Changing error message for mandatory field in me21n

Hi,
We had made the field "Collective no." of the additional data tab of the me21n transaction mandatory.
We also change the name of that field to a custom name.
Now if the user doesn't enter text in that field we get the error "Please enter Collective no.".
I want to change the message to match our new field name.
I checked in T100 for that message, but it's not there.
Can anyone tell me from were that message come from, and how to change it.

Tell us class and msg no so that we can find out coz it is pecular requirement.
I suggest do not make it mandotary and dont change to custom field - give information message, place the cursor in field so user get message when he dont enter any value.
yesterday we have discussed same we do not have any userexit - SAP direct modification required.
PAI of the SAPMEGUI 1229 and MEPO1229-SUBMI field it contains value of collection no so just write your code there.

How to show a single error message for all fields

I have a JSF from containing around 10 controls(input, select etc.) .
Now I need to display an error message in case any of the mandatory control has validation error.
Message format would be like
"*Please,Complete the fields marked with yellow!"* The message I need to show in a div tag with Yelow background.
Currently, I am getting individual default error message in case validation fails and related field is bordered with Yellow.

This Phase listener is to border the control with Yellow in case validation fail.
Now my Query
*1) How can I show a single message for all fields as I marked above in case of validation failure?*

Thanks for your response.
The FM returns the error messages if they are standard ones. For example, if the posting period is closed - the FM will not allow the Workflow to proceed further.
But in this case, I have a custom error - for a particular Profit center, Cost center and I/O fields are mandatory(not at time of parking, but should be filled before posting).
Since this is not a standard error, this FM will not stop workflow from proceeding further. How can I have the custom error captured in this FM?

Geting error message for optional field.

i have a issue as below.
1) i have created a context node BUILIDNUMBER(Parent entity Header with relation ) for view BPHEADOverview   in BP_HEAD and in BUILIDNUMBER there is an attribute IDENTIFICATIONNUMBER.
2) Initially this attribute was a manadatory field in Account Overview screen of IC Webclient and i changed it to optional as per requirement.In account overview screen of contact person this field is now shown as optional.
3)But when we tried to save the record without PIN number(IDENTIFICATIONNUMBER) it's showing error like 'Enter ID Number' .Even after setting the value of ID type (ID type is IDENTIFICATIONTYPE of context node BUILIDNUMBER as in our case PIN number should be saved along with its ID Type ) we are getting above error.
4)We are setting the value of ID type as blank in Method SET_IDENTIFICATIONNUMBER if PIN number is empty but we are still getting the same error and i checked in on save event method PIN Number and ID type is passed as blank.
                                           We are able to create BP in ICCMP_BP_DETAIL component without the PIN number in BuPaCreate view ,If We fill PIN number for the created BP in Account Overview screen (By editing) and save it    then the record is saved with the PIN Number successfully.But when we again make the PIN field blank and save the record in Account Overview Screen , It is showing error 'Enter ID Number'.
                             I am confused why we are getting error message even after setting Pin Number and ID type as blank.For testing purpose I deleted the error message from bol core and now error message is not coming but on save still PIN number field contains the previous value which i had earlier set blank .
              Any helpful solution will be appriciated.

Change Error Message in Travel Expenses

Hi All,
I'm having a problem changing one of the error messages on the Create Expense Report screens in ESS Travel Expenses.

I've changed the label to say Ticket instead of Document. Now I need to change the error message to match. I found the error message in the backend, but it is formatted as Required entry field "&" is empty. Does anyone know where Document Number is inserted into the error message? Alternately, is there a way to change the error message for that field to a custom message?

How to prevent error message for material description in MDG material detail screen, when user click on check action

Dear Experts,
I have a requirement for making material description as non mandetory in change request view of mdg material screen.
I have done that using field usage in get data method of feeder classes, but still message is displaying.
This message 'Material description is mandatory is displaying with check action only, but not with save or submit after i anhance field property as not mandetory.
How to prevent error message for material description in MDG material detail screen, when user click on check action.

Hello Sukumar
In IMG activity "Configure Properties of Change Request Step", you can completely deactivate the reuse area checks (but will then loose all other checks of the backend business logic as well).
You can also set the error severity of the checks from Error to Warning (per CR type, not per check).
Or you provide a default value for the material description, e.g. by implementing the BAdI USMD_RULE_SERVICE.

Pop up error messages for failed custom validation

I am using jdev-10.1.3.4
My application is in ADF BC
I am writing custom validation through managed bean, I want pop-up error message for this failed validation.
My problem scenario is:
I had some list box as "status"-when this status changes to failed then the other field namely "closed date" should become madantory and also date in closed date field can't be in future.I am able to have all this validation through managed bean and also able to use af:messages through which i am able to print error message on the top of the form, but i am not able to give pop up error message for this failed validation.
I had gone thru jdev guide but there is nothing like what i am asking.
it would be of great help if someone can give me some example also.

ADF has global setting where you can configure the way messages are shown to user:
You can make this setting in adf-faces-config.xml
The <client-validation> element controls how client-side converters and validators are run.
Three values are supported:
"INLINE": validation is shown inline in a page (the default)
"ALERT": validation is shown in an Javascript alert
"DISABLED": validation is only handled on the server
IN your case, set it to 'ALERT'.

