Change hostname (url) of Network Monitoring Server

Hello Spiceworks,
I recently installed the "network monitoring" product on our infrastructure, and we are currently evaluating it.
This is an awesome product with a lot of potential :)
I would like the links in the notification emails that the system is sending out to be accessable from both inside and outside my infrastructure, so I am running access from the outside through a proxy.
I now need to change the URL's that are inserted into the notification emails, but I can't seem to find a way to configure it through the GUI.

All the details appear correct in the Adaptive Agent Properties on the actual server.
I've located the workstation that had the duplicate GUID and reset the image safe data, it now has its own GUID. The only problem is, because the ZCC contacts devices by hostname or IP address, it cant connect to the server (effectively itself) to update the record in ZCC.
Is there a way I can edit the object (at least the hostname or IP address) in ZCC so that it can connect properly to update itself? Its currently very broken

Hi Matt, I'd be tempted to have the server agent re-register.... but for this one (and the mishap a wrong step might cause), opening a call with Novell would be my suggestion.

  • Change required ports during Network Monitor's installation

    Hi everyone,
    i've found a conflict with port 8009.
Network monitor requires it as free during installation, but an instance of a Tomcat server is already using it. As I can't change tc config, I need to know if there's another way to install NM in which I could assign that port to another one that is free.
    Thanx in advance!

In 2013, BlackBerry OS fell behind Windows Phone's market share in the smartphone market, and it has been losing even more ground since then. But it hasn't flatlined – there are businesses out there that still support BlackBerries and the BlackBerry Enterprise Portfolio. • Change Hostname on Wireless Network

Hi, I need to change the default name of my phone as it appears on my work's wifi network.  The default hostname (BLACKBERRY-XXXX) does not allow for quick identification - I need to be able to assign a specific, descriptive name to my particular device.  So far I have not been able to do this.  Given that RIM products are known for being business networking friendly, I doubt that this ability has been overlooked as it is pretty important, especially when there are lots of BB's on the same network.  Anybody know how to do this? Thanks.
    Device Type: Blackberry 9800 Torch
    Wireless Router: D-Link DGL 4500
    OS is up to date.

Yuppers.  I would use a computer that has a cat5 attached to the router instead of wireless...but nonetheless
Open a browser (ie) and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar.  leave username blank and the default password is admin.
Im thinking he probably changed the default password as on should so if that doesnt work you will need to reset the router (usually on the back there is a reset that you can depress for lets say a minute) and it will erase all settings returning it back to default.  If you have ppoe information from your provider it will erase that so make sure you have that info from your provider if needed.
anyways once in on the first page you can change the name of the router itself and under the "wireless" tab you can change the ssid to a name you like or if your not using wireless go ahead and disable wireless mode.

  • How do I use Sun Web Server 7.0u1 reverse proxy to change public URLs?

Some of our installations use the Sun Web Server 7.0 (update 1, usually)
for hosting some of the public resource and reverse-proxying other parts
of the URI namespace from other backend servers (content, application
    and other types of servers).
So far every type of backend server served a unique part of the namespace
and there was no collision of names, and the backend resources were
published in a one-to-one manner. That is, a backend resource like, say,
http://appserver:8080/content/page.html would be published in the internet
    as http://www.publicsite.com/content/page.html
I was recently asked to research whether we can rename some parts of
the public URI namespace, to publish some or all resources as, say,
http://www.publicsite.com/data/page.html while using the same backend
    resources.
Another quest, possibly related in solution, was to make a tidy url for the
first page the user opens of the site. That is, in the current solution when
a visitor types the url "www.publicsite.com" in his or her browser, our web
server returns an HTTP-302 redirect to the actual first page URL, so the
browser sends a second request (and changes the URL in its location bar).
One customer said that it is not "tidy". They don't want the URL to change
right upon first rendering the page. They want the root page to be rendered
instantly i the first HTTP request.
So far I found that I can't solve these problems. I believe these problems
share a solution because it relies on ability to control the actual URI strings
requested by Sun Web Server from backend servers.
    Some details follow, now:
It seems that the reverse proxy (Service fn="service-passthrough") takes
only the $uri value which was originally requested by the browser. I didn't
yet manage to override this value while processing a request, not even if
I "restart" a request. Turning the error log up to "finest" I see that even
when making the "service-passthrough" operation, the Sun Web Server
    still remembers that the request was for "/test" (in my test case below);
it does indeed ask the backend server for an URI "/test" and that fails.
    [04/Mar/2009:21:45:34] finest (25095) www.publicsite.com: for host xx.xx.xx.83

