Change of structure of database table

A custom database table has been created and is already in use by 10 programs. Now a new requirement has come to add a field i.e. a check box to the database table to be used by one of the 10 programs. Can we change the structure of the database table after activating it and when the table is in use? Please provide me inputs on this.

Yes. U can change it. But I suggest u to do it through the process of 'Append Structure'.
If u have any probelm after changing follow this process.
Goto Utilities > Database Utilities> Activate and Adjust Database

Open Hub - Change from File to Database table

Hello Experts;
I want to change the Open Hub Service that we create from File to Database table.
We are using the Delta Update. However, after I change the Open Hub, Activate the transformation and DTP, when I run it, I don't have any value in the table.
If I run a new delta into my cube, in the table I only get the data from delta.
Can anyone knows how to upload all the requests that I have in my cube for the first time I run the delta DTP?

Create a new Full DTP and execute, so that you can dump all of the current contents of the InfoCube into the table and push/pull that table to the target prior to the next delta retraction.

Include Structure to Database table like ci_aufk

Hi All
I want to create a database table with an include structure.But i don´t want to create the structure for now.
I want to create it the same way as SAP did it with Table AUFK
there is an include structure CI_AUFK which does not really exist.
If i try this, i get an activation error. Does anybody know how to create something like that??

I created a table with some fields and activated it. Later on, i added the structure 'CI_AUFK' in the same way as it is present in table AUFK. The include structure got added successfully and i was able to activate the same.
Note that structure 'CI_AUFK' is standard SAP structure which can be activated as and when required. It will not be possible to include our own Z structures and activate them as and when required.*
However, we can create structures that start with SAP naming convention for ex: CI_BOFA and then include them in our custom tables, we need not add any fields to those structures(during creation) and activate them as and when required in the future.

Change Date Column in database table format from mm/dd/yyyy to dd/mm/yyyy

Hi I use Jdeveloper 11G with an Oracle Database.
My table is empty currently but I am importing some excel columns into it and the dates in them are throwing errors because you have some dates like 14/09/2012 which would mean the month is out of range even though its not.
This seems like a simple thing to do but I was unable to find how online.
Please Help

I'm not sure I understand COlumn Type is DATE
There is no Simple Date type. This is DATABASE, has nothing to do with Entities and Views etc. This is straigh in the Database Table.

Assignment between include/Append structures and Database Tables

I need to find the list of all Append/Include Structures in my system and Their assignment to Tables.
(For Each Append/Include structure, to which table it was assigned)

Hi,
Go to se11 - data type - give Z* and press F4.
Pop-up will come - click on search for structures - u will get standard structures.
Then take any structure name and check for where used list ( cont + shift + F3) .
U will get all the DB tables where and all they have used that include / append structure.

Tracking changes in a customized database table

Hi All,
I have made a customized Z table having the following technical attributes:
Data class APPL1 Transaction data, transparent tables
Size category 0 Data records expected: 0 to 40,000
\/ Log data changes(ticked).
I have made one table maintenance generator for the table and inserted some values in it. I am not able to view the changes made in the table in table DBTABLOG or using transaction SCU3.
What are the other settings needed to view changes in table(table history). <<removed by moderator>>

Deleting and updating database table

hi all,
i have to update the database table based on my internal table(both having same structure).
my database has 2 records having a key field 1 and 2 respectively.(2 records)
and my internal table has records with key fields 3, 4 and 5 respectively(3 records) .
i want to delete all data from database table first..
then i want to insert all the three records in the database table..
finally i want my database to have 3 records with key fields 3, 4 and 5 respectively that are in the internal table
what should be the correct way?

DELETE dbtab.
to update the database by using internal table
-MODIFY dbtab FROM TABLE itab.
but as per my knowledge structures of internal table and database table should be same
if the database table is a Ztable please change the structure of database table as you said
Put fields 3,4and 5 as key fields

How to adjust adhoc query when the database table changed.

I have created an adhoc Query , however after few days there was a requirement to remove some fields and change the length of some fields . Now the Adhoc query showing as to adjust , however when iam trying to adjust nothing is happening. Could any one let me know how to adjust with the table strucutre in the adhoc query.

Yes i have adjusted the database from se11 itself by going into utlity > adjust database . However i can still see the
adhoc query -> infoset asking me when iam trying to go in change mode saying the database table has been changed do you want to adjust .
I have adjusted by going to more functions still there is no change. Please let me know what exactly i have to do.

