since changing to windows 8, I no longer get the options of "no scaling", my paper patterns are printing too small. they printed great before computer change and change to windows 8. no longer have the option of "no scaling". Where can I go to choose that option

I understand since updating to Win8 you don't have the "no scaling" option available.
Did you uninstall and reinstall the printer after doing the Windows upgrade?

The iOS settings for the iPhone 3 never had an option to determine how long you wanted to save messages. That settings is new to iOS8. As far as some being deleted, there is nothing about the phone that should delete messages without some user intervention. Try a reset on the phone, this will not affect your data. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot.

No longer have the option to boot to Windows

I recently made a new partition from OSX and since then, it wont give me the option to boot in Windows, only Mac. I can access all of the files in the bootcamp partition though. Running 10.6.8 on a 15" Pro. Anyone know whats wrong?

A later done partitioning to add additional partitions to a harddisk alters the position of the BootCamp partition in the partition table so that the Windows Bootloader can not 'find' the Windows partition.
With Windows XP it helped to simply edit the Boot.Ini file and point it to the WIndows partition.
With Vista and Windows 7 there no longer is a boot.ini but EasyBCD http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1 can do the same.

Since upgrading to Firefox V5 I do not have the option to manage bookmarks e.g. import and export html

Since upgrading to the latest Firefox when I click on the bookmarks tab the option to manage my bookmarks is not available. Can this be repaired or will I have to do a new install of Firefox. If so will the new install automatically keep my current bookmarks or will I lose them. I cannot back them up because it is not giving me the option to export html.

Turn off updating to keep your good working version or you will be forced to use the new version that is missing some well used features.

I no longer have the option under 'File' on the main menu to open a new window.

In the past(recent past) I was able to open a new window of Firefox by licking on File then there was an option to open a new window(session) of Firefox. At some point which I am unsure of that option is no longer there. Does anyone know why or how I can correct or fix it?

If you do not see the menu bar with the File menu then see [[Menu bar is missing]]
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

You can also try "Reset toolbars and controls" on the [[Safe mode]] start window

I use web mail from lotus notes and need Firefox to connect with my MacBook Pro. Since updating to version four I no longer have the ability to see or open attachements. What I am doing wrong?

I updated my MacBook Pro with version 4 yesterday. I access my company's lotus notes with this browser. I can access the web site, but cannot open attachments. The message I received is that I have removed the attachment. I haven't. The text that states the name of the attachment is there. I can click on it but it won't open and there is nothing in the attachment box in Web Mail.

HP Photosmart Plus 209a-m install for Windows 8 not working, driver problem?

I am trying to install the driver/software for HP Photosmart Plus 209a-m on my Windows 8 laptop and keep getting "the Wizard has detected a problem with the driver software for the selected printer". Seems like a catch-22 because that's why i'm trying to install it. I have a brand new hard drive (as of today) with nothing else on it except Norton, which i just installed. I shouldn't have corrupted drivers yet. if it's missing, why can't HP get it installed? I've downloaded hppiw and trying to install that. after i get the "problem with the driver" message, i select the option to install the full suite + driver, and it attempts another download (why is it doing that when i already downloaded the software?), then fails with "Your download was cancelled. You can attempt the download again by clicking Retry". Anybody know how to get me out of this loop and get the software installed?

sometimes norton does block the installation or the drivers download...
i would suggest you to turn of norton and complete the installation and then turn it back on..

Problem accessing smb share since change to Windows 8

Hy,
I have a smb share folder on my router (I connect a pen and is shared in the network), with no password.
I am able to access from Windows 7 and Linux, but not from Windows 8.
The reported error is:
The device or resource (SERVER) is not set up to accept connections on port "The File and printer sharing (SMB)".
Which is obviously wrong, since I can access it from other OS.
How can I solve this or get more information on the underlying issue.
I've read several threads in here about similar problems, but nothing worked in my case (services are running, smb-cifs is active and there's no error about IPRStackSize and I turned off firewall and antivirus).

is your network public or private? in order to access shares you need to be on a private network in windows 8.

B209a when I scan a document into my computer I only have the option of sending it into my pictures, I cannot send it to documents or to Adobe reader. As this is not something I need very often but once in awhile I need to convert a document into PDF format but now I cannot do that and I do not want to pay for Adobe reader in order to covert into PDF.
I used to be able to scan and send it in Email but now I cannot even do that even if I save it as a file.
Any suggestions please. My computer is pavilion Elite HPE 150f using IE8 windows 7 64 bit purchased last April.

