Change currently active LV version in batch script

Hello,
I use two different applications on my computer and one of them should run in LV 2011, the other one in LV 2012. Both versions are installed and it works fine as long as I start the correct LV version manually before starting the application (by starting and closing the required LV version from C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\... before starting my application).
I want to do this automatically in a command script, so basically I want to do the following:
* Check which LV version is currently active (which LV version was started last)
* If the currently active LV version is NOT the required one: change to the required LV version (by starting LV and closing it, or preferably doing it differently if someone could tell me how)
* If the currently active LV version is the required one: Do nothing
There are two problems I could not solve so far:
* How do I get the currently active LV version (I checked windows registry, but I only see my installed LV versions, and not which one is currently active)
* How can I close LV with a batch script (or how can I change the currently active LV version w/o opening and closing it)
Thanks in advance,
  Tobias
PS: I did the same for different TestStand versions, by reading out the TestStand system environment variable and if requuired changing the TestStand version via the command line of the TS Version Selector. This works fine, but there is no system environement variable that tells the currently active LV version.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

They might have different toolkits installed. Block diagrams on our old projects are included, but on our new projects we plan to not include them anymore. Driver compatibilty is a problem that we check each time we have this situation with different versions to make sure that it is working as expected. On one project I did not install the new driver, but kept the old one to make sure there are no changes to the old project.
It is a problem when we execute old code with a newer LV version than the version was used during the validation of the same code. We probably would have to do some revalidation with the newer LV version and this is what I try to avoid (working in the medical device industry means a lot of validation).
I could not find the current LV version in the Windows registry. But it must be located somewhere, since TestStand gives the Active LV Version in the LV Adapter configuration and when I open a VI in Windows Explorer the last used LV version is started.
So my question is where does TestStand and Win Explorer read this out, since then I could read the same thing out in my batch script.

  • Changing the active JRE version between several available paths

    Hello, I need help with a rather risque subject.
    I know it isn't recommended, or preferable, but I need to upgrade the Java on a server that has to be maintained at as close to 100% availability as possible. Now, I can allow for the post-upgrade reboot time, but I can't afford to have the server be up, but none of the programs working because of the switch in java for any extended length of time.
    For this reason, I need to know how I can switch between versions which are installed in different directories (be it via registry or anything else).
    There must be some way to do this, and, tedious though it may be, I need to know it.
    Can anyone help?

    Now, I can allow for the post-upgrade reboot time, What is it? Why should the system be rebooted because a new program was installed? Is it vindoze?

    I have ColdFusion 8.0.1 (developer edition), IE6.0
    Thank you in advance for help

    I was about to type up a long answer on the fist thing to

    http://www.coldfusionguy.com/ColdFusion/blog/index.cfm/2007/11/13/CF8-AJAX-Features-CFIDES cripts-and-CFAjaxImport
    To summarize, you need to make sure the CFIDE/scripts/ folder
    is
    properly accessible. You should be able to type the following
    URL into
    a browser, unless you have your site configured in a
    non-default manner.
    http://yourDomain/CFIDE/Scripts/cfform.js

    If that does not return a file, then none of the built in

    You don't. You ignore it. The <embed> tag is not valid

    required to have reliable rendering of your Flash across

  • Determine if JRE version is compliant through Batch Script

    I am deploying multiple programs to remote systems. Some of the programs require JRE 1.41 or later to run. I would like to create a bat script to not only identify the JRE version, but identify if the client has a newer version of JRE. So far I have been able to identify the latest version. However, I do not know how to compare to a later version of JRE. For example lets say JRE version 6.0 comes out. At this point the program will probably be compliant with my machine, but I don't know how to make my script identify later versions, since batch files only compare and don't have many math features. I thought about doing a comparison between every java version that has been deployed.(I haven't even found a comprehensive list either) But this may not provide support for newer versions of JRE Any suggestions? Below is what I have so far.
    @echo off
    start /w regedit /e reg1.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment"
    type reg1.txt | find "CurrentVersion" > reg2.txt
    for /f "tokens=2 delims==" %%x in (reg2.txt) do set JavaTemp=%%~x
    if %JavaTemp% == 1.41 echo G2G
    if %JavaTemp% == 1.3 echo Failed. You need to upgrade JRE to at least 1.41

    does anyone know how (or if it's possible) to
    determine if a JRE is the international version?
    thanks.There is no API to provide this answer conclusively. However, one might guess.
    For example, in the non-localized JRE, you will not have the Japanese locale support. So you could do something like this:
    Locale[] supportedLocales = DateFormat.getAvailableLocales();
    If the Locale array contains a Locale for ja_JP, then you have the international version. It's simple, but perhaps not the cleanest way of determining the answer to your question.

  • Rename the current active file?