Service fn="set-variable"  uri="/magnoliaPublic/Main.html"Thanks for any ideas (including a statement whether this can be done at all
in some version of Sun Web Server 7.0 or its opensourced siblings) ;)

Some of our installations use the Sun Web Server 7.0 (update 1, usually)please plan on installing the latest service pack - 7.0 Update 4. these updates addresses potentially critical bug fixes.
I was recently asked to research whether we can rename some parts of
the public URI namespace, to publish some or all resources as, say,
http://www.publicsite.com/data/page.html while using the same backend
resources.> now, if all the resources are under say /data, then how will you know which pages need to be sent to which back end resources. i guess, you probably meant to check for /data/page.html should go to <back-end>/content/page.html
yes, you could do something like
    - edit your corresponding obj.conf (<hostname>-obj.conf or obj.conf depending on your configuration)
    <Object name=¨default¨>
    <If $uri = ¨/page/¨>
#move this nametrans SAF (for map directive - which is for reverse proxy within <if> clause)
    NameTrans.. fn=map
    </If
    </Object>
and you could do https-<hostname>/bin/reconfig (dynamic reconfiguration) to check out if this is what you wanted. also, you might want to move config/server.xml <log-level> to finest and do your configuration . this way, you would get enough information on what is going on within your server logs.
finally, when you are satisfied, you might have to run the following command to make your manual change into admin config repository.
    <install-root>/bin/wadm pull-config user=admin config=<hostname> <hostname>
    <install-root>/bin/wadm deploy-config --user=admin <hostname>
you might want to check out this for more info on how you could use <if> else condition to handle your requirement.
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-6599/gdaer?a=view
finally, you might want to refer to this doc - which explains on ws7 request processing overview. this should provide you with some pointers as to what these different directives mean
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-6599/gbysz?a=view

please check out the rewrite / restart SAF. this should help you.
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-6599/gdada?a=view
pl. understand that - like with more web servers - ordering of directives is very important within obj.conf. so, you might want to make sure that you verify the obj.conf directive ordering is what you want it to do..
It seems that the reverse proxy (Service fn="service-passthrough") takes
only the $uri value which was originally requested by the browser. I didn't

it does indeed ask the backend server for an URI "/test" and that fails.
now, you are in the totally wrong direction. web server 7 includes a highly integrated reverse proxy solution compared to 6.1. unlike 6.1, you don´t have to download a separate plugin . however, you will need to manually migrate your 6.1 based reverse proxy settings into 7.0. please check out this blog link on how to set up a reverse proxy
    http://blogs.sun.com/amit/entry/setting_up_a_reverse_proxy
feel free to post to us if you need any futher help
you are probably better off - starting fresh
    - install ws7u4
    - use gui or CLI to create a reverse proxy and map one on one - say content
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-6601/create-reverse-proxy-1?a=view
if you don´t plan on using ws7 integrated web container (ability to process jsp/servlet), then you could disable java support as well. this should reduce your server memory footprint
    <install-root>/bin/wadm disable-java user=admin config=<hostname>
    <install-root>/bin/wadm create-reverse-proxy user=admin uri-prefix=/content server=<http://your back end server/ config=<hostname> --vs=<hostname>
    <install-root>/bin/wadm deploy-config --user=admin <hostname>
now, you can check out the regular express processing and <if> syntax from our docs and try it out within <https-<hostname>/config/<hostname>-obj.conf> file and restart the server. pl. note that once you disable java, ws7 admin server creates <vs>-obj.conf and you need to edit this file and not default obj.conf for your changes to be read by server.
    >
I have also tried "restart"ing the request like this:
    NameTrans fn="restart" uri="/data"
ordering is very important here... you need to do this some thing like
    <Object name=default>
    <If not $restarted>
    NameTrans fn=restart uri from=/¨ uri=/foo.
    </If>

