Changing the ip address of the server..

i have seen that once we change the ip adress of the server issuing these commands will help in starting the database control
Emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop
Emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create
(OR)
Emca -deconfig dbcontrol db
Emca -config dbcontrol db -repos recreate
this situation can be used when we changed the static ip adress of the server to another static ip adress.
no i wonder if we want to have the database ip address to be assigned by the dhcp server ever time the server starts up setting the environmental parameter EMHOSTNAME to the local host name will help..
can any one tell me the real purpose of this enviromental variable because i couldnt find any info about this parameter every after googling...

Databases shouldn't reside on a DHCP assigned IP address.
The documentation is quite clear about that, and states you need a local loopback adapater (which is local to your system) to connect to a database on a DHCP assigned computer.
Basically switching to a DHCP address will mean no one will be able to connect to the database.
The reasons for this are obvious: DHCP addresses expire

  • I changed ISPs and had to change the server settings. Now one of my two email addresses crashes every time I try to read the emails.

At first Thunderbird downloaded every email from the problem account going back to 2011. I changed the server settings to only download emails from the last 15 days and to delete any messages older than 15 days.
I can send emails from this account and my other email account works fine for sending and reading mail. However, this problem account crashes Thunderbird every time I try to read the messages. There are now only 300 messages in the inbox and I've been able to have them marked as read. But I still can't read any of them.
    What's the fix on this?

Try to start *Windows* in safe mode with networking enabled.

Still in Windows safe mode, start Thunderbird in safe mode.

    Hi,
According to your post, an error occurred when you integrate SQL Server Reporting Services with SharePoint.
    1. Please check the steps as the link below:

  • How to properly change the server that is running service application?

    Hello
In our SharePoint 2013 farm we use the User Profile service applications very heavily.
I want to change the server that is hosting the service. The User Profile service application which is currently running on: (Server-1), But, I want it to be running on: (Server-2) instead.
    Is this (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee704549.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396) the
right/proper way to do it? What about the order?
I mean: Should I go to: Manage services on server > Server-2 > Start: User Profile.
    After that: Manage services on server > Server-1 > Snbsp;
    Or, The other way around:
    I mean: Should I go to: Manage services on server > Server-1 > Snbsp;
After that: Manage services on server > Server-2 > Start: User Profile.
Or, Is it a totally different way? Does the same way apply on other service applications too e.g. Managed Metadata too ?
I am asking about this because I really want to be super cautious while doing this change to avoid crashing the service or corrupting it.
    Thank you !

The order doesn't really matter if you're quickly doing this, but you could start it on the new and stop it on the old.
User Profile Service should generally run on the 'WFE(s)' since it is an end-user facing service.

  • How do I change an IP address of SQL Server which is locally hosted and is not on cluster?

    Hi All,
How do I change an IP address of SQL Server which is locally hosted and is not on cluster?
I am asking about IP for SQL Server, is there a way we can assign a different IP to SQL Server other than the server's(host) IP address? like the same what we do in a clustered env.

i don't know how to fix it , could you please give me some suggestion on it . tks

It would be a bad idea to use DHCP or changing ip's on the box where Oracle is running. The best way would be , in your case, to recreate the EM repository. Do the following,
emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop
emca -config dbcontrol db -repos createThese commands would be running on the terminal propmt.

  • How do I stop iCal from changing the server path of CalDAV accounts?

I'm using Davical as a calendar server for our family. Some may wonder why I use Davical and not iCloud. I do for one reason...there is no way to disable getting other users' alarms on the iPhone. I want to be able to view my wife's calendar but not get her alarms and have her be able to view my calendar and not get my alarms.
So, now onto the issue with server path setting changing in iCal. We each have our own calendar set up within our own accounts on our Davical server. We each have read access to the other's calendar. Within iCal account settings I have her account set up on my Mac with my username/password (jason/****) and, under server settings, the server path points to her calendar /caldav.php/juiper/). After a few days, sometimes just a few hours, suddenly I will have duplicate events throughout my calandar in iCal. Going to preferences I will see that the server path for her calendar will have been changed to the location of my calendar (/caldav.php/jason/). I'll correct the server path, restart iCal and then the calander will be correct for a while unitl the server path is automatically and incorrectly changed again and I must manually correct it again.
    Thanks!

My coworkers and I use DavMail to share access to a shared Exchange calendar, authenticating with our own ADS credentials. We also see the behavior where iCal will reset the CalDav calendar path to the username (our own) that is authenticating to the CalDav service. In Lion this wasn't a deal breaker for us. While very annoying, the work around was simple. Update the path via preferences, and restart iCal. However in Mountain Lion, the issue has become a lot more difficult to fix. It's no longer a matter of updating the path via preferences and restarting.
In Mountain Lion the solution to change the CalDav path back to the original path requires you to edit the file ~/Library/Calendars/<somehash>.caldav/Info.plist
Contained within this file is a value "CalendarHomePath", simply update the string to your desired path, clear out the 'Calendar Cache' file for good measure, then restart iCal.

