  • Changing default picture viewer via GPO without changing image type and icon (Windows 7)

    Hello,
I am trying to change the default picture viewer for some file extensions (.bmp, .jpeg, .png and .tiff). Actually Windows Photo Viewer is the default viewer and we need to replace it with Microsoft Office Picture Manager.
I managed to do that change via GPO using the 'open with' preference under User Configuration\ Preferences\Control Panel Settings\Folder Options. So now the files are opened with Microsoft Office Picture Manager (office 2010). The problem is that the image
type became 'OIS.EXE' for all the specified file extensions. Moreover the icon is now the same (Microsoft Office 2010).
When I change manually the associated program for a file extension, the icon change but no the image type... this is different using GPO.
Is there a solution in order to change the default program but keeping the image type and associated icon ?
I tried to do that modification using the 'new file type' preference under Computer Configuration\Preferences\Control Panel Settings\Folder Options. I specified the 'open' action for OIS.exe, selected file extension BMP with associated class 'Bitmap Image'.
It solves the problem for image type, Microsoft Office Picture Manager opens the files ... but I have to specify the icon file path and icon index and I don't know where I can find the default icons for the file extensions ...
What is the best solution ? Am I right ? Am I doing something wrong ?
    Thank you in advance !

    Hello,
thank you very much for your answers.
For the rollback, I will reimport the original/default keys for all the image types, this should be ok.
Here are the problems I have trying to pu Microsoft Office Picture Manager as default picture viewer (I just want  .bmp, .jpg ... files to be opened with Microsoft Office Picture Manager by default).
1 Using new file type under Computer Configuration\Preferences\Control Panel Settings\folder options. : I define a new file type (BMP for example), associated class Bitmap Image, I configure the icon (imageres.dll,65) and an open action where OIS.EXE
is the application used to perform the action.
Result : Icon is correct, file type is correct, image files are opened with OIS.EXE (correct) ... BUT now Microsoft Office 2010 appears twice in open or open with menu
2 Using new open with under User configuration\Preferences\Control Panel Settings\Folder Options : new open with preference, action (update or replace same result), file extension BMP, associated program (path to OIS.EXE), i check set as default.
Result : Office 2010 opens image files (correct) but icon is Office 2010 one and the file type is now 'OIS.EXE' for all image file extensions I have specified ... so it won't be possible to sort the file by image type if I select that method...
3 Using ftype : OIS.EXE doesn't open the file when I double click on it but Microsoft Office 2010 appears twice in the open or open with list ...
I am a bit lost ... what is the best method to put Microsoft Office Picture Manager as default picture viewer, keeping the image type (Bitmap image, JPEG image etc) and without having Microsoft Office 2010 twice in the open or open with list ??
Last question : by default an image file is opened and previewed with Windows Photo viewer and edited with Paint. I would like just to open images with Office 2010 but keep Windows Photo viewer for preview and Paint for edit ... Is it possible ??
Thank you in advance for any help and support !!

  • Default picture viewer program

    Hi people,
I´ve tried to reset my default picture viewer program from Preview to XEE, I can do that in "show info", with the "open with/ change all" button.
However, next time I reboot it will be back to the "preview" default.
    Any ideas?
Does Snow Leopard´s preview "next" and "previous" arrows function?
I just want to open up a picture in any folder and go next and previous with the arrows........I´m still on Leopard now.
    Any help is appreciated!
    Not a Clue.

    Hang on,
I might be on to something here...........
I disabled the File Vault, changed the settings once again (pics with XEE, .doc documents with pages), rebooted a few times for test purposes, and SUCCES!!
Getting more confident I enabled the File Vault again and it still seems to remember XEE & Pages as my preferences!
    For now..........
Weird! I hope I don´t have to disable the file vault every time I want to change an "open with" preference.
    Hope this helps for others.........perhaps.
    Cheers,

  • I/Messaging and Instagram crash when I try to take a picture through them, Camera app works though

    Hi community.
I use an iPhone 4s that's about seven months old. When I open Instagram, I can freely browse through my following photo stream, explore profiles, etc. But when I open the page to edit or take my own picture, it crashes immediately. Same with i/Messaging - I select the option to take a photo or video and attach it to my message, but as soon as the shutter "clicks" the app crashes (this happened when texting both iPhone owners and non-owners).
However, I can take and save pictures using the Camera app perfectly fine and have no trouble attaching pictures to messages, so long as the photos were previously taken. No problems with screenshots or saving pictures from the internet either.
What could be the cause of this? Is it repairable? Thanks for your help.

For Instagram you can try and uninstall and reinstall the app and see if that fixes it. But if not you can try and resetting all settings, Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings.

  • QuickTime as Default Picture Viewer

I am working on an HP PC using Windows Vista. I recently downloaded the new iTunes + Quicktime software. I mistakenly allowed Quicktime to be my default picture viewer/everything. I don't want that. What is the Windows version and how can I get that back.

On a Windows computer you want to open the QT control panel and chose what file types you want QT to handle

  • Manual scroll in the default picture viewer?

On the picture viewer that came with my Droid X I can set it to slideshow by pressing the middle button, but is there anyway to scroll through the pictures manually?  I would think that there would be left and right keys to go back and forth.
If not, can anyone recommend a better picture viewer that does what I want? It seems strange that the picture viwer can't go back and forth manually.  And one of the buttons (the left one) just turns the camera on, as if there weren't already enough ways to launch the camera. The button on the right seems kinda superfluous too - those two buttons should be left and right arrows!
    Thanks

You can scroll left to right to go through the pictures.  Here are the steps for viewing your pictures. HTH!
From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located at the bottom of the display).
    Touch Gallery.Touch a gallery.
Touch the picture / video to view.
You will then slide your screen left to right to browse the pictures.

