Chart Axis Labels Not Always Accepting Style Properties

I have two charts as seen in the following screenshot and in one my style properties are taking effect, in the other the style font size is not taking effect for one of the axis.
I have this CSS which I know does affect some areas of both charts:
BarChart, ColumnChart, PieChart, LineChart, Series, ChartItem, PieSeriesItem, AxisRenderer, ChartLabel
    font-size: 16;
I also have axis renderers defined:

The left chart where axis labels are styled properly has 10 data items coming in, and the right chart has 6 items coming in.
I don't know why the axis font size is being ignored in one case, but more importantly, how can I prevent it from being ignored (even if it is due to longer strings, in case that may be related).

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how I can get around this.
I'm guessing I need to override AxisRenderer, but all its relevant methods are private.
Should I create a label factory instead?

For Pie chart there will be no X-axis or Y-axis terms generally.
Label/Text could be one of the following.
Title?
or Sub Title?
or Foot note?
Right Click -> Format Title . Reduce the font size such that it fits into a single line.

How do I rotate chart axis labels?

Trying to rotaet chart axis labels for the x-axis, but would like to know the same for the y-axis too. Know the solution for a text box, but doesn't seem to work for the axis labels.

The solution is the same for X and Y labels. Select the labels and then set the rotation angle, either in the Format Bar or in the Metrics Inspector.

Am using custom label renderer for Chart Axis labels.

Waterfall chart data labels - not rendering in Flash

I have a problem with the waterfall charts. When I turn on the data labels, the charts fail to render in Flash - I get a axis and some garbled legend icons. If I turn off the waterfall chart data labels, the problem goes away. Clearly, there is some bug in the label coding.

Make sure you have the "Refresh before components are loaded" option checked on your QaaWS connection for the monthly data in the connection manager of Xcelsius.
To do this go to the connection manager in Xcelsius. Go to the connection you want to edit. Click the "Usage" tab. Then check the first check box that reads "Refresh Before Components Are Loaded".
This will run that query as soon as the dashboard is loaded. I think what may be happening to you now is that you have set a trigger cell of some kind that says, "When cell X becomes "XYZ" run the monthly data query. But when the dashboard is first loaded cell X does not equal "XYZ" therefore the query does not run initially. But then when you click the weekly tab and the back to the monthly tab you are setting cell X to "XYZ", therefore the query runs at that point.

Yes this was helpful but I need to format dates that are displaying on the group line (x axis). In some cases I only need to show only the hour as in 12 (for 12 PM) and not 12/20/2007 12:00:00 PM. Can you help me on this? Thanks

Editing chart Axis label

Hi. I have a report where one chart repeats one time, and in Preview, I am able to click on the Axis label and find an option to Edit the label, where I define 1 - 12 as Jan - Dec. However, another chart repeats for 80 or so pages, thus I can't use Preview to edit the label as it effects one chart at a time. Is there a place to edit axis labels in Design?

To clarify, converting month numbers to names is nice, and I did that using the specified order suggestion, but it doesn't effect the order of say, May, when Jan thru Apr are missing, and in fact created other issues of data misintrepatation I didn't bother resolving at the time.
I suppose the best solution would be something that supplies a placeholder for blank months, so that the Jan-Dec order remains constast and the data graph bars appear in appropriate months, Jan-Apr no bars, May-Dec with data generated bars.

CR4E Chart Axis Label

I have a report developed with Crystal Reports XI Standard that includes a chart. The axis labels for the chart have been set (via Edit Axis Label) and appear correctly in preview mode of the Crystal Reports XI designer (e.g. "District" instead of "Sum of StateReportsView.District").
When this report is exported to a PDF file via a Java program (using Crystal Reports for Eclipse), the axis labels revert to their original values (e.g. appear as "Sum of StateReportsView.District").
Can the axis labels be set before exporting the report via the JRC API?
Or is there some way to save the axis labels to the report using the Crystal Reports XI designer?

X axis label not visible

Hi .
I am plotting 6 variables against time using the strip chart using the scroll mode. I can label all my Y axis labels but my x axis label is never visible.I want to show what the x axis represents to my user. How do I rectify this problem?
I have enabled the show label for the x axis.

Two possible origins to your problem :
1/ The label is hidden by the graph pane. Right click on the graph, then "Advanced.../Reset Scale Layout"
2/ The label is visible, but contains an empty string. Right click on the graph, then "Xscale/Formatting..." and give a name to the scale...

15 character limit with bar chart axis labels

Does anybody know how to display axis labels that are larger than 15 characters? Is there something that you can do with the CSS to increase the limit?

Stacked Column Chart Data Labels Not Appearing

I am using SetSytle in Actionscript to make the data labels in a stacked column chart appear inside but it's not working.
A portion of the code I am using to create the chart is below:

After some more research, I put a breakpoint inside ColumnChart.as in the following function:

chart appearance is controlled by xml files located in
{cfroot}\charting\styles. the file for bar charts is
default.xml
you will want to:
1) copy thisfile to your site's root or some other folder
(i.e. same
folder that the page displaying your chart is in)
2) edit the file and change isHideOverlapped attribute of
labelStyle
property for xAxis to "false"
3) point the STYLE attribute of your cfchart tag to this new
file.

Chart axis labels unreadable

How do I control the chart label font size to keep it from
becoming unreasonable? I have a ColumnChart with 2 or 3 dozen
columns and when I let flex autosize them, the labels become
unreadable. I don't want to force the font to a certain size if
possible, but just keep it from going microscopic. The labels are
also very long so they had to be rotated vertically. Here is the

Have you looked at this example:

The labels are not rotated, but it looks like they're picking
up the styles
just fine. You may find that you can avoid the need to embed
the font by
setting the blendMode on the labels, but that will probably
require
extending ChartLabel. However, it might help if the rotation
is interfering
with the styling.

Decimals in chart axis labels

Hello,
Is there a way to get Keynote 2.0.2 to display decimals in chart labels? If you create a chart with values between e.g. 0 and 3 (with decimals) and tell keynote to create 6 steps for the value axis (plain bar chart), then then marks are 0 1 1 2 2 3 3 (so no halves or so).
I can find how to put the values inside the bars themselves with as many decimals as I want, but not on the axis... Any tips?

I've modified chartviewmessages.xml :

and got same GUI as in your image - as I desired - the presentation to the report creator is changed.
The problem is that in the chart itself, in the Y axis, I still getting 'b' instead of 'G' next to the numbers.

BIP 11.1.1.7 - Stacked Bar chart data label not visible in pdf

Hi all,
I have a report built with the online editor. This contains a stacked bar chart with percentage values in a repeating section and I made the property DataVisible=true.
When I view the report in interactive mode it all works: I can see the data label for every value of the parameter but when I view in any other format (PDF, PPT, ecc..) the data labels are visible in the first chart (for the first value of the parameter) while in the other charts they aren't. This doesn't happens for other types of chart, for example with a pie chart.
Can someone help me or tell if it is a bug?

Tomcat is not always accepting the changes

Hi there
I have tomcat 6 on a fedora core 9 and most of the time when I update some jsp files.. Tomcat is not loading the new changes.. I have to remove the whole site and then stop tomcat and started it and stop it and then copy the files back and it's works.. what a pain..
don't worry I do the manager/html also... and still doesn't work..
I am not doing any hosting.. it just on web site on 1 linux server...
this is part of my server.xml

yes I am overwritting it.. I open the file on my server and the changes are there but not loading it..if i understand you right, then this is definitely a browser caching issue and you didn't clear the cache and/or force a reload
