Chapter management in iDVD8

The problem that I am having with iDVD8 is that I am creating DVDs of family videos shot on a DV cam. I imported the video into iMovie8 and edited it as I want. I exported the video in "Medium" size and was able to easily pull the video into iDVD8. Now, I want to set chapters for each of the events (about 8 in the 75 minutes of video) with each chapter representing the various events filmed. The only way I can find in iDVD8 to set chapters is to do it in specific periods of time (for example, set chapters every 5 mintues, every 6 minutes, every 7 minutes, etc.). Since the events are of varying time, the chapters fall in the middle of various events. If you want to see an event from the beginning, you have to rewind or fast forward to get to it. When I went to the Apple store and asked several people, they told me that manual management of chapters is no longer available and that I need to download and use iDVD6. Please tell me that I am overlooking something and just ran into the wrong people (yes, plural) to ask this question of at the store!!!!!!

As I told you in your other posting of this same question:
Nope. iDVD '08 changed the way chapters were generated in iDVD. Using iDVD they are time based only. It is possible to bring a movie from iMovie '08 into GarageBand to add chapter marks with more flexability. At present, if you want full flexabilty in chapter marks, use iDVD 6 (as suggested by the folks at the Apple Store).

is try to setup an evaluation scenario on the integration of BO Reports into Enterprise Portal according to this document:

My questions:
why (except authentication) do i need a SAP System and what makes a SAP System "appropriate"?
Whats about licensing? As i understand, BO users also need a user on the SAP System. What licenses are required for the SAP users?
In the scenario decribed above the Crystal Enterprise Server is a property of the of the SAP System object in SLD. Is there a way to connect the Business Objects Server directly without a SAP System?

sorry, but with our discussion we are totally on the wrong track. My problem is not authentication. Instead, ist's how to use the BO masterview iview. To use it, i have to configure the "BusinessObjects Enterprise server entry point". This entry point in turn is a subset of configuring a SAP system in SLD.
The point of my question was: How can integrate BO in the portal without having a SAP system. As i understand it, i need a SAP system to use the BO masterview iview. But what is the technical need for the SAP system?
In the end the question was: Wy i can't configuring the BO server directly in the SLD?

How to Change Fonts in Oracle Reports

Hi All,
When ever i am changing fonts in my report it reflects me when i run them on reports builder installed on my local machine.
But when i put them on application server, these changes are not reflected. I am generating PDF reports.
Can some body help me what should i need to do to reflect the font changes.

Hi Kamal,
Whether the font used in the report is installed in the machine where Apps server is installed? If not , use the feature ' PDF Aliasing' to substitue for that particular font.

Need Help in Data migration from standard 10g to standard to 11g RAC

We are running an application in Standard 10g (Not RAC). Our service provider has installed a fresh standard 11g RAC and did not transfer the data from 10g to 11g RAC.
I want to migrate the 10g data to 11g RAC.
I wanted to know the followings
1) Easy data transfer technique (Data Pump or RMAN) & How do I do that (Steps)
2) How to backup the fresh 11g RAC (In case of errors in data transfer process to recover the base) (How to do)
Appreciate your help as I only have average knowledge in DBA.

Using dblinks to access CLOB datatype

Hi ,
I am using dblink to access data data from remote database. I need to access data form a table on remote database which have fields of type VARCHAR2 and CLOB. Since I can't access CLOB data directly through dblinks, i created a view for that CLOB datatype. Now when I try to retrieve the data from remote tab1 by joining that view and tab1 ,I am getting the error
ORA-22992: cannot use LOB locators selected from remote tables .
But if I retrieve the data from view alone, I am able to retrieve the information.
And if try to access the varchar2 field alone using dblinks that also will work. But if I combine both the view and same table used in that view, it doesn't work.
I think this can be solved by puting all the required fields(CLOB and non-CLOB) in view. In real situation, the number of fileds that will not have CLOB datatype in tab1 is high.
Can someone tell some suggestion on how to resolve this?

How to select a LOB column over a database link?
(A) You cannot actually select a lob column (i.e. CLOB column) from a table

In short, you cannot select a lob column using remote dblink. You have to use
DBMS_LOB package in a programming language like PL/SQL, JAVA to manipulate LOB
data.

How to put debug logs?

I am building a webcenter portal using Oracle Webcenter 11.1.1.1.5 and deploying on Oracle Weblogic Server 11g. Please suggest what is the best practice to use for application debug logs. Should I use log4j or Apache commons library? Is it possible to manage the logs (enable/ disable/ change severity) of the logs using WLS admin console?

In a production (or even test environment) you can use the enterprise manager of weblogic to analyse the error log files. I believe this is done by using Log4j.
For each application you can request the logs based upon severity.

I can't seem to find the documentation about the enterprise manager... I'll see if i can find the documentation and update the post.

Problem creating mailing list with Server Console

Hi,
when I create a new mailing list, I do the following:
1. Right click on groups folder in Console
2. Choose New->Group
3. Entering all data and checking "Mail Account" under Account
The documentation sais, that a Mail-tab should now appear. But this is not the case for me!?
I can only create the group like this and have to add the attribute "mail" - to enter an email address - manually..
Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong or missing something? Also disallowing posting on this group can only be set manually. Shouldnt all this be done using a nice GUI dialog?
I'm using Directory Server 5.2 Patch 2. Also tried 5.2 Patch 4. Both same problem.