    I'm wanting a script to be able to rename open Photoshop files, if possible.
    I cobbled this together from an existing script:
    tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS5"
      activate
              set old_name to name of current document
              set dialog_result to display dialog ¬
                        "Rename active document:" default answer (old_name) ¬
                        buttons {"Cancel", "Rename"} default button 2 ¬
      with icon note
              if button returned of dialog_result = "Rename" then
                        set new_name to text returned of dialog_result
                        set d to properties of current document
                        if path of d is equal to missing value then
                                  set name of current document to new_name
                        else
                                  tell me to set the_file to POSIX file (d's path as text) as alias
                                  tell application "Finder"
                                            set name of the_file to new_name
                                  end tell
                        end if
              end if
    end tell
    If I run it it shows the dialogue window, but when I enter the new name and hit Return it throws out lots of errors.
    Is something like this possible?

    As Chris wrote Photoshop is not a File Editor. Photoshop edits Photoshop Documents the current Document may or may not have a file on the system created fron the active document.  If if does have a file assocatation I sure with scripting you can perform file operations on the file  like delete, rename, move etc.  However the will not change the active document name. Basicly document name is read only.... well sort of read only for if the current document does not have a file assocation and you save it into you file system The docoument becomes assocated with a file and Photoshop will change the active document name.  Aslo when you open a RAW file through ACR the inage image window or tab may show something like imagename.cr2 there is not actually a file associated with the document for Photoshop can not save a Camera RAW file so if you save it as PSD or TiFF the window or tab will now show the file assocation imagename.psd|tif  not .cr2. The document name does not always change with a save for if you save the PSD as a jpeg after the jpeg images is saved the document reverts back to its layered and color depth state  and is still imagename.psd.  There is no active document associated with that saved jpeg file. You can open it and have two document open that look the same one being layered a and perhaps 16bit and the other flat and 8bit.

  • Is there a version of the script "batch_convert.jsxbin" to Ind. CS6?

    Is there a version of the script "batch_convert.jsxbin" to Ind. CS6?
    Thanks...!!!

    Hello people, this script is really great, currently i have 83 indesign files in one folder which are often updated for a client (now as lowres PDF), script does job instead of me Sometimes Links files are not included, dunno why, we are not using Version Cue server over a year so all files are on my local HDD, but i used with great success app MainMenu to deep clean system cache, user cache, remove temp files and all that stuff so it is working now.
    I have one simply question, if it is possible to add to script settings like registration marks, bleed, CMYK settings (FOGRA etc.), simply all that stuff like in Print menu, when saving to a PostScript file for later Distilling. Thanks in advance. (For example, i have now created Print preset settings with automatic bleed (loaded from bleed settings in indd file), offset for registration etc. marks also 5 mm, highest transparency flattening settings, CMYK etc., it would be ideal to add these print settings to batch script, because these settings offered from Distiller (i use for big formats my own no resample settings derived from 300 DPI quality press settings) not include bleed).
    BTW i am really wondering why InDesign does not offer Actions like Photoshop, just for basic tasks, like this: I hit record, open InDesign file, press cmd+p, select my PRESS preset, save to .ps file, close window, stop recording. Then i select Batch processing, run this Action with custom from-to folders.

  • What is the right way to change the active JInternalFrame for and MDI app?

    I am working on my own implementation of the window menu. The action that is triggered when a customer chooses a window to activate from the list in the menu is not behaving as I expected. The code I wrote (below) switches frames correctly but the caption bar never gets updated and if you restore a frame from an icon the frame is not correctly activated, there is even a restore button which if you push fixes things up and the frame then behaves normally     if (frameToActivate.isIcon ())  {
              //  Restore from icon
              desktopPane().getDesktopManager().deiconifyFrame (frameToActivate);
         desktopPane().getDesktopManager().activateFrame (frameToActivate);
         desktopPane().setSelectedFrame (frameToActivate);I did a search of the web and found a tip on JavaWorld (http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-05-2001/jw-0525-mdi.html) which led me to try doing this from a different angle - the JInternalFrame's point of view. This code works     try {
              if (frameToActivate.isIcon ())  {
                   //  Restore from icon
                   frameToActivate.setIcon (false);
              frameToActivate.moveToFront();
              frameToActivate.setSelected (true);
         } catch (PropertyVetoException error) {
              error.printStackTrace();
         }My question is why does the desktop based approach not work? If methods exist that appear to let you restore and switch between frames why are the ineffective? Am I missing something obvious that I should be doing?
    If using the JInternalFrame methods is the right way to go then I will It just seems like if the DesktopManager has methods that advertise that is supports managing the active frame then they should work. Before I ignore them I want to check with you to see if there is a right way to use them.
    Ian