  • How to change the server CLASSPATH

    Hello,
I am using OracleAS 10g (9.0.4.0) and I need to reference a properties file from my application which is stored in a folder outside the OAS installation folders. For that reason I want to add this "external" path to the CLASSPATH that the server uses (I don't want to change my application's CLASSPATH but rather change the CLASSPATH that all applications use). Can someone tell me how can I achieve this? For example in Weblogic I can do this by changing the startup.sh script that starts the server. Is there something similar in OAS? Thank you.
    Panos

    Hello
You can create libraries, that allows you at the application or OC4J instance level to specify which jar/classes files will be loaded, take a look to the documentation
I am encouraging you to read the paper "Classloading in OC4J". (note that this paper is valid for 10.1.2 or early and not valid for OC4J 10.1.3 where the class loader mechanism has been updated)

  • OEM is not getting started after changing the Server name

    Hello DBAs
Recently I installed Oracle database 10g on my a windows machine. It was working fine. Integrated OEM was also working fine.
But now I have changed the machine name. Now Oracle Database has come up after updating the listener.ora & tnsnames.ora files with new server name. But OEM page is not getting open now. I tried after updating the emd.properties and other related file on ORACLE_HOME\sysman folder with the new server name. But no luck.
In windows services one service named *"OracleDBConsoleDbname"* is not getting started, which could be the issue.
Can someone please guide me what can be done to fix this problem.
    Thanks
    -Naveen

    Hi Naveen,
What you are doing is not supported by Oracle. From EM Database Console FAQ (863631.1):
What action needs to be taken if the hostname or SID of the database server is changed?
If there is a hostname or SID change for the database server then the database console needs to be recreated. There is no other solution if the hostname or SID is changed other that recreating the database console. All database console configuration files are created under the hostname_sid directory and the configuration files along with the repository keeps reference of the hostname, which is why dbconsole needs to be reconfigured if there is change in hostname/sid.
Refer : Note.293678.1 How To Reconfigure DB Control After a Hostname, Domain name or Listener Change Has Occurred On The Server
And take a look at note 278100.1: How To Drop, Create And Recreate DB Control In A 10g Database

  • Where do i change the server in outlook email integration?

    Hi,
I work with 2 servers (pods) in CRM, but when i installed outlook email integration it conects to one of them and cannot find where to configure the other server, any help?
    thanks

You can change this in your regedit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE: Software: Siebel CRM On Demand: Siebel Outlook Email Integration On Demand
Change the values for UI Server and Server
You will have to change this each time you switch pods - as far as i know, unless there is some way you can put two buttons on your outlook and each button pointing to different pods.

  • How do I properly change the server name in mountain lion server?

I need to change my server name to a FQDN, but tried this with Lion server in the past without success. I know in lion you'd use server app, but that's no longer avaiable in mountain lion server and I want to make sure I get this right the first time.
    Thanks!

I was able to get everything working with some assistance from Apple's enterprise support. After changing the host name, the DNS was still not resolving properly and I couldn't turn on open directory so that I'd be able to start profile manager. The DNS interface is considerably different than that in previous versions of server. The network was set to manual ip with dhcp, which was pulling back an external IP. Overriding the DNS info coming in via the dhcp, setting it to localhost, resolved the issue.
    Thanks!

  • Changing the Server Pool Master

I need to remove one of the servers of a three node cluster, but before I remove that node I need to remove it as the Server Pool Master and make another node the server pool master. When I go to edit a server, the check box is there, but it’s disable. How do I enable this or accomplish this switch?

It's actually pretty simple, if both the old and new Server Pool Master servers are online. First, make sure that you're not running any VMs on either the old (existing) or new (planned) Pool Master servers. You also need to be sure that all your VMs are either Powered Off or Running, i.e. none being migrated or suspended.
    Then, here are the steps:
    1. Go to the Servers tab and delete the NEW Pool Master from the pool.
    2. Edit the EXISTING Pool Master and replace it's details with those of the NEW Pool Master, i.e. IP Address/Hostname. If the new pool master is also a utility server, you must ensure that you select that option in the Edit screen.
    3. Click OK
    4. Click the Server Pool tab and select your server pool. Then click the Restore button to update the status of all your servers/VMs in the pool.
    5. Manually restart the agent on the NEW Pool Master. Login to the Dom0 of the new pool master and run:
    # service ovs-agent stop
    # service ovs-agent start
You now have the new Server Pool Master running and the old one has actually been removed from the pool. You can add it back as a normal server using the default process in the GUI.
I know there are guys inside Oracle working on an official whitepaper on Reassigning the Server Pool Master role in situations where the old/new servers are not online, so you should keep a look out on the Virtualization OTN site.

  • Must I reinstal Oracle if I change the server's host name

My oracle817 is running on the windows2000 platform and works well.

I changed the long name & did not observe any problems.
Permission problems? - will there be ownership problems if the account owner's long name is changed but the short name is not,
Mac OS X uses the short name internally.
Login problems? - I assume the login window will show the usual picture icon for the administrator but with the new long name. And by clicking the icon I'll have no problem logging in as long as I supply the old unchanged password.
    correct
File sharing problems? - If I want to login (Connect) to the administrator's account from another machine then could I use either the new administrator long name or the old unchanged short name to do this?
Have not tried this. You can use the short name.

  • Changing the server name

    Hi,
We have our sandbox system in the solution manager and configurations done. Recently we have changed the hostname of the sandbox system viz., xy00yz01 to ab00bc0...now coming to the question...can I change the sandbox hostname in the solution manager so that the pre-existing configuration settings work? Does this work or Is there any alternative?
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi,
My question was not to change the name of a host server as such...say i have a server with name xy00yz01 and i have changed it to ab00bc01...i have done configuration settings for my satelite system with name xy00yz01in solution manager...now those settings can't be detected by the solution manager as the host name of my satelite system is now ab00bc01...so my question is whether I can change the host name of the satellite system to ab00bc01 from the solution manager setup so that I can all the configuration settings detected.