Bank Key field change from database table

Dear All,
At our client, 4 house banks are maintained. The bank keys entered for these are not BSR Codes but something like 100,200,300,400.
This is not correct as we need to maintain BSR Code in Bank Key field as it is required on Form 16 A (TDS Cetificate)
The Bank Key field is in display mode. I am thinking of changing wrong value from database table T012 & BNKA .
Has anybody done this before? Will it affect my past or future transactions?

What you are saying is correct & I subscribe to your view also.
Creation of House Bank all over again seems to be one of the better options.
We tried doing one more thing & which is working fine on Development.
Our primary requiremnt is to have BSR Code on the From 16 A. System picks up the Bank key for this.
We copied the standard Form 16A & created a Z. Then abaper created a subroutine. It is like when Bank key 100 comes to Form16A, replace it with say 0098500 (Correct BSR Code of the Bank)
This helped to get the correct BSR Code in Form 16A & saved us from recreation of House Bank data.

Modifying database table in ALV Grid

I need to be able to modify the database table in ALV Grid. Here's the code. The database table, that is displayed is 'zng_so_head', it's internal table is 'res_tab'. In the program i tried to create a button 'CHANGE' on the ALV-toolbar, but when executing the program there's no such button (why?). Easy way to write out internal table to database table ?

i have a special requirement:
as i do not want to change the profile settings on an r/3 4.6c machine, i want to modify my program so it can handle even large amount of data. the plan is to fill internal table and for say every 100000 rows write those out to a table on database. how could i do this most performant ?

This solution worked for me, which was suggested by Seshu. May be you can try this,
Modify ZPPPRICE(your database table name) from table t_final(internal table name).
In my case I updated Custom table.
The internal table is of same structure as database table.
Modify command will insert the record the record if it is new, if the record is existing then it will update the record with the internal table values.
I got data from Excel file in to my internal table.

Changes made to the database are not being affected in Toplink work bench..

Im recently encountering the following problem with Toplink mapping work bench.
The cchanges are not visible when I make any changes to the underlying database tables and retrieve that tables into mapping work bench .
The retrived table information still contains old information and the new fields added are not seen and the old fields which were deleted are not deleted.
Is there any cache associated with TOplink..if so How can I flush that cache so that i always end up with the latest DDL s in my Toplink

You need to explicitly refresh the tables. In the Mapping Workbench, select or multi-select the tables you'd like to refresh, right click on them and choose "refresh".
IF you are doing that, and not seeing the changes, then the most likely issue is that you are connecting to a different database and/or using a different JDBC login.

How to change a field of type CHAR of a database table to DATS

I have a database table: ZLT_aztnew with fields M1, M2, K1, K2, A1, A2, P1, P2, S2, D1, D2, STD, BES. All these fields are of type 'Character'. except D2 which is of type DATS. The field D1 is date and is in format DD.MM.YYYY.
I want to convert this field D1 to type DATS so that I can use a date range through 'selection option' to select other data of other fields (M1, M2, K1, K2, A1, A2, P1, P2, S2, D1, STD, BES.) related to field D1 from the database table Zlt_aztnew.

Can we change the fields of database unique index in a customised table?

Hi all..
I want to know that can we create or change or delete the database unique index of a customized table?
In my case, there is a customised table with 4 primary keys with all the records to be maintained thru transaction code SM30.
There is database unique index maintained for this table which has 2 fields. These 2 fields are out of the 4 primary fields of the table.I hope I have made myself clear!
Now when I am trying to insert a record in the table it give me a short dump.( It says duplication of records is not allowed)
The reason being that the new record that I am trying to insert in the database table has those 2 fields for which the unique index is maintained is the same as an already existing record.And the other two fields are different from the already existing record.So overall the combination of the 4 primary fields is different.
Please tell me how shall I proceed now?
I also tried to change the Unique index but it is asking me some kind of authrization(You are not authorized to make changes (authorization object S_DEVELOP)).Also I am not sure whether changing the unique index is feasible or not.?

I think you will not be able to do unique indexing withou the help of primary keys,so use all the primary keys into the table field selections and and then create indexing otherwise dupilication of keys can occur. if you are not able to keep the primary keys then go for non unique key indexing,where you have to add the client field and the any keys of your wish.

Changing row content in displayed table & saving it in database table back

I am just Learning BSP applications.....i got struck with a problem....
   i am using cl_htmlb_tableview class for selecting a row...and that line is made editable....
i want to change the data of that line and then modify the entry in the database table....
i am using a button to be clicked and in that i am reading the line according to the 'tv_data->rowselection'
and modifying the database table with that work area...but my data is not changing....
   Can u help me out how to get this....and what is that is being missed ......and how to proceed with it so that it is done....

<now update ur database with local variable value>
