Change Manager standalone repository create failing

Dear fellow Oracle users,
I am trying to run Oracle Change Manager using a standalone repository. I created the standalone repository tablespace and user according to the directions in the Oracle Enterprise Manager Configuration Guide 9.2.0.2 (found here: http://oraclesvca2.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/em.920/a96673/ch2.htm#1002943). The database is Oracle 10.2.0.1 Enterprise, running on a Windows 2003 Server.
I then launched OEM 10.2.0.0.0 on my Windows XP Professional workstation, and select 'Change Manager' from the 'Tools' menu. In the log on dialog I supply the standalone user id and password just created, and select 'Yes' when told that a standalone repository needs to be created for this user. The 'Creating Standalone Repository' progress window displays, and after a few seconds, I get the following Java stack trace:

I've used Change Manager in the past, hosted on an Oracle 9i database on Win2k, and have come to rely on it. I'd be very grateful for any ideas on getting it to work again.

Hi,
These are the complete grants the repo user needs:
CREATE TRIGGER, CREATE PROCEDURE, EXECUTE ANY PROCEDURE, CREATE TYPE, EXECUTE ANY TYPE, SELECT ANY TABLE, CREATE CLUSTER, CREATE DATABASE LINK, CREATE SEQUENCE, ALTER SESSION, CREATE SYNONYM, CREATE TABLE, CREATE VIEW

  • Orachangeuser fail   during Change manager synchronization wizard

    Here is the story:
I have a schema and I want to duplicate it,
    and alter some features.
So I launch Change Manager, Create a comparsion between my
reference schema and my empty, target schema.
I then use Tools - Synchronization Wizard, select all objects,
and it generates a change plan for me.
    So far, so good.
When I run the plan script,
it displays an error after every attempt to "change user".
    The error displayed is
    "orachangeuser failed for sys".
I ask myself "What is orachangeuser, and why is it trying to change
the user to my target schema's user?"
Anyway, if I ignore the errors, and press "CONTINUE", it finished just fine.
Only problem is I must press "CONTINUE" once for every orachangeuser, which
    is annoying.
    So I edit the script.
Before, proc cmchangeuser looked like this:
    # CM Priv - change all orachangeuser to call cmchangeuser.
    proc cmchangeuser {cur name} {
    global current_user
    if {$name == $current_user} {
    } else {
    orachangeuser $cur $name
    set current_user $name
After I change it, to gut the orachangeuser part, it looks like this
    # CM Priv - change all orachangeuser to call cmchangeuser.
    proc cmchangeuser {cur name} {
    global current_user
    set current_user $name
Then I run the script and it works.
Does anybody know what is going on here?
    Is orachangeuser an obsolete thing?
I'm using Oracle Enterprise Manager 9.2.0.1.0 in standalone
mode on a Personal Oracle Instance.
The weird thing is that I seem to recall getting such sycnhronization scripts to work
    just fine on this
    machine a week ago.
And if I choose just ONE table from the dozens in the schema,
it also works fine, executing the orachangeuser command.
    thanks,
    David Kreth Allen

Isn't it also true that in a stretched DAG with even numbered nodes, the PAM needs to be in the same site as the active DAG node?  If the connection between both nodes goes down, and the PAM is in the "passive" site, the primary node will
dismount the databases since it can't check with the PAM to make sure its safe for it to be up.
In a even-numbered node stretched DAG, the PAM changes to the DR/passive site everytime a failover occurs, but doesn't automatically switch back when you reactivate the primary node.

  • Domain Created: Failed Restarting Managed Servers in a cluster

    Hi,
I tried creating a new domain from my local pc - by using the configuration wizard provided by weblogic.. the configuration used is like this -
    Admin Server - adminServer - 1.1.1.19 - on port 7001
    Managed servers - machines:ip's - port
    1. mgndServer1 - 1.1.1.19 - 7011
    2. mgndServer2 - 1.1.1.20 - 7011
    mgndCluster defined as - mgndServer1:7011, mgndServer2:7011
    node manager ; - 1.1.1.19 - 5555
In the last step i didnt check ( select box ) the WLI Start up , WLI Shutdown classes for the managed cluster , but Set the WLI Start up , shut down classes for admin server.
Started the admin server and from the admin console, state of the node manager was running , I tried starting the managed servers, but it failed with the below error - and managed servers never come into running state..

    Hi Revanth,
The issue seems to be with the JMX URL value defined in the 'server URL' property.
Apparently I ran into the same issue as I was unable to access the Admin Server URL from the SMA.
Changing the Host and Port value properly resolved the issue for me.

  • How to notify (email) Change Manager when new Change Request is created

Hi there, I am battling to generate an email when a developer creates a Change Request directly in the SolMan system. When he creates a new Change Request via CRMD_ORDER by filling in the Sold-to-Party, Change Manager, iBase etc., the message is automatically in 'To Be Approved'. I want to notify the Change Man ager as soon as a new Change Request has been submitted, but when I check the Actions tab in the message, no email action is listed or executed. I have edited SLFN0001_STANDARD... in SPPFCADM with conditions set. How can I create a email notification for the Change Manager as soon as a Change Request is in To Be Approved status?

