Change The Color Of Fomula Field Based On Results

I am using Crystal XI and I am familar with the Highliting Expert, but my question is can I have a formula field print red on the report based on a certain condition, blue on a different condition, etc. I am not sure how to code this if possible, so I will give an example:
If Sales ($100) - Cost ($50) = Profit ($50) then print field red
else if Sales ($80) - Cost ($40) = Profit ($40) then print field green
else print field blue.
I will need to add additional criteria to each IF statement which is why I am not using the Highliting Function, so my basic question is how to code the formula to have field field print different colors based on the field values.
Any help would be geatly appreciated.
Thanks Jim

Hi Jim,
Right click the field >> Format >> Font Tab.
Find 'color' >> Click the little icon with a pencil and X-2 symbol to open the formula box.
Place your formatting formula in the box:
If @Sales - @Cost < 0 Then
     Formula = crRed
ElseIf @Sales - @Cost >= 50 Then
     Formula = crGreen
Else
     Formula = crBlue
End If
Full list of Color Constants are in the functions list of the Formula Editor.

  • How can i change the color of a field in a table depence of a value

    Hi forum
          Is this possible to change the color of a row in a specific field of a table depends of the value of this field,,, for example if the value is equal or greather than 1.
    Thnks
    Josué Cruz

    Josue,
    Yes this is possible if you use the fillColor method. It requires R,G,B value of color.
    //Sample code which highlights cell2 in my table which has two rows.
    frm1.Table1.Row2.Cell2.fillColor = "120,120,120";
    // If you want highlight complete row.
    frm1.Table1.Row2.fillColor = "120,120,120";
    So now just apply an if loop which reads the input value as greater than 1 and use the code shown above.

  • Shouldn't this script change the color of a field ?

    if( this.rawValue == "1") { this.border.fill.color.value == "255,0,0"; }

    smde,
    I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish but I would discourage directly modifying the XML source.
    Typically a fill colour change is performed in response to an event such as a failed validation. In this case you would put your script in the validation event for the applicable object.
    Additionally, your script is not going to work because you are checking equality "==" rather than doing an assignment "=".
    this.border.fill.color.value = "225,0,0,";
    will change the fill colour to red.

  • Changing the color of the column in a JTable based on the selection (mouse)

    Hi,
    I want to change the color of all the cells in a column based on the mouse clicked event.
    I have managed to select the entire column. And, even, I have found a working example in the internet. But I don't understand why in my case it doesn't work.
    This is the code (an inner class for a TableCellRenderer):
    class MCTableCellRenderer extends JLabel implements TableCellRenderer {
              private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;
              @Override
              public Component getTableCellRendererComponent(JTable table,
                        Object value, boolean isSelected, boolean hasFocus, int row,
                        int column) {
                   setFont(table.getFont());
                   if(value instanceof Double){
                        setHorizontalAlignment(SwingConstants.RIGHT);
                        DecimalFormat numberFormat = (DecimalFormat) NumberFormat.getInstance();
                        numberFormat.applyPattern("#######.#");
                        String val = numberFormat.format(value);
                        setText(val);
                   if(isSelected){
                        setBackground(Color.RED);
                        System.out.println("is selected");
                   else{
                        setBackground(Color.BLACK);
                        System.out.println("is not selected");
                   return this;
        }I have set opacity to true for the contentPane, but without any result.
    Any advice will be very apreciated.

    Problem solved.
    My Renderer should have extended the abstract class DefaultTableCellRenderer.
    class MCTableCellRenderer extends DefaultTableCellRenderer {

    When creating a fillable form and saving it as a pdf, the default color of the data fields is a light blue. How do I change the color to something else that will copy better, e.g. a light yellow?

    It's probably the fields highlight color of the application, which you can change via Edit - Preferences - Forms.

  • Tabular Forms - how to change the color of text when the field is disabled

    Hi,
    I have a tabular form and some of it's columns are disabled showing text in grey color...
    is there a way to change the color to black and bold the text...?
    thanks

    Okay, i've taken a look at your example.
    The column formatting does not work on the input fields. The help on the item says that it generates a span with a style attribute. This would work for a display field, not for an input field.
    Css like i've written should be in the style tags, put up in the header section of the page (page -> edit -> header region).
    You've already put script tags there, the style tags go there aswell. You shouldn't even need to put your script tags in the header region. Just put your code up in the javascript functions region (without the script tags).
    However, i tested in firefox and here color works on an input field, changing the font color. In IE it does not do this. Cross browser implementations and such, not much to do about it here. See http://stackoverflow.com/questions/602070/changing-font-colour-in-textboxes-in-ie-which-are-disabled.
    I did notice that you build your form with a bunch of input fields, which you disable through javascript in the footer of the region. Then on submit, you set the disabled to false again for all those fields! If you want those fields to always be submitted to the server, why wouldn't you use the readonly attribute? Readonly fields are always submitted, and can't be edited by the user. Plus, readonly fields CAN be styled however you want! You can get rid of the javascript code in your header then.
    Even the javascript in the footer is not necessary. If you just add 'readonly="true"' (without single quotes) to the element attributes of your items (edit column -> column attributes region) = no javascript at all (less maintenance).

  • How to change the color of the text field of form

    Hi ,
    Is there any way to change the color of the text field of the form........
    Thnx in advance .......

    Hi Bob. I'm new to these forums and I'm not sure of protocol and exactly how this is supposed to work, so If I'm doing this wrong then please excuse me and let me know.
    I liked you solution on 'How to change the color of an Item on a form' using <blink>.
    I'm new to this application and coding as well so its kind of foreign to me.
    Working on a Report Page,
    I would like to have item, :P1_JOB_NO blink when the difference between sysdate and :P1_DATE_DUE < 7 days.
    I can identify the job_no which should blink by using the sql statement:
    SQL> select job_no from oax_projects07 where
    2 (sysdate - date_due < 7) and
    3 emp_name = 'GARY PILKENTON';
    JOB_NO
    20060627 050
    But I dont know the proper syntax to make it blink,
    or when to plug the syntax into.
    ie, is it a process, a validation, etc.
    Do you have any advice for me?

  • Changing the color property node of an indicator based on a certain condition

    An upper level VI sends a set of conditions to a VI that SHOULD change the color of the indicators based on a set of t/f cases. However, the color of the indicators is changing in the lower level VI but not in the VI that is doing the calling. I am not using an while loops, just case statements. Help?!

    What you need to do is get a reference to the upper level VI control that you want to change to colour of. I have edited your VIs that you included to show how I passed the references to the controls into the subVI. The subVI can then change the colours, values, labels, etc. of the controls and changes are immediate.
    Hope this is what you're looking for.

  • Is it possible to change the color of the text in one specific field?

    If I want to make someone's mobile number show up as the primary contact, is it possible to make the text for that number a different color or make it bold? I can't seem to find a way to do it.
    Thanks.

    Make a Shape > Inspector > Graphic > Tinted Image Fill > Scale to fit > browse to image > click on the color patch to change the color to what you want
    or
    Drag in an image > overlay it with a Shape > select the color for the shape and change its Opacity
    Shapes may have Gradient and Advanced Gradient (multiple colors) fills both linear and radial. Both are in the Graphic Inspector as is Opacity.

  • I have tried everything! How to change the color of text based on value Acrobat 9

    How can I change the color of the text to red if the value is "Unacceptable" and leave it green for all other rating values? Where can I put it for it to work? Also, Unacceptable is set to an export value of 0.
    var n = +this.getField("NumericSummaryRating").value;
    var a = +this.getField("Rating1.0").value;
    var b = +this.getField("Rating1.1").value;
    var c = +this.getField("Rating1.2").value;
    var d = +this.getField("Rating1.3").value;
    var e = +this.getField("Rating1.4").value;
    if (n == 0) {
        event.value = "Not Rated";
    } else {
    if (a==0 || b==0 || c==0 || d==0 || e==0) {
        event.value = "Unacceptable";
    else {
        if (n>0 && n < 3.0){
            event.value = "Unacceptable";
        else if (n >= 3.0 && n < 3.6) {
            event.value = "Successful";
        else if (n >= 3.6 && n < 4.6) {
            event.value = "Excellent";
        else if (n >= 4.6) {
            event.value = "Outstanding";

    You can add this at the end of the code:
    if (event.value=="Unacceptable") event.target.textColor = color.red;
    else event.target.textColor = color.green;

    Hi Patrick,
    It works in my test environment using your code.
    I suggest follow the steps as below:
    1. Save the following code as a js file (TaskListView.js) and upload it into the SiteAssets Document Library.
    2. Edit the list view page.
    3. Edit the list web part. Go to Miscellaneous -> JS Link.
    4. Add the following URL into the JS Link textbox.
    ~site/SiteAssets/TaskListView.js
    5. Click "OK" and save the page.
    If it still not works, please check whether active the Minimal Download Strategy feature in site feature or not.

  • Is there a way to change the color of the Bezier Curves and points to a different color other than black  I find it perplexing while setting points and curves working on a photo that needs to be separated from it's background for placement on transparent

    Is there a way to change the color of the Bezier Curves and points to a different color other than black  I find it perplexing while setting points and curves working on a photo that needs to be separated from it's background for placement on transparent backgrounds. Any thoughts?

    Yes. Well, sort of: instead of a "path", set the pen tool to "shape" in the tool properties. Then set the fill colour to transparent, and the stroke colour to the colour you want. You can also set the stroke width.
    Not perfect, but at least you can see the path more clearly - the anchor points and handles still remain the default colour. Open the path panel, and right-mouse click the path shape to create a selection based on that shape. The Paths panel menu also allows you to create work paths based on that shape.
    Unfortunately when you try to move the handles the black thin outline appears again until you release the mouse button.
    This is one of several things that works better in Photoline: in Photoline, once the path is set to a specific colour, editing the path uses the actual colour and stroke width. which is extremely handy for creating path based selection with awkward background colours and/or a high resolution screen. In Photoline the handles and bezier points are also much, much larger, which makes it rather simpler to work with as well - especially on a higher resolution screen. And when selected the handles and points are a clear red with a black outline - again easier to spot and identify. I just works better, in my opinion.
