Changing document restriction in Adobe Reader using JavaScript

Hi all,
I'm wondering if it's possible to change the "Commenting" document restriction option of a pdf file with "No Security" as the security method, using JavaScript while in Adobe Reader.

The only option you have to select a word using JS is by using the selectPageNthWord method, which works based off an index, not a quads.
However, in principle you should be able to use a loop that iterates over all the words on the page, comparing their quads to the one you have, and then selecting the one that matches.

I have already tried your solution, however in that case I get the error - "UncaughtSys.ArgumentNullException: Sys.ArgumentNullException:
Value cannot be null.Parameter name: context"...
Also, I tried removing SP.SOD.executeFunc
from my code, but no success :(

You can view non-PDF documents, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, RTF, in Adobe Reader for iOS. However, you are not able to add comments or edit non-PDF documents in Adobe Reader.
To open a non-PDF document in other iOS app.
Tap anywhere in a document to display the toolbar in Adobe Reader.
Tap the Share icon on the right side of the toolbar.
Select Open In... from the menu.
Select an appropriate app to open the document.
Alternatively, you can convert a Word/Excel/PowerPoint/RTF document to PDF using the paid subscription service called Adobe PDF Pack and add comments to a resultant PDF document.

I had the same problem on my Windows 8 touch screen laptop. It was driving me crazy! Every time I tried to scroll a page down, the program would zoom the page! Made reading an ebook difficult.
I finally found the solution:
Under Edit select Preferences - General
Uncheck "Make Hand Tool Use mouse-wheel zooming".

Why dont i ever see downloaded pdfs in the "documents section" in adobe reader on my ipad? They only stay in the Acrobat.com section and when I try to move them the "documents" partion is not listed as an option. Only the folders i have within acrobat.com are listed

The pdfs have been uploaded to Acrobat .com (from my computer) I open the Adobe reader on my ipad and see them in the acrobat partition of the reader. I tap on them and they open. To test whether they were truly downloaded ,I turn off wifi and they still open. I consider this "downloaded" BUT... they stay in the acrobat.com partition of the reader. Nothing ever goes or lives in the "Documents" partition..nor can I move anything there.....Why not? What is the"documents" partition there for if nothing lives or can be moved there?

You need to install the HP printer software. The installation process will place a printer icon under the Windows 8.1 Apps menu. Click on the icon and you should be able to see the Advanced setting link.

First show the Documents list, and in the upper left tap the Edit button. A toolbar in the upper left you'll see a folder icon with a + superimposed. Tap that and you'll be prompted to Create a Folder. Enter the folder name and tap the Save button and your new folder will appear in the Documents list.

Adobe Reader mobile products (Reader for iOS, Reader for Android, etc.) do not support commenting or form filling with secured (hence, encrypted) PDF documents.

I hate this, now all pdf documents open with Adobe reader x

Until recently all pdf documents opened nicely with Adobe Acrobat which was installed with the creative suite CS5. Recently I had to update the Acrobat plugin for Firefox and I don't know what exactly was installed but somehow I ended up with Adobe Reader x on my computer and now when I open pdf documents from my hard drive they all open with an Adobe reader which I hate. How that reader managed to install and change my experience without me noticing? Now I have to change file associations. Do I need this reader and what is it for when I have a full version of Acrobat?
I will greatly appreciate your help.

Unfortunately, once Reader is installed, uninstalling it will require you to repair your Acrobat installation. You should be able to right click on a PDF and select Open With and set Acrobat as the default. Also, be sure that Reader is not part of the startup of Windows (you can use Start>Run>msconfig to check that) and also open current tasks (ctrl-alt-del) and be sure AcroRd32 or similar file is not running in the background. Be aware that AcroTray is part of Acrobat and is needed for PDF creation.

I have fixed this issue using the "app.fs.isFullScreen = true;" statement.
Doing this you don't see toolbar anymore.
You can use "hideToolbarButton" instruction and, maybe, you can obtain a more interesting result.

Close adobe reader by javascript

Hi all,
My web-page have a menu item, when user click the menu item, it open a pdf document in adobe reader (because I code the menu to submit to asp page, this asp page return a pdf document inline).
After user fill some info in the form, click submit, the form will be closed (because I put javascript to button, to close the form after submit).
The issue is: after document close, Adobe is still there. I want Adobe application is also closed, or minimized, but I cannot.
This is my code in submit button on pdf document:
in mouse-up of button, I put actions:   - submit the form
                                                       - Run a JavaScript:
this.closeDoc(true);
app.execMenuItem("MinimizeAll");
it doesn't work, after document closed, Adobe reader is not minimized at all.
I changed to this
this.closeDoc(true);
app.execMenuItem("Exit")
                                                       But It doesn't work too?

app.execMenuItem("MinimizeAll") seems to work from the console, but not
from a button, so assuming you can't install a script on the local machine
of the users, I would say that no, you can't do it.

PDF not opening in Adobe Reader using openWithDefaultApplication

Hello all,
I'm having a huge problem.
I've developed an application that opens pdf files from the desktop using openWithDefaultApplication().
It works great on my development PC which has Acrobat Pro.
The files open in Acrobat Pro flawlessly.
It DOES NOT work on other PCs that only have Adobe Reader.
Someone please help!!
Does anyone know why my application won't open pdf files using Adobe Reader?
All tested PCs are running Windows 7 and Air 4.0.
I've tried with both Adobe Reader X and XI.

Update:
My stupidity. Changed a path and still had the old folder on development computers so all appeared fine. That was the issue.
