Changing camera settings

Hi experts
For my special application I want to change some camera
specific settings for example exposure time, gain and also some
video settings like contrast, brightness and ... I want to use
flash media server and flash media encoder, but I don't know how I
can change the settings mentioned ( I know that the above can be
easily controlled via DirectShow, but I don't like to use it). I
have spent lot of time for finding the answer but find almost
nothing. May you please help me? Even if changing camera settings
via FMS and FME is not possible, may you please tell me how to
change them via another program and still capturing via FMS and
FME?
Thank you
H.P.I

Pardon the pun, but there's something wrong with this picture.
Photos from iPhone 4s, as was said by others, should have more than sufficient resolution for a simple printed album, if you're using the rear camera and you're importing them at full resolution into iPhoto. Is that what you're doing?
What size are the photos in the album - no double-page spreads?
When you check the problem photos in iPhoto, what does it say about it's resolution, file size?

  • How to change Camera settings while NetStream is published with H264 codec

    Hi,
    when I'm using H264 codec I can't modify my cam.setMode(w,h, fps) because my stream hangs (second call to cam.setMode() uhangs video. When I'm using Sorenson codec that same code works fine.
    So my question is how can I change Camera settings when I'm publishing images from this camera with NetStream encoded with H264. I'm using Flash Player 11,3,300,270 Windows 7 64 bit ActiveX.

    Try to unpublish/pause publishing just before setting the things on camera and resume/publish again after the settings are applied.

  • Trouble changing Camera RAW settings in Javascript (worked in CS5, but not CS6)

    I just upgraded to Master Collection CS6 from Production Premium CS5, and CameraRAWOpenOptions settings in scripts that I had working in Photoshop CS5 (64-bit) using Extendscript CS5 are no longer working with Photoshop CS6.  I get no error messages, but the settings I specify in the scripts (for example, CameraRAWOpenOptions.exposure=2.00) do not take effect when the image is opened.  Other Photoshop properties and actions within my script are working correctly.
    Note that this is an issue in Photoshop CS6.  I can use Extendscript CS5 or CS6, and the result is the same.
    Here is the way I am changing the settings in my script:
    var RawOptions = new CameraRAWOpenOptions;
    //RawOptions.settings=CameraRAWSettingsType.CUSTOM;
    //RawOptions.settings=CameraRAWSettingsType.SELECTEDIMAGE;
    RawOptions.settings=CameraRAWSettingsType.CAMERA;
    RawOptions.exposure=+2.00;
    RawOptions.vignettingAmount = 0;
    RawOptions.vignettingMidpoint = 0;
    RawOptions.contrast = 50;
    RawOptions.saturation = 0;
    RawOptions.shadows = 0;
    RawOptions.luminanceSmoothing = 0;
    var JPGopts = new JPEGSaveOptions;
    JPGopts.quality = JPEGquality;
    //Perform the loop through the files
    app.open(testListing[0], RawOptions, false);
    app.activeDocument.close(SaveOptions.DONOTSAVECHANGES);
    for (var nfile = nstart; nfile < nstop; nfile++)
        app.open(testListing[nfile], RawOptions, false);
        FnameSave = new File(SavePath+"/"+testListing[nfile].name);
        app.activeDocument.saveAs(FnameSave, JPGopts, false, Extension.UPPERCASE);
        app.activeDocument.close(SaveOptions.DONOTSAVECHANGES);

    I found a few of them actually work.
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.tint=0; // works (-150 to 150)
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.temperature=5500; // works (2000 to 50000)
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.luminanceSmoothing = 0; // works 0 to 100
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.saturation=50; // works =100 to 100
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.vignettingAmount=0; //works -100 to 100
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.vignettingMidpoint=0; //works -100 to 100
    These ones do not work:
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.brightness=0; // does not work (0 to 150)
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.contrast=0; // does not work (-50 to 100)
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.exposure = 0; // does not work (-4.0 to +4.0)
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.shadows=0; // (0 to 100) does not work
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.whiteBalance=WhiteBalanceType.SHADE; // does not work
    I noticed that, doing File-->File Info--> "Advanced" tab-->expand "Camera Raw Properties" that the ones that do not work have mostly either been removed (brightness) or had "2012" added to their names in the XMP in the conversion from CS5 to CS6.
    It appears the mapping from Javascript objects/properties to how Photoshop knows them is broken with the new version.  Is there any way to fix this?
    Is there an alternate way to do this by going through XMP?
    Unfortunately, I'm wanting to use "exposure", which is one of the ones that is broken.  My main script sets a custom exposure for each image (trying to smooth out EV jumps between successive images in a sunset time lapse).

