Hello,
we are searching for a way to change the TestStand configuration Directory programmatically ...
Before a sequence will be loaded... (maybe within the sequence file callback - SequenceFileLoad - if possible)
(Menue: Configure>Station Options>Preferences [Configuration Directory])
Is the TestStand API a workable way? ... Maybe someone of you have a nice example...

Hello Norbert,
we're doing that by a registry file before we open Teststand.
Create a test file, enter
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\National Instruments\TestStand\3.5]
"CfgLocation"="c:\\myProject\\myConfigLocation"
and save it with extention ".reg". On a double-click, windows sets the config location to C:\myconfigLocation. See attached file.
By the way, if the directory doesn't exist, Teststand creates it on startup. But if the drive doesn't exist, it refuses to start with ugly error messages.
But as mentioned, we switch the location when Teststand is closed.

Hi,
There are lots of .xml files generated under
$ORACLE_AS_HOME/j2ee/home/applications/xmlpserver/xmlpserver/xml.
(ex:/usb/bipub3/oracle/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home/applications/xmlpserver/xmlpserver/xml).
I found these files are generated in the following operation;
1.Log in BI Publisher.
2.Select the Schedules tab.
I think they are kind of temp files so we will be able to delete them.
But I'd like to know how to change the output directory.
Can we change the above directory to other path?

Why? As that may invalidate support since you configure/alter the deployment.
The location is specified in oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\xmlpserver\xmlpserver.war, so you could go into the war file and alter it.

Oracle Change and Configuration Management packs

Hi,
We are looking at implementing the Oracle Change and Configuration Management packs.
I would be very interested to hear from anybosy who is currently using these packs.
I have done some preliminary tests, and am getting what seems like a very simple error, but i am at a loss as to how to fix it.

We are looking to implement the change and configuration management packs, to automate our change control.
As part of my initial testing i have the following scenario...
I have three database (namely TEST_DB, QA_DB and PROD_DB) all configured and manageable in EM.
I have create a sample test schema in TEST_DB with tables, views, sequences, procedures and triggers.
Using EM, i am able to transfer the sample schema (with all objects) from the TEST_DB to the PROD_DB.
If i manually create the sample schema in the QA_DB, i am able to transfer the sample schema from the QA_DB to the PROD_DBm using EM.
When i try to transfer the sample schema from the TEST_DB to the QA_DB i get an error in the synchronization phase.
The capturing of the baseline, and the dictionary comparison phase complete successfully, but when i do the synchronization phase, i get
the follwing error...
SQL> ERROR:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
SVR4 Error: 2: No such file or directory
Process ID: 0
Session ID: 0 Serial number: 0
This seems strange because, it must have been able to see the destination database for it to complete the dictionary comparison phase, so
i cannot understand now why it cannot connect to the destination database to complete the synchronization phase.
any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Move Configuration directory server

We are in the process of transitioning from DS5.2 to DS6.3.1. A few of the consumers will be remaining at 5.2 level for some time (budget reasons). Currently they all have their configuration stored on one of our 5.2 masters. When the time comes to take down this old master we'd like to move the configuration directory (the o=NetscapeRoot information) to the individual consumers. Anyone know how to get the config for a particular consumer, upload it (to a file or a newly created o=netscaproot on the consumer), and the configure the admin server to look for it in the new location?

Yes, I do think it will be better to take the whole NetscapeRoot tree instead of trying to get just the host specific data now that I think about it. But the other question of getting the admin servers on the consumers to look for their info in the new location - I tried editing {install-root}/admin-serv/config/adm.conf and changing the 'ldaphost' line to a new host, but even after restart it kept going to the old server. Any ideas on getting this to change?

Change STMS transport directory

Hi gurus,
I have a High Availability SAP ERP system (SAP ECC 6.0) as PRD server. We used an old server for DEV system (Host name = sapdev). These two servers belonged to a STMS domain.
Recently we made homogeneous system copy and created a new Development (PRD copy) system to a new server. the new servers host name is AthinaDEV. We created a new STMS domain, joining the new DEV and PRD systems. The problem is that transport directory in PRD seams to be
sapdev\sapmnt\trans\ and in DEV seams to be
athinadev\sapmnt\trans\. In both servers in Transport Tool I have configured TRANSDIR as
athinadev\sapmnt\trans.
How can I change the transport directory to PRD to look
athinadev?

OK,
I added the profile parameter DIR_TRANS with the correct path to both systems and now both systems use
athinadev\sapmnt\trans as transport domain. All seems to be correct now (all checks return success) but I can't transfer any request.
For example: I have created a test ABAP program. I have created a request for that program. I released the request from SE11 transaction succesffully. But when I use STMS transaction I have the following situation: in import overview I can see both systmes and 1 request waiting. When I double click on PRD to enter to import queue the list is empty.
I have cheked the permissions on trans folder and seems to be ok (prdadm has corrrect permissions).
The two systems has connected with transport routes.
Can anyone help me find the solution?

Change central download directory for SLM

Hello together,
I configure the MOPZ/ SLM function in my Solman system, everythings works fine (download, implementation and so on).
Now I have a question, is it possible to change the central download directory. At the moment all download files goes to the normal EPS/in directory of my Solman.
Now I want to share a special directory, because there is a problems with the user authorisations in my Unix filesystem (different UID's of the OS Users in my whole landscape). This directory should be different to the current.
Is this possible, to change the download directory???

