Change default location for purchased movies ONLY in itunes

I need to know if there is a way to have purchased movies and TV shows strictly download to an external hard drive or do you have to move the entire itunes directory. This is for a client and they do not want to have to move each movie or TV show manually to the external drive and then re-import (understandable).

I haven't tried this but may do so soon. How about setting up symbolic links?
Close iTunes. Use Finder to make an iTunes director on the external drive. Let's say the drive is called "storage" and your music is in your home directory. In your main iTunes Music folder, move (not copy) the "Movies" and "TV Shows" folders to the external drive. In Teminal, create two symbolic links:
$ ln -s /volumes/storage/iTunes/Movies "~/Music/iTunes Music/Movies"
$ ln -s "/volumes/storage/iTunes/TV Shows" "~/Music/iTunes Music/TV Shows"
You may want to test this first on one of your CD are artist folders before moving a large directory. If the pathname has a space characters, you need to put quotes around the full path. The ~ refers to your home directory.
To anyone, please correct me if the path syntax is wrong for Mac OS X.

Iphoto 11 changed default location for pictures

Before upgrading to iphoto 11, the default location for uploading pictures used this (using a picture taken on July 31, 2011 as an example): iphotolibrary/masters/2011/July 31, 2011/[filename]. Now when I upload pictures, it goes to a completely different file location: iphotolibrary/masters/2011/07/31/[numbers]/[filename] and when I close and reopen iphoto, those new pictures do not show up, though the files are in the "new" location. Other than wanting to know why iphoto made these frustrating changes, the bottom line is how do I either change the default upload location so that it's back to what it was in the previous version, or how do I otherwise get iphoto to recognize the new default location?

1. You don't change anything inside the Library package. You'll trash the Library if you do. (Those numbers are the date and time of import, by the way)
2. Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Can i change the default location for my Adobe PDF printer?
i'm using QXP 7 and when printing i select Adobe PDF 7 and the same ppd. Now when clicked on print, it does not give the option to select the location. Is there any setting to change the location or tell the printer to prompt for the location?

Change "Default" location for chart legend

Hi,
By default, when you create a chartthe legend appears to the right of the chart itself. As a company all of our legends are at the top. Is there anyway to set the default location to be top rather than right?

Ex post you can do mass manipulation with catalog manager. But I assume you're looking for an ex ante solution and that's more tricky. The controlling tag

How do I change default location for file downloads, as in not "C" drive

Unsure where to make to changes so my downloads will go to another hard drive instead of the "C" drive under documents.

I can see how in organiser/ file/// to change the location that adobe downloader will place files but it does not stay as the 'new' default location. How do I do this?

Setting different default locations for different file types in iTunes ?

Point of this post is to find out if there is a way to have iTunes open tv and movie files from my time capsule and open music/music videos from my MacBook pro. I want to set up a network so any computer in the house can watch but have their own music library. Also even though I have 640 gb of space on my HD it's running out fast science I only have HD files I convert into m4v files. Is this possible or do I have to move all my iTunes to the time capsule and set that as the iTunes directory? When I had a PC it could pull up files from an external and from the laptop. Please tell me we didn't give pc's something we don't have.

Change default location for Titles?

Hi everyone,
My project has a couple bins. When I create a title, the title automatically gets saved in the 1st bin I created when starting the project.
This is rather anoying since I use that bin for other things.
Is it possible to change where titles get saved? It's getting a bit tiresome having to go through another bin to move the Titles over to the one I want them to be.

Ok.
I have found what I was doing wrong here.
It's because I had the Footage bin opened as a tab next to the "Project:Nameofproject" tab.
So every Titles created even if I had a bin selected in the Project's tab were automatically going in the Footage bin.
But if all your bins are closed (I mean you don't have tabs for it, meaning not opened in its own window), and select a bin from the Project's tab, then the title goes in the bin I selected.
So I did one last test:
I had multiple Bin tabs opened. Selected a bin that didn't have its own tab from the Project's tab, used the titler, and the title actually went in the bin that had its tab open last.
If you'd asked me, it would be nice if Titles would just go in the bin you select from the Project's tab regardless of bins that have their own window/tab.
Or maybe it is actually a bug, I don't know.

Our Users do not have permission to write tio th local hard disk by default some of the application are trying to create folders in user\user Profile\Adobe\....... How cam ye change this defauly location to the users home drive where they can create folders

Adjust your group policies and rewire your folders properly using this stuff rather than just mindlesssly blocking access to folders on the file system level.

I get the following message every time I try using My MacID which was set up in Japan: "This Apple ID is only valid for purchases in the Japanese iTunes Store. You will be switched to that Store." At one point... by which path I do not remember... I was instructed to created a new ID. I fill out the new ID forms, but the address is rejected each time... quite confusing. Does it want a new name? But it says I cannot use an apple domain (tag?) even though I guess it has to be an apple address... ? So I have iTunes crdit cards purchansed in Australia, can't spend in AUstralian iTunes Store, get directed back to Japan each time, and can't open a new ID... What am I doing wrong? You must have a separate Apple ID registered in the other store along with a valid bank-issued charge card in the other country, and a legal billing address in the other country.
Sorry... But... You cannot use other countries itunes stores.
You must be within the Country with a Valid Billing Address and Credit Card for that Country to use the iTunes Store of that Country..

Keeping purchased movies only on AppleTV

When I buy a movie on ATV, the movie copies to my computer, even though I have the sync option on "movies" unchecked.
How can I keep purchased movies ONLY on my ATV and NOT my computer.

Because AppleTV is not designed as a backup device and cannot be attached like a USB drive to read it's contents, it is impossible to manually retrieve files form AppleTV without jumping through unsupported hoops.
Thus, AppleTV always should sync back material to iTunes in order to keep the library in sync (the don't sync movies applies in the other direction only) with AppleTV, but more importantly to allow you to back up the purchase.
If AppleTV failed and you didn't have a backup you'd have lost all your media as iTunes doesn't support re-downloading files unless you're luck and support allows you to do so.
Locate the movie file by right clicking in iTunes, then make a backup say on a DVD or external drive. If you manually delete the file from it's folder but NOT VIA iTunes you'll free up space and the show remains on AppleTV as there's still a database entry in iTunes for it even though the actual file is gone.
This is a workaround , but useful for laptop users in particular.
An alternative strategy is to move big files onto an external drive then delete the entried from iTunes. Next change iTunes preferences no to copy files to the library then drag and drop the external drive files to iTunes - they stay where they are, allow you to sync to AppleTV or stream provided the drive is connected. When it isn't connected things stay on AppleTV as there's still a database entry for them.

So what is meant here is spend more money - wrong answer.
For that reason most people prefer to buy movies on DVD. They are easily shared, foolproof, and super easy to use. I love Apple TV and iTunes for music and TV shows, but I would never purchase a movie that was not on an optical disc.
When I head out-of-town I can grab a couple of DVDs to watch on my new MacBook Pro during the flight. Easy and uncomplicated.
DVDs offer another advantage. You can watch your movie without depending upon a complicated and delicate infrastructure. Also, movies are frequently censored for political correctness (Star Wars is a recent example). Despite public pressure for a release, the Disney movie “Song of the South” remains banned. Even cartoons like Johnny Quest are now censored. Only people who purchased physical copies years ago have them as they were originally produced.
When you possess a physical copy of the movie the PC patrol can't mess with it.

Ok, I made new tamplate (copy of existing one), there I changed Template Level Approval Process and set allowed resources. It seems to be ok :)