  • Change hostname on SAP Content Server

    Hi Gurus,
I'm investigating the effort required to change the hostname on a SAP content server. I'm well aware that with a SAP ABAP or Java instance we must use system copy tools to achieve this but with SAP Content server is there an easier way?
It is simply running MAXDB and IIS and so I think with careful planning it might be possible to change the hostname and keep things moving without a system copy.
Has anybody any experience to share?

    Hi,
The main areas that you need to look at when making the changes are:
    1/ Landscape :
Hostname files and profile parameters need to be updated.
RFC destination need to be modified ( see note 88346 )
         TA SM59 , check/update the table RFCDES...
    2/ OSS and SAProuter configuration

  • Changing WSDL url in WebLogic server

    Hi All,
I have created a BPEL project and deployed to weblogic server.
I'm going to send the wsdl url to one of our clients to send data to this BPEL.

How do I change this URL?
    Thanks....

    Hi,
    Some approaches are:
    * In case you expose your service(s) to the outside world, these service calls usually go through a DMZ. A DMZ often contains proxies, web/HTTP servers, firewalls and/or other applicances that are capable of endpoint virtualization. E.g. use Oracle HTTP Server, Apache HTTP Server, and so on to expose the endpoint at a public address.
    * Use an ESB or appliance for endpoint virtualization.

  • Error while Deploying Monitoring Server Reports!

    Hi,
Trying to install the monitoring role with reporting services but must have missed one or several steps! :)
Have 1 standard edition server and 1 server running Lync monitoring and SQL (that I installed myself, hopefully correct)

    SSL: Not Selected

    Hi,
Firstly, you need make sure Web Service URL and Report Manager URL could be opened in both Lync FE and SQL server.
If prompt authentication chanllenges you have to change the built in account with "Network Service".
Furthermore, make sure firewall is turned off when troubleshooting to rule out ports and connection issue.

  • HOWTO:  Changing the URL and reloading the dataset

Sometimes, you will need to change the url of your dataset
and reload the dataset. This is quite easy to do with changing a
variable and calling a method. Below is the code you would use. I
use it to page through a set of data which only comes back in 10
row increments and we do not know the recordcount of. (Yippee,
Oracle E1). Anyway, here's the code....

    rowCount = 0;
    dsPeople = new
    Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("/spry/?event=peopleSearch&srchRowStart="

    rowCount = rowCount+10;
    var spryURL = "/spry/?event=peopleSearch&srchRowStart="
    + rowCount;
    dsPeople.url = spryURL;
    dsPeople.loadData();

Enabling SSL for Central Administration is a good idea. Making it so it is only accessible using an IP address doesn't make it any more secure. This is security through obscurity and anyone dedicated enough to attacking Central Administration will find the
site whether it's an IP address or named.
For what it's worth an attacker is going to try scanning IP ranges long before they try looking at DNS. And, because of the way SharePoint works if the site is accessible by its IP address and not a specific hostname, anyone who knows the IP address and
the SSL port (443) can connect. If you have a hostname it won't be immediately accessible.
Some other thoughts: When you rely just on the IP address, what happens if you want to move Central Administration to another server in the farm, or you want to provide load balancing and have multiple servers hosting Central Administration? What happens
when the server running Central Administration dies so you create a new Central Administration site on a server with a different IP address? How will you communicate this URL change to all of your administrators?

    Sorry,
I wasn't clear in my OP.  The IP would be tied to a DN.  So you would go https://abc123.com and it would ask for authentication.  That URL would be tied to a separate IP on the network card of that server.  The IP address association
    is done through IIS.