    I want to change the settings (brightness, contrast, gamma) for my internal cam on Macbook pro. I find having to but a third party software (iglasses, webcam settings) to control basic settings as unnecessary and exploitative. Does anyone have a solution?

    It is not about payment of $19.95 (Igalsses) or $7.99(webcam settings). This is a very basic setting that should be available in the system settings. The automatic setting of the internal cam does not work great on low lighting as everyone is aware.
    i am just amazed how users take in lying down and suggest solutions such as paying for a 3rd party paid app or improving the lighting in your room.

  • Is there any way to change the settings for the built in isight camera?

    I'm sure someone else has probably already asked this, but is there any way to change the settings for the built in isight camera? The resolution is horrible.

    Welcome to  Discussions, Prissymissysays
    The last Apple-published resolution data I saw said that iSight's resolution is 640x480 VGA. I do not know of any way to change iSight's resolution, but that level is plenty of quality for my webcam needs.
    The software you use to operate your iSight controls it, so specific answers will depend on what software you are using when you need more resolution. Check Help in that application to see if it can change iSight's resolution.
    Some software, such as Apple's QuickTime 7 Pro allow you to change iSight's video quality and compression level with its QuickTime Player > Preferences > Recording > Quality: setting. You can add iGlasses software to manually override some iSight settings that are otherwise controlled automatically by the software using iSight. However, I do not think either of these options really changes iSight's resolution.
    Check whether your iSight's lens cover has fingerprints or smudges on it. Then check iSight's image quality of your face in full sunlight about two feet from the lens. Best image quality requires more light than what most people would consider normal room lighting.
    If you are still having problems, consider the applicable suggestions from How to Troubleshoot iSight.
    If you need better resolution than iSight can deliver for some special imaging requirement such as close-up or high-accuracy images, you may need to consider using a different camera that better meets your special needs.

  • How to change sequence settings without CC 7.1 update?

    Well, i was hoping that Adobe will release 7.1 update on October 15th, as promised on some websites. I don't recall, maybe it was Creative COW or any other.
    That's why i have created 720p PRORES proxies for 9x multi-camera live performance shoot which lasts for 2 hours for lag free, fast editing.
    I have sucessfully edited it and promised my clients that on October 16th they will get the whole show in 1080p, high quality.
    So, there is no update yet, and yes, i can relink files to original 1080p, but the multicam sequence is capped to 720p and i simply can't find a way to change it's size.
    The old fashion copy/paste way from one sequence to another does not work, since 720p sequence is linked to multicam edits. In CS6 i could edit ".prproj" file in text editor to change any properties (including sequence properties), but right now in CC, .prproj file contains binary data only, so i can't do it that way either.
    Maybe someone knows any other way to change sequence settings right now, or what is the exact day for 7.1 release?
    Thank you!

    Hi Paolon!
    You need to extract your .prproj using WinRAR to a text .prproj file, then use some text editor such as Notepad to search and replace sequence dimensions
    For example find "1920" and replace it to "1280" if it looks like Īt belongs to a sequence definition.
    I don't recall how it was called, maybe "VideoFrameRect" or something similar.
    First create some very simple project to experiment with, and always make a backup copy in case something goes wrong

  • "Unkown Error (-50)" when trying to change iPod settings via iTunes

    Hello everyone.
    I got an 5.5 iPod Video (30gb) for christmas and I can't update the name of the Ipod nor change the settings for music, TV shows, movies, podcasts, pictures or even reset it!
    I can however sync music, tv shows, movies and pocasts (not pictures).
    So I called Apple the other day and told them about my problem. The guy I was talking to told me that the only option avaible was to send the iPod to Apple and have them repair it. And so I did. It came back today with 1.2 update installed, instead of 1.2.1 which I used before I had the iPod sent for repair. The enclosed papers said that they (Apple) could not find any problems on the iPod itself and it's batterys and that "it met Apples specifications for acceptable performance, usablity and/or functionality."
    Yeah well... It doesnt. I'm using a PC with Windows XP, Service Pack 2 and I have USB 2.0. I have the latest version of iTunes and I had the latest firmwire update for my Ipod (1.2.1) and it didn't work.
    When I first plugged the iPod in today when it had version 1.2 installed it worked, but the next time I plugged it in.. well, it didnt work. So right now I'm using 1.2.
    I've tried re-installing iTunes and restoring the iPod via both iTunes and on the iPod itself. Nothing works. Can someone here help me out?
    Btw. I'm using an iPod dock.