    Hi,
Create a action definition with the following information:
    Processing when saving.
    No restriction.
    Check Schedule Automatically.
    Check Partner-Dependent.
Select Partner Function for Change Manager.
Determination Using Conditions that Can be Transported.
Then you have to create an Start Condition such as; userstatus = to be approved.
    No scheduled condition is needed.

  • Metadata Manager Repository configuration failed

    Hello,
I am tring to install Metadata Manager.  I am running BOE XI 3.1 SP2 FP2.5.  I am installing "SBOP Metadata Management XI 3.1 (12.1) on Windows".  My database is a local install of MS SQL Server 2005.
I get all the way through the install process and the following error message pops up:
Metadata Management Repository configuration failed with the following error.
The TCP/IP connection to the host has failed. java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect

    Utility failed with code 4.
You need to re-run the installer again.
Once I click the "OK" button, the install reverses and uninstalls everything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Scott

how are you specifying the SQL Server 2005 server name in the repository configuration screen ?
are you able to ping the machine where SQL Server is running ?
you have to give the Machine Name or IP address in the Repository connection screen, don't give machine\instanceName

  • Creating a Better Description for the Change Management forum

    Hi Community,
You are invited to post suggestions <a href="https://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?forumID=200&threadID=249364">to help clarify this forum descripton</a> for the Change Management forum (as a posted to a Change Request forum)
Hint: I'm hoping that we will be discussing Change Management which includes Business Process Improvement changes, new paradigms, new role definitions and not merely application improvements and changes.
Also, I invite good definitions for a separate technical forum to be created to discuss Transport and Change Requests questions as those seem to be the ones that frequently populate this forum.
Help us help the community to know where to post appropriate queries.
    Marilyn

    Hello Marilyn,
thanks a lot for the new thread!
Why not use your description, for me, it explains what I'm hoping for in this forum:
We will discuss Change Management which includes Business Process Improvement changes, new paradigms, new role definitions, and all changes that are needed to make an organization fit for the ESOA requirements.
I'd still suggest "organizational change management" as the new name.
For the technical change management I'd suggest the term "SAP change and transport management" - I think everyone dealing with SAP will understand.
A description for the change and transport forum:
This forum deals with issues concerning technical changes to SAP systems, may it be transports within the ABAP world or SDM questions and problems.
From my point of view it would be good to provide a link to "the other forum" from both of these forums.
    Kind regards,
    Carl

  • Procedure names, Change management

    Hi,
We are creating multiple stored procedures and models as a part of a data transformation project. We are creating all these artifacts in a General project in the repository(with change management activated). Every procedure we create has its name prefixed by the default schema of the user who is creating it. This we don't like. Since we have multiple procedures and some calling each other, we have to refer to the whole explicit procedure name(including the default user schema) when referring to it.
Now we do not plan to have the developer users in all systems(read QAS and PROD), this means that the procedure call will fail as the default schema it was made in does not exist in other systems.
How do we get around this? Is there a better way to create and refer to stored procedures?
    Regards,
    Nehal.

    Hi Aadi,
    Thanks for replying.
I am aware of Schema mapping. But as I understand it Schema mapping is best used when external factors like imports of packages/different replication systems come into play.
We are simply referring to our own developments here. Surely there must be another and probably better way of doing the development so it doesn't turn around and bite us like this.

  • Repository upgrade fails 11.1.0.7 db -10.2.0.5 GC patchset

Installing GridControl 10.2.0.5 on Windows 2003 Server SP2. Initial install successful of 10.2.0.2 using existing database 11.1.0.7. The database was created new to use for GC. Patchset no problems until Configuration Assitant step "Repository Upgrade" failed with errors:

Can anyone help me figure out why the domU is just hanging/blocked?It's not hanging (blocked just means it doesn't need the CPU) -- it's just switched into a graphic mode that the console view can't display. You can either VNC into the guest, or change the kernel boot parameters by removing rhgb quiet and replacing them with console=xvc0 -- this should allow you to see the full boot process and answer the first-boot interview questions without using VNC.
You can get the VNC details by running: virsh dumpxml <domain ID> and you can get the domain ID from the xm list output.

