Changing default name in screen sharing

I've been trying to find out how to change the default name which pops up in screen sharing when I use finder to remotely log in to my mac mini.  Basically, I want the login to be automatic, without having to mess with user accounts on either computer.

When using Tracks and Development Components changes are "categorized" under an Activity. The "categorized" is my term.
Basically, when you try to change some code that's been checked in you are asked to specify what Activity you want the change(s) should go under.
If you click the button to create a new Activity a "New Activity" Dialog pops up. One of the fields in that dialog is called "Display Name"
The default value of that field is "[not yet defined]".
What I'm wondering is if there is somewhere in the preferences or some config files where I can change that default value to something else.

  • Changing default name of FDF file created by submit button

    Hi all,
I was wondering if there was a way to change the default file name used by acrobat when the submit button is clicked. Currently, when a user clicks the submit button on my form, acrobat allows them to generate an FDF file and either save it to their hard drive or attach it to an email, but uses the file name "<name of pdf form>.fdf" I would like to change this to a unique ID that is generated based on form data. I didn't have any problems generating the UID, but I can't figure out how to change the name of the FDF file.
Does anyone know if this is possible?
    Thanks.
    Jose

Do you sign the document before extending the features? If you do then make sure "Lock the Document after signing" checkbox is not checked. Try this:
    Clear all signature fields.
Click on the field that you want to sign
    "Sign Document" window will appear
In the left bottom corner this check box will appear.
    Uncheck it.

For some reason, the default name and address that comes up when I try and edit Mail, Contacts,& Calendars under system preferences is different the one I originally set up.  When I try and edit, it seems like I have succeeded, but if I come back into system preferences, the changes have not been remembered.  Any suggestions?

  • CHANGE DEFAULT NAME/SECURITY SETTINGS = LOWER CONNECTION SPEED

I have a Linksys WirelessN Router--If I use the router with all of the default settings I can achieve cable speeds of 300mbps. Fantasically fast!!! As soon as I change the name of the router from "Linksys" to any other name, my speed drops back down to 54mbps. I also changed the security settings to "PSK Personal" and added a personal password so my system wouldn't get "hyjacked." Any thoughts?

Hi… logon to router’s setup page, try changing Radio band to wide 40MHz, wide channel to 9, standard channel to 11, go to advanced wireless settings reduce beacon interval to 50, fragmentation and RTS threshold to 2304, change N Transmission rate to 270MBps…wireless security should be PSK personal, also try upgrading latest firmware on router, check whether it makes any difference or not.

  • CrystalReport into Business Objects - Change default name when saving

    Hello everyone,
i'm asking a question here because I don't know anywhere else people who have sufficient skill to answer.
I hope the thread is posted in the right section, if not, sorry and please move it where it belongs.
I'll try to simply explain my problem.
I have Business Objects XI 3.1 enterprise and i use InfoView to open a CrystalReport report.
When I export it, (the extension does not matter) the location window opens and the default name is CrystalReportViewer.xxx .
What I need is to not show to the customer the default name but the name of the report itself.
    Anyone has an idea?
    Thank you a lot!
    Cric

We have a similar request for our companies deployment. Unfortunately I found that this is normal behavior for the application and that an enhancement request has already been opened (ADAPT01550068).
SAP note 1491438 can provide you with additional information. Hope this helps.

  • Does any one know how to change how to set screen sharing in mavericks 10.9 to observe mode as default.

In ML 10.8 there was a choice and default could be set. Thanks.

Unless you backed up your data somewhere, it's gone.
There are programs like Disk Drill Pro that may find a few recoverable files, but after doing a clean install it's doubtful that much of the data could be recovered in any useful format. And the more you use your computer, the more data is overwritten.

  • How can I change the name of a shared folder/hard drive hooked up to my airport extreme?