  • How to repair Open Directory Master after Changing Hostname

    Summary:
How to repair Open Directory after Changing your Server's Hostname (see separate post)
    Problem:
I had to change our server's hostname from a private hostname (server.name.private) to a public hostname (name.dyndns.org).
    Procedure:
    1. Precautions:
Since I was anticipating major dramas I tested the change of hostname on a clone ( I used Super Duper, and I very strongly advise everybody to heed this warning because a change of hostname will corrupt your server services, in particular Open Directory)
Second, I exported the network users from Server Admin and copied the archive to the Drop Folder of the server's local account (because the network accounts will be unavailable after demoting the OD Master.)
    2. Change hostname and demote OD Master
    a) I re-booted the server from the clone
    b) I changed the hostname in Server App and I noticed that the Open Directory Password and the Kerberos database were still stuck with the old hostname.
    c)  I then demoted to a standalone directory (Server Admin) and I tried to promote the server to an OD Master using the Server App (Manage Network Accounts). Server App always returned an error saying I should check my network settings.
    3. List of 'fixes'
I tried the following fixes to no avail (which does not mean that you can skip them)
    a) I checked the DNS entries, forward and reverse were working fine (sudo checkip -changehostname)
    b) Checked with Lookup in Network Utility, all was fine
    c) I deleted all system certificates (Keychain) which showed the name of the previous hostname
( N.B. you need not delete email certificate and private/public keys)
    d) I tried to assign a new static IP in Networking Preferences (had no visible result)
    e) I re-booted from the working drive and I re-paired permissions on the clone; I ran disk repairs.
Despite all this I could not re-create an OD Master.
I then looked for this dubious folder /var/root/Library/Application Support/Certificate Authority.
I could not find this folder when using the Finder's Go To Folder, nor did "Easy Find" see this folder.
I was about to give up when I read the posts on this page and I entered the Terminal commands
    sudo rm -R /var/root/Library/Application\ Support/Certificate\ Authority/
I had not much hope when I set about to re-create the OD Master from the Server App.
But lo and behold !!! I did not trust my eyes when Server App claimed that the OD Master had been successfully created. And indeed, Server admin showed a running OD Master, LDAP, Kerberos and Password Server all running again !
Final touch: re-import the user accounts.
    Epilogue:
I woud not have been able to fix this issue had not so many others shared their experience and the working solution.
    (Refer : https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3219325?start=0&tstart=0 )
    Thank you all !
Let's hope that Apple will fix this annoying issue in the next server update.

  • Performance of Network Monitoring in SCOM 2012 SP1

    Hi all!
I´ve problems with performance of the network monitoring feature in SCOM 2012 SP1.
    According to the
guide the following should be adeqate:
•1000 network devices (approximately 12,500 monitored ports) managed by a resource pool that has three or more management servers
•500 network devices (approximately 6,250 monitored ports) managed by a resource pool that has two or more gateway servers
We have 800 network devices with a total of 24000 ports,
BUT only 1500 of them are monitored. This is basically what happens automatically after discovery, since only ports between monitored devices are monitored by default.
For this setup I first used only one management server dedicated to the Network Pool,
based on my assumption that if two servers could monitor 6250 ports, one server would be more than enough for 1500. I found this configuration working very poorly so I added another server. I now have two servers
dedicated for the Network Resource Pool. (They are NOT members of the “All management servers resource pool”)
Still, I get constant alerts regarding Health Services Private Bytes on these servers. They vary between 1-2Gbytes. Furthermore, if one of the servers goes offline, the network devices that was monitored by that server becomes grey for
several hours. Even if the server only is rebooted it takes forever to get everything online and green again.
I don´t really know what I should do now. I had a plan to replace our current network monitoring system (SNMPc) which easily handles this load on only one server. They are of course completely different beasts, but still. SCOM seems to
require a massive back-end to produce equivalent real life results.
Any suggestions or reflections from the field are highly appreciated!
    Regards
    Peter

    Hi,
Try to overide the monitor Health Services Private Bytes by the following steps.
◾Go Authoring space – Management Pack Objects – Monitors
◾Go to change scope – select clear all – look for Health Service – tick it and press OK.
◾Expand Health Service – expand Entity Health – expand Performance – expand Health Service Performance
◾Select the Health Health Service Private Bytes Threshold.
◾Right click the mouse and choose to overide the monitor for a group
◾Select the group called Management Server Computer Group and press OK

