Hi all,
I had problems changing instrument in Netbeans,
I went to look at the website at JFugue and tried the codes for "Instrument Change",
however, it couldn't work.
I put I[volin] under Jbutton actionperformed events,
it had error that said "is not a statement",
what should i type in order to make it work?
Can anyone help me with it?

  • Changing the Instrument Name in Score View

    I've modified the Orchestral Template to create my own desired orchestral set up and changed the track names of the instruments and also applied these new names to their corresponding regions but in score view the old names (provided by the template) are still the ones that show up. I've had this problem before when not starting from a Logic template. How do I change instrument names i score view?

    Indeed CCT - I had a play around after your very useful post about Instrument names and the long and short of it is as you said:
    CCT wrote:
    Your only solution seems to be to use the Score set method of naming/labelling staffs, and then >working in Page view (ignoring the View:Instrument names)
    I too could not rename the actual Midi Instruments in Score View - short of going to the Midi Unit/Environment and bringing up the page with their actual names and changing them ( which I dont want to do).
    There is indeed an issue here if you want rename a Midi Instrument from say 'pop piano' to plain "Piano" in Score View and you do want the name on the *actual score* - it would be great if Score View could do this.
    However, Logic gives lots of opportunities for different names on the actual score.
    One thing that is not perhaps clear to the original Poster is that in order to do this, the best way is to Create a Score Set from Selection and then Double Click in the very top of the Inspector. This brings up all the actual name boxes. You can see the original Instrument name ( ie mid Pop Piano) and then you have the option for Full Name or Short Name which is selectable ... elsewhere in Score Settings> Names and Numbers> Instrument Names

  • Audio recording changes software instrument timing

    I haven't used GarageBand in years and started using it again today. After putting in some MIDI drum tracks (software instrument track) I recorded something with the guitar. At this point the MIDI notes actually changed time in the drum track. If I remove the guitar track the notes go back to normal. If I move the guitar track it changes the MIDI tracks of that it overlaps in that time frame. As you can see in the screen shot the notes have actually moved around, totally destroying the track.
    Is this some crazy bug or an even crazier new feature? Thanks.

    do you see a gold star in the far left of a track?

  • Changing Logic instrument library path

    I changed the path of the instrument library in garagebamd recently to my external HDD. That works great! now how can i get logic to recognize this path so that i may use garagebands instrument library in addition to logics just as it would be if they were installed on the same disk?

    You said you are using the instrument insert menu, and then you ask where is it?
    Presumably, if you have to ask, you don't know where it is, and thus are likely to be not using it.
    I really recommend starting with at least the Getting Started menu, which explains what and where these things are with screenshots in a far better way than can be typed out in a forum post.
    In short, you need to have a software instrument track selected, and click-holding on the input slot (directly above the output slot) to get the instruments menu. This is different to the insert FX menu, which will only list the FX plugins you have installed (ie, not any instruments).

  • Changing wait cursor in netbeans.

    Hi,
    I'm having problems trying to change my cursor, I'm using netbeans and i want to change the cursor when a task is been doing.
    I have a frameview and will show you the code. But i'm getting a error using setCursor().
    I tried using a Jframe instead of a FrameView and this code works ok. Who knows why i can't use setCursor() with a FrameView?
    Thanks for your help
    public class ProgressBarDemo extends FrameView
    private Task task;
    class Task extends SwingWorker<Void, Void> {
    @Override
    public Void doInBackground() {
    Random random = new Random();
    int progress = 0;
    //Initialize progress property.
    setProgress(0);
    while (progress < 100) {
    //Sleep for up to one second.
    try {
    Thread.sleep(random.nextInt(1000));
    } catch (InterruptedException ignore) {}
    //Make random progress.
    progress += random.nextInt(10);
    setProgress(Math.min(progress, 100));
    return null;
    @Override
    public void done() {
    Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().beep();
    startButton.setEnabled(true);
    setCursor(null); //turn off the wait cursor
    taskOutput.append("Done!\n");
    /** Creates new form ProgressBarDemo */
    public ProgressBarDemo() {
    initComponents();
    private void startButtonActionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt) {
    startButton.setEnabled(false);
    setCursor(Cursor.getPredefinedCursor(Cursor.WAIT_CURSOR));
    //Instances of javax.swing.SwingWorker are not reusuable, so
    //we create new instances as needed.
    public static void main(String args[]) {
    java.awt.EventQueue.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
    public void run() {
    new ProgressBarDemo().setVisible(true);
    }

    So, you are talking about Swing application Framework???
    It would certainly not work because 'FrameView' is neither a Frame, nor a Panel, etc. , I don't think NetBeans would allow you to compile such a code.
    See you can use:
    there is an '.........App' class,( for your case it may be ProgressBarDemoApp, but I doubt it), use its static method to obtain refrence to mainframe like this:
    JFrame frm= ProgressBarDemoApp.getApplication().getMainFrame();
    frm.setCursor(Cursor.WAIT_CURSOR);Another possibility is:
    NetBeans make a default main panel in View named 'mainPanel', you can set its default cursor:
    mainPanel.setCursor(Cursor.WAIT_CURSOR);hope it works............
    Thanks!

  • Won't let me save as archive nor change software instrument to audio track

    You were able to do both of these before iLife 09. Also, I see the option to archive, but it won't let me select it. Anyone?

    One: Locking a track mixes it down to an audio track (hidden in the project package in a folder called "Freeze Files") that is being used on playback, so the computer doesn't have to render the software instruments.
    Two: If by "sound modules" you mean the software instruments - no, they are not included in a "Save as Archive" file. As I said, it's the audio loops and copied regions. Try adding a blue audio loop to your song, and the "Save as Archive" option will appear!

  • User Change on Instrument

    I purchased a Palm TX second hand and cannot get rid of the original username nor can I get it to sync with my old info (I had a Palm 505).  Can anybody help?  Thanks
    Post relates to: Palm TX

    First problem solution:  Do a Hard Reset on the TX.
    To perform a Hard Reset: (Palm Knowledgebase article #887)
    http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/887_en.html
    While pressing and holding the Power button down, tap and release the Reset button in back and continue to hold the Power button down. When the grey Palm logo appears, you can release the Power button.
    You should now see the warning page in about 5 languages. Press the UP direction on the 5-way pad to complete the task. Your Palm will reset itself several times as it re-installs the original programs and erases all your previous data.
    Second problem:
    DO NOT send the data saved from the m505 to the TX!   This is a big mistake.  The devices are very different hardware-wise, and Palm has a way to Upgrade to a new device:
    How to Upgrade from a Previous Palm device to a Newer One: http://kb.palm.com/ and enter 12926 (General Upgrade guide) or 45175 (Upgrade to Centro) into the "solution ID:" box (lower right).

  • Changing instruments deadens pre-existing midi file

    Hello there folks,
    I'm working on a song that has one instance of a midi bassoon.  It sounds pretty mediocre so I bought Berlin Wood Winds and would like to replace the instrument with a new one.  So what I have done is created a copy of the track keeping all settings.  I then hold down option and drag down the midi file. When I play this I hear the second midi bassoon play.  (the original one is muted.)  However, as soon as I change the instrument the midi file no longer plays.  I can play the new instrument live with my midi controller, but the actual midi data seems to be deadened.  I have tried loading an instance of Trillian and that has the same problem!  What could I be doing wrong?  Is this a bug?
    I'm running Logic 9.1.7 on a 2.44 Ghz 12-core Mac Pro, in 10.8.1 with 24 Gigs of memory.
    Many thanks for any help in advance!
    - Fredo

    Very strange. I've actually had a similar experience before, but rather than cut the volume, the volume would be raised to +3 like there was some type of automation...yet I could never find any automation assigned.
    The Basics: A couple trouble shooting tips (I apologize if they seem rather "amateurish")
    Check for hidden automation on the track
    Check for automation within the MIDI region itself (located under the piano roll) or HypeEditor
    Create a new, blank instrument track. Import AU instrument. Duplicate MIDI region to new track.
    If not of these work, what I find will work is to copy the actual notes from the original MIDI region, create a new MIDI region and paste the notes.
    Cheers.