To change the common transport directory configuration, you can
first go to transaction AL11 of one of your system, for example, PRD.
Change the 'DIR_TRANS' parameter, so that it points to the directory that you want to change
Then go to STMS, choose 'System Overview' button to display systems
of your transport domain. Double click PRD, with 'Transport
Tool' tab, click 'Display <-> Change' button, you can change the
'transdir' value.
Please make sure it is equal to the same configuration of 'DIR_TRANS'.
Repeat the above steps on your other system. Make sure the configurations
of 'transdir' and 'DIR_TRANS' are the same as that on the PRD system.

Purpose of Separate Configuration Directory

I know that Sun best practices recommend that the configuration directory instance be separated (placed on a different physical server) in a directory environment.
Other than the ability to manage all directories in a single administration domain, what does this accomplish?
Is there anything in a replicated multi-master environment that would require such a setup, with all master and consumer instances pointing to the same configuration directory?
Is it possible to set up a replicated multi-master environment with configuration directories on each individual server?
When do "user" directories need to access the configuration directory instance, other than during initial setup? If the configuration directory is on the WAN relative to a user directory, could inability to access the config directory prevent the user directory from starting/stopping/accepting requests/otherwise functioning?

I don't disagree, however I think you can go too far. If everything is in one o=netscapeRoot, it's like putting all your eggs in one basket. If you loose that directory, you loose console access on all SunOne instances. And while having a multi-master config directory aleviates the problem somewhat, usually loosing the config directory does not occurr because of a hardware problem - rather user error or an upgrade gone bad - and the error usually replicates just fine. Backups are key before any operations that changes or could potentially chage the config instance. Personally I like to have one config instance per <Server Root>. It does not take much in resources.

EMCLI default configuration directory

How do I find the default configuration directory for EMCLI on the OMS host? I changed the EM Console ports and need to re-configure EMCLI to use the new port. I can get the configuration using:
$ $OMS_HOME/bin/emcli setup

Replicating Configuration Directory

Hello,
I have replicated my config directory (o=NetscapeRoot) from one server (ldap1) to a second server(ldap2). My question is, what do I need to change on my directory servers (ldap2, ldap3, ldap4) to use the configuration directory on ldap2 if ldap1 goes down?
I am running DS5.2.

So you have 2 config dirs. You import the one into the other and then replicate that back to the other one you just dumped. Now you have what you need.
We use an alteon by nortel. Both configs run on the same port but they dont have to. You set a virtual host for the port up on the alteon in failover mode to direct all traffic to one and fail over to the other if the first one is down. I then went and set my actual directory servers to look at that virtual.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the ''Safe mode'' start window.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")

How to change the default directory from within SQL*Plus ?

I want to change the default directory directly from within SQL*Plus to be able to launch my command files with simple instructions like :
@my_command.sql
If I haven't launched SQL*Plus from the directory containing the file my_command.sql, how do I change the default directory to the directory of my command files ?
I've searched through the Oracle documentation, there's no SET DEFAULTDIR or something like that. When I do a SHOW ALL, there's no variable containing the default directory.

How to Change Default User Directory without changing System Directory

Hi Everyone,
I need to change default User Directory for my JDeveloper 11.1.1.0.2.
Default User Directory = C:/JDeveloper/mywork
Default System Directory = *<JDEV_HOME>/System*
Now I Need to Change it to
My Default User Directory = C:/Monty/JDev11g2/
But System's Default Dir = *<JDEV_HOME>/System*(Same)
For this i explicitly Set variable ide.user.dir to C:/Monty/JDev11g2/ in JDev.boot file as explained in Installation document.
Working fine but it contains System Folder too. I don't want this.
Any Help to find me separate these both as it works for Single User.

How to change default compile directory tmp_ejb?

Someone knows how to change the default directory "tmp_ejb...." in WebLogic Server
7.0?
This is the default directory where WebLogic Server 7.0 generates and compiles
the EJB's declared in config.xml.
I try to specify the attribute TmpPath="ANOTHER_TMP_LOCATION_DIRECTORY_FOR_EJB"
in the EJBContainer node but still doesn't work.
The same thing happens when I test this attribute on EJBComponent declaration.
Someone knows if there is an enviroment variable that specify this tmp_ejb location
path?
It's false that the tmp_ejb is located where the config.xml file is placed.
I have 3 weblogic servers and they haven't the same behaviour.

ERROR: Cannot start mail services, configuration directory does not exist

I'm running an Xserve G5 with one internal boot drive and one RAID using the other two internal drives. I used Apple's Disk Utility to set-up the RAID.
Back in early December, I moved my mail database and mail store to the RAID. Ever since, when I restart the server, the mailaccess.log generates the following error:
Jan 23 18:51:33 mail master[47]: ERROR: Cannot start mail services, configuration directory does not exist: /Volumes/RAID/mail.data/db
I'm speculating this is a timing error that gets created when Postfix initially can't find the RAID. Then, it must try again and find it because the error message does not repeat and mail starts running.
Is this something to worry about?

You're right, it's a timing issues. The mail system is ready for work before the file system is mounted. It's benign.