    Edit: I am able to change settings WHILE my library is beeing synced...

  • T530 Lenovo Integrated Camera not working, Lenovo Camera Settings does not Display

    Hello, I have a new T530 with Windows 8 OS. I am having trouble using the integrated camera. It functions neither in the Windows camera app nor in Skype. In both cases I get a picture with a gray background and a camera with a line through it. In Device manager, the camera does appear, is enabled, and the drivers are up to date.
    After looking through other threads, I tried checking whether the camera was plugged in and indeed it was. When using Skype and I set the camera to on (Skype did detect the camera), I still got the gray no camera image, but the green light on the camera itself turned on.
    I also tried using Fn+F6 to check settings. Lenovo settings opens, but the when I click the camera settings Icon, the screen loads a blank page that says "Camera" in the top right and has a back button (left pointing arrow) in the top left hand corner. The back button does not seem to work and I must change the window to something else in order to exit/close settings.
    I tried manually installing both camera drivers and "power management" ("energy management"?) drivers. Neither of this solved either of these issues.
    Please help me to resolve this problem. Thank you.

    Hi, euterpenc
    I would make sure that the BIOS is up to date in the system. The current BIOS for your system is 2.07 and can be found here. Also, I would ensure that the chipset drivers are up to date, and those can be found here.
    Hope it helps, and let me know how it goes

  • RAW Native Camera Settings for Nikon - do they convert?

    Question on RAW processing in Lightroom. Can Lightroom show ALL of the the in-camera settings (WB, saturation, etc.) selected when the shot was taken? I prefer not to have to re-cook the RAW photos from scratch on every picture. Nikon NX2 provides this option (i.e. the RAW and JPEG can look identical as starting points on your screen) which I find helpful versus dealing with uncooked RAW images to start with each time. I am considering Lightroom for lots of other good reasons but this is a threshold issue for me due to time, etc.
    Would love to hear anyone's experience on this. I use a Nikon D80.
    Thanks much.
    Gary

    Robert,
    Specific camera settings,etc, are in fact stored in Nikon Nefs and can be read by NX2--or changed, if one wishes in NX2, but nowhere else, as has been stated.
    Eric,
    Presets, or profiles, may come close in some instances to reasonably good starting points for NEFs in LR2, so if that is all you need or use NX2 for, then your advice is reasonable.
    However, at this point in time, NX2 has some distinct advantages, most notably much more advanced and faster local corrections tools than LR2 and soft proofing, to name two.
    However, LR2 editing is integrated with a catalog database, and NX2 is browser based, and that may make LR2 worth the tradeoff for some users. Both, of course, offer non destructive editing.
    Each has it strengths and weaknesses, so I use both to take advantage of the unique tools each offers.

  • Advice on Nikon D200 Camera Settings

    I have a Nikon D200 and I was wondering what camera settings would be more beneficial for me with working in Lightroom with RAW (DNG) files? The settings I am referring to are: Sharpening, Tone Compensation, Saturation, etc. Is it better to adjust these in the camera or in the post processing of the images in Lightroom.
    Also, a DNG question: I will be converting all of my NEF files to DNG, should I just leave RAW compression off in the camera or turn it on???
    Thank you in advance.

    So, in essence, it is the generated JPG from the RAW file that looks like crap when the tone compensation, sharpening, saturation, etc are all set to none in the D200??? I notice a big difference with the thumbnail view, I wasn't sure if it effected the actual RAW file. It seems to me though that I have noticed from time to time that some of my images do not need sharpening (since my camera settings are on 2+ sharpening), however, when I increase the sharpening in Lightroom I begin to see the halo effect due to the increase sharpening. With that being said, I set my camera sharpening back to normal and I will have to try it and see what I get (I have not shot the camera since the change).

  • Can i change import settings in iphoto?

