Chart Error

Hi,
I am trying to generate a chart based on a SQL. The following SQL executes fine in the SQL Commands window but it doesn't validate when entered in the Chart Series SQL:
SELECT SYMBOL "Symbol",
-SUM(TRANS_AMT) "Purchase Value"
FROM TRADING
GROUP BY SYMBOL
HAVING SUM(DECODE(TRANS_TYPE,'Buy',QUANTITY,'Sell',-QUANTITY)) <> 0;
The error I get is as below:
1 error has occurred
* Invalid chart query: SELECT SYMBOL "Symbol", -SUM(TRANS_AMT) "Purchase Value" FROM TRADING GROUP BY SYMBOL HAVING SUM(DECODE(TRANS_TYPE,'Buy',QUANTITY,'Sell',-QUANTITY)) <> 0
Use the following syntax:
SELECT LINK, LABEL, VALUE
FROM ...
LINK     URL
LABEL     Text that displays in legend text, hint text, and pie slice labels.
VALUE     Numeric column that defines the data values.
Any help or suggestion is appreciated.
Thanks.

I have same error. Does anyone help?

  • SVG: Chart error: ORA-20001:

    Hi,
    We are using 1.6.1.00.02 . I got a problem with SVG chart. The query returns following error:
    SVG: Chart error: ORA-20001: bar_char_error ORA-20001: get_data_error: ORA-20001 Fetch error: ORA-01782
    The column names are correct. The same query works perfectly in HTMLDB reports.
    Following is the query:
    SELECT
    TRANSACTION_dATE,
    SUM(SALES) SALES,
    SUM(COST_OF_SALE) COST_OF_SALE
    fROM HTML_SALES_REPORT_View
    WHERE transaction_date between
    '01-DEC-2004' and '31-DEC-2004'
    GROUP BY TRANSACTION_DATE
    Help will be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Hamayun

    Hi,
    you have to use the following syntax:
    SELECT link, label, value
    Example
    SELECT
    null link, TRANSACTION_dATE label,
    SUM(SALES) value ,
    fROM HTML_SALES_REPORT_View
    WHERE transaction_date between
    '01-DEC-2004' and '31-DEC-2004'
    GROUP BY TRANSACTION_DATE
    And to display your cost_of_sale data you have to add a second series like this:
    SELECT
    null link, TRANSACTION_dATE label,
    SUM(COST_OF_SALE) value
    fROM HTML_SALES_REPORT_View
    WHERE transaction_date between
    '01-DEC-2004' and '31-DEC-2004'
    GROUP BY TRANSACTION_DATE
    because you can't display two lines with just one query.
    I hope this will help.

  • Line chart error

    Created a line chart with two series as follows:
    Query for series 1
    select null, period_no, valuex
    (select null, period_no, avg(actual) valuex
    from kpi_performance
    group by period_by
    order by period_by)
    Query for series 2
    select null, period_no, valuex
    (select null, period_no, avg(forecast) valuex
    from kpi_performance
    group by period_by
    order by period_by)
    When the page is executed the following error is displayed:
    "SVG chart error: ORA-20001: line_chart error: ORA-20001: get_data error:ORA-20001: Parse error: ORA-00936: missing expression"
    I think this is related to the use of "group by" and "order by" in the queries but cannot find a workaround.
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks
    Vincent

    I believe that the problem may be the ORDER BY. I believe that you cannot have an ORDER BY clause in a series.

  • SVG CHart error ORA-20001 with Stacked Bar Chart HTML DB 1.6.0.00.87

    Hi,
    during I put a How-To into execution (How To Create a Stacked Bar Chart) I'll get the following error code:
    SVG Chart error:ORA-20001:line_Chart error:ORA-20001:
    get_data error:ORA-20001:Parse error:ORA009
    (see http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/howtos/index.html)
    This Situation occurs when i add a second series to the
    chart. The first series works fine. I've used the following SQL-Statement:
    select null l, sales_month, revenue from (select to_char(o.order_timestamp,'Mon YYYY') sales_month, sum(oi.quantity * oi.unit_price) revenue, to_date(to_char(o.order_timestamp,'Mon YYYY'),'Mon YYYY') sales_month_order from DEMO_PRODUCT_INFO p, DEMO_ORDER_ITEMS oi, DEMO_ORDERS o where o.order_timestamp <= (trunc(sysdate,'MON')-1)and o.order_timestamp > (trunc(sysdate-365,'MON'))and o.order_id = oi.order_id and oi.product_id = p.product_id and p.category = 'Audio' group by to_char(o.order_timestamp,'Mon YYYY') order by sales_month_order);
    Please help.
    Regards
    Detlev

    Well,
    I've just been struggling for a couple of hours with a cluster bar chart giving the same problem.
    The problem is definitely with "ORDER BY".
    I guess the graphing chart is taking the sql query as a string and then does some other manipulation on it which ends abnormally when you include the order by clause.
    I presume that if you embed the query in a
    SELECT * FROM (<actual query with order by>)
    it might mitigate the problem.