    Hello,
I was curious if anybody here may know the answer to the problem I'm facing. It seems like such an easy task, but I just can't figure it out.
I have an airport extreme a1143 hooked up to my network directly to my router via Ethernet. I have a USB Ext. HD connected to AEBS. When I click on the Airport Extreme in "Shared" under Finder on my Mac, it pulls up a little folder with people on it (meaning it's shared). It is my Ext. HD, but it's called "NO NAME".
As silly as it sounds, like it to be called something other than, "NO NAME". Does anyone know how I can change this?
    Thank you,
    Mike

Eject the drive, if is mounted on your desktop
Temporarily,  connect the drive directly to your Mac, and wait for it to mount on the desktop
Click slowly on the name of the drive, and you will be able to edit the name of the drive
Eject the drive and connect it back to the AirPort Extreme

  • Changing default name from one register to another register

I have a Z22 my husband gave me years ago.  His name is the default owner name one the unit.  When I try to sync the Z22 always ask me to make a new user and defaults to him.  How do I change this?
    Post relates to: Palm Z22

If you want to keep all the data on the Z22, you can change the hotsync username in the Z22.  Create your username in Palm Desktop and sync to that name.
Click on the following link to the kb.hpwebos.com webpage for the article regarding How do I change or delete the user name on my handheld?
    http://kb.hpwebos.com/wps/portal/kb2/common/article/33416
Another option would be to hard reset the HH. The hard reset will erase all data on the device.
Click on the following link to the kb.hpwebos.com webpage for the article regarding reset procedures
    http://kb.hpwebos.com/wps/portal/kb2/common/article/887_en.html
Create your username in PD then sync to that username. If you want the data from the other username, create your new username, export the data from the old username then import into the new username.
The best way to preserve your data is to export the data in each category in Palm Desktop to a separate folder on your PC.
Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that is convenient. Name it something like Palm Desktop Data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on that page for the export procedure.
    http://kb.hpwebos.com/wps/portal/kb2/common/article/28734_en.html
Make sure you select all for the range in the export window.
With the data saved in the folder you created, make a copy of that folder and save to a flash drive, cd-rw or external hard drive.
Anytime you make a change in Palm Desktop, export the data that was changed to that folder and save again to the external media.
With this process you can always import the data back into Palm Desktop anytime you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop or if your computer/hard drive/device crashes.
For reference purposes, click on the following link for the support page for your device on the kb.hpwebos.com webpage.

  • Change default name when connecting to server

    Hi all,
I just got a new work computer with OS 10.5. I've noticed a minor nuisance. Since the IT guy set up the computer, he was the first person to connect to our shared servers. Now whenever I try to connect to the same server, it always defaults to his network username. Is there any way to change this so that it defaults to mine?
Let me know if you need any other information.
    Thanks.
    Chris

Bring up Applications>Utilities>KeychainAccess, under Keychains in the left column click 'login'. Under Category in the lower left column click 'All Items'. You should be able to see the unwanted key in the listing in the right column ('Kind'is 'Internet Password'). Control-click it and delete.

  • Saving Pictures-Changing Default Name

My friend and I both have Curves. She has ATT and I have Verizon. When she takes a picture, her phone will automatically name it using the time and date (i.e. "0401081101.jpg for April 4, 2008, 11:01AM). My saves in a sequential series (i.e. IMG00089.jpg for the 89th picture I've taken). I can manually rename pics, but what I really want is for it to default and save automatically with the time/date stamp.

Ya, see it the same way.
But I have been argued, that there had been listener-bugs and if os auth is
exploited, it would be good to have password security in addition.
Hummm, local OS-auth as implemented  bypasses the password anyway.
I showed it to the auditor, that with a password in place, you can
shut down the listener without a password as a dba-member...
    "Please do it anyway..."
BTW, I do not have a system to play with available right now.
    Maybe someone can test...
Is it still that you can start a LISTENER with default values, if
no listener with name LISTENER is configured ?
I mind to remember it was that way in 8.something.
I reconfigured LISTENER to LISTENER_DEV and
    lsnrctl start
fired up a listener LISTENER on port 1521 without LISTENER being configured.
But don't know if it is still that way in 10.2.

