Workflow to change file permission in SharePoint Online Document Library
1.What are my options with SPD 2013 If I want to change a documents file permission in a workflow?
2.Where does SPO host 2013 Workfows?
3.If connecting to SPO Can I use Worklow Manager 1.0?
4.Will I need to host my Workflow Manager workflows on server or Azure if running against o365/SPO?
5.If I wish to create SPO 2013 workflows with Visual Studio 2012, what do I need and will I be limited to actions I see in SPD 2013?
============================
Thank You
cyberpine.comYou can host this workflow as a SharePoint App in SharePoint Online or use SharePoint Designer to create this workflow as long as you use the app step. Managing the permissions can be done with a REST call. The initiator of the workflow must have
been granted the right to "Manage Permissions" and the app must have full control of the Site Collection. We have done so for several of our clients. I know you asked this question some time ago, but I thought the info might still be helpful. -
Cannot change file permission / privilege from custom to anything else
After I successfully set up file sharing on my MacBook Pro, my colleague dropped off some files for me in the Drop Box. The problem is, I cannot change the permissions for myself on these files.
When I "Get Info", I have no problems changing the permissions for all other users.
But when I try to change for "myname (Me): custom" to anything else, it remains unchanged.
Btw, even after I click on the lock icon, and enter my password, the "Locked" and "Stationery Pad" checkboxes remain greyed out.
How do I change the permission for (Me) to Read & Write? I am already the Admin on this comp. Is anyone else having this problem?Solved, at least for me! Check it out.
I also had a bunch (3) of 'users' on both my startup drive (Tiger) and my second internal drive (no system). This happened after I did an 'archive/install' of Leopard on an external FW drive and using Migration Assistant to move the rest of my root-drive files onto the same FW disk.
At some point, probably after restarting from the FW Leopard disk, the 2nd internal drive /Disk_Two, had privileges set to custom for all 3 users and the disk was locked. Disk Utility was grayed out for permission check/repair.
I tried the terminal command...
chris$ sudo fsaclctl -p /Volumes/Disk_Two -d
...but no luck.
But tonight I am happy! I am using my laptop (Leopard) to make these repairs with the two internal hard drives and the external FW drive of my Dual G5 available through Target Mode.
Thanks to Niel at
http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8823809
I typed into terminal
chris$ sudo chflags nouchg /Volumes/Disk_Two
and all is fine. ONE set of proper permissions (was three!).
chris$ ls -le
drwxrw-rwx 122 chris chris 4216 Feb 24 22:45 Disk_Two
The startup disk, Macintosh HD, had similar problems, but was not locked. I used the same command...
BUT, as Niel suggests, type up to...
chris$ sudo chflags nouchg <- space
and drag the drive onto terminal. This was important since the Target-Mode drive is called "Macintosh HD 1" since my laptop already has a Macintosh HD.
Finally, ls -le didn't look good after the above maneuver, but when I "get info" and unlock the little keypad at the bottom, all the weird users with 'custom' permissions disappear and I'm left with usual (and wonderful to see again) users which I can once again modify for permissions! -
I was under the assumption that I could use cffile to change
file permissions on the fly... I am find this extremely difficult.
Does anyone know how to change file permissions of a file using
cffile.
Thanks.In CF8, use the FileSetAccessMode(filepath, mode)
function. -

I only know what OSX tells me -- so my information is only as good as its messages.
Locked files seem like a good possibility though.
Your first post seemed to say that some specific files couldn't be deleted. If you know any of their names, see if one is locked. if not, that isn't the problem. If it is, unlock it and try to delete. If it still won't delete, that's not the problem, either (or at least not all of it).
How can I just make all file unlocked since I have no idea which of the tens of thousands of file are at fault?
I know in OSX its easy to change permissions on a folder and then propagate that change to all child foders and files. Does locking/unlocking work the same?
If you don't know of any specific files, try creating one, locking it, then seeing if you can delete it.
There doesn't seem to be any way to unlock all files in a folder.
Do you want to delete everything on the TC? If so, just erase it with Airport Utility -- only takes seconds.
EDIT: These files wouldn't be in Time Machine backups, would they? If so, you can only delete entire backups via the Finder, not individual files or folders. But the message OSX usually sends when you try that says so fairly clearly.

Change File Permissions (Ownership) Recursively
While running under my User, I restored some files (from Retrospect) for another User on my MacBook. Using the Finder, I moved them to the other User's folder but they when I look at the directories and files that I moved, I see that I am still the "owner" in the file permissions.
I need to change file permission ownership recursively down the hierarchy of several folders, e.g., Documents, etc.
I'm happy to use chown in Terminal if someone will just give me a clue on the proper command.
Thanks for your help.

