Chart legend shows database field instead of value

Hi,
I would like to understand the behavior of the charts legend, which sometimes display the field values as requested, but sometimes display the database field name starting with a @.
We develop Crystal Reports and then generate them via an application. We have many releases of our application and therefore we get to work with Crystal versions 10, XI, XIr2 and 2008.
In all cases, the legend display is correct when in the Crystal Reports Designer preview mode. However when generated through our application (using ADO.NET), depending on the Crystal runtime version (apparently) the result varies. Editing the legend label in preview mode doesn't resolve the issue.
Is this behavior related to :
- Crystal Reports runtime (it appears to happen only with Crystal Reports runtimes XIr2 and 2008 in our case) ?
- Using formula fields in the chart instead of database fields directly ?
- Evaluation time (our charts are in Report Header and/or Group Header) ?
- any other idea ?
Thank you very much
Anthony

We have been able to detect that the Language Regional Settings of Windows XP Pro has a direct effect on our charts legend display.
We noticed that when the Regional Settings were set to English, the report would generate correctly and chart legends would display values, and not database fields names. However, when the regional settings are set to another language (tried French, Dutch, Spanish and German) the problem occurs.
Using Process Monitor we have spotted that when in Regional Settings other than English it was still the English dll that were called (crdb_adoplus_res_en.dll)...
The problem occurs with Crystal runtimes XIr2 and 2008 only. We use Crystal Reports in an application, using ADO.NET connector, and we use the Crystal runtime to generate reports.
Is this a bug or is there a workaround to make sure the correct dll are called according to regional settings ?
Thank you for your kind assistance.
Best regards,
Anthony

    in my trace file 20 queries.
    I alse set this parameter in session level.

    but still showing traceoutput file bind variable.
    Pls help its very urgent

    Can you post the query for which the bind variable values are not being shown and the trace output for the same?
    Probably it is listed down somewhere when you actually executed the query among the others. Try completely analyzing your trace file..

  • Pie chart legend showing digit "1" when we set "ignore blank cells"property

    All,
    We have pie chart in Xcelsius 2008 that shows the data with legend value and we have also set the ignore blank cells property to ignore the blank value from column. but once we set this property, it displays the digit "1" in the legend when there is no data.
    we are expecting that nothing should be displayed in pie chart legend when there is no data for the pie chart.
    Thanks,
    Sourabh

    hi Sourabh,
    I could replicate your scenario.
    Workaround is to create a duplicate of this chart. Go to properties of this new chart.
    Go to Appearance ->
    Uncheck
    - Legend
    - Mouse-over values
    - Data Labels
    for this chart.
    Write a logic in excel using 'IF' to verify if your data is empty.
    Use 'Dynamic Visibility' feature to display this chart only when your data is empty.
    Display your original chart if your data is not empty.

  • Mail search results show 'to' field instead of 'from' field

    Since a couple of days mail in Mountain Lion (10.8.2) shows the 'to' field instead of the 'from' field.
    Previously when I performded a search action, the middle collumn showed the 'from' field. So when i perform a search on mails from [email protected] the mails from [email protected] show up in the search results, however it shows the 'to' field. If there are more people in the 'to' field, it shows the first. Does anybody know how to return to the old setting?
    Thanks,

    I'm seeing the same thing. I didn't change any setting, but it just starting doing this and it's infuriating trying to find stuff.

  • Executing SSRS using the 'label' field instead of 'value' field

    Hi,
    We have in house custom SSRS reports built for our clients and each of those reports have a 'label' field and a 'value' field. Now the 'label' field is something that the client sees on the UI as a friendly name. When a client runs the report, it gets executed
    against the 'value' field and so I was wondering if there was a way to tell SSRS to execute against 'label' field as oppose to 'value'.
    Appreciate your response!
    Thanks,
    Darshan

    I found the solution!!! By design, SSRS will not convert Label to Values. You will need to write custom code to do this. You need to do the below
    a) You need create an instance of
    ReportingService2010
    rs =
    newReportingService2010();
    b) Then you need to populate the ParameterValue[] array and populate the 'Name' and 'Value' (here the 'Value' is actually the Label that the client sees on the UI)
    c) Assign the following
    string report = "[report_path]";
    bool forRendering = true;
    string historyID = null;
    DataSourceCredentials[] credentials = null;
    ItemParameter[] parameters = null;
    and then call parameters = rs.GetItemParameters(report, historyID, forRendering, values, credentials);
    d) The above call gives you the Label-Value pair mappings within the "parameters" object and if you have cascading parameters, you will need to recursively call parameters = rs.GetItemParameters(report, historyID, forRendering, values, credentials); which
    will give you the complete set of the Label-Value pair mapping.
    e) You then iterate through the above collection and the get the Value for that Label and pass it on to SSRS
    I have tested this internally on several reports and it seems to be working. I can now pass in the displayed values to our custom web services and the above steps take care of populating the Label-Value pair mapping and then calling SSRS with the actual
    'Value'

  • APEX 4.1 show hide fields based on value of checkbox/radio

    I am trying to successfully hide and show fields based on the value of a clicked checkbox.  I am using a dynamic action, but it isn't working.
    I followed the sample at Does Oracle Apex 4 enable the following AJAX features? (ie without the dev writing the Javascript) - Stack Overflow
    I even tried a radio button, but it didn't work.  I cannot uncheck the radio button.  What am I doing wrong?  Thank you for any help you can provide.

    Hi,
         create a dynamic action for page load to hide the item which you wanna hide
         now create another dynamic action
         event : Click
         Selection Type : Items
         Items : P1_Check_box(name of the check box item)
         condition : equal to
         value : return value of the check box item (if you click the check box and the return value is 1 then just add 1)
         in true actions
         Action : Show
        Selection Type : Items
         Items : P1_Text_field(name of the field)
         uncheck fire on page load
         create exact opposite false action, that's it.

  • FSG showing Account description instead of value and description

    Hi ,
    I am getting rows without Account Values in an FSG that I created - it has 27 columns. I had specifically created a row order with Value and Description for the Account Segment with all other segments having width zero. When I run this FSG I only get the Description and not the values. I tried everything from increasing the width of the column and also removing the row order but it still shows only the description. I also tried with a row order with Value only for the Account Segment but even then it shows only the Account description. I have no idea what is causing it? Can you tell me how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Arun

  • LOV shows no value after conditionally showing other field

    I am a newbie quietly desperate trying to do something basic.
    I have a comments field LOV (static values not sql) as "select list with redirect". If they select "other" then a second field appears to enter details. Field appears as planned but value in LOV disappears. Any other value chosen displays even it it hides the further comments field.
    The session state shows that the value is "other" but it is not displayed.
    Thanks
    Ron

    Hi,
    If the LOV value is stored on the database, then the settings should be:
    Soruce Used: Always, replacing any existing value in session state
    Source Type: Database Column
    Source value or expression: Name of database field
    The display value for Other shouldn't affect the saving of the data and I don't think that "Other" would cause a problem as such - I tend to use initials for things like that, so would have "O" instead. I have set up a test page on my OTN and used the following for my LOV and it works as expected: STATIC2:No;N,Yes;Y,Other (Blah blah blah);O
    The "Other (Blah blah blah)" is there when the page reloads and the other fields do become available.

  • Keynote data labels, can I show category names instead of data values?

    I'd like to recreate the chart below in Keynote. The chart below is an excel line chart with the lines removed. In excel I can opt to show category names instead of values for the data labels. Can I do this in Keynote?

    You can select member name or alias or both in the Dimension property while creating the form.
    It is in the same window as explained earlier, you need to just select both the Member and its Aliase to be displayed on the form.
    Thanks,

  • Field description in chart legend instead of technical name (BW query)?

    I am building a report from a BW query. The report has a grouping field and a bar chart in the group footer. When I execute the report the legend shows the technical name of the key figures even though I checked the "Show description" field in the "options".
    I can change the labels in "preview" mode (provided I can guess the real names), but just like in the field explorer I would prefer to always have the text instead of the nonsense technical name.
    Is this possible?

    hello all,
    you can use a 2 chart workaround for this.
    1) the first chart is the Group chart you already have...just disable the legend
    2) now create an Advanced chart using the description field as the On Change Of
    3) set the Order of chart to correspond with the technical field that the group is based on
    4) preview the chart and right click on the x axis area and format the axis so nothing is showing
    5) do the same for the y axis
    6) keep right clicking on all of the chart objects and changing them to transparent
    sounds annoying, is annoying, but it works.
    cheers,

  • Crystal Reports XI Web Elements - populate WESelect element values from database field

    <p>Hi,</p><p>I am using Web Elements with Crystal Reports XI. I need to know how to populate the ElementValues and ElementDisplays arguments of the WESelect function from a database field. </p><p>In the function expert when I click on the ElementsValues and ElementDisplays values a drop down appears which will let me select a field or formula. However, when I try saving and leaving the formula workshop an error message is generated.</p><p> "A subscript must be between 1 and the size of the array".</p><p>I assume this is because the WESelect function is looking for the "|" separator in the ElementValues and ElementDisplays arguments.</p><p>Please advise.</p><p>Thanks</p>

    hello,Â
    in the webelements.zip download you should find a DCP report which shows the method for "rolling up" data using a subreport and passing these to a select control using shared variables.
    basically a string running total rolls up the values at run time and character separates them for use by the controls. for any type of select (drop down menu etc.) controls all of the values have to be made available before the main report is run so that's why you use this techique. you can think of it this way...instead of having an asp page that runs a database query and then populates a javascript array for the control, the subreport rolls up the values and passes them to the control.
    other types of controls that you wish to place directly on a group header or details section can be run off of main report fields or formulae...e.g. you can place a checkbox control on the details section without having to roll up the data in advance.
    by just putting a field name in the parameter for a select control, you will only get one value per control.
    i hope that this makes sense as it takes a bit to get used to at first,

  • SSRS Hide one data value label in chart legend

    Is it possible  to hide one value in the legend? I've got a stacked bar chart, but there's one value that I don't want to display in the Legend. Is it possible to hide this particular color and label in the legend?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
    Yes. In Reporting Services 2005, you could add a filter to hide one value label in the chart legend. This can be done with the following instructions:
    In Report Designer, open the chart properties dialog box and go to Data tab.
    Double click the item in the Series groups to open the Grouping and Sorting Properties dialog box.
    Switch to the Filter tab. Add a filter using the following setting:
    Expression: =Fields!<FieldName>.value
    Operaiton: !=
    Value: =”value”
    If you have any further questions, please let me know.
    Thanks.

  • Crystal reports V8.5 Chart legend adding up incorrectly - when using negative values

    Post Author: dawnyanne
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
    Hi
    if anyone can help me I would be extremely grateful!
    I have a pie chart with a legend. There are just two values that are showing but one of the values is a negative value and the total of the legend is adding up incorrectly. Here is how it is showing at the moment
    Cash                 -0.71
    Uk Equities     100.71
    Total              101.42
    here is how it should be
    Cash               -0.71
    UK Equities   100.71
    Total             100.00
    I can set the chart amounts to be percentage - but then it comes out as only one decimal place and I need two.
    Any help would be very much appreciated!
    kind regards
