SSRS Hide one data value label in chart legend

Is it possible  to hide one value in the legend? I've got a stacked bar chart, but there's one value that I don't want to display in the Legend. Is it possible to hide this particular color and label in the legend?
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,
Yes. In Reporting Services 2005, you could add a filter to hide one value label in the chart legend. This can be done with the following instructions:
In Report Designer, open the chart properties dialog box and go to Data tab.
Double click the item in the Series groups to open the Grouping and Sorting Properties dialog box.
Switch to the Filter tab. Add a filter using the following setting:
Expression: =Fields!<FieldName>.value
Operaiton: !=
Value: =”value”
If you have any further questions, please let me know.
Thanks.

  • How can I show a 0% range in the data value label on a bar chart thanks?

How can I show a 0% range in the data value label on a bar chart thanks?

I'm not sure what the question is.
I know that if you have a bar chart and one of the categories (X-axis) has bar (Y value) equal to 0%, no bar is plotted for that category. Even the addition of a stroke (line) around the bars doesn't make one appear for 0%.  The only automatic way I know of to make it look like there is data in that category is to add the value labels to the bars. Inspector/Chart/Series, select one of the bars on the chart, click on "value labels". Another method that is a workaround is to fudge the number a little in your table so that instead of 0% it is a very small %.  This will get you a thin line on the chart.
But if your question is about the value labels (the numbers that display on or in the bars) and you are not getting one for a bar that is supposed to be 0%, it probably means your table doesn't actually have a 0% in the corresponding cell. A blank cell in the table will not get a value label.

  • How to show data value labels in the charts without moving my mouse on the data point?

Sometimes I need to show a chart with data value labels which is not necessary to move my mouse on the data points. However, it seems Xcelsius does not support this simple feature. Any alternative ways?
    Many thanks!

Currently, Xcelsius does not support display of labels at data points. It would be difficult to move and update labels on a chart with dynamically updated data. However, a work around for a static chart would be to add a Label component in the desired location. This can be done for multiple static charts by using dynamic visibility.

  • Data values on Bar Chart in a BI Publisher report (11g)

I have a bar chart that I created via the layout editor in BI Publisher 11g, and I'm displaying the data values on the chart. That part works great. However, we're noticing that the chart adds zeros to the end of the data values depending on the length of the number being passed to the chart. My data item is a number that is 5 bytes in total, with 2 decimals. If the data value is *10.10*, the data displayed on the bar chart shows *10.10*. But when my data value is *1.10*, the data displayed on the bar chart is *1.100*. And if my data value is *.10*, the bar chart displays *0.1000*. The bar chart adds zeros to the end as the number of characters to the left of the decimal decreases.
I don't see a way to make it not do that. Has anyone else run into this, and been able to change it?

Basically what are you trying to do :
Attaching Mutiple Data Definition to a XML Program and deciding which one to call ased on parameter.Sorry you can not do that one Data DEfinition per Report.
ut there is one way of doing that.
Create multiple data defintion( mutiple programs) and then a master program something like
    IF Master Program Param1 = 'X'
    call BI Program 1
    ELSIF Master Program Param1 = 'Y'
    call I Program 2....
    End IF;

  • How to HIDE one data field in BEx???

    Hi all,
I tried to HIDE one CHAR's value from report but no matter what I did. It still shows in the report. Need advice, please.
<b>EX: In the FILTER, I drag & drop 'product ID' to filter section and assign certain' value' under it and then run the query. It shows 'product ID with those values I assigned in the report.</b> I need to remove them from the report. How? (I already personized my variant so it won't show in the selection screen)
    Thank you
    J.

    Hi all,
Thank you for all informaiton. Here is an example for my scenario: I need to put Product ID in the FILTER section and 'restrict' the value- #112, #113 (ie: my sales report will be only for these two products). <b>This report is for products-#112,#113 only so my client doesn't want to see one row show: Product ID: #112, #113 in the report.</b> Any advice that I can avoid this row?  I used 'no display' but it is still there.

  • SSRS 2008 Chart legend colours not matching series colour.