Where is the error message for Debrief line stored?

I'm writing an sql query to display all the debriefs (and lines) in error and need to display the detailed error message (the field labeled "Error" on the Material tab on Debrief form). Does anyone know where this is stored in tables? I am digging the form and have not found anything yet. Any help is appreciated.
Sorry - I guess it is - CSF_DEBRIEF_LINES.error_text - But there have been some error records for which I could not find the error message in error_text field and I thought that it was stored somewhere else and that got me confused. - Please ignore the question.

when you set a picture to be a background of some folder that picture is not moved from its original location. instead a record is made in the .DS_Store file of that folder indicating that this picture is the one to be used for the background. in case of the DVD it is likely sitting in some hidden folder right on the DVD.
run the following terminal command to enable showing hidden files in finder
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles 1; killall Finder
then look on the dvd and the picture should be there somewhere. if you still can't find it open the .DS_store file of the folder in question using Text Editor. a lot of this file will be unreadable but the picture path will be present in plain text.
when done rerun the above command after changing 1 to 0.

Error Message For BISystemUser: User not authenticated

We have migrated from DEV to PROD env.(11.1.1.1 -> 11.1.1.3). Along problems with bipublisher - there are some strange thingths: we successfully loging using weblogic account into AdminConsole и Enterprise Manager, but in Answers we get an error: invalid username or password.
nqserver.log:
...[ERROR:1] [] [] ... [tid: 1090] Error Message For BISystemUser: User not authenticated.
...[ERROR:1] [] [] ... [tid: 1090] [nQSError: 43126] Authentication failed: invalid user/password.
In oracle support we found such issue (Doc ID 1308389.1):
OBIEE 11g Error: "Unable to Sign in. invalid username or password was entered" After Changing Repository, Deleting BISystem User, Adding it Back (Doc ID 1308389.1)
Applies to: Business Intelligence Server Enterprise Edition - Version: 11.1.1.3.0 [1905] to 11.1.1.5.0 [1308] - Release: 11g to 11g
Symptoms: In OBIEE 11.1.1.3.0 using default authenticator, it is not possible to log in to OBIEE after changing repository. To troubleshoot, BIsystemuser was removed from global roles and added back again.
Getting error: Unable to Sign in. invalid username or password was entered
Changes: Changed repository, deleted BISystemuser, added the user back
Cause: Several changes e.g changing rpd, deleting bisystem user, adding the user back etc. occurred in the environment and caused log in to OBIEE to stop working
Solution: After a lot of troubleshooting e.g re-starting system in the correct order, refreshing GUIDs, re-start OBIEE with default SampleAppLite.rpd and web catalog, the error persists. The system was uninstalled and re-installed to avoid further corruption and configuration problems in the new installation. This resolved the problem
Does we have to 'reinstall or make a lot of troubleshooting e.g re-starting system ' to solve this error?
It seem to be funny for PROD environment. How we cam resolve this problem?

Are you saying you upgraded both dev and prod from 11.1.1.1 to 11.1.1.3 or that you migrated a dev 11.1.1.1 to a prod 11.1.1.3? What did you migrate?
At a rough guess the BISystemUser password is different in dev and prod (created by system on install) and in your 'migration' you've moved the dev credential across to prod.
If that's the case you need to change the bisystemuser password to something known and update the credential store password.
Another possibility might just be that you need to regenerate the GUIDs:

Value for mandatory field is missing

Hello again,
I created an application how descripted in 95 Implementing Remote Persistency with CAF and RFCs (Service).
The problem occurred when I try to search for an entry. I get the following error:
german: "ERROR. Wert für Pflichtattribut ... fehlt:"
english: "Value for mandatory field ... is missing"
The option mandatory=true seems to be the problem. But I need this option to make these fields available for the mapping with the create method. After I while of tinkling I find out that the errormessage appears when I set more than to fields to mandatory.
Do anybody know how to resolve this error?

Hi Martin,
I reported this issue to development and they said that this is "by design". Here is the recommendation.
1. set the "Mandatory" flag to false for each attribute that is not required by your external interface.
2. perform mappings for only the mandatory attributes in the create method.
3. perform mappings for mandatory and optional attributes in the update method. The update method allows you to map optional attributes.
4. At runtime, first call the create method with only the required attributes, then call the update method to fill any optional attributes.
This should eliminate the error that you get in the Service Browser.

OBA5 : Error Message for duplicate entry

In Tcode OBA5 - i enter F5 as Apllication area and i select new entries - i Enter 117 - and i Enter E before i save.
but when i go to MIRO to check if there is an error message for duplicate entry, i find just a Warning Message !
Please did i forget any thing ? please advise.

OBA5 should be enough, but you must remenber that the following fields must be identical for duplicate invoice check:
     Company code                           (BUKRS)
     Vendor number                           (LIFNR)
     Currency                                    (WAERS)
     Reference number                       (XBLNR)
     Amount in document currency      (WRBTR)
     Document date                           (BLDAT)
Note 305201 is also helpful.
