Changing JSSE on WLS  6.1

There are security fixes in the latest version of jsse.jar from Sun. These classes
appear in weblogic.jar (javax.net, javax.net.ssl, javax.security.cert). Is it
ok to place the latest version of jsse.jar in front of weblogic.jar on the classpath
to take advantage of the security bug fixes.
thanks, Paul

These classes in weblogic.jar are from Certicom SSL implementation, which in 6.x
is used for connection between WL Server and Node Manager. So, if you are using
the Node Manager replacing them with jsse classes might break this connection.

  • Change request #063743 & WLS 6.1sp3

              Change request #063743 in the WLS sp4 resolved JMS issue list says:
              "Fixed a problem with Message Driven Beans not acknowledging object messages"
              Are there any more details on this? Would this affect any MDB onMessage() operation,
              or just those that throw exceptions? Would this affect MapMessages as well as
              ObjectMessages? Also, is this related to the negative numbers I see in the "Bytes
              Pending" column after my message is processed? What sort of problems do the unacknowledged
              messages usually cause for people?
              Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

    Actually I think the text on this one is wrong, or at least
              misleading. I just read the internal notes on the problem
              and it seems that the actual problem was that
              topic MDBs were not acknowledging messages if max-beans-in-free-pool
              was explicitly set to 1 in the weblogic descriptor, regardless
              of message type. Which leads me to guess you could work-around
              the problem temporarily by making the topic MDB transactional or
              increasing max-beans-in-free-pool higher than 1. Not 100%
              sure. Contact customer support to nail it down. (The newsgroups
              are not run by customer support - instead they are run by various
              volunteers.)
              Note that SP4 introduces another problem that breaks
              acknowledgement rather than fixes it. You will do best to
              go directly to SP5 (do not pass go, do not collect $200). Or
              contact customer support for the patch on SP4. I do not
              have the change request number for that one.

              Messages never get deleted. The JMS server eventually runs out
              of memory or or starts to throw quota exceptions.
              When the JMS server is rebooted, messages re-appear.

  • Error connecting WLS 10.3.1 JMS & MDBs with Oracle Advanced Queuing

    I followed the guide at http://blogs.oracle.com/imc/2010/12/how_to_use_oracle_aq_with_message-driven_beans_in_weblogic.html. Since the AQ queues were already set up by SAs and had been working with stateless session beans, I assume they're OK for use with MDBs. Names had to be changed in the WLS foreign server definition, destinations & connection factories to match.
    My MDB is:
    package xxxx;
    import javax.ejb.MessageDriven;
    import javax.jms.JMSException;
    import javax.jms.Message;
    import javax.jms.MessageListener;
    import javax.jms.TextMessage;
    @MessageDriven(name = "TestQueueListenerEJB")
    public class TestQueueListener implements MessageListener
    public void onMessage(Message message)
    if ( message instanceof TextMessage )
    try
    System.out.println("AQMDBTest: text message " + ((TextMessage)message).getText() + " processed");
    catch (JMSException e)
    e.printStackTrace();
    else
    System.out.println("AQMDBTest: generic message " + message.toString() +
    " of type " + message.getClass().getName() + " processed");
    And the relevant portion of the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml is:
    <weblogic-enterprise-bean>
    <ejb-name>TestQueueListenerEJB</ejb-name>
    <message-driven-descriptor>
    <pool>
    <max-beans-in-free-pool>1</max-beans-in-free-pool>
    <initial-beans-in-free-pool>1</initial-beans-in-free-pool>
    </pool>
    <destination-jndi-name>TestQueue</destination-jndi-name>
    <connection-factory-jndi-name>TestQueueConnectionFactory</connection-factory-jndi-name>
    </message-driven-descriptor>
    </weblogic-enterprise-bean>
    So when I deploy this to my test domain I get an error:
    <Feb 23, 2011 3:11:28 PM CST> <Warning> <EJB> <BEA-010061> <The Message-Driven EJB: TestQueueListenerEJB is unable to connect to the
    JMS destination: TestQueue. The Error was:
    Can not get destination information. The destination JNDI name is TestQueue, the provider URL is null>
    The test connection of the datasource is successful.
    What else could I have wrong? This is my first post to this topic. Please let me know what additional information I need to provide about this. Or if I've provided too much.
    Thanks very much,
    Jim Greetham

    OK. So I got my DBAs to create a new user with the necessary privs. Created a new queue, table, etc. I have been able to receive messages from it. So I have some looking to do in my production database queue definitions.