  • Flash chart - Error - No chart data available

    Hi
    I have a Flash chart that shows the message "Error - No chart data available" (not the no data found message).
    If I run its query in sql*plus (using the same parameters) I get 4 rows (with url, label and value columns). I am clueless about how to start investigating this as the chart does not show any other information... Any advice?
    What does that message mean? Obviously is something different from no data found?
    Thanks
    Luis

    Hi Marco
    Thanks for the reply. I did what you said and found out the problem:
    chart Flash Chart error: ORA-20001: get_data error: ORA-20001: Fetch error: ORA-01843: not a valid monthThis was caused because I used the following construction:
    where date_from = :p5_date_fromIf this was a report, this would run fine as I set the date format mask using a application level process. However, as Flash charts use separate database connections, they ignore that setting (btw I posted a message about this problem).
    I fixed it hardcoding a format mask in my SQL. Not nice but it works!
    Thanks
    Luis

  • Chart Error - scroller positions should be positive and integer

    <p>
    Hello Expert
    I have created a flash chart with two filters on the chart region.
    i) &lsquo;Select list with submit' ----- (:P23_TRC)
    ii) &lsquo;Radio button with submit' -----(:P23_IMPACTC)
    The chart should display as per the filters selection.
    However, I get the error message "<strong>scroller positions should be positive and integer</strong>", once, whenever I load this chart page for the 1st time in a new IE window.
    After I change the filter's value it will work perfectly fine.

    Hi Rima,
    I found the solution,
    My graph is dependent on the page items. What I found was when I load the page, item default value was displayed but it was not stored in the memory. Item value only gets stored in memory when the page is submitted.
    Line: -----
    Soultion : - Create a page level before header process and define the default value over here as well. This will resolve your error.
    Hopefully you understood what I am trying to explain. If not let me know and I will trying to put in picture and email you.

  • Portlet Chart error message with page parameters

    I have a perplexing problem.
    We're using portal 9.0.4. I've created a chart from a sql query using the portal builder tools. It's a complicated query with two parameters that have default values defined. The chart will run as a portlet from the portal provider edit page just fine.
    I can place the chart portlet on a page without hooking up the page parameters and it runs just fine from the default values. However, when I hook up the page parameters to the chart parameters from the page properties area, the chart no longer works. It displays "Error Message" in the portlet header area with no other error messages. The other portlets continue to work just fine.
    I've double checked the page parameter settings. I've built a second chart, and the same thing happens when I hook up the page parameters to the portlet on the page.
    I traced through the portlet code in the generated package, and it seems to be failing on this statement:
    l_cursor := PORTAL.wwv_user_utilities.bind_query (
    p_module_id => 1182363588,
    p_query => l_query,
    p_arg_names => l_arg_names,
    p_arg_values => l_arg_values,
    p_bind_vars => PORTAL.wwv_standard_util.string_to_table2('p_grp_id:p_org_id'),
    p_var_types => PORTAL.wwv_standard_util.string_to_table2('ARRAY:ARRAY'),
    p_bind_null => true,
    p_mode => p_mode,
    p_prefix => p_reference_path);
    If I comment this line and everything after it out, the portlet runs, although none of the chart is displayed the portlet header shows the correct title. If I uncomment this particular line, then the portlet errors out with a "Error: The listener returned the following Message: 404 Not Found" message.
    Anyone have any ideas please??

  • Scatter Chart Error Bars Help

    I'm new to using iWork for my lab reports and today, while I was plotting a scatter chart, I had to put some error bars on the points in percentage form. The value for the x-axis was 0.5% and the value for they y-axis was 1.5%, and when I tried to input these, the only thing I got was the error sound and the error bars returning to 3% and 1% respectively. Anyone know why this is happening and how i might resolve this issue? Thank you in advance.

    Angelos,
    I'm sure that your eyes are sharper than mine. Still, if your error bar is shorter than the radius of your symbol, you aren't going to see it. The standard symbols are roughly 4mm in diameter, based on the Numbers Rulers. Let's say you have a 100 mm tall chart, an average graphic size. A 0.5% error bar would be a maximum of 0.5 mm in length, unless you suppress the axis zero, and would be hidden behind the 4 mm dia. data symbol. Yes, you could see a 3% or 4% error bar, but I'm not sure everyone would recognize that it was an error bar and not part of the data symbol.

    Jerry

  • APEX 4.0.2 Project Gantt Chart - Error Code: 2002 Message: Empty input

    Hi
    I have created a brand new page containing a Project Gantt Chart region. The Gantt chart is designed to track the progress of a job over time. The page has one chart series containing the following SQL.
    SELECT null LINK,
    stage NAME,
    rownum ID,
    null PARENT_ID,
    trunc(start_date) ACTUAL_START,
    trunc(completion_date) ACTUAL_END,
    decode(completion_date, null, 0, 100) PROGRESS
    FROM tracking
    WHERE job_reference = '889343'
    This SQL statement returns values from SQL Developer and from the SQL Workshop > SQL Commands from within APEX itself.
    The problem is that when I run the page the following error displays inside the region
    Category: 2000
    Error code: 2002
    Message: Empty input
    Environment Information
    Application Express 4.0.2.00.07. - Clean installation not upgraded from APEX 3
    Using Firefox 3.6.15
    Issue identical in IE
    DB version - Oracle Database 11g Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
    I'm really stuck so I hope someone can help me out. I really would appreciate it.
    Thanks

  • Asynchronous update of Flash chart error in IE

    Hi gurus,
    I had a post a while ago about an update command for a flash chart:
    [Asynchronous update of flash chart when select list value changes|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=3491745]
    The goal was when I clicked a button or changed a select list the flash chart should update. Here is the command to update the flash chart:
    apex_RefreshChart ($v('pFlowStepId'), $v('Pxx_REGION_ID').substr(1), navigator.language );This worked really well in Firefox but IE always created an error:

    I just found out that the original time based flash update option creates the same error I get all the time. It can be configured under:
    Chart attributes > Refresh: Asynchronous Update = YES and Update Interval (Seconds) = 10
    Error: (line 49) (JScript - script block):
    function __flash__addCallback(instance, name) {
      instance[name] = function () {
        return eval(instance.CallFunction("<invoke name=\""+name+"\" returntype=\"javascript\">" + __flash__argumentsToXML(arguments,0) + "</invoke>"));
      }By the way I use the newest APEX version: "Application Express 3.2.1.00.10"
    Seems more like a general error? Everybody should be able to rebuild this under IE 8 or IE 7. I use IE8!
    Created source code:
    &lt;script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
    function chart_r2258227549390282_InitRefresh(pNow) {
      setTimeout("chart_r2258227549390282_InitRefresh(true)",10000);
      if (pNow){apex_RefreshChart (1, '2258227549390282', 'de');}
    apex_SWFFormFix('c2258227549390282');
    &lt;/script>It still works well with Firefox.

    Hi,
    Is this the complete XML for your chart?  If so then it appears to contain no data, so you may need to review the chart source to ensure that the function is returning a query that's using the correct syntax for the selected chart type.  You may wish to refer to 10.4 Creating Charts for further information on the syntax required.  If you believe the function is behaving correctly, then it would be worth running your chart page with Debug set to Yes, and reviewing the debug information for any reported errors.

  • Ie 9 - Gantt chart - error

    ON ie 9 when a Gantt chart is selected for the dashboard ( P6 R 8.2 ), there is a 'fetching error' i.e. screen says fetching data but never returns any data. The work around is to change document mode in IE developer tools to IE 8 every time the screen is used.
    Any idea about this bug or a much smarter work around or a resolution ?

    Any idea please on the above ?

  • AreaSeries on chart -- Error 1010 triggered

    After reassigning the dataProvider array of my area chart, I

    The strange thing is that the new array has 6 items! I check
    its length (length greater than 2) before I assign it. However,
    when the debugger breaks in drawPolyLine, the "pts" matrix has only
    1 item. I don't know how the array goes from having 6 items to only
    1. The stacktrace does not trace back to my code, so I am having
    trouble debugging this.
    I thought that setting the series' filterData property to
    true would prevent this from occurring, but it didn't work.
    Any ideas on how I can figure this out?
    Thank you,
    -C

    Using permit debugging definitely helped me nail down the issue. No more 1010's.  This is a great feature.
    A couple more questions if I may - the site still experiences slow response when clicking from one song to another.  Presently I have the .mp3 files for all of the seven CDs in one folder.
    Will I increase response time between song choices if I create individual folders for each CD rather than one large folder?
    Will I increase response time by reducing .mp3 file sound quality, therefore increasing loading speed - (this one seemsan  obvious yes - and sound quality is already reasonably small)?
    Is it possibly due to the first song choice (which has fast responee time) having to fully complete loading before a subsequent song choice can start to load - and if this is the case - can I script in a stop load function when a new choice is made ?