  • Changing instrument during Track playback

    Hello,
    I am using a track to play my noteOn/noteOff events and everything works as intended, the problem I am having is that I would like to change the instruments that is being used within the track.
    I've come up with the following code which is designed invoke the "program change" command on all the MIDI channels with the new instrument, the problem I am having is working out how to apply this to the track so the instruments is different.
    public void LoadInstrument()
    for(int i = 0; i < instruments.length; i++)
    if(instruments.getName() == "Clean Guitar")
    instrumentToLoad = instruments[i];
    drumPatch = instrumentToLoad.getPatch();
    I've seen that you can send the Track a PROGRAM_CHANGE event to signify the instrument is changing but I'm not sure how to go about creating the object to hold the necessary information and adding it to the Track.
    Many Thanks.
    (Apologies for the poor code layout, I can't seem to find a suitable markup type)

    After doing a little more digging around I've found the solution:
    try
    ShortMessage instrumentChange = new ShortMessage();
    instrumentChange.setMessage(ShortMessage.PROGRAM_CHANGE, 0, 6,0);
    //MidiEvent instrumentChange = new MidiEvent(ShortMessage.PROGRAM_CHANGE,drumPatch.getBank(),drumPatch.getProgram());
    track.add(new MidiEvent(instrumentChange,0));
    catch(Exception e)
    //Handle
    Note: The "**6**" parameter in the .setMessage method is the number of the instrument to play.

  • Instrument Changes in Midi Files

    It's been a while since I changed the instruments in a midi file. I can't recall how I did it now.....any tips?

    You would need to use QuickTime Pro version 6 as this feature has been removed in version 7.

  • One Instrument change affecting all tracks

    I'm having a problem changing the Instrument patch in just one track: When I change the patch (on EXSP24) on a single Audio Instrument track, it automatically applies the same patch change to ALL Audio Instrument tracks. For example:
    I've got drums on track 1, Instrument 1, Channel 1.
    I create a new Instrument track w/new channel & a different patch. Logic then automatically assignes this new patch to the previous drum track also, as well as any other existing Instrument tracks, & any new tracks I try to create! Any change I make in one track comes up the same on every track.
    What gives? Does this have anything to do with choosing Mono, Stereo or Multi Channel in the I/O slot? Does the Cycle function have anything to do with it?
    This is aggravating & my ProCare tutor can't figure it out either. I'm pretty new to Logic, but then again I get the sense that so is my ProCare tutor...

    I can't believe your basic question has been ignored for this long. This is something that I had hoped somebody else would give you a better answer for because it has driven me crazy as well, but I do have a work around for you that I stumbled across. The manual as usual has been unhelpful, the proper information is probably filed away in a tiny corner somewhere. Here's how I do it. Use the Create command from the the Track sub-menu of the arrange window. Logic will create a track under and with the same assignment as whatever track was highlighted prior to that command. Any changes to the assignment of either of these tracks will affect the other, which could be very useful, but shouldn't be the default in my opinion. Now click hold in the middle of the track name or icon. Follow the menu hierarchy as such: Audio>Audio Instrument>Inst X, X being a different number than the instrument number of your initial highlighted track. You could also select Audio Track, Bus, Aux or Output this way. You can now go to the channel strip and select whatever software instrument assignments you like for either track and they will work independently of each other. This is way too many commands for something as elementary as setting up a new track. I've assumed that there is a more elegant way to do this but I can't find it in the manual. If any of my fellow geniuses know of a more streamlined method, please add it to this thread.

  • GB keeps changing the tempo on my real instrument track!

    Hey, newbie here with a problem. I know that by default GB will change real instrument tracks to match the project tempo. So whenever I create a new track for a real instrument, I open up the track editor to unclick the box for this option. First of all, it doesn't even let me access the box unless I first record something in the track. Then, even if I uncheck the box, as soon as I go to create a new track, GB changes the tempo and I see the box checked again! It's like the program wants to do this no matter what. I must be doing something wrong, but I can't figure it out. It's driving me nuts and made me waste a lot of time. Help!