  • Screen Sharing does not accept my password anymore

    Hi
I have a headless Mac Mini Server running Snow Leopard Server 10.6.8 and a MacBook Pro  running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I detected this morning, that I'm not able to connect from the MacBook Pro to my Mac Mini over Screen Sharing. All other services, mail server, iCal server, Address Book server, file sharing over SMB or AFP even connecting over VNC do work.
    - I select the Mac Mini symbol in Finder
    - in column view, I select Share Screen...
    - in the connection dialog, I add the password (username is already predefined)
    - on connect, I get: Authentication failed to "servername". Please verify you have entered the correct name and password.
I use the same username and password with Server Admin, or logging in locally over VNC so I know this is correct.I'm sure I did not change any settings concerning screen sharing (I did some experiments with WebDAV recently)
I'm not sure, when I used Screen Sharing the last time, is there a log on the server for this? Could be, the problem was introduced with 10.6.8, but I'm not sure. From the logs I see, Screen Sharing did work on July, 16th. This would narrow it down to: iTunes 10.4 (not likely), Migration Assistant Update for Mac OS X SL 1.0, and Remote Desktop Client Update 3.5.1.
On the server, I found the following log entries: Jul 21 20:24:33 servername AppleVNCServer[1362]: no such user: user@LKDC:SHA1.xxxxxx: 2
    Any help on this problem?

Sorry if that didn't come out right. I should have taken the time to get the correct labels off of the user preferences dialogue and it would have made more sense.
When you create a new user, there are two fields: one for "Full Name" (typically the user's actual name) and another for "Account name" (this usually a more Unix-like user-id). On my system, typing "John Doe" into the Full Name box automatically populates "johndoe" into the Account Name box. I would guess the majority of Mac users will leave that default in there, type in a password and hint and complete creating the account.
Interestingly, you cannot view the Account name in the user preferences dialogue once the account is created. However, the Account name is used as the name of your Home folder.
In the past, I've used that Account name when connecting to shares in finder. I just verified that when you open finder and click "Connect As" and choose "Registered User," the authentication prompt in SL automatically has the Account name in the user field. Once connected in finder, all I had to do is click Screen Sharing and it would just open up. Presumably since I had already authenticated via finder. After the last updates, I started getting a password prompt only when attempting to start screen sharing. Finder still worked the same as before, and I was able to view all my folders. Using the Full Name instead of the Account name got me through the second password prompt and opened the screen sharing session.
I tried authenticating the finder with the Full Name instead, and still got the second authentication prompt when launching screen sharing. Clearly Apple has made a change to screen sharing that no longer passes through your finder authentication.
If you've somehow already been using the Full Name, and not the Account name, to authenticate in finder, this fix doesn't help you.
What I meant by "feeling stupid" is going to great lengths to step through a lot of troublesome reboots and whatnot, only to discover that the problem is an arcane, and apparently pointless change with which user name on the account authenticates for two apparently related features (you do go through finder to get to screen sharing!). I certainly didn't mean you were stupid. I wouldn't blame you for having to figure out something Apple changed up after years for no apparent reason. I wasn't real happy about it either after wasting an hour or so figuring it out. My poor choice of words was really meant in the spirit of that "d'oh!" moment when you find the trivial 5 second fix after spending that hour (or days) doing lots of potentially risky stuff to no avail.

  • Screen Sharing Observe Quality

I found on a few web site a handy tip to change the quality of screen sharing. The tip says that opening terminal and typing:
    defaults write com.apple.ScreenSharing controlObserveQuality #
Where # is the quality of the screen sharing: 1=black and white, 2=grey scale, 3=8 bit color, 4=16 bit color, 5 = full color
I've tried this with ichat 5.0.3, but it doesn't seem to work. I still get full quality even if I set it to:
    defaults write com.apple.ScreenSharing controlObserveQuality 1
    Any help here?
    Thanks,
    D

    Opps,
    Just spotted something
    defaults write com.apple.ScreenSharing controlObserveQuality #
This s not an iChat setting. It is not a .plist to do with iChat
Most likely it is the setting for the Screen Sharing App. (see System Preferences > Sharing)
The app can be invoked by going to the Go Menu in the Finder > GO to Server and starting the line with VNC:// (Instead of SMB or AFP)
The app that runs this is "hidden" in /System/Library/CoreServices and not in the Applications folder.
I take it this was the Hint ? (which says it is VNC connections = plain Screen Sharing).

  • Screen sharing in listen mode only

    Hello readers
I try to use either VNC or "Screen sharing" to connect to a remote mac Mini.
Both works. If I use a VNC clienet, I can set "Observing Mode", which does prevent all mouse and keybord action to be sent to the remote host. Unfortunately I can't do that with "Screnn sharing". I prefer this Mac OS X tool as I can easely use it in a bash script to do the connection automatically. I didn't find a VNC client which is scriptable either by AppleScript or command line.
So If someone can tell me, if it is possible to change the behavior of "Screen sharing" to "Obeserve mode" is appreceated.