As you can remember in earlier versions to Oracle 10g, there used to be a tool named "netmgr" which was very helpful to manage the listener an tnsnames configuration through a application (which allows also to test connections), instead of manipulating this files manually.
My question is if the newest versions of DB client (including XE) includes any kind of Oracle Net Manager? I've downloaded and installed the Oracle XE Client, nevertheless, at first sight it doesn't have any kind of net mananger tool, and the web site does not specific information about it.

Oracle Net Manager is not part of XE.

Profiles not working as expected

I have created a simple publication for a webi report using efashion uiniverse. It's in BO 4.0. I have created 2 profiles. One is State=California and another is Month= 2. If I add any one of the profile to the publication, it works fine.
Example:
Case 1: when I add the profile state=california to the publication, i get data for only state=California.
Case 2: If i remove the profile state=california and add profile month= 2 to the publication , then i get data only for month=2.
Case 3: Now if I add both the profiles state=california and month=2, i get data for sate=california and for all the months. The profile month=2 doesn't get applied.
what's happening is that the profile which is added first is getting processed while the profile added second is not working. If I add the profile month=2 first and then profile state=california, then only month =2 gets applied and not state=california.
Is there any settings that may be causing this behaviour?

Can any one tell me how to change the port that my_app run on from 7778 to 80.
So that the link to my_app will be:

You need to read the Oracle® Application Server 10g Administrator's Guide of your installation, which is also available online. In particular, for 9.0.4, you need to read the chapter Managing ports. Basically you need to change your web-cache listener port if web-cache is installed; otherwise you need to change Oracle HTTP Server Port.
Also note tht port 80 requires extra steps since it is a restricted port.

EXS24 - Übertragen von Sampler Intstruments von alt zu neuem Computer

Ich habe Logic auf meinem neuen Mac mini installiert. Nun habe ich versucht die eigen erstellten Sampler Instruments vom alten Mac auf den neuen Mac mini zu übertragen.
Im Deutschen Manual Kapitel 25 ab Seite 444 wird zwar beschrieben wie man eigene Sampler Instrumente ins EXS 24 Menu integrieren kann. Es wird jedoch nicht beschrieben, wie die dazugehörigen Samples übertragen werden müssen. Lade ich nun ein entsprechendes Instrument, findet Logic die dazugehörigen Samples nicht automatisch. Ausser nun in jedem Sampler Instrument die Samples manuell einzeln neu zu verknüpfen finde ich keine effiziente Möglichkeit die dazugehörigen Samples neu zu verknüpfen.
Wer kennt sich da aus?

English Translation
I bought a new Mac mini. In installed Logic 8 (I dont upgraded yet) inkl. the EXS24 Sampler. Of course my own created (or imported) Sampler Instruments form my old Mac Book Pro are not installed. So Iooked at the Manual and I found the chapter "Manageing of Sampler-Instruments" were it is described how to add the Sampler Instrument to the Menue of the EXS24. This I could handle.
But it is not described how to place the Samples of the so transferred Sampler Instruments. Besides open an instrument an manually adding every single samples new (neverless to overcome a long time out searching logic for the samples) I did not find an efficient way how to reassign these samples.
Do you know how to proceed.

What is new with MAX 2.0 and is it compatible with Session Manager?

We added non-IVI instrument information in, basically the same structure as for IVI instruments,
into the ivi.ini file to keep all instrument information in the same place. Using MAX Version 1.1 caused no problems whatsoever and the system worked fine. With the advent of MAX 2.0 you seem to use ivi.ini as well as config.mxs to store instrument information. What we have found now is that given a working ivi.ini file from MAX 1.1, we end up with 2 or 3 copies of all the devices in the IVI Instruments->Devices section! When the duplicate entries are deleted and the application exited, the
ivi.ini file is updated minus the [Hardware->] sections which contain the resource descriptors that our appl
ications look for. As an added complication, under MAX 2.1 (From an evaluation of the Switch Executive) It behaves the same, except that it almost always crashes with one of the following errors. 'OLEChannelWnd Fatal Error', or 'Error#26 window.cpp line 10028 Labview Version 6.0.2' Once opened and closed MAX 2.1 will not open again! (Note we do not have LabVIEW on the system.) What is the relationship between the config.mxs and ivi.ini now? Also, your Session Manager application (for use with TestStand) extracts information from ivi.ini and may expect entries to be manually entered into ivi.ini (e.g. NISessionManager_Reset = True) i.e. Is the TestStand Session Manager compatible with MAX 2.0?

The primary difference between MAX 1.1 and 2.x is that there is a new internal architecture. MAX 2.x synchronizes data between the config.mxs and the ivi.ini. The reason you're having trouble is that user-editing of the ivi.ini file is not supported with MAX 2.x.
Some better solutions to accomplish what you want:
1. Do as Mark Ireton suggested in his answer
2. Use the IVI Run-Time Configuration functions. They will allow you to dynamically configure your Logical Names, Virtual Instruments, Instrument Drivers, and Devices. You can then use your own format for storing and retrieving that information, and use the relevant pieces for each execution. You can find information on these functions in the IVI CVI Help file located in Start >> National I
nstruments >> IVI Driver Toolset folder. Go to the chapter on Run-time Initialization Configuration.
I strongly suggest #2, because those functions will continue to be supported in the future, while other mechanisms may not be.

Went back and put a small split in the timeline in fcp and exported to mpeg 2 again and auto function does not see that either? Manual msays to manualy enter split poind in DVDSP but can't find any way to enter that split point in DVDSP? How can I manualy enter a split point in DVDSP 3 or 4?

Do you have any OS hacks installed on your computer or have you changed the mouse behavior in system preferences: mouse? If not, I'd suggest you run digital rebellions preference manager and reset your dvdsp preferences.
