Change mouse button behavior

I am trying to change the behavior of my mouse buttons, specifically, I want ALT-<Mouse2Click> to f.raise_lower the active window regardless of where (in the active window) the mouse is pressed. Currently, Btn2Click on the frame or title bar exibits this behavior, but not in the window part.
I have tried adding a line to both my ~/.dt/dtwmrc and to the system dtwmrc file, but neither change seems to have any effect.
This is the relevant section of my dtwmrc file:
Buttons DtButtonBindings
<Btn1Down> root f.marquee_selection
<Btn2Click> root f.toggle_frontpanel
<Btn3Down> root f.menu DtRootMenu
Shift<Btn1Click> frame|icon f.lower
<Btn1Click> frame|icon f.raise
<Btn1Click2> frame f.maximize
<Btn1Click2> icon f.restore
<Btn2Click> frame|icon f.raise_lower
<Btn3Down> frame|icon f.post_wmenu
Alt<Btn1Click> frame|icon|window f.raise
Alt<Btn1Click2> frame|window f.minimize
Alt<Btn1Click2> icon f.restore
Alt<Btn2Click> window f.raise_lower
Alt<Btn1Down> frame|icon|window f.move
I added the "Alt<Btn2Click> window f.raise_lower" line.
Any thoughts? Am I doing it wrong? The CDE docs available online would indicate that this is the correct place to make such a change.
Thanks,
Linus

  • How do I change mouse button behavior in firefox to make new mouse shortcuts?

    Hi,
For some time now I've wondered if it is possible to easily change the default behavior of mouse buttons in Firefox. What I'd like to do is define a new mouse button combination which replicates the function of an already-defined keyboard shortcut. In particular, currently, when one holds down the shift key while left-clicking the mouse while over a link, that link is opened in a new window. What I'd like to do is to have exactly the same behavior occur when I click and hold the left mouse button while pressing and releasing the right mouse button. This then makes opening a link in a new window a menu-less, one-handed operation.
Anyone have any ideas how this might be done? Thanks!

  • Find Supply Demand Form Left Mouse Button Behavior

    Release 11.5.10.2, 10G database.
A customer has a strange mouse behaviour issue In the ASCP -> Supply/Demand form that the began after installing Demantra.
The mouse cursor is returning to the original location that it was just before the user attempted to click in another field.
If the customer uses custom folder, the problem is less apparent in that they can select additional fields in the folder's form..
There is a Note.753324.1 ''Diagnosing Form Mouse Focus Problems In Applications R11i" that suggests a few options; but the this customer is on forms 6.0.8.28.0 and it is unclear if the issue in that note applies in this case.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how to get to the root of this issue or have seen it before and have a solution?

    James,
Sorry I am so lengthy. The problem is that with the technical support guy on line, when the Mouse button 4 event occurred I described to the tech that I was pushing and pulling the mouse from the back end to avoid touching the buttons on the side and every time I rolled the mouse a few inches forward the dashboard assigned to mouse button 4 appeared and next when I rolled it back the dashboard disappeared, I rolled it forward and it reappeared and so on. Then the tech wanted me to click on the apple and go into system preferences and as my cursor touched the file menu to get to the preferences that menu dropped without me left clicking the mouse. As I passed over edit and view they just dropped down.
What do you make of that? I am presently running OSX leopard without my printer and scanner installed. If I see no problem in two days, I will plug in the printer and install it. Then after that the scanner and see if the problem happens. I will follow your suggestions about relearning the mouse though.

  • Changing mouse click behavior on JTable

    Hi everybody,
The default behavior of a mouse click on a jTable is selection of the cell.
I would like to change the behavior so when the user clicks once on the cell, the content can be marked and is ready to change. That would give the user the same feeling as Excel.
Is there any way that I can do this without writing a new mouse/event handler?
    thanks,

With a call to getSelectionModel() of JTable, you can get a reference to the ListeSelectionModel.
This is in fact an instance of DefaultListSelectionModel, which allows you to set a new listener object using addListSelectionListener(ListSelectionListener l).
All you have to do then is implement a custom ListSelectionListener which handles events as you want.
Unfortunately there isnt going to be a way of avoiding writing a Listener, but this is how you would go about it.

  • Change navbar button behavior?

    Hi,
I'm a newcomer to this forum, so if this is in the wrong
place, etc. I will appreciate advice on where to post the question,
    get an answer, etc.
I'm making a nav bar with many buttons (e.g., 40) using
Dreamweaver (V6) . Is there a way to keep the "down" image visible
after clicking and after mouseout, easier than actually changing
    each line of the Javascript?
If I do have to change the Javascript, can I just substitute
    the "down" image src?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Tom,
Can i change the behavior of the Find button (ID 1) of a System form to search my UDO?
Do you intend to replace the System Form's object by your own? Is so it's not possible.
If you intend to add a field to a system form connected to your UDO and do a search by that field, then yes. You just need to add the field to the form. When the form is in search mode, place a value in the field and form's search functionality will retrieve all records matching the imputed value.