  • Custom SSLServerSockets in WLS 7.0

    Hi,
    I'm currently trying to figure out if it is possible to open custom
    SSLServerSockets (via JSSE) in WLS 7.0 and dispatch the incoming
    requests to the proper HttpServlet, based on the request. Customized
    SSL connections are required to allow us to plug in an own
    X509KeyManager to load certificates and keys from a database instead
    of the disk, to open multiple, differently configured ports out of the
    same WLS instance and to enable/disable certain ciphersuites. The
    code (JSSE compliant) is already available, I just don't know how to
    call the servlet in transparent way.
    Is there any known way to do that? Any helping ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks & Best regards,
    Ronny

    The answer was simple. I did not include lib\mbeantypes jars to the classpath.

  • Configuring AQJMS with BAM EMS on WLS

    I have followed the wiki instructions to configure this but the ems does not get started
    When i try to start it manually if gives
    BAM-00553: Resources start operation for destination jms/BAMAQTopic failed.
    Raghuram

    Raghu,
    I too had faced this problem last week. I think either wiki is missing one step or something has changed in the WLS from the time this wiki was written to now. Delete everything you created by following the steps of wiki (like data source, JMS module, foreign server etc) and start again. In the first step (creation of datasource), don't click Finish after doing "Test" but go to the "Next" step and choose the server BAM is deployed on and then click Finish. Rest of the steps are same as wiki and things should work after this change. Let me know if you face any further issue.
    I am going to get the wiki updated.
    Thanks,
    Vishal

  • Problem with tutorial; "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using "

    I've got a rather new installation of Vista Business x64 on my developer rig, and last week I installed the new JDeveloper 11g version. The installation was all-inclusive, no customization on my end.
    In addition I've got a test installation of an Oracle DB 11gR1 on an available server here.
    To familiarize myself with the new JDeveloper I decided to spend some time with the JDeveloper 11g tutorials found here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/index.html.
    I've started twice on the second tutorial, "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces", and find myself repeatedly stuck at step 19 in section "Creating the Data Model and Testing it".
    It seems impossible to deploy the application to the default application server. The server starts fine on its own, I can access it via the admin console on port 7001 and it looks good. However, when I try to run the HRFacadeBean funny things are happening, symptomized by the following error messages seen in the IDE log-area:
    The "Messages" pane displays:

    I'm not that familiar with these things but it seems to me that there is an issue with port numbers here. The application seems to expect a app.server service at port 7101, but does'nt find one.
    Any suggestions on how to fix this problem would be appreciated?

    Jupp,
    It fails in a similar way.
    What I did was; create a simle 'Hello World' html file, saving it with the jsp extension. In Jdev11g i made a new application and an emtpy project, then loaded the jsp file and made it the default run-target. This compiles nicely.
    When running the project it first attempts to start the WebLogicServer (WLS). After a few minutes it is started as seen in the "Running: DefaultServer" pane:

    DefaultServer started.
    In the "Messages" pane, however, things are not looking so good:
    Context: MakeProjectAndDependenciesCommand application=TestAppJsp.jws project=TestProjJsp.jpr
    [7:20:49 PM] Successful compilation: 0 errors, 0 warnings.
    [Application TestAppJsp is bound to Server Instance DefaultServer]
    [Starting Server Instance DefaultServer]
    #### Server Instance DefaultServer could not be started: Server Instance was terminated.
    But, of course, the server is actually running as I can access it via its Admin Console.
    So, I try to run the project again, and this time the following is shown in the "Messages" pane:
    Compiling...
    Context: MakeProjectAndDependenciesCommand application=TestAppJsp.jws project=TestProjJsp.jpr
    [7:26:39 PM] Successful compilation: 0 errors, 0 warnings.
    [Application TestAppJsp is bound to Server Instance DefaultServer]

    #### Server Instance DefaultServer could not be started: Server Instance was terminated.
    The "Running: DefaultServer" now comes up with:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd
    [waiting for the server to complete its initialization...]
    [Server Instance DefaultServer is shutting down.  All applications currently running will be terminated and undeployed.]
    Process exited.
    The WLS is still running though as I can still access its adm console.
    To me it seems that it is attempting to start a separate instance of the WLS for each run attempt, but then I could be wrong.....:(
    Later I'll try to change the default WLS port from 7001 to 7101 as suggested in another port here.
    I must admit that I'm a bit surprised that the JDev11g doesn't work fine at this very simple level when performing a default install.

    Why is this happening?

    Well, i am able to solve the problem.
    Some of the changes in the WLS Admin Console were left Unsaved.
    All I had to do was to Undo/Save the changes.

  • Problem with jikes & EJB

    I've been experiencing a problem using jikes to compile EJBs. Has anyone
    has this type of problem and is there a known fix?
    The beans seem to compile fine, but I get an error when trying to deploy
    them. Here's the error:
    weblogic.ejb.common.DeploymentException: Unexpected I/O exception during
    deployment:
    weblogic.ejb.common.DeploymentException: Problem deploying a bean:
    java.lang.VerifyError: (class:

    branch
    at java.lang.Class.getConstructor0(Native Method)
    at java.lang.Class.getConstructor(Class.java:886)
    Thoughts?
    - Doug

    That seems to be the problem. It only happens on one bean which is a very
    large one. It appears to work ok with the javac 1.3 compiler, but no luck
    with jikes. It's unfortunate, because jikes is SO much faster.
    At least I know someone else is seeing this problem. Thanks for the info.

    Hi.
    This sounds a bit like a problem we were having when compiling one of the
    generated classes for a bean with a huge number of methods (~400). The
    ensureInitialised method (I think, it might be a different method now -the
    name of the class changes in every WLS version) got so big that some ofthe
    jump instructions needed to become wide jump instructions but both javacand
    jikes got it wrong.
    For us, the workaround was (and still is) to use kjc(http://www.dms.at/kopi/)
    to compile the generated classes.
    This may or may not be your problem, however.
    Toby.

  • JSF 1.2  and Weblogic 10.3.6 compatibility issue

    Hi All,
    Our application have been developed in JSF 1.2 and spring DAO. We have deployed it on Weblogic 10.3.6 X86 server.
    We are facing an issue like on page load data are populated in the page. Say for example on page load company list getting populated and displayed in the drop down.
    If we do any operation like select a company code or submit the page all the data are flushed out from the pages. After that navigation of pages also doesnot work.
    We neither get any logs nor exception.
    And i am not getting this issue in my local weblogic server - 10.3.5
    We are struggling with this issue for more than 10 days now and its critical time for us to fix it ASAP.
    Thanks,
    Seetha

    Hi kalyan,
    We are not getting any logs. the control is going to javascript but the page get refreshed and all data are just vanishing.
    We have tried to add below entries in weblogic-application.xml
    <wls:prefer-application-packages>
    <wls:package-name>com.sun.facelets.*</wls:package-name>
    <wls:package-name>com.sun.faces.*</wls:package-name>
    <wls:package-name>javax.faces.*</wls:package-name>
    <wls:package-name>javax.servlet.*</wls:package-name>
    </wls:prefer-application-packages>
    No change.
    Tried this
    <wls:library-ref>
    <wls:library-name>jsf</wls:library-name>
    <wls:specification-version>1.2</wls:specification-version>
    <wls:implementation-version>1.2</wls:implementation-version>
    <wls:exact-match>false</wls:exact-match>
    </wls:library-ref>
    No Change.
    tried this
    <wls:prefer-application-resources>
    <wls:resource-name>APP-INF/lib</wls:resource-name>
    </wls:prefer-application-resources>
    No Change
    Anything we missing here. Why it is working in my local server and not in Integration server?
    Kindly help us.
    Thanks,
    Seetha

  • Deploy app.

    Hi. When I try to deploy my app to standalone Weblogic server then I have error:
    [Deployer:149140]The task cannot be processed further until the current edit session is activated. When this occurs, task processing will continue. The user can exit the deployer tool without affecting the task.
    What this error realy means and how to resolve it?
    Best regards, Debuger!

    This means someone else has made a change to the WLS instance which is not activated jet. This may be the result of a former deployment or a change to a data source or ...
    Open the admin console of the wls instance and you should see a button in the upper left hand corner (e.g. 'Activate Changes') which you hit. This should activate the changes made before. After the changes are done try again. Depending of the wls configuration you may need to activate the new deployment too.

  • Exception in JPA (NoClassDefFoundError: org/hibernate/AnnotationException)

    Hi,
    I´m having a serious problem when using JPA. I´m using Weblogic Server 10 and developing in Weblogic Workshop Studio. When I start the WLS in Workshop, all works fine, but when I use the "publish" over my WLS Server in Workshop because I change any class in the project (and I need to republish the project to send the changed class to WLS), the following error is reported when I try to use the JPA:
    Caused by: javax.ejb.EJBTransactionRolledbackException: EJB Exception: : java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/hibernate/AnnotationException

    at org.hibernate.ejb.Ejb3Configuration.configure(Ejb3Configuration.java:884)
    at org.hibernate.ejb.Ejb3Configuration.configure(Ejb3Configuration.java:186)
    Why the AnnotationException class is no more found after a publish in a started Weblogic Server ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sergio Stateri Jr.
    [email protected]

    Sergio,
    there are at least three implementation for JPA available: OpenJPA, TopLink, and Hibernate. The first two are or can easily installed in WLS. If you intend to use Hibernate as the persistence provider you should ensure that all libraries are in the class path of your application.

    It looks like you need to re-run weblogic.ejbc. Also make sure that
    your classes are only
    in the ejb-jar file and not the server's classpath.
    Finally, what version of WLS are you using? It shouldn't be throwing
    an AssertionError for
    this.

  • How do I manage Integrated Web Logic server with JDev?

    I need to change admin password on WebLogic Server (for the weblogic admin) and do it from JDev so that start/stop of weblogic server is possible. How do I do it? Continuing, how do I manage WLS from JDev?
    Note that I am able to view the application server using view->Application Server Navigator and expand the integrated application server. At this stage, I want I can right click on the application server and launch the admin console. In the authentication tab, the passwords are "grayed" out. I want to reset the password for this weblogic server. The question is how do I do that?

    Hi,
    There is no way to change password from the JDev configuration.
    It should be done directly from WLS.
    You can change the password @ WLS side and include the WLS into Jdev.
    Here is the following way to change current password.
    1.- Take the back of the LDAP folder of the admin server as well as managed server (you may rename those folders) and then delete the actual LDAP folder (found at servers\<MyServer>\data\ldap).
    2. Make sure WebLogic instance is down.
    3. Set your environment variables using setDomainEnv.sh.
    4. cd to security directory in your instance.
    (eg: $WL_HOME/user_projects/domains/base_domain/security)
    5. Run:
    java weblogic.security.utils.AdminAccount admin_user admin_pass .
    Remember to change “admin_user” and “admin_pass” to your need.
    Also, don’t forget the period “.” at the end of the above command, it is required.
    6. After running the command, the file “DefaultAuthenticatorInit.ldift” will get updated.
    7. Delete the following file from “ldap” folder:
    cd WL_HOME/user_projects/domains/base_domain/servers/AdminServer/data/ldap
    rm DefaultAuthenticatormyrealmInit.initialized
    8. Go to folder DOMAIN_HOME/servers/AdminServer/security
    9. Edit the boot.properties file and change the password to the value already used on step 5. Do this for all the servers in the domain.
    10. Start Weblogic Server (Weblogic Server will encrypt the password for you).
    Regards,
    Kal

  • WebLogic Server 10.3.5 shows 10.3.4 components

    Hi,
    This may be a silly question, but I will ask it anyway. Why is it that when I run config.sh to create a WebLogic Server domain, it lists 10.3.4 components when I get to the Select Domain Source screen?
    For example, Basic WebLogic Server Domain - 10.3.4.0 [wlserver_10.3]*.
    I know I am running 10.3.5 because I get this from my nohup....
    <Oct 14, 2011 1:05:23 PM EDT> <Info> <Management> <BEA-141107> <Version: WebLogic Server 10.3.5.0 Fri Apr 1 20:20:06 PDT 2011>
    Thanks,

    Thanks, I found that page, but I do not have access to the admin console (since the IP changed and all WLS-related items are down).
    I was able fix this by replacing all references to the IP with the hostname on the server. I recreated the nodemanager service and then rebooted the server. Everything fired up after that.
