Charset in SDK 1.4
In SDK1.4, I am able to create a UTF8 charset object by the following:
Charset.forName("UTF8")
However, I would also like to create other charsets like BIG5, GBK, SJIS, etc.
I get a java.nio.charset.UnsupportedCharsetException when I use
Charset.forName("Big5") / Charset.forName("GBK") / Charset.forName("SJIS")
How can I obtain support for the other charsets? From http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/guide/intl/encoding.doc.html, I guess that I need the i18n.jar. But I don't have it... Where can I obtain this file?
Seems that the encodings are still not supported in SDK1.4.0

When I installed it it installed 'successfully' and then I double clicked the file on the desktop (I'm using Windows Vista 32bit Home premium) and it gave me the following error when saying 'Starting Modules':-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error in SDK 1.4.0 SSL
Hi,
I have an application running on Linux Slackware 8.1, using SDK 1.4.0
Every couple of days this error occurs, and the server dies (which is really bad for something I want to just sit there, and do stuff without needing to baby sit it).
This error does not occur with any other Platform that it has been run on however, and it seems to be a pretty low level error.
Can someone explain to me what this error is, and whether upgrading to SDK 1.4.1 would correct it? (I could not find any similar errors in the Bug database :( )
Thanks :)Sorry, forgot to paste the error.
The error I got was:
Unexpected Signal : 11 occurred at PC=0x403F2089
Function=is_address__C11LIR_OprDesc+0x21
Library=/home/database/j2sdk1.4.0/jre/lib/i386/client/libjvm.so

(now .. I know I dropped my mind here somewhere .. I wonder where it is..) -
I want to migrate from NetBeans 6.7.1 to Java ME SDK 3.0 for several reasons.
However when trying to start it hangs for a couple of minutes and then this message come up in a pop-up box:
"A java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException exception has occurred. Click Show Details or see the messages.log file located in your C:\Documents and Settings\admin\javame-sdk\toolbar\3.0\var\log folder."
Log file contant here. I' have read the UsersManual but this seems different.
I run Windows XP Pro SP3. I have a F-Secure Internet 2010 FW application. Please enlighten me on what setting I shoud set in the FW or other part of my system.

I am testing BOE 4.0 with a simple jsp based on the samples. The code is what I used to test BOE xi 3.1. But I ran into some report display inconsistencies with 3.1 so I am trying 4.0. The code below works in 3.1 But in 4.0, I get the report viewer screen coming up but get a null pointer exception coming to the screen.

Call any one of the methods

Do not use both in BI 4.x version.
Test the same and let me know if it works.

Question about use Windows Installer SDK
Hi,
I want to Use C# code to read .MSP file and get inside file list. Such as: you can get a hotfix from here
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3000847 and after extract the exe you can get a .MSP file. And 3 DLL files are including in the .MSP file.
What I want is Use C# code to read the .MSP file and get the 3 DLL file name. Here is how to read it with C++:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa816375%28v=vs.85%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
But I don't konw about C++, So I'm trying use C# code to call Windows SDK. And I import the Windows SDK code into C# like below:
[DllImport("msi",
CharSet = CharSet.Auto)]
internal
static
extern
uint MsiGetPatchFileList(string
szProductCode, string szPatchList,
out
uint cFiles,
out
IntPtr phFileRecords);
My question is that: How to get the parameter information, such as
szProductCode. How to read the file information from phFileRecords in C# code?

Hello,
For MSI APIs, you could refer to
Installer Function Reference
It has helped us separate them to multiple parts. Like for getting product code, we could refer to
Product Query Functions part, like the
MsiGetProductProperty .
For getting file information, then refer to File Query Functions
part.

Carl

After some investigation of the other policies and commands I found these
translate calls inside the method getContrainsFor. I tried to understand
their work and copied some lines to my code. After some modifications i
finally reduced it to one call of translateToRelative.
protected Command getMoveBendpointCommand(BendpointRequest request) {
Point p = request.getLocation();
getConnection().translateToRelative(p);
return new MyMoveBendpointCommand(
(SimpleConnection)request.getSource().getModel(),
request.getIndex(), p);
After reading the chapter about coordinate systems in the Draw2D guide
twice i understand the problem. SWT and Draw2D use different coordinate
systems and the translate calls delivers the correct coordinates.