I had a nasty problem a week or so ago (nothing to do with your issue). I decided to reset the iPad back to factory level. I then restored it using a backup that I had made before the problem. Turns out that I did not need to do that but,......finally getting to the point , I started with 7.2 GB free and wound up with 8.4 GB free. I did not lose anything and I have no clue what caused me to recover that space. In any event, I am babbling on about this in case it might be of help to you.
Oh, I do know some apps cache stuff, but very few allow you to clear that cache.

Windows 7 upgrade: discs will include the option for a 32 to 64-bit upgrade via a clean install?

I would like to know whether the Lenovo Windows 7 upgrade discs will include the option for a 32 to 64-bit upgrade via a clean install? I called Mentor today and was told the answer is no, but I was hoping someone here could tell me differently.
If "no" is truly the answer, I would like to voice my complaint: The upgrade discs from Microsoft (i.e. the retail upgrade discs) include both the 32 and 64-bit versions, so I don't completely understand why Lenovo's upgrade program doesn't offer the same thing. I purchased my T500 in August, and back then Vista Ultimate 64 was not offered, so I chose Vista Ultimate 32 thinking that I could later upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate 64. This assumption was based off of the info. on Microsoft's website indicating that all upgrades would contain the 32 and 64-bit versions. I even customized my computer with 4 gigs of RAM thinking that I could take advantage of the extra gig once I installed Windows 7 64.
I don't understand what Lenovo or Mentor Media have to gain by restricting a 32 to 64-bit install. I voiced this opinion to Mentor Media over the phone, who responded by saying that I should be happy since I am receiving a "free" upgrade. I don't think this is an accurate assessment for two reasons: (1) I had to pay $17.03 for shipping, and I still haven't received the upgrade and (2) The total cost of my computer was almost $3,000, and the purchase was made a mere few weeks before Windows 7 was released. $3,000 is a lot of money. I waited for the details of the Windows 7 Upgrade Program to be announced BEFORE purchasing my machine. When I finally bought my computer I accounted Windows 7 into the price I was paying. In addition, when I bought this computer I did so expecting good customer service as a given. Not providing a 64-bit upgrade without a rational explanation as to why does not qualify as appropriate customer service.
As most of you know, 4 gigs of RAM is useless with a 32-bit OS. Also, NOW Lenovo is building new T500s with the option of having Windows 7 Ultimate 64 (why wasn't Vista Ultimate 64 offered when I bought my computer???).  And the price for choosing Windows 7 Ultimate 32 is EQUAL to the price for choosing Windows 7 Ultimate 64, which proves that there is no cost difference. I just want to know what Lenovo has to gain by denying customers a 64-bit upgrade? There would really be no additional cost since as I mentioned before, Microsoft's retail upgrade includes the 32 and 64-bit OS on one disc. If anything I would think that it's costing Lenovo money to strip the 64-bit install from the upgrade discs.
Can anyone please address my problems? Do you think there is anyone at Lenovo I could contact to voice my opinions? I have been a loyal Thinkpad customer for over 5 years now, and I expect better from Lenovo. Thank you for reading!

if your system shipped with a 32-bit version of vista then you will be sent 32-bit windows 7 upgrade media.   the reason for this is two-fold.
first, because this is upgrade media, it's impossible to install a 64-bit version of windows over a 32-bit version.   doing so would require a clean installation and upgrade media simply won't allow this.   this is the case with retail media, too.   if you had 32-bit vista installed and wanted to upgrade it to 64-bit using retail media, you'd have to wipe your system or set up a dual-boot.
second, the COA (certificate of authenticity) on the bottom of your system is for vista.   because of this, your new license is of an upgrade from vista to 7.   this is how microsoft licenses it and it is their policy, not lenovo's.   microsoft's policy with OEMs is that you must install vista first, then upgrade to 7 (unless, of course, you purchased your system native with 7 on or after the 22nd).   since your original lenovo preload is of a 32-bit OS, the issue becomes circular and you'll have to refer again to the first reason.
i understand your frustration and wish this stuff were made easier for everyone.   it's repetative reading post after post of people with 4GB installed who don't understand the limitations of a 32-bit environment. i wish both manufacturers and users switched to 64-bit OSes sooner. the same thing happened when the industry went from 16-bit windows 3.11 to 32-bit windows NT4/95 and limitations went from 16KB all the way up to 4GB (which, in 1995, no one thought we'd ever exceed).   the difference is that people were complaining on BBSes over 14.4k modems instead of on GUI-based forums using broadband connections.   times sure have changed.

Instead of removing the music from the cloud or the iTunes library why not shuffle your music using a Smart Playlist which excludes the holiday music, or tracks that are not checked. For example, use this very simple Smart Playlist:
