Characteristic in COPA

We have sales district as one of our characteristics. I think it is std. SAP delivered. It is mapped from KNVV table. I need it from VBKD (transactional). Its not allowing me to create one as there is one already exists. How do I do that? Is this sales district characteristic from KNVV is std SAP delivered?
Other issue is we need to create custom characteristic for customer hierarchy from VDH1 transaction. Table looks like KNVH , I tried creating a derivation rule but no luck. In the source fields of derivation rule, there is a field for start of validity period, I am not sure what to map it to. I did some testing with different dates n formats but no luck. I doubt this might be the issue for not getting the value to COPA. Please advice.

Hello,
I managed to configure it in KEDR as user-defined step, using Step type "Customer hierarchy", where you have options for table look up or Enhancement, choose Customer Hierarchy".
Then in the source fields select many:
VKORG
VTWEG
SPART
KNDNR
HIE06
HIE05
HIE04
HIE03
HIE02
and in Target fields add these:
HIE06
HIE05
HIE04
HIE03
HIE02
depends on how many hierarchy levels you have.We have 6 levels.
Choose "Overwrite with new value only if new value found to allow you to reprocess a billing if the Customer hierarchy is missing in the COPA docs posted so far!
I have the issue that initially I have selected "DO NOT Overwrite with new value if field already filled" and now I can not reprocess the billing via KE4S and can not fix the missing customer hierarchy characteristics derived so far!
Someone has clue about how to change it in "Customer hierarchy" derivation in KEDR?
It simply has no change mode, all in grey...
Thanks and regards,
Svetlana

  • Adding Material Type as a characteristic in COPA

    Hi,
I would like to add Material type (like FERT, HALB and so on) as a characteristic in COPA.
Is there a standard characteristic of this kind delivered by SAP??
If I have to create it myself - which table and field is it? Where would the system take this info from? Material master??
    Thx for help,
    Best wishes,
    Karol

    Hi Karol,
You have to create a characterstic Material type and derive teh value of this charasterstic from table lookup uisng MARA table and field MTART.
    Hope this will help you..

  • COPA - How to add table when create new characteristic

    Hi all,
I want to create new characteristic in COPA, that is batch (as currently, FG's price is manged by batch).
I find that this value is maintain in table VBRP. However, when I create new characteristic, I dont is this table in current list.
Please tell me how can I  add this table ?
Step by step what I did is:
    1.KEA5: create new characteristic
    2. enter characteristic name
    3. choose "transfer from SAP table"
    4. because it doesnt have table VBRP in the this, so I type directly "Table Fields --> Table"
    5. Systems show mesg "Enter valid reference table"
Please tell me how can I  add this table ?

    Hi Emily,
Pls check the SAP Note 111232 which gives similar solution that of you are looking for...
    Follow the procedure...
Please create a characteristic by transferring it from table VBRP and
then change the automatically from system defined TKEZU entries like
    the note 111232 explains.
The way to solve the problem would be to change the assignment
table TKEZU by exchanging VBRP with KOMP in the table name:
    (1) Delete the following entry in table TKEZU (you can maintain TKEZU
with view V_TKEZU in transaction SM30):
Characteristic, B Tran, Table, Field name, Offset, Length
    (2) Add the following entry to table TKEZU:
Characteristic, B Tran, Table, Field name, Offset, Length
    XXXXX KEDR KOMP BWTAR
    (3) Generate the environment of your operating concern.
    Pls revert with result...

  • Characteristic updation in copa

    Hi All,
Please help me in updating characteristic in COPA document
Client Requirement is: They want Date of Sale should be updated in copa document. Date of sale is document date in the sales order.
My issue: How should I update this date into copa document.
Because the document date in VBAP table is grey so I cannot use this feild.
Please tell me the solution for the same.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Reva.

    Hi,
SAP strongly recommends not to use any date as a characteristic. The CE4XXXX (XXXX = operating concern) table basically holds a unique PA segment no for a unique combination of characteristics
. For example let us say you have only 2 characteristics customer and product. Then let us say for customer 1 and product 1 you have PA no 1; for customer 2 and product 2 PA no 2 and so on. Every time you post a document with customer 1 and product 1 the same PA no 1 will be reused
i.e. no new entry will be made to CE4.
Now if you were to introduce a new characteristic called date in this table then every time the date changes a new PA no will have to be generated and the entries in CE4 table will grow. This will make
reporting more difficult and will also cause performance problems.
The harm caused by this characteristic on your performance will far outweigh any benefits that it might have on your profitability analysis.
I request you to think of dropping the idea of having this characteristic. The final decision is yours.
    regards
    Waman

