
but we want to change condition base value of billing from PO doc's for some condition type.
(actually, we want PO Quantity as a condition base value in billing process)
where can i apply alternative solution?

HI,
To elaborate, you can change the condition base value settings in the pricing procedure for the condition type.
Take help of ABAPer and let him know what exact qty or value you want system to pick up while processing billing docs.
Prior to do any changes, please also ceck if the new changes are impacting any old logics...