  • Expose / Spaces function(s) fail to work with mouse buttons, ongoing issue

Please see this now very old thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2131775&start=0&start=0
This is an issue as old as snow leopard itself. The problem varies in that it can effect spaces or expose. When using a non-apple mouse, one or more of these functions will fail to perform with a mouse button indefinitely as soon as a restart has taken place.
In my particular case, whatever mouse button I assign to "show desktop" fails to function entirely after a restart has taken place. This remains true even if I re-apply the setting in system preferences, such as changing it to another button, or changing it to nothing, and back. I can still use keyboard shortcuts and screen corners to activate "show desktop". I can continue to use other expose and spaces features with the properly assigned mouse keys. Only one feature, in my case "show desktop", fails to function with -any- mouse button after a restart.
To make this even more clear, this behavior has remained the same and consistent for the 14 months I've had snow leopard. It has even continued to exist after I recently removed and recreated my HFS+ partition, and re-installed OS 10.6, entirely from scratch. It did not exist whatsoever for the year and a month I had OS 10.5 leopard, before upgrading to 10.6. This behavior was +literally introduced upon installing snow leopard+. I have a razer death adder 1500 DPI mouse.
Several others share the exact same symptoms, with only the affected expose/spaces function and mouse model differing. A sibling of mine experienced the +exact same issue+ with an entirely different mac model and the exact same model of mouse.
As a relatively unimportant aside, certain "tricks" seem to fix the issue, but only temporarily (one involves moving the location of spaces and/or expose out of the utilities folder, another involves deleting "com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist" from ~/Library/Preferences). Unfortunately, these tricks:
    A. always only fix the problem temporarily, the issue returns
    B. do not address whatever is causing the issue in the first place
This is really frustrating quite a few people, as the linked-to thread can attest to. Along with the obvious, this frustration is magnified because:
    A. This issue +does not appear+ to involve terribly challenging technical difficulties (i.e., merely mouse button behaviors).
    B. This issue did not seem to exist before OS 10.6.
    C. This issue, with the previous two points above in mind, has remained unaddressed for 14-plus months - the entire duration of Mac OS 10.6 snow leopard. I myself originally figured a reasonable time for this issue to be addressed & resolved would be a matter of +a few days+, weeks at most, and at the very least, thought I'd be using these beloved features again +well over a year ago+.
To put it frankly, what the %$#&? Why hasn't this been addressed yet?

  • Button behavior in LV 7

I am using LV 7 to run vi's created in LV 6. On these vi's I have buttons configured as normally open momentary. When I run the vis in LV 7 and the buttons are clicked, their behavior is changed to normally closed momentary. I have to exit the vi and manually change the button behavior back. I replace the buttons with LV 7 buttons, but the behavior is the same. Any ideas?

I've had the same behavior on a VI created in LV 6.1. I thought it was
because the buttons were monitored with an event structure.

  • How do I change what the middle mouse button/wheel does?

I feel like an idiot asking this, but I can't figure this out...
I've plugged in a bog standard 2 button + scroll wheel third button mouse, but I can't get the middle mouse button/wheel to behave like it would in Windows.  If I click it, it changes programs, hold it it brings up the task switcher thing.  It's like I'm pressing command + tab.
I want it to work normally, where the program I'm using the middle button responds, not the OS.  Like in Firefox, I want to be able to close tabs with the middle mouse button, and open new links with it...instead all it can do is switch programs.
Is there a way to do this?  Am I missing something obvious?

Err...I don't know what happened, but I rebooted and now it's working like normal (knock on wood!).  Noooo idea how it ended up in that state!

If the mouse clicks something on its own then it looks like you have a hardware problem with the trackpad or possibly the battery that is right underneath the trackpad.
I have read that the battery can swell and that would put pressure on the trackpad.

  • Change in back button behavior

We are upgrading from ColdFusion 9 to ColdFusion 11.  We noticed a change in back button behavior.  On pages running CF 9 the back button works, but on pages running CF 11, when clicking the back button, we get a browser "confirm form resubmission" message.  Since it is the same browser, it is clearly a change in ColdFusion.  Does anyone know when the change was made?  Is there a setting that controls the behavior?
    Thank you,
    David

We should ignore the difference in Coldfusion version for a moment. It might just be that the previous behaviour was incorrect and what you now observe, with CF11, is the correct behaviour.
A form-resubmit warning is essential. In fact, it can even be vital in certain circumstances. It is telling you that someone, some process or some thread has attempted to resubmit a form.
In your case, clicking the back button apparently refreshes the action page of the form. This is analogous, in business terms, to repeating an order that has already been placed. The related validation code, queries, etc. will run once again. Obviously an unwelcome situation.