    So, this is another batch of duke dollars I cannot assign - since I solved my own problem:-)
    I had an epiphany and tried setting break points to see what code was executed when you click on an inactive frame. From that I determined that DefaultDesktopManager.activateFrame, as implemented, does not activate the frame but acknowledges the activation of a frame and does a small amount of bookeeping work for the DesktopManager. So, the solution is the code I wrote to switch focus using the JInternalFrame's methods. Since I did not want to have to write those nine lines of code in the couple of places I want to programmatically switch the active frame I added a get/setActiveFrame method to my JDesktopPane derivative. In case others face this problem here is the code (warning I have not yet setup building the JavaDocs for this project so I cannot vouch for the validity of the JavaDoc, but the code does work):/**
    * Bring frameToActivate to the front (restoring from icon if neccessary) and make it the
    * selected frame.  This method does all the things required to switch the active frame for
    * an MDI application unlike: @link JDesktopPane.setSelectedFrame, which does not change the
    * focus; @link javax.swing.DefaultDesktopManager.activateFrame which does not correctly
    * handle iconified frames or switch the focus properly; and
    * @link javax.swing.JInternalFramesetSelected which also does not handle iconified frames.
    * @param frameToActivate the frame to bring to the front and become the active window
    * @throws IllegalArgumentException
    public void setActiveFrame (JInternalFrame frameToActivate) throws IllegalArgumentException  {
        if (frameToActivate == null)
            throw new IllegalArgumentException ("setActiveFrame a frame must be passed a non null valie.");
        try {
            if (frameToActivate.isIcon ())  {
                //  Restore from icon
                frameToActivate.setIcon (false);
            frameToActivate.moveToFront();
            frameToActivate.setSelected (true);
        } catch (PropertyVetoException error) {
    * This method returns the currently active frame.  This method returns the same frame
    * as <code>getSelectedFrame</code> and is provided for symetry for <code>setActiveFrame</code>.
    * @return the currently active frame
    * @see LDesktopPane.setActiveFrame
    * @see javax.swing.JDesktopPane.getSelectedFrame

    Solution:
    Needs to modify "e9_tranfrmr_p3.stx" to point to "e6_nomatch_globrtr_p2_us.dat".

    Seems to be the DRM service went down, try running the batch after stopping & restarting the service.

  • Diff: Version on workflow builder and Maintain Active Plan version on SWU3

    Group,
    Can any one help me to understand the Version on workflow builder and Maintain Active Plan version on SWU3
    Thanks in advance !
    Richard A

    Dear Richard Antony,
    The Versioning in the Workflow is very important its some what simmilar to the version on any SAP Objets like Tables, Program etc.
    Here Suppose any change comes in working workflow, then in stead of directly change them you can create a version of them and them modify it. So that you can reverst back to that version if required.
    Like wise there is lots of importance of versioning Workflow.
    The Active Plan version is also important to establish at SWU3. As all the Workflow is using Organization management which is very depended on the Active Plan version. so based on which Plan version you want to use you can Provide in SWU3 to tell Workflow system to use this.
    Hope this will give you a clear picture.
    Regards,
    Chandrashekhar.

  • IPhoto won't open my library, it says I made changes with a newer version?

    I D/L'ed iPhoto library manager so that I could split my library because my startup disk is overfilling everytime I try to import photos. I tried using iPhoto lib manager to split my library into two. I created a new library. I also created a new album I dumped my pictures from '03-'07 into. After I did this IpHOTO started saying my original library was made by a newer version of iPhoto and couldn't be opened. I opened the library package to make sure I didn't lose 8000 pictures, luckily all of my pictures were still in the library and organized like usual (folders by year, month, and day). I was able to re-import all of my pictures but as you can imagine the dates were messed up, multiple events with only one picture yet there are 10 separate events for the same day and it also imported a bunch of low res thumbnails (AARRRGH!).
    The library manager still lets me choose to open my old library in iPhoto but when IpHOTO launches it gives me the error of being made by a newer version. I even bought iLife '09 *$$* to upgrade to the newest version of iPhoto available. I can still see my old albums in the library manager when my old library is selected but when I try to drag them into my new library I get this error message.
    "The library "iPhoto Library" needs to be upgraded to work with iPhoto version 8.0.3 before you can copy photos from it. Please open the library and let iPhoto upgrade it, then try the copy again."
    However I can't open this library with the newest version of iPhoto because when I do it says ..
    "You can’t open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto.
    You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto."!?
    What the? I'm using the newest version of iPhoto!! It couldn't have been changed by a newer version of iPhoto because there ISN'T ONE!
    This is soooo frustrating. I've dealt with corrupt iTunes folders all mixed up, with unknown errors occurring when I've tried to update to 10.5.6 and I've figured them both out but this is my bane at the current time!
    Any help would be greatly appreciated to keep my photos and vids organized. thanks much,
    Tim

    Duplicate response to your duplicate post
    Unless you opened the Library with a later version, then this is sometimes a symptom of database corruption.
    And one cause of library corruption is operating without adequate free disk space
    You must have a minimum of 10GB of free disk space to safely operate your Mac. Since you are having notices of inadequate space you almost certainly have much less than that - and the problem is exactly that - nothing to do with any program including iPhoto or IPLM
    You must free up space now before you can do anything to recover your photos - adding an external drive is the quickest and easiest