  • Remote Access Management Console - configuration issue with Network Location Server

    2012 Std R2
The remote Access management console operation status shows  all green except for network location server .
Error: There is no response from the network location server URL. DirectAccess connectivity might not work as expected, and DirectAccess clients located inside the corporate network might not be able to reach internal resources.
    Resolution listed as:
    1. Configure the network location server on a server that is highly available to clients on the internal network.
    2. If the network location server is running on the Remote Access server, ensure that IIS is running, and that the URL is available.
The remote access server is located on this server. IIS is running. What URL: show I be looking at?
Any other thoughts so I can get remote access working.
l also am getting a remote access error for IPV6, could this be a cause:
RoutingDomainID- {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}: Unable to add the interface {D37062B2-A3E0-4496-A459-9E0BBCE5423C} with the Router Manager for the IPV6 protocol. The following error occurred: Cannot complete this function.
    John Lenz

    Hi John,
please follow the steps to reinstall TCP/IP stack.
1.Restart your PC into Safe Mode with Networking.
    2.
Edit your registry. Delete the following keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Winsock
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Winsock2
    3.
Open the nettcpip.inf file in your %winroot%/inf folder
    (%winroot% is usually c:/windows).
Find the [MS_TCPIP.PrimaryInstall] section. Change the Characteristics value from 0xA0 to 0x80.
Open the properties of the network connection you want to fix. In the General tab, click on the Install button. Click on the Have Disk button, and point the location to %winroot%/inf. After that select TCP/IP (not version 6).
    4.
Now you would notice that you can uninstall TCP/IP!
Do that, then restart the PC.
Go back to your network connection, and install TCP/IP again as per the above. After another reboot, you should be up and running.
I also noted that the XP network repair tool may yank out the ISA 2004 firewall client stuff. Just run the firewall clinet repair or install it again to fix that problem after you did your reboot. Before you do this kind of crazy stuff.
    5.
This along with a TCP/IP reset using the netsh command:
    netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
wish you have a nice thanksgiving too
    Regards,
    Mike

  • Changing hostname to Virtual ip hostname in weblogic (FMW)

    Hi,
Can anyone let me know how to change the weblogic hostname to viphostname?
    Regards,
    RKA

Go to admin console --> servers --> server name --> Listen Address. Set your listen address here to vip hostname and try restarting the server.
If the viphostname you provide is already available on the network interface cards on the machine on which the weblogic server is suppose to run, then your server will start.

  • Network Monitor Causing error in Flash Builder 4

I am working with PHP data services on a MAMP server.  Everything works fine until I turn on the network monitor.  When network monitor is enabled, my first call to the server returns the following error:
    Send failed
    Channel.Connect.Failed error NetConnection.Call.Failed: HTTP: Failed: url: 'http://localhost:8888/Dashboard1/gateway.php'
The url correctly points to the gateway.php file so I am not sure where to start looking for the issue.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

    Hello,
I also had same issue with my Flash Player.
Make sure u have Debug version of the flash player installed.
If not you can download it from from following link,
    http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/updaters/10/flashplayer_10_ax_debug.exe  (for IE)
    http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/updaters/10/flashplayer_10_plugin_debug.exe   (for FIREFOX)
    Chrome has it inbuilt.
Just make sure proper browser is selected in preferences of flash builder.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • XE only looking up the localhost not the hostname url

    Hi,
I am trying to use Oracle XE 10.2.0.1.0.
    Installation is successful.
    DNS is resolving correctly.
    lsnrctl started.
    DB running.
    Port 8080 is pingable.
    New
The issue is with the url.
Its resolving the localhost http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex but when I do a hostname url it never works.
    for eg:
abc.blahblah.com:8080/apex --> via browser --> not resolving to anything.
The box has only cmd line so I tested via WGET.
    wget http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex
    --2010-08-23 09:29:48--  http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex
    Connecting to 127.0.0.1:8080... connected.
    wget hostname:8080/apex fails to resolves.