Not really. I thought if i use absolute bendpoints the translation is not
necessary.
Anyway, thank you.

Help: jTDS doesn't work with j2ee sdk 1.4
Hello there!
I'm wonrking with Win2k sp4, MS-Sql Server 7 and j2ee sdk 1.4 (the newest release).
I'm trying to use the jTDS JDBC driver to access a MSSql database. This is the connection pool configuration:
<jdbc-connection-pool connection-validation-method="auto-commit" datasource-classname="net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbcx.TdsDataSource" fail-all-connections="false" idle-timeout-in-seconds="300" is-connection-validation-required="false" is-isolation-level-guaranteed="false" max-pool-size="32" max-wait-time-in-millis="60000" name="cmc" pool-resize-quantity="2" res-type="javax.sql.DataSource" steady-pool-size="8">
<description>mydb</description>
<property name="DatabaseName" value="mydb"/>
<property name="LoginTimeout" value="6000"/>
<property name="Password" value="mypass"/>
<property name="User" value="myuser"/>
<property name="PortNumber" value="1433"/>
<property name="ServerName" value="localhost"/>
</jdbc-connection-pool>
I set up the configuration and restarted the server. I put the jtds-0.7.1.jar file on
c:\sun\appserver\domains\domain1\lib folder and restarted the server. I've checked for the port 1433 and it's working fine.
but when I ping, I always get the same error: Operation 'pingConnectionPool' failed in 'resources' Config Mbean.
I'm getting nuts trying to solve this problem and I don't get it!.
Please, any help would be appreciatted!!
ThanxHey! Alin! Thankyou!
I finally solved the problem with your responses!!!
I downloaded the final RC version of jTDS (0.8). I copyed the JAR file in c:\sun\appserver\domains\domain1\lib
The final configuration in the domain.xml is:
<description>mydb</description>
<property name="DatabaseName" value="mydb"/>
<property name="LoginTimeout" value="6000"/>
<property name="Password" value="mypass"/>
<property name="User" value="myuser"/>
<property name="PortNumber" value="1433"/>
<property name="ServerName" value="localhost"/>
<property name="Server_type" value="sqlserver"/> <--- VERY IMPORTANT
<property name="Charset" value="Unidoce"/> <--- VERY IMPORTANT
</jdbc-connection-pool>
An now it's pinging without problems!!!
My only concern is that "Unicode" is a valid value for the "charset" property.

UnsupportedEncodingException in JRE only and not with SDK
Hi,
I am running my Java program as a application in Win NT run time environment and the app uses JConnect 5.2 as its JDBC driver. JDBC connection is succesful but a query fails for the "UnsupportedEncodingException" error listed below. I don't get the same error if I use SDK version of Java.exe but I get the error only with the java.exe of the JRE.
What is different in the Run time environment. Any solutions?
Error: java.sql.SQLException: JZ006: Caught IOException:
java.io.IOException: JZ0I6: An error occured converting UNICODE to the
charset used by the server. Error message: java.io.CharConversionException:
java.io.UnsupportedEncodingException: Cp437
Thanks,
BalaMy guess is that you use the US English version of the JRE which only have the basic encodings. If you use the International version, it should work. Check

