Changing Users default Schema

Hello,
I'm trying to add a new user to my DB giving him the Schema of an old user as his default Schema.
Can somebody tell me how to change User2's default schema to User1?
Thanks in advance,
Gregor

I've changed /opt/SUNWcomm/data/WEB-INF/classes/sun/comm/cli/server/servlet/ resource.properties from switch-caltype=hosted to switch-caltype=legacy and restarted the web container but no luck.These settings control how UWC log's into calendar server, i.e. as uid (legacy) or [email protected] (hosted) - it sounds that your problem is related to how calendar server stores to data instead.

  • Is there a way to change the default schema for a user?

    I'd like to have, for example, user SCOTT access data from schema XYZ by default. From SQL Developer, I can do this via
    alter session set current_schema = XYZ ;
    But "alter" operations are not allowed via JDBC. How can I do this from the application layer?
    Thanks.
    -Tim

    do it right the first time around, use synonyms. Don't be presumptive. There may be any number of reasons for choosing to change schema instead of using synonyms. Not the least of which is that it is a more robust approach because we don't have to keep synonyms in sync with an application owner's objects.
    Of course the GRANT model has to be correct but that is true either way.

  • Can I change the default schema from "sql"

    I wish to switch between several sets of identical tables under different schemas/owners in the same database - say dev1, dev2, test, prod schemas.
    The (single) user I connect with (say - called Reader1) has granted select to all these tables, and now i wish to do something like:
    alter session set schema='dev1'
    select count(*) from customers
    select count(*) from sales
    alter session set schema='test'
    select count(*) from customers
    select count(*) from sales
    The database should then translate it to something like:
    select count(*) from dev1.customers
    select count(*) from dev1.sales
    select count(*) from prod.customers
    select count(*) from prod.sales
    Is this possible or does anyone have alternative suggestions ?

    This sure sounds like what "private synonyms" are supposed to be used for...
    -- User Reader1 needs the system privilege "create synonym"
    -- to create private synonyms
    create synonym flex_customers for dev1.customers ;
    create synonym flex_sales for dev1.sales ;
    select count(*) from flex_customers ;
    select count(*) from flex_sales ;
    drop synonym flex_customers ;
    drop synonym flex_sales ;
    create synonym flex_customers for test.customers ;
    create synonym flex_sales for test.sales ;
    select count(*) from flex_customers ;
    select count(*) from flex_sales ;
    drop synonym flex_customers ;
    drop synonym flex_sales ;
    Hope that helps,
    Stan

  • Change default schema

    HI All,
    We are in process of deploying "SAP Business Intelligence Adoption rapid-deployment solution" and we have a schema which is already created and didn't use the option "Allow multiple usage" during the time of creation, once we import modules provided by SAP there are some models which are named by SAP predefined schema,
    I need to know what is the role I need to grant to out BW developers to change the default schema of these models.
    Thanks in advance,
    Shanaka.

    All of the application data is in one schema. e.g. APPDATA. however I don't have the password for the APPDATA user, it is controlled by the DBAs. As a developer, I have a DEVUSER account and password. And the DEVUSER is configured with the appropriate access to the APPDATA schema by the DBAs.
    The way I work right now, I connect to the database using the DEVUSER username/password, and I can navigate to the APPDATA schema through the "Other Schemas". I would like an option in the Connection properties that I can specify that APPDATA is my default schema, and the DEVUSER schema would be accessible from "Other Schemas".
    I see this field as optional. If it is not entered, then the user's schema is used.
    I hope that better explains things.

  • Changing default schema

    Hi:
    I would like to know if there is a way to change the default schema a user references. For example, I login as user "bill" with a schema associated with that user. But I want to reference the tables in someone else's schema, maybe user joe's schema, as the default when I write my queries.
    I can do it with something like...
    select col1 from joe.tbl1 where col2 > 5;
    Is there a way to change the default schema to "joe" so that I don't have to prefix every table name reference with "joe."?
    Thanks in Advance

    You can use
    ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA = joe
    This will not give you any access to any object owned by joe that you could not already access by using joe.name, but you will not need to add the joe.

  • Change in the oracle 11g user default tablespace

    Hi All,
    Just wanted to clarify a satiuation where i had to change the default tablespace of an user/schema ( creating a new tablespace and assigning it to the user )   and take the export (expdp) of it,  and import back to the same user will it have all the objects  which were owned by that user before .
    1. create a new tablespace abc .
    2 Assigne that tablespace to an existing user/schema ( It has a different tablespace previously)
    3. expdp 'user'
    4.impdp 'user'
    will this retain all the objects of the user ?
    Any expert suggestion is highly apprciated .

    What prevents you from doing this yourself and seeing for yourself what the behavior is?   (How do you think the 'gurus' got to be 'gurus'?)
    If, after conducting your own test, you see behavior you don't understand, I'm sure someone here will help explain the behavior you observe vs the behavior you expected.