MacBook (Early 2006)
10.6.8Well,
$ man chown
gives you the chown manual page, which is always a good idea to read if you're not familiar with the command. In this instance, I think the command would be
$ chown -vR <owner> <file>
But you might feel more comfortable with a GUI tool like BatChmod. -

Change the permission while placing the file
Hi Experts,
I have a production issue :
I am placing the .txt file into a SFTP server location from a SFTP Location[NO Transformation in the file]. (Sender and receiver channels are SFTP)
I am using user- user1(for example) which have the read write access to the particular folder, hence when it places the file it places with 664 permission .(This permission gives only user1 as read/write access , but other user have read only access).
The requirement :
The user2 want to deletes the file from the particular folder location , they want to know by any means can PI change the permission while placing the file into that location so that user2 can also have read/write access.
Can you provide the opinion whether it can be done using SFTP receiver channel or any other option to change the permission of the file.As far as i know the permissions are related to the folder and the User not for files
While creating the access, a particular user authorizations related particular folder, not related to files.
So this should be done some thing like by giving the read/write access to user2 as well

Change windows file permission from Oracle PL/SQL
Hi
I am using APEX4.2 to produce a graph ( by AnyChart) and used the simple pop up windows to save the graph to a PNG image file called test.png in the windows location ( being X:\APEX_CHART where X is pointing to windows server /abc/Transfer/APEX_CHART/ ).
Now I wanted to be able to change the permission of this windows file to be private to one group and not available to other public users. Can I achieve this via API from Oracle PL/SQL ?

That doesn't look like a Windows path. Do you mean \\abc\Transfer\APEX_CHART?

Is the database on the same server as \\abc\Transfer\APEX_CHART? -
How to use FilePermission class to change the file permission in Linux
Hi all,
I'm running in a issue related to changing the file permission under Linux environment. I'm using Suse 10.0 Linux and run jdk 1.5 java runtime.
I want to create a file during execution time and change the permission of the same. I use File.createNewFile() API to create file. By default it does not have all the 3 permission (read, write, execute) for all the user ( user, owner, group). Through program I have to change the file permission ( equal to execute ,chmod 777 filename).I donot want to use runtime.exec() with chmod as the argument , since it creates a process to change the permission which may impact the performance. I want to try FilePermission class , by giving filename and permission as the argument. But it is not changing the permission . Could any one faced this problem ?
If any body guides me, how to change the permission of the file under Linux using FilePermission class , it would be helpful.
Thanks,
SankarHow do I set the Umask prior to starting the program
? Could pls explain in steps.I don't think umask can help you. The mode mask prevents permission bits from being set when a file is created, but does not force any bits to be set. So if execute permission is not set explicitly when a file is created, umask will do nothing about it.
But if you want more information about umask, see the man page for your shell script (sh, csh, etc.) or "man 2 umask". -
Changing Folder/File Permission Parameter
Good morning.
I am trying to change some setting in a VIDEO_TS folder, but all of the files are "Read Only". Even When I go to "Get Info" there doesn't seem to be a way to change permission.
What am I missing? How can I change the permission parameter so that I can edit the file?
Thanks in advance.
BrianHi Martin.
Thank you for the quick response.
I videotape a project with my cameras set to 16:9. I have edited them, changed them to a quicktime movie and burned an image using iDVD.
Of course it won't play in 16:9, so I was using a program called myDVDEdit to change the parameters of the files in the VIDEO_TS folder to make them display in 16:9. I posted a question/thread about it yesterday, but nobody responded.
When I go into the VIDEO_TS folder, the files are all "Read Only", so I can't edit them. I went to "Get Info" to change the permissions and everything is grayed out so that I can't change anything.
Can you suggest a better method for any of this?

/dev/null file permission changes frequently
Hi,
We are experiencing file permission change issue frequently for the
following files:
root@domain5 # ls -l /devices/pseudo/mm@0:null
crw-rw-rw- 1 root sys 13, 2 Apr 22 2009
/devices/pseudo/mm@0:null
root@domain5 # ls -l /dev/null
crw-rw-rw- 1 root sys 13, 2 Oct 25 07:01 /dev/null
By default, above is the file permission settings. If the file permission
changes, it will look like as below:
root@domain5 # ls -l /devices/pseudo/mm@0:null
cr--r--r-- 1 root sys 13, 2 Apr 22 2009
/devices/pseudo/mm@0:null
root@domain5 # ls -l /dev/null
cr--r--r-- 1 root sys 13, 2 Oct 25 07:01 /dev/null
Due to this file permission change the script which uses this file loose
the write permission and the script fails. To fix this issue, we will be
manually changing the permission. Can you please help me to know the cause for
this file permission change.
Thanks,
Ram.You need to correlate any changes on the system to when you have the problem, or see the date on /dev/null change. Software packages can change this, applications can change this, sometimes even patch installs.
Even certain administrative practices.
Here's one example, where touching a vendor software-created printer config with native Solaris admintool would change /dev/null permissions
http://www.rootunix.org/SOLARIS/printFAQ.txt
10) ONLY ROOT CAN SEND PRINT JOBS:
This problem is caused by network spooling software that for a
network printer that uses /dev/null for the printer device. The
software monitors the queue and spools the print requests over the
network to the printer. If the printer setup is modified in any
way with Admintool, the printer device (/dev/null) permissions will
change to 600 owner lp.