I/o streams and charsets....
Sorry for posting this in two forums but I got no response in the reg java forum....either my question is too advanced or no one knows??
I was wondering if anyone could help clairify something for me. I don't really know how the character sets work so by all means let me know if my thinking is all wrong. Sorry in advance for long post.
Say user 1 has a system default charset of ASCII. They write a message in a JTextArea and hit the save button. The pgm calls JTextArea.write(myFileWriter) which saves the text to a file (using system default charset). They send the file to another user whose default charset is UTF-16. If the pgm simply loads the file into the JTextArea using JTextArea.read(myFileReader), wouldn't the text message get jumbled up? The UTF-16 machine would be reading two bytes per character when in fact the file was written out as 1 byte per character. Same is true the other way around. When the ASCII user loaded a UTF-16 file, it would treat each byte as 1 character when in fact two bytes represent one character. That is where the confusion is.
The only way I could see to control this was to have a rule that says the files will always be in a specific format, say ASCII? Then before writing the contents to file, I would call String.getBytes("ASCII") on the of the JTextArea -- when doing this on the UTF-16 machine, I assume if it encountered a char whose value was > 255 it would simply convert it to some char like "?" whose value was <= 255 so it would fit in 8 bits? Then write that byte[] to the output stream.
Then to load the file, instead of using JTextArea.read(), I would have to read the bytes into a byte array then create a new String using String(byte[], "ASCII") and pass that to the JTextArea?
Any dropped information from the UTF-16 file would simply show up as "?" on the ASCII machine. On the UTF-16 machine, everything would look fine? No double spaced characters or such?
Is there another way? Anyone????
Jimwouldn't the text message get jumbled up?Yes, I agree
I assume if it encountered a char whose value was > 255 it would simply convert it to some char like "?" whose value was <= 255 so it would fit in 8 bits?Values in the ASCII character set are 7 bits. When a Unicode character is converted to an ASCII character, a value > 127 is converted to 63. 63 == ?.
Any dropped information from the UTF-16 file would simply show up as "?" on the ASCII machine.Yes
I assume then that my thinking is correct...unless there is some conversion going on, the text will not show up correctly on the different machines?Yes
files will be written out/saved in a predefined format: 8 bits per character.ASCII characters are 7 bits, whereas ISO-8859-1 (ISO Latin Alphabet No. 1, a.k.a ISO-LATIN-1) are 8-bits. You might consider using the ISO-8859-1 character set. According to the Charset API documentation, every implementation of the Java Platform is required to support US-ASCII and ISO-8859-1.
FYI, I found the following document called Supported Encodings in the SDK, C:\j2sdk1.4.0\docs\guide\intl\encoding.doc.html
but I am also curious about the actual conversion process from unicode to bytes? Is my thinking correct in that if the unicode character is too "large" to fit in 8 bits (byte) the system just defaults to some byte value?I havent read the source code, but according to my experiments, when I convert from Unicode to ASCII, values > 127 are converted to 63.
Also, according to my experiments, if a byte has a value between 0x80 and 0xff (unsigned 128 and 255), an attempt to convert from ASCII to Unicode results in a value of 65533 (no typo here, not 65535).
When responding to this thread, I had to make some simple programs to simulate writing/reading sending/receiving and converting character sets to make sure what I am saying is correct. Here is an idea for your own inquiries.
import java.nio.charset.Charset;
import java.io.*;
class Test {
Charset cs = Charset.forName("ASCII");
void m() {
char c = (char)('x' + 20); //120 + 20 > 127
System.out.println((int)c);
ByteArrayOutputStream bout = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
OutputStreamWriter out = new OutputStreamWriter(bout, cs);
try {
out.write(c);
out.flush();
} catch (IOException e) {
return;
byte[] b = bout.toByteArray();
System.out.println(b[0]);
ByteArrayInputStream bin = new ByteArrayInputStream(b);
InputStreamReader in = new InputStreamReader(bin);
try {
int i = in.read();
System.out.println((char)i);
} catch (IOException e) {
return;
public static void main(String[] args) {
new Test().m();
}Also, I found this helpful.
import java.nio.charset.Charset;
import java.util.SortedMap;
import java.util.Set;
import java.util.Iterator;
class Test {
void m() {
SortedMap m = Charset.availableCharsets();
Set s = m.keySet();
Iterator it = s.iterator();
while (it.hasNext()) {
System.out.println((String)it.next());
public static void main(String[] args) {
new Test().m();
}And this.
import java.nio.charset.Charset;
import java.util.Set;
import java.util.Iterator;
class Test {
void m(String name) {
Charset s = Charset.forName(name);
System.out.println("display name= " + s.displayName());
Set aliases = s.aliases();
Iterator it = aliases.iterator();
while (it.hasNext()) {
String x = (String)it.next();
System.out.println("alias= " + x);
public static void main(String[] args) {
if (args.length > 0) new Test().m(args[0]);

Print a report in crystal Report using SDK
Hi Dear;
any body can publish a sample code how can i print a report built in crystal report using SDK?
regards;Hi Dany,
Hope the following code will help u .
before calling the function make a XML by using dataset.writexml, in which you have to pass the name of your stored procedure.
for this you have to decalre commantype as stored procedure.
first parameter of this is rpt name . asecon paramer is ur xml name which you got from DAtaset.writexml.
Sub ShowReport(ByVal rptName As String, ByVal SourceXML As String)
Try
Dim oSubReport As CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.SubreportObject
Dim rptSubReportDoc As CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
Dim rptView As New CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms.CrystalReportViewer
Dim rptPath As String = System.Windows.Forms.Application.StartupPath & "\" & rptName
Dim rptDoc As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
rptDoc.Load(rptPath)
For Each oMainReportTable As CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table In rptDoc.Database.Tables
oMainReportTable.Location = System.Windows.Forms.Application.StartupPath & "\" & SourceXML
Next
For Each rptSection As CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Section In rptDoc.ReportDefinition.Sections
For Each rptObject As CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportObject In rptSection.ReportObjects
If rptObject.Kind = CrystalDecisions.Shared.ReportObjectKind.SubreportObject Then
oSubReport = rptObject
rptSubReportDoc = oSubReport.OpenSubreport(oSubReport.SubreportName)
For Each oSubTable As CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table In rptSubReportDoc.Database.Tables
oSubTable.Location = System.Windows.Forms.Application.StartupPath & "\" & SourceXML
Next
End If
Next
Next
rptView.ReportSource = rptDoc
rptView.Show()
Dim oFrm As New System.Windows.Forms.Form
rptView.DisplayGroupTree = False
rptView.Dock = System.Windows.Forms.DockStyle.Fill
rptView.Location = New System.Drawing.Point(0, 0)
oFrm.AutoScaleBaseSize = New System.Drawing.Size(5, 13)
oFrm.Controls.Add(rptView)
oFrm.Name = "rptForm"
oFrm.Text = "rptForm"
oFrm.ResumeLayout(False)
oFrm.WindowState = System.Windows.Forms.FormWindowState.Maximized
oFrm.TopMost = True
oFrm.ShowDialog()

Is there a way to create a virtual network using C# and the Azure SDK/API?
I don't see a clear way to create an Azure Virtual Network using the SDK.
I have all the methods to create the virtual network configuration, but no way to submit it:
IList<string> VirtualNetworkAddressPrefixes = new List<string>();
IList<string> LocalNetworkAddressPrefixes = new List<string>();
IList<NetworkListResponse.DnsServer> DNSServers = new List<NetworkListResponse.DnsServer>();
IList<NetworkListResponse.Subnet> Subnets = new List<NetworkListResponse.Subnet>();
NetworkListResponse.Gateway Gateway = new NetworkListResponse.Gateway();
IList<NetworkListResponse.LocalNetworkSite> LocalSites = new List<NetworkListResponse.LocalNetworkSite>();
IList<NetworkListResponse.Connection> Connections = new List<NetworkListResponse.Connection>();
VirtualNetworkAddressPrefixes.Add("a.b.c.d/cidr");
DNSServers.Add(new NetworkListResponse.DnsServer() { Name = "TestDNS1", Address = "a.b.c.d" });
Subnets.Add(new NetworkListResponse.Subnet() { Name = "Subnet-1", AddressPrefix = "a.b.c.d/cidr" });
Subnets.Add(new NetworkListResponse.Subnet() { Name = "GatewaySubnet", AddressPrefix = "a.b.c.d/cidr" });
Connections.Add(new NetworkListResponse.Connection() { Type = LocalNetworkConnectionType.IPSecurity });
LocalNetworkAddressPrefixes.Add("a.b.c.d/cidr");
LocalSites.Add(new NetworkListResponse.LocalNetworkSite()
Name = "On-Prem",
Connections = Connections,
VpnGatewayAddress = "a.b.c.d",
AddressSpace = new NetworkListResponse.AddressSpace() { AddressPrefixes = LocalNetworkAddressPrefixes }
Gateway.Sites = LocalSites;
Gateway.Profile = GatewayProfile.ExtraLarge;
NetworkManagementClient netMgmtClient = new NetworkManagementClient(CloudCredentials);
NetworkListResponse netlistresp = GlobalSettings.mainWindow.netMgmtClient.Networks.List();
netlistresp.VirtualNetworkSites
.Add(new NetworkListResponse.VirtualNetworkSite()
Name = "TestVirtualNetwork",
AddressSpace = new NetworkListResponse.AddressSpace() { AddressPrefixes = VirtualNetworkAddressPrefixes },
DnsServers = DNSServers,
Subnets = Subnets,
AffinityGroup = "East US",
Gateway = Gateway,
Label = "LabelValue"
I have also created the entire XML response and sent it to the NetworkManagementClient -> Networks.SetConfiguration() method, but it appears this command expects the virtual network to already be in existence. If anyone could give guidance, it would be
appreciated.Hi,
As discuss above , we have to create the XML response ,before that first you have to
GetConfiguration() details of existing virtual network.
string.format("@<NetworkConfiguration xmlns:xsd='http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema' xmlns:xsi='http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance' xmlns='http://schemas.microsoft.com/ServiceHosting/2011/07/NetworkConfiguration'>
<VirtualNetworkConfiguration>
<Dns />
<VirtualNetworkSites>
<VirtualNetworkSite name=""{0}"" Location=""{1}"">
<AddressSpace>
<AddressPrefix>10.0.0.0/8</AddressPrefix>
</AddressSpace>
<Subnets>
<Subnet name=""Subnet-2"">
<AddressPrefix>10.0.0.0/11</AddressPrefix>
</Subnet>
</Subnets>
</VirtualNetworkSite>",Networkname,location)+(@"<VirtualNetworkSite name=""demodsf1"" Location=""West Europe"">
<AddressSpace>
<AddressPrefix>10.0.0.0/8</AddressPrefix>
</AddressSpace>
<Subnets>
<Subnet name=""Subnet-1"">
<AddressPrefix>10.0.0.0/11</AddressPrefix>
</Subnet>
</Subnets>
</VirtualNetworkSite> </VirtualNetworkSites>
</VirtualNetworkConfiguration>
</NetworkConfiguration>")
you have to append the node for existing node with new values , i got it its adding new virtual network

How to find out which event is triggered in SDK
Hi all
From SDK, I am would like to know which event is triggered when the user select navigation menu Follow up -> Create Lead (screen 1).
I am guessing, it calls LeadCreateWithRef outport event but I don't see any absl code?? (screen 2)
When I try to switch from Display to Edit, I got error "Component which you are trying to edit comes from a lower layer. Please use Extensibility Explore to Edit" (screen 3)
Also in Extensibility Explorer, I can't open the button details (can't even see it in the buttongroup).
Any advice is welcomed.
Thanks
AnthonyHi Meghna
Thanks for the info. I am trying to do reverse engineering, to understand how to existing UI screen is built, how and what events get called when button is pressed and which screen will be opened.
For example, in Ticket screen, when I select Follow up then Create Lead:
I cannot drill down to see the button and its properties??
nb. Also there is no left right scroll bar to see the rest of button group. Is it a bug?? I am using Windows 8.1.
And in outport setting, I don't see which action/event triggered? and what screen to show?
Thanks again,
Anthony