  • Split Valuation Material Cost Estimate into COPA

    Hi all,
Is there any way how we can transfer the split valuation material cost estimate into COPA?
I checked the actual line items, there is no "valuation type / batch" characteristics there.
    Is this the main cause?
Please kindly suggest on the best way to solve this issue
    Thank you very much
    Regards, Erwin

    Hi, Ajay
Does this mean that, even though i manage to create the valuation type as characteristic in COPA, i won't be able to get 2 different cost estimate based on valuation type into COPA?
Hm, then, are there any solutions which can be done to solve this issue?
The client needs a COPA report which can show the breakdown of the sold materials cost estimates
As usual, thank you very much for your help

  • Billible service in case (ISH) as a profitability analysis characteristic

We have implemented Case Costing Level 2 in order to analyze case costs
    in CO-PA.
We wanted to define the billable service as a characteristic in COPA in
order to have the ability to get a P&L (profit and loss) for each
service and service group (according to the defined value fields in
    COPA).
We have defined the case based order as real order with a settlement
rule to a profitability segment. Is it possible to distribute revenue
and case costs to PA between the different billable services in the
    case?.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Ajay,
Thank you for the quick update.
The document is updated to COPA through OKB9 settings. The profitability segment is updated with fields like customer, product, company code, plant, sales area data, profit center, etc; however the sales order number is missing.
Could you please elaborate further how could FI substitution be implemented to call for the FM COPA_PROFITABILITY_SEGMENT through user exit? Are you recommending the substitution through GGB1? What could be the possible validation to call for the user exit to be implemented?

  • COPA - characteristics

    Hello,
I was wondering, is there a way to "derive" only part of a characteristic to another characteristic in COPA. Let's say we have a product hierarchy PP123AB in one characteristic and we want to split it into 3 different characteristics:
    characteristic1: PP
    characteristic2: 123
    characteristic3: AB
    Thanks,
    Anne

Table lookups let you read individual records of any table to determine characteristic values. Here the source fields must make up the key of a specific table, from which the system can copy certain contents to the target fields.
Create a custom table which shall host the product hierarchy as the key field. Have additional fields that parse the key field with selected digits to populate the remaining required fields. What I mean is like this
    ZTABLE
    Product Hierarchy|    Category|  BRAND| Division
    PP12345ALPHA   |     PP          |  12345  | ALPHA
Developers can help you build this table. You may need to set up a business process to update this table as and when required.

  • Values for Characteristics in COPA

    Hello Gurus,
If we have maintained the possible values for a characteristic in COPA, is it possible to have other values.  For example, in our scenario, Brand is a characteristic and we are deriving it from the classification view in Material Master. In that case, is it necessary to maintain Values for this Characteristic in COPA. Is there any necessity to maintain the possible values in separate Table.
    Please Advise.
    Thanks
    PM

    Hi Praveen
when you create a WW char in COPA, you have 2 options (2 radio buttons) i.e. With own value Maintenance and w/o Own value Maintenance....
If you choose with own value maintenance, then you need to maintain permitted char values (brand values) in KES1... If you choose "w/o own...", then you need not

  • Sales Office - Characteristic

I have defined Sales Office as a Characteristic in COPA.  But in the report execution, only a few are coming in the display while others are not appearing in the report.  There are already invoices for all these sales offices.  Why this is happening ?

    Hi Nikitha
You mentioned that in few cases the sales office is being displayed.
As mentioned by sreekanth check whether any COPA document is posted.
If a COPA document is posted, then you may check whether the original document (sales order) has the sales office maintained in the sales order header.
Also check characteristic derivation table lookup, check whether field VBAK-VKBUR is maintained in "Assignment of Table fields to Target Fields"
You may also try with transaction KE4fF - Prepare subsequent postig of sales orders or transaction KE4T - Post sales orders subsequently (as per the case)
Read the documentation for these tcodes under the following path.
Profitability Analysis--> Tools --> Production Startup --> Subsequent Posting of SD Documents --> Prepare Subsequent Posting of Sales Orders (KE4F) / Post Sales Orders Subsequently (KE4T)
I hope this helps in your analysis.

  • COPA Re-alignement

    Hi All,
I have a field PSPNR(Wbs Element) in COPA records. There are couple of documents which are already posted to COPA and the wbs element field got updated.
Now, I have created a new characteristic in COPA and I have created  a derivation for the same to capture only first 9 numbers of wbs element (PSPNR) to the newly created Characteristic.
My question is how can I update the new characteristic field for documents which are already posted to COPA? Is it possible through KEND (Realignment). If yes, please advise how to create the realignment request for the same.
    Any response relevent is appriciated.
    Thanks,
    Kumar.