    I have noticed that when I import photos from my camera into iPhoto, it reduces the file size from 16M (on my camera settings) to 3-4M in iPhoto? I went into Preferences, but I don't see anyway to change it except for RAW settings. Any way around it? Or am I not understanding something? Thanks.

    1 - no need to shoot RAW + JPEG since iPhoto creates a JPEG preview of every RAW imported - shooting both wastes SD card space, Mac disk space and gives you duplicates in iPhhoto
    2 - if you what greater control in editing including shanging the white point then shoor RAW - anbd yes RAW images take more space that JPEGs - they have more capability - if you are going to use tha tcapability then shoot RAW - if not then shoot JPEG - for cropping there is no difference between them

  • Aperture not showing camera settings applied on RAW images

    I have the Canon EOS 1D Mark II N. When in-camera settings like contrast, sharpening, etc are applied in camera, then those images are loaded directly from card reader into Aperture the in-camera changes are not applied to the Raw images. The Jpeg images DO show the in-camera settings contrast/sharpening etc being applied. I can take the memory card and load those same images into DPP Digital Photo Professional and the settings applied in camera do show on the BOTH Raw and Jpeg files.
    In Aperture when I look at the thumbnails of the RAWs and JPEGs side by side. It is obvious which ones are the jpegs just by the contrast added in camera.
    I can Also take the images within Aperture-export masters to desktop, then open them in DPP and the contrast/sharpening shows on the raws and jpegs the same in DPP.. It seems to be just Aperture..
    Is this Normal? That Aperture does not read the in-camera changes on the Raw files? On the Metadata EXIF Expanded, It does read the exposure Bias, shutter speed etc correctly on the Raws, just not the Contrast or sharpening changes.

    Hi Kathy,
    This is expected. Settings you make in the camera, for things like color space, sharpening, white balance, etc. don't really apply to RAW images. This is the way the camera and RAW software are designed -- the RAW is really untouched, and this information is tagged along as "meta information." No actual transformation on the image is performed.
    You take the RAW image into a RAW converter (Aperture's a good one and make the changes you want. In some cases (White Balance) the tagged info is used, but in others (sharpening, color space) it's not. Aperture uses the widest possible color space (it's wider than ProPhoto RGB from what I've been told, though I haven't used my handy gamut checker to verify
    So this contrasts with JPEGs. JPEG is a "final" format -- so the settings you have configured in your camera are actually used in the creation of the JPEG. It is sharpened, color balanced based on your settings, fit into a color space (sRGB, Adobe RGB, etc.) compressed, and written as a JPEG. You can't take these things "back" once that has been done.
    Aperture actually makes working with both types of images so similar that it's difficult to really notice the differences. If you work with a more labor-intensive workflow like Adobe Camera RAW, you'll notice all the extra steps you must employ to get from RAW to JPEG.

    Is there a way to change the settings of the build in camera? For example the white balance? No matter what the lighting is, faces always look too redish (in Skype, Photo Booth, etc).

    Hey.
    I found out that all the camera settings is not saved. For exampel i always want the grid displayed but then i have to turn it on manuelly every time. Same goes for the timer, id like it to be on 2sec so the picture not is taken as you push the button (shaky etc).
    Probably more camera settings that not saved havent checked it all.

    OK first of all look at this, 333 people viewed your original post and followed by 171, 144 and the last one that you responded 55 people viewed and yet your the only one with this problem lol
    Here is the thing, I'm sure nokia had a damn good reason for not letting the grid option be set as default, and if you can't press two buttons to get to it, well that's your own fault for being lazy lol all these people viewed your post and not even one decided to say something, that's probably because no one really have a problem with what your complaining about and I don't count that new user since all her said was "No reply from Nokia on this???" hehe
    anyways if nokia makes any changes in their camera setting and give us more options, well GREAT, but right now most people are happy with their N8 camera and its setting. Their are much more important issues regarding Nokia N8 and you picked the least important one lol way to go.
    Don't forget that you  can't compare the N8 with a digital camera, just because you can do things differently on a digital camera doesn't mean you suppose to do it on a camera phone. In my opinion the N8's setting is damn good, could get better and if nokia does something about it Great but I can do what I wanna do with the setting. So please try not to bring up any little problem you thing it has or you thing needs to be changed because I really don't think what you calling a problem is a problem
