Changes in Windows 8.1 Basic w.r.t COM security

Hello,
In Windows 8.1 Basic edition, our COM server is crashing frequently.
These crash issues does not occur on Windows 8.1 professional.
Is it due to any missing components or features or any changes in COM security settings?
Is it linked to UAC?
Other applications like iexplorer.exe also crashed frequently.
These issues are frequently reported from the market.
Kindly let us know the differences between Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 professional editions w.r.t COM security.

Is there something wrong on windows 8.1 basic edition that cause this crash?
In order to check this aspect, I would recommend use a new clean OS environment to run COM server. Can you try install a new one for the COM server, and then we can narrow down the issue.

You probably erased the hard drive by doing that. If you have got a Mid 2010 or later iMac, you can use Internet Recovery to reinstall OS X > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718 Hold Command, Option (Alt) and R keys while your computer is starting.
Then, open Disk Utility, choose your hard drive at the top of the sidebar, go to Erase tab and erase it in "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". Finally, close Disk Utility and reinstall OS X.

ITunes is changing my Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Basic

I had iTunes problems. One error showed up that stop me from opening itunes, so i uninstall and reinstall itunes. It runs but it changes my windows to Windows 7 Basic. iTunes says that it running for older version of windows. Whats up?
BTW: Don't tell me to update iTunes because I got the new iTunes 11 about 3 weeks ago and still shows that same error. Running for older version of windows.

I need some help here. Get my Qosmio X500 (PQY33a-00x00J) recently.
I am having problem with the pre-installed WINDVD player. Every time I lauched the WINDVD program, the color sceme changed to Window 7 basic. Below is the text version of the error message:
The following program has performed an action that requires Windows to temporarily change the color scheme to Windows 7 Basic.
Program: WinDVD MFC Application
Publisher: Corel Corporation
Process identifier (PID): 4300
Windows will automatically change the color scheme back to Windows Aero when this program or other programs performing similar actions are no longer running.

DVD and video files are ok as I can use the factory preloaded "Cyberlink PowerCoinema".
Its when I use the factory pre loaded "Windvd BD for Toshiba" to play blue ray disk that trigger the change of colour scheme to Window 7 basic.

Blue Screen Error for Windows 7 Home Basic 64 Bit

I have a Sony Vaio E Series with WINDOWS 7 64bit home basic preinstalled. It worked perfectly fine for 2 yrs until last month, I needed to replace the hard drive due to bad sectors. Now, after a month of replacing my hard drive fresh from
Sony Center, I decided to do a dual boot (install another OS - Windows 8.1 pro) on a separate partition. Everything is averagely fine. But 2 nights ago, I encounter a blue screen error for WIN 7 (my pre installed one). It happened the second time, so I started
it in safe mode and did a system restore. I don't know if it will prevent future occurence of blue screen, but to make sure, I reinstall my factory default drivers using Vaio CARE... Pls help.
PS: I have not encountered BLUE SCREEN error in Windows 8.1 yet. Is it OS specific? Here's the error the second time, it happened on my Windows 7:

If you are not equipped to debug this problem, you should use some basic troubleshooting techniques.
•Make sure you have enough disk space.
•If a driver is identified in the bug check message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates.
•Try changing video adapters.
•Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates.
•Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.

Windows Vista Home Basic 64-bit

I'm looking at the customisable configurations, and I see that you offer 8GB RAM but that a 64-bit system is required to support it. At the same time, the only option that explicity says it's 64-bit is the Business edition of Vista, which I definitely do not need. Is there any way to specify an order with Windows Vista Home Basic 64-bit?
Yes, I know what I'm talking about and I need the power, but none of the administrative nonsense associated with the Business addition. From Wikipedia:
"Similar to Windows XP Home Edition, Home Basic targets budget-conscious users not requiring advanced media support for home use. ... Home Basic supports one physical CPU, but with multiple cores. 64-bit Home Basic supports up to 8 GB of RAM. ... Comparable to Windows XP Professional and Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, Windows Vista Business Edition targets the business market. I'm looking at a configuration with a high-power, dual-core processor and 8GB RAM with the 2GB disk cache on top of that for, among other things, high-volume, intense audio processing. None of the extras associated with Business are things I need, but I do need a 64-bit system to utilise 8GB RAM. Frankly, I just really don't want to have to pay $79 simply for the RAM support, I don't want to deal with it through Microsoft, and although the basic edition is apparently not eligible for a free Windows 7 upgrade, I can cross that bridge when I come to it.
My questions:
If I'm configuring a machine with >3GB installed memory, will it by default be configured with the 64-bit version of the edition of Windows I've selected?
If so, will there be a cost difference? There is no cost difference between the listed 32- and 64-bit versions of the Business edition.
If not, is there any way to make this simple change on my order? Does Levono even ship Windows Vista Home Basic 64-bit?

SInce Lenovo don't offer either type of Vista Home in a X64 version, the answer is quite simply, no.

Smart sizing RDP file on Windows 7 Home Basic

Hello there, on my Windows 7 home basic computer I don't have the option to chooze smart-sizing of my RDP files!
Is there any way to solve this by for example changing settings somewhere?
I am fairly untechincal, but I know that I will need to do smart-sizing to continue with my work!
If it matters, I download RDP files from Windows Azure and run them on my computer, and those are the ones that I wish to smart size!

Storage Link and Window Vista Home Basic

Can someone tell me if the follwoing is true so I won't waste time searching. Since Window Vista Home Basic is not networkable so it won't see the storage link device connected to the WRT610N router. If so, is there anyway to get it work?

If you want to make the itunes tab so you can see the dock
you press the
esc
button if your in full screen mode
if you want to get into full screen mode you press the arrows facing away from eachother in the top right corner
there is another way to get to the normal tab if your in full screen
make the curser go right up to the top of the screen and it will show the apple tab
it will have two arrows facing together highlited in blue
if u tap that it will take you to the normal tab

Is there a way to change the Windows Update service startup type on Windows Server 2012 R2?

We have a number of newly built 2012 R2 servers that we have HP Operations Manager agent running on that monitors the status of several services and reports if they are "stopped". One of these services is Windows Update. Every day we
get at least one alert saying:
"Service "Windows Update" is not started. Current state is stopped"
Checking the event logs shows that the Windows Update service stops, then a while later it just starts again. Not an error, just an information event.
In Windows 2012 R2 the Windows Update service is set to "Automatic (Trigger Start)", where in previous versions we run (2012/2008R2) it would be set to just "Automatic" or "Automatic (Delayed Start)"
I have come to understand that this behaviour is normal for Windows 2012 R2, and that Trigger Start services by design stop themselves after a period of inactivity. I was unable to find any info on how this works. Our client would like this to
be changed and the Windows Update service stay running all the time, understanding that this impacts performance.
Is there a way to change the Windows Update service in Server 2012 R2 to the old Automatic startup behaviour so that it stays running all the time instead of stopping and starting periodicall? There is no option to do this via the services mmc
gui.
So far I have tried:
Removing the Triggers using the command: sc triggerinfo wuauserv delete
This works temporarily, the service then shows as just Automatic in the services console, however if you restart the server or restart the service it goes right back to being Automatic (Trigger Start).
Any kind of help would be appreciated.

How do I get drivers for Windows Vista Home basic edition to work with Windows vista on my mac. Can't connect to internet on vista.

for the obvious:
After the Vista installation, did you install the Apple drivers from the OSX Leopard Installation DVD ?
If not, boot into Vista and insert the OSX Installation DVD that came with your iMac.
The Driver Setup usually starts automatically.
All drivers needed are on that DVD.

I understand since updating to Win8 you don't have the "no scaling" option available.
Did you uninstall and reinstall the printer after doing the Windows upgrade?

You should be able to install and run AI8 in Windows 7 professional (and 8,1 for that matter).
You will probably need to run the computer in XP mode to install. Here is how:
Install and use Windows XP Mode in Windows 7
To run AI8, you should be able to just run the computer normally and to specify that AI8 is to run in (XP) Compatibility maode, as follows:
1) RightClick the shortcut;
2) Click Properties;
3) Click Compatibility;
4) Tick Run this program in Compatibility mode for, then select XP in the dropdown list;
5) Start AI9.
Otherwise, search for Compatibility in the Windows Help and follow the instructions there.