  • Want to change the default save location- users have networked home dirs

    I am doing some work for a school which is still using iMovie HD because it allows them to save their movie projects wherever they want. The issue is that iMovie 08 and 09 do not allow you to change the location in which they save their movies. Currently all users/students have network home folders, so their home directory, documents, etc all pull across the network. All students are limited to 1GB of space, and the system is an older G4 Server- 2GHz with 1GB of RAM and 2x 500GB hard drives. Since the students can make some large projects transferring that data back and forth can kill the server. Currently they are staying with iMovie HD so they can save it to the local hard drive, and when the student comes back in for class they sit at the same machine- thus giving them access to their stored movie files.
    This summer they plan to upgrade both Xserves, but again internal storage in the Xserve is a joke and in my opinion not planned out properly. Which might require them to use one of the Apple Promise RAID units- major financial burden on a school.
    I wanted to see if there was a way to change the default save location for iMovie 08 or 09 to the local storage rather then the "Home" folder for each user.
    Thanks so much!

    wrong info.
    iM08/09 has a different file concept than iMHD6.
    Both versions allow to store Events (=huge files) 'anywhere' to usb or firewire connected, hfs(+) formatted harddrives. the Project files (=small files) can be de-located from 'internal' drive with vers09, for 08 you have to use a socalled symLink to de-locate Project files.

  • Changing the default /Users location

    Hey guys,
    does anyone know a smart way to change the DEFAULT location of /Users in SL?
    I wan't to create a system image with /Users on a second partition,
    and i'm not talking about just ctrl-clicking an existing user and editing
    the account prefs
    Worked fine in 10.4 with NetInfo and in 10.5 with fstab/vifs.
    10.6 anyway always creates an alias to /Users,
    which i don't want because it makes our software-distribution go nuts.
    Any ideas?
    Would appreciate it...

    I edited /etc/fstab using vifs and added:
    /dev/disk0s3 /users hfs rw 1 2
    This is exactly what i did in 10.5 as well.
    SL mounts /users to the other partition just fine,
    but additionally it creates a link to /users on the system partition as well.
    I.e., on the system partition i have Applications, Library, System and so on
    AND a link to /user. That didn't happen in 10.5
    On the second partition i have all the users folder, just how i wanted it.
    I'm just curious why SL automatically creates that link
    when i change the mountpoint of /users.

  • Assigning a default schema to a user.

    In Oracle can I assign a default schema to a user without using the later session command?
    Is there a ALTER USER setting where I can assign a user a default schema?

    Buddy,
    To answer to your question.
    1. First grant select any table or "grant select on all tables of user 'ELLIPSE' to the user "094137".
    2. Later to access schema ELLIPSE's objects, from "094137" user, you ll have to create public synonym to all of the tables in ELLIPSE schema.
    3. This way, the user "094137" can access all tables in SCHEMA ELLIPSE, with out specifying(prefixing) the schema name
    Hope this helps
    Thanks
    I would like the user "094137" to logon and have access to the tables in another schema "ELLIPSE" with out qualifying the table name with "ELLIPSE".
    The user "094137" has no objects of her own and only accesses the object of the schema "ELLIPSE".
    Is there a direct way of assigning a user (with no objects) to have a default schema of another users (without the alter session default schema statement)

    The default user account picture is stored here.
    C:\programdata\Microsoft\User Account Pictures\user.bmp
    It should just be a matter have copying the picture you want to that location and over writing what is there.
    or....
    Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\User Accounts\Apply the default user logon picture to all users
    You can also configure this by a registry setting;
     [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
      UseDefaultTile = 1
    The picture that you configure, will not be loaded until the user account will actually be created on the pc. Meaning the first time a >new< user will log on to a pc, they will have no picture shown at all using their login screen (this is default
    behavior). Same will occur if you enable the policy don't display last user name. However, once they log in the picture will be shown in the start menu, and if they lock their pc the image will also be shown

  • How do I change the default timezone for user calendars?

    The default timezone for new calendars is "America/New_York." How

    Colin,
    You may substitute any text you like for the "Placeholder Text", as it is called, in Pages. Click on the existing placeholder text and type something more to your liking. Do this in as many places as your particular template of interest demands. Then, Format > Advanced > Define as Placeholder Text. Lastly, File > Save as Template.
    Now that you have defined a Custom Template to your liking, you can go to Pages Preferences and under the General tab's first section, define the new custom template as your default for each new document.

    George - Thanks you so much!  Actually, i'd love for the text color to be red font color.  Could you send me the script for that? And I assume I just copy and paste the script into the field properties (see screenshot)?

  • Is it possible to change the default "oraesb" database schema ?

    Wondering if it is possible to configure ESB to use a database schema other than the default one (i.e oraesb). Motivation: I have one database that I'd like to leverage for multiple mid-tier installations.
    From the IRCA script, I get the impression that this should be possible. If so, are any of these steps documented anywhere. Thanks.

    In theory yes, although I have never tried, nor probably recommend.
    Thinking about it, what you would need to do is install the SOA suite as you would normally using the default schema. Once installed and working copy the ORAESB schema into another schema of your choice.
    In the enterprise manaher you would need to change all the connection details to pount to the new schema. In the jdbc resources. Make sure that the names in the datasorce remain the same.
    I think it would be too dificult to do at install time.
    cheers