  • Simplest way to change a picture in an iPhone app

    Hi,
In my iPhone app, I want to make a settings pane where the user can choose a photo to display in a specific location of my app. Ideally, I want to have some default photos the user can choose from as well as take a new picture from the camera or select a photo from the photo roll. The settings are in a UITableView. What is the easiest way to change the picture of a UIImageView in the view I have built in interface builder?
    Thanks!

I think you just want to set the image property of your UIImageView, e.g.:
    [[imageView setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"Picture.jpg"]];
Of course if you already have a UIImage associated with your table you won't need the name of the file again.
Several sample apps are listed in the doc for the image property of UIImageView and the imageNamed method of UIImage:

  • Changing default PDF viewer

I need to change the default PDF viewer on a large number of computers
from Acrobat Professional to Reader. When I say "change the default," I
don't just mean the file association; I mean every default, including
    browser plug-ins.
When you install Acrobat or Reader on a computer on which the other has
already been installed, you get a prompt as to whether you want Acrobat
or Reader to be the default PDF viewer. I want to get at that
functionality, preferably by script. So far as I have been able to
discover, the ONLY way to get at that function is by uninstalling one of
    the programs and reinstalling it.
Is there a deployable way to do this? I prefer scripting methods, but
manual remote changes are good too.

I have no choice. This is what I've got to work with. And our Acrobat
software is controlled by a KeyServer, which is why I need Reader to be
the default (so as not to use up licenses for mere viewing of PDFs).
In any case, the two programs do know how to set a default between
themselves when you install the second one, so that functionality must
    exist somewhere, supported or not.

  • IPhone 3G S - Change Default PDF Viewer?

Have an iPhone 3GS. Bought Goodreader because I need a PDF viewer that has reflow ability. I also use dropbox to easily link to my important files. However, whenever I open a PDF file, it launches the default iPhone PDF viewer, which does not have reflow. There are ways to get my files into goodreader, but they are cumbersome. In any event, I really just want my default PDF viewer to be goodreader so every time I open any PDF file whether it be from an email, dropbox or whatever, it used goodreader. Is this possible? Thanks.

Thanks. I tried the g thing and that is a nice time saver. I know about dropboxes' web app to grab files. In fact, I'll use that with your g thing tip. Just trying to save the steps it takes to get it into goodreader from the dropbox web app. Being able to directly load from the dropbox iphone app would be better, but your g thing is quite a bit better than the next best alternative that currently exists. I still wish there was a way to make goodreader the default pdf viewer.. Thanks.

  • Best practice to change default gateway for HA-CAM

    Hi,
The next week end, i will have a downtime to change it's HA-CAM's default gateway.
My question is, how can i do that?.
This change is not synchronized if i change only from an active cam (service Ip) o it does?
I was thinking on stops services for standby cam, then connect to a service ip, change its default gateway to active cam, then stops services and start them for standby cam and so on...
This is correct or this idea is wrong?
    Please, I need suggestions.
    Thanks for advance.

If the user vlan is routed on a L3 device before going to either the MPLS router or the firewall you could use PBR on the L3 device (if supported).
But as Reza says, we need more info on your network layout.

  • Change default image viewer?

How do you change the default image viewer (preview) to Adobe Photoshop?

Click on the image and then do Command+I (Get Information). Where it says 'Open with Preview', change it in the drop-down menu to 'Photoshop' and underneath than click on the button 'Change All'. All images of that type will now open in Photoshop.

  • Changing default video viewer

There is prob an easy solution to this question, but here goes. I just recently purchased a MAC BOOK PRO, on my mac the default video viewer is quicktime, how do I change it to VLC? So when I click on a movie it opens in VLC without opening VLC and selecting the movie

To open wmv files you will need Flip4Mac.
To open open other .mov, avi, type of files you will need VLC Media Player and Perian.
It will also be to your best interest if you install the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.
After the installations, repair permissions and restart your computer. Instructions for repairing permissions is in the Mac os menu and http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751
To make any of the above default players except for Adobe Flash Player & Perian, follow my previous instructions.

  • Change default folder view?

Hi. I was wondering if there was a way to change the default folder view. For instance, I'd like it so that when I create a new folder or open a new window it would be automatically in list view mode, and with the specific columns I want. Is this possible?

From the "view" menu choose "List View" uncheck in Prefs where you may have checked "Open new windows in column view".

  • Can't send picture messages via camera app

I recently upgraded my iPhone 5 to iOS 7, but it won't let me send pictures directly from the photo app via messages.  Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

Nothing really.  The screen simply reverts back to the photo I tried to send.  Then when I go to the message app and pull up that person's thread, the photo has not been sent.  I CAN send photos from the message app - just not the camera app.
Also, I just confirmed that I can post to twitter from the camera app.  Strange....

  • Change default PDF viewer in Firefox

    Hi,
I use Firefox a lot for viewing the web and when I click on a PDF file I get the option of either saving it to my computer or opening it in Preview. However, I'd like to be able to open the PDF directly in Adobe Acrobat. Is there a way I can set what application should be used to open my PDF files from Firefox? And if so, how do I do it? Thanks so much.
    -NifflerX

    Georege Orville,
These look like the instructions to change the default viewer in the Finder. I don't have a problem doing this, my only problem is that when I click on a PDf file in Firefox it always opens with Preview instead of Adobe. When I right click on a PDF link in Firefox I'm allowed to open the link in a new tab and then a pop up box comes up allowing me to either "open with <application>" or "Save to Disk". But the only application I'm allowed to use is Preview, which is what I want to change. Is there a way to do this? Thanks so much.