    Hi Kumar,
Note 94458 will give some insight to KEND. Yes you are correct that KEND is the programe to be used in your case. If you want to populate afterwards some characteristics that have newly been added to the operating concern in the old profitability
segment numbers already existing you have to use the realignment tool (transaction KEND).
But realignment will only be successful if it is possible to derive the new characteristic values somehow from the current data
of the profitability segment number - in other words it depends on your settings in transaction KEQ3 (whether the sales order number is 'used' or not, whether the material is 'used' or not etc.). In case that all this information is missing in the CE4 segment numbers, the same segment number can be used for different sales orders or billing documents so that it is impossible to derive the data from one single billing.
That is, new characteristic should be filled by realignment if it can be derived on the base of characteristics that are already filled even in the "old" CE4 segment numbers.
The realignment only changes the characteristic values according the definitions in the realignment request in the table CE4xxxx (Segment table) and NOT in the CE1xxxx (actual line items) or CE2xxxx (plan line items).
Please also note that only the characteristics activated in transaction KEQ3 can be used in realignments.
A realignment is only carried out on those profitability segments which meet the selection criteria for that request. These are defined in the selection criteria. This criteria must be true for a PA segment before it is changed by the realignment.
To run the realignment successfully, the following conditions have to be fulfilled:
    1) The system should find an entry in table CE4xxxx which meets the  selection criteria.
    2) The source fields of the derivation steps which should be performed  by the realignment run must not be initial.
    3) During the realignment the first successful derivationstep overwrites  any existing values for that characteristic. This is different  from how derivation works when posting actual or plan data.
Sometimes it happens that characteristics are not corrected during the realignment. The realignment can be carried out only under the following conditions successfully:
       -  Characteristics were used in the 'Selection' which are not  filled in table CE4xxxx (possible cause: in transaction KEQ3
flag 'Not used' is set for the characteristic).
       -  If characteristics are supposed to be derived again in the  realignment, the source fields of the corresponding derivation
steps must be filled in table CE4xxxx. The realignment change  only changes the characteristic contents in table CE4xxxx. The  characteristic values in the line items (CE1xxxx) are not  changed. The realignment change (realignment run) can be
tested. Select the realignment run in transaction KEND and choose 'Test monitor' (F8).
    Please, check attached notes 524590, 553626, 122578, 438077 and 407446.
Finally you should not directly go in to the table and change the data. As I told you realignment does not affect the CE1 or CE2 table. It's only CE4 table that is update. But this doesn't mean that you will not be able to see the realigned data in KE24.
In transaction KE24 you may also display the results of realignments by choosing the option 'Read acc. to current structure' instead of 'Read as posted'. This will make the system read table CE1XXXX and additionally CE4XXXX and if the characteristic values in table CE4XXXX are different from CE1XXXX then the values of table CE4XXXX are displayed. As to note 407446 it should be not advisable to update table CE1XXXX because of the large amount of data overhead produced by
a reversal logic like in release 3.1I. Furthermore if postings are performed that affect already posted line items like the reversal of an FI document, which causes the system reverse CO-PA line items, also table CE1XXXX and CE4XXXX are read, i.e. realignments are taken into account here as well.
You can find further information in SAP Online Help under: Controlling -> Profitability Analysis -> Master Data -> Realignment
I hope this clarifies your issue. Please let me know if I can provide any further help on this.
    Kind Regards,
    Abhisek Patnaik,
    Please, check attached notes 524590, 553626, 122578, 438077
    and 407446.
Finally you should not directly go in to the table and change the data.
As I told you realignment does not affect the CE1 or CE2 table.
It's only CE4 table that is update. But this doesn't mean that you will
not be able to see the realigned data in KE24.

  • Transfering material type to COPA

    Hi everyone:
I need to transfer the material type as a characteristic to COPA (MTART field) but this field is not contained in the billing document that is transferred from SD, I only see it in table MARA, Is there a way to send this information to COPA as a part of the billing data?
    Thanks in advance
    Susanna

    Hi,
You can create the charecteristic Material Type from KEA5. Double click on any charecteristic and click on Create button. You will be asked for Table name. Enter the table MARA and select the Field MTART and save.
Now you can add this charecteristic from Operating Concern Generation Manu. KEA0 is the T Code. Click on Change Button.
You will be carried to charecteristic tab page. Now add the char. which you have created. Add and save it
Now generate the operating concern again