  • OWB Change Management/Version Control Best Practice

    Hi
I am about to start developing a data warehouse using OWB 10g R2, and I've been doing quite a lot of research into the various deployment/change management/version control techniques that can be used, but am still unsure which is the best to use.
We will have 2-3 developers working on the project, and will be deploying from Development, to Test, to Production (each will have a separate repository). We want to be able to easily identify changes made between 1 release and the next to have a greater degree of control and awareness of what goes into each release. We also wish to use a source control system to track changes (we'll probably use SVN, but I don't think that the actual SCS tool makes a big difference to our decision at this point).
The options available (that I'm aware of), are:
    1. Full MDL export/import.
    2. Snapshot MDL export/import.
    3. Manual coding of everything using OMB Plus.
I am loath to use the full MDL export/import functionality since it will be difficult, if not impossible, to identify easily the changes made between 1 release and the next.
The snapshot MDL export/import functionality is a little better at comparing releases, but it's still difficult to see exactly what has changed between 1 version and the next - particularly when a change to a transformation has been made. It also doesn't cope that well with tracking individually made changes to different components of the model.
The manual coding using OMB Plus seems like the best option at the moment, though I keep thinking "What's the point of using a GUI tool, if I'm just going to code everything in scripts anyway?".
I know that you can create OMB Plus code generation scripts to create your 'creation' scripts, but the code generation of the Alteration scripts seems that it would be more complicated than just writing the Alteration scripts manually.
Any thoughts anyone out there has would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Liffey

Well, you can also do per-object MDL exports and then manage those in your version control system. With a proper directory structure it would be fairly simple to code an OMB+ Script that scans a release directory tree and imports the objects one by one. I have done this before, although if you are using OWB as the primary metadata location for database objects then you have to come up with some way to manage object dependency order issues.
The nice thing about this sort of system is that a patch can be easily shipped with only those objects that need to be updated.
And if you force developers to put object-level MDL into your version control system then your system should also have pretty reporting on what objects were changed for a release and why.
At my current job we do full exports of the project MDL and have a deployment script that drops the pre-existing deployed version of the project before importing and deploying the new version, which also works quite well - although as you note the tracking of what has changed in a release then needs to be carefully managed elsewhere. But we don't deploy any of our physical database objects through OWB. Those are deployed from Designer, and our patch script applies all physical changes first before we replace the mappings from the OWB project. We don't even bother synching the project metadata for tables / views / etc. at deployment. If the OWB project's metadata for database objects is not in sync with Designer, then we wind up with deployment errors. But on the whole it works pretty well.

  • BO Data Services Change Management with SAP Charm Functionality

    HI Gurus,
We have been tasked with automating the Change Management activity for Business objects data Services. The same is currently performed as a manual task which could be prone to errors. We have researched all over the place and we have not been able to find any documentation on in order to carry out this activty through Solution Manager ChaRm functionality.
So, Can SAP Solution manager perform the LCM (Life Cycle management) for Business objects Data Services via means of it CHaRm functionality?
Right now we know that the components for BO are present on Solution manager within the SMSY transaction. We have also been able to create the complete landscape within the same and create a project template for it.
Now the challenge is how do we configure ChaRm in order to move the DI code from one repository to the next?
here are the requirements we are trying to implement:
    1. Create a full landscape for Business Objects Data Services within SMSY in Solution manager
    2. Create Project template for Business objects Data Services
    3. Create RFC connections to Database and BODS Client Servers
    4. Configure Charm in order to automate Change Management for Data Service
    Please advice.

  • Central Transport Change Management

    Hi,
I want to use my Solution Manager instance as a central repository for all the change requests that are created by my Implementation project (Using ECC6, SCM, BI, XI).
I have followed the IMG for the Basic settings in Change Management, but I need to understand whether the Extended settings will give me what I need.
Or if I am doing something really stupid and have actually finished the config.
    TIA
    Chris aka BoobBoo

    Hello,
This is not possible, as there is no support for Transport and Change management. You will always need some down-time in production. But there are some strategies to reduce the down-time.
    (1) You could use the Java ADMIN API to create a batch-script that performs the required repository modifications. Once you validate it works, unload your repository, run your program and load the repository again.
    (2) Create a "slave" repository and re-direct your production users to that repository. Unload your production repository and make all changes. Once done, reload that repository and switch back. Remember that this will only help to keep a "look-up" only version of the production repository...

  • Transport and Change Management

    Hello,
We need to modify our MDM structure (add fields and tables). We would like to avoid unloading the repository. Can we do that in our test environment and move to Production only the structure while keeping the data in Prod.
What is the Transport and Change Management patch? Is this what we need?
    Thanks for your help!

  • Change Management Process

Is it possible within the Change Management process to get the status field to pick up Approved?
At the moment it seems to realise when its been completed or declined/failed but other then that always seems to sit as In Progress.
I have added the approved to the list but it doesnt seem to have married the two up?

Not near a console right now so this may not be entirely accurate.
You must add a custom status (ex. Approved) - read first part of
this - and create a workflow that triggers on a review activity being completed. That workflow must then update the status of the CR. Workflows out-of-the-box can only apply changes to properties within itself, ie. on the review activity. I think the easiest
is to use orchestrator and create a runbook (disregarding best practice) with a monitor object activity -> get related object (CR) -> update object (CR).
Another approach is to create a view based on a type projection that shows the status of the review activity. You will have to do some custom xml editation to achive this. You can either try yourself (i wrote something
here), or use a tool for it:
    advanced view editor.