    To answer the last post you left in the GB1 forum...
    You're still not understanding what I said. GB does not change the tempo of what you played to match the projects tempo UNLESS you change the tempo of the project after you've recorded the track.
    There is an Enhance Timing feature you can turn on which will try to make your playing match the projects tempo, but here is the clearest example I can give:
    If you set the project tempo to 40, and then you play some guitar at a tempo of 200, GB will not do anything to change that. Your playing will still be at 200BPM. All GB is in this case is a "Tape Recorder".

  • Question about Midi loops and Software Instruments

    In past versions of Garage Band, I could take a Midi loop ("the green ones") and drag it onto a track with a different instrument and it would play with that instrument. For example, I could drag a loop of a piano melody onto a guitar track, and the melody would play on the guitar. In '08 though, if I drag the piano melody onto the guitar track, it changes the instrument for that track to the loop's instrument, in this case the piano. Is there any way to switch this function off? I find nothing in the preferences.
    It's getting really annoying constantly dragging out loops and changing instruments to what I intend to have.

    not to dissuade you from trying, you could always find something that i missed, but i did test the modifier keys, none changed anything (and the shiftKey prevented a drag from occurring at all)
    as i recall, no matter what i did, dropping into a blank track changed it, dropping into a track that already had a region in it tossed up a warning dialogBox (i think it allowed you to proceed, automatically create a new track, or cancel the operation)
    this does seem like a behavior that should have a toggle in prefs

  • Using real instruments on Powerbook G4

    Hi,
    I've been using garageband on my ibook for over a year now and thought that I would try using it on my sister's PowerBook G4. The program works fine with software instruments, but when I plug my gutiar into it and try to use other real instruments with it it does not record a thing. This is weired because the program fully registers that a real instrument is plugged in and looks as if its recording while I'm playing what I'm playing on it. So, why is this? Is there any way I can fix this problem? How would I do it?

    I think I understand what you are doing and what the problem might be:
    "Then I open garageband and start a new file. Then I change the instrument setting from software instruments to real instruments."
    When GB opens it has a software piano track that it displays by default. You create a new track. The screen comes up and you set it up as a Real Instrument Track. When you create a new track it will be enabled for recording and a little red button will light up showing that that track is enabled for recording, as long as that track is selected.
    "Then I delete the software track and begin to try and record a new basic track."
    When you select the software instrument track to delete it, you are deselecting the track you just created and GB turns off the track-enabling button on that real instrument track. Try not deleting that default software piano track and see if that helps. It certainly doesn't hurt to leave it there.
    "Then I push the record button and start to play. As I'm playing I'll see the line moving and the color changing purple or red or whatever color it turns, I don't remember which indicating that I'm recording something."
    That is the part I don't understand, because it shouldn't be creating any sort of colored region, but the line does move. That's my best guess, anyway.

  • I bougth the sf2 program change for garagaband, but what is it exactly and how do I make it work?

    I couldn't find out what exactly the sf2 program change is, but it seemed nice, so I bought it, hoping that it would explain itself when installed. It hasn't. I did hope that it would give me some more midi instruments, and it seems like it should, but how to get them into garaband (10.0.2)?
    This thread seems to explain it: How to do use Soundfonts (.sf2 files) in GarageBand 10?
    It says I can add "audio unit plugins" to a track. Now I don't know what an audio unit plugin is, but I assume that it is a confusing word for a sound, and that it refers specifically to the sf2 sounds. I got as far as the smart control inspector but then "Click an empty part of the Audio Units area, choose Audio Units, then choose a plug-in from the submenu." What is the audion units area? I have clicked the empty part of whatever I could find here, but there is no submenu anywhere.
    Is there anybody out there who could give a really basic explanation of what it is that I have purchased and how I can make it work? I would really apreciate it.
    Ahston

    I got a bit further. I found the submenu and I am able to load a default instrument. But I cannot change that instrument to any other.