  • HT4855 Right mouse button suddenly changed

Using my right mouse button suddenly starts the application instead of activating the options menu. What happened?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Firefox Loses Window Focus, Mouse Button profiles change to default

I have a G700 mouse, which supports various hotkey profiles. For default profile, i have most buttons disabled. For games, i have game-specific hotkeys, and for firefox, i have firefox specific hotkeys (new tab, close tab, etc).
There are 2 times that I notice this behavior:
    1) During regular browsing, clicking on various links causes firefox to lose focus, and the mouse software reverts from the "firefox" profile to the "default" profile. Interacting with firefox in any way does not fix this problem. the only way for firefox to become the default profile again is to click a different window or on the desktop, and then click back into firefox. The profile seems to be lost right after clicking a (javascript) link, though the number of links clicked is arbitrary. I cannot reproduce this issue with any fixed results (number of click, time period before losing focus, etc). But I can reproduce this issue reliably.
When the mouse buttons stop working, the keyboard hotkey shortcuts DONT stop working. I dont have to re-select the firefox window to use keyboard shortcuts, I only have to do that if i want to use the mouse shortcut.
    2) If I am in private browsing mode, clicking links (specifically for websites that contain flash) causes the window which contains flash to move into the background and the non-private window becomes the foreground. Again, the mouse loses focus and the only way to regain focus is to manually click the window or to click away on a non-firefox object, then click the window. I believe this is a flashplayer based issue, though, and is unrelated to the profiles issue. When this happens, any interaction with a flash video also forces firefox's KEYBOARD hotkeys to not work. Ctrl+w and ctrl+t dont do anything, hitting escape does not give firefox control over keyboard hotkeys, and hitting "tab" only selects elements within the flash object. For youtube, it cycles through various clickable controls.
EDIT: I have tried resetting the firefox profile and using a completely new profile, and i have also tried syncing profiles. This is a persistent problem.

I'm using Firefox 23. This has been a problem since I got my mouse in September ish of 2012. As I stated, I've worked with logitech on this issue, they have no idea why it happens because only firefox exhibits this behavior. No other app on my computer does this and Firefox reset and clean profile do not do anything to solve the problem. Using logitech logging, I can produce a log and output of whenever the profile switches. I might be able to use logitech scripting to output debug information about what exactly causes it but that would take dev time I don't have.

  • In v3.x clicking my programmed "close" mouse button closed only active tab, in v4 it closes entire program, how do I change it back?

One feature I loved in Firefox v3.6 was closing tabs with a programmed mouse button. My Microsoft Intellimouse has a button that I programmed for the "Close" command. In 3.6, clicking this button would only close the active tab I was on. This made for fast opening and closing of tabs. It's the main feature that made me ignore all other browsers actually.
Now I got updated to v4. And now, clicking my mouse's Close button closes out the Firefox window completely, just as though I'd clicked the window close "X" in the upper right.
How can I get it back to the way it was in 3.6?

I have the same problem with a Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000.
The problem with the mapped close button closing the program, instead of tabs, only happens in Firefox 4.0.
The close button works correctly with Chrome 10, IE8 and Firefox 3.X.

  • Machine mistakenly thinks mouse button is held down while dragging

I have a bizarre, intermittent problem. Very occasionally, when I'm dragging files between folders, my computer thinks that the mouse button is still being held down even after I release it. As a result, I am constantly "carrying" the files around the screen with the mouse and I'm completely incapable of doing anything else since the machine thinks I'm mid-drag. As far as I can figure out, the only way to fix this is to reboot the machine. Extreme, I know, but I can't figure out any other way to get out of this state. This typically happens to me once or twice a week and I use my computer fairly heavily.
So, has anyone else heard reports of this bizarre behavior before? Any solutions?
I don't know if this matters, but I'm using a wireless mouse. However, plugging in a wired mouse while this is happening doesn't seem to be a solution.

Have you checked your System Preferences? If not...
Open System Preferences from your Application folder. Click: Keyboard&Mouse, and select the Mouse tab. At the bottom of that window change your Tracking, Scrolling and double clicking to see if that makes a difference.
If the wireless is a Mighty Mouse, try cleaning it: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1537
Mice need cleaning periodically. Fingerprints, lotions, dust, and lint can cause problems.
Clean the USB mouse as well.

  • PS CS6 - Left Click Mouse Button Way Too Touchy

I'm looking for a solution to an annoying problem with Photoshop CS6. Here's the problem:
When holding down the left mouse button in the scroll bar area for just a fraction of a second too long, the scroll bar moves several positions. In the past, it wasn't this touchy. It's so touchy that it's impossible to CONSISTENTLY click once and make the scroll thingy move just one position. In previous versions, it works like a charm. Is there a way to adjust this mouse issue?
I use it on every image for cloning so that I can check one section at a time. For this reason, I've now gone back to CS5, but also because CS6 crashes on me and it sometimes gets stuck on Auto Saving files (possibly because they're big).

This is easily reproduced.  Just click and hold on the scroll bar for the main image preview.
With Photoshop CS5, when you do this the scroll thumb moves once, then waits about half a second, then quickly repeats movements until it reaches where you have clicked.
With Photoshop CS6, it just immediately starts repeating, without the longer initial delay.
I don't know about Macs, but Photoshop CS5's behavior is Windows standard behavior.  Photoshop CS6's behavior is wrong.
I have to ask (of any Adobe folks reading), why would scroll bar operation be changed in this way?