    Hi,
I believe this issue has been raised before. In SSRS 2005 & 2008 R2 though I am yet to find a solution other than a lengthy (messy) workaround.
I have a chart based on the following data:
    Data field - Count(ChangeID)
Category - Change_Categorisation (ie. Maintenance, new hardware etc)
Series - Change_Timing (Emergency, expedited, normal etc)
So i am using a stacked column chart to show the category along the X axis and stack the number of changes by their timing.
In the Series colour setting i am using the expression:
    =iif(Fields!Change_Timing.Value="Emergency","Red",iif(Fields!Change_Timing.Value="Expedited","Orange","SteelBlue"))
    I have also tried
    =Switch(Fields!Change_Timing.Value="Emergency","Red",Fields!Change_Timing.Value="Expedited","Orange",Fields!Change_Timing.Value="Normal","SteelBlue")
In all cases the legend only seems to refer to the first column in the chart to pick up colours.
    For example.
The first column for December is Maintenance changes. There are 2 emergency & 1 normal. the only expedited change is in another column (new hardware).
So the legend shows Emergency as RED, Normal as SteelBlue and Expedited as Steelblue.
no matter what I do the legend only picks up the colours from the first category. so if the fist category only has 1 timing (eg- Normal). Every item in the legend has the Normal colour (Steelblue)
Surely there is a fix for this that doesnt involve creating a table to the side of the graph which seems like a really basic way to deal with this issue. I may as well go back to the dark ages and use Excel for my reports or bloody draw them on paper.
:) calming down now. Thanks for any input on this.

    Hi,
I have reproduced the issue you posted as the following picture shows. The color of series group “AAA” in the legend is not as the same as the color as the third column.
Based on my testing, it occurs when the chart meets the following conditions:
    1.
Use decision function to specify the Series colors.
    2.
The data value of the chart using the aggregate
    Count.
    3.
One series group is not contained in the first category column.

  • SSRS Switch Case Default Value

    Hi
I am preparing a chart in my report. My problem is default value of switch statement. I want to hide the default value on my chart.
My expression in category group is below. Totally, there are 4 statuses. However, I just use status 1 and status 2.
    Switch(Fields!status.value=1,"New order",Fields!status.value=2,"Order",true,nothing)
When I execute the report it displays "New order" and "Order" correct. But also displays me default value. I just want these two values. I don't want to display the third one on my chart. How can I hide statuses except 1 and 2 ?
    KAdir

    Hi KAdir,
If I understand correctly, you want only display the first and second category values in the chart. In your case, we can use IIF() function to work around the issue.
Please refer to the following expression in category group:
    =IIF(Fields!status.value=1,"New order",
    IIF(Fields!status.value=2,"Order",Nothing))
Then, use following expression to replace the Values' expression:
    =IIF(Fields!status.value=1 or Fields!status.value=2,
    Fields!Details.Value,0)
There is a screenshot for your reference:
If there are any misunderstanding, please feel free to let me know.

  • Duplicate y-axis labels on charts for small data values -- is this a bug?

    Hi,
I have several charts where the data values are small (1,2,3). The y-axis labels are duplicated for these charts. For example, if the data value was 2 the y-axis labels display as 0 1 1 1 2 2 2. I know that I can manually set the maximum y-axis value and also set the segments on the chart to eliminate the duplicate values. My issue is that I have over 100 charts in my dashboard and I have to manually set the values each month, and then in the next month when the data values are larger I have to remove the maximum y-axis value so the y-axis value is dynamically created. Is this a known bug within the software? Is there any fix for this besides what I'm already doing?
Please let me know if anyone else has seen this issue and if this is a bug, or if this has been corrected in any fix packs.
    Thanks!!

    Hi Jim,
I have data for three months in the data range A1 to B3 as given below -
    Jan - 1
    Feb - 2
    Mar - 3
In Cell D1 write a formula =MAX(B1:B3)+1 (This will give you value 4)
Go to Chart property -> Behavior -> Scale -> Manual (Y) Axis ->  Minimum 0 and Maximum will be pointing to cell D1.
Go to Chart property -> Behavior -> Scale -> Division -> Size of Division 1 and Minor Divisions 1
This will give you Y Axis values as 0,1,2,3,4
Now change value of any month to 5.  Now value in D1 would become 6 and Y-Axis would change to 0,2,4,6.
    Hope this helps.

I have SSRS parametarized report in that one data set have repeated values with query parameter . but while am mapping that query
parameter to report parameter i need to pass distinct values. How can i resolve this

    Hi nancharaiah,
If I understand correctly, you want to pass distinct values to report parameter. In Reporting Service, there are only three methods for parameter's Available Values:
    None
    Specify values
    Get values from a query
If we utilize the third option that get values from a dataset query, then the all available values are from the returns of the dataset. So if we want to pass distinct values from a dataset, we need to make the dataset returns distinct values. The following
    sample is for your reference:
    Select distinct field_name  from table_name
If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

  • Hide one value coming from DB in LOVs on ADF pages.

    Hi,
We need to hide one value from user from List of values.
We are populating the List of values from DB through Web service data control.
    We have
    L1
    L2
    L3
    L4
L5 in the list of values
But we dont want to see L5 in the list of values on the screen.
Now the drop down should look like below
    L1
    L2
    L3
    L4
    Thanks in Adv...

is it always the last value that you need to remove ?
once i tried to remove the first empty string value in my selectOneChoice component that bind to an ADF DataControl.
    function init(){
         if (document.forms[0].soc11.options[0].value=='') {
           document.forms[0].soc11.options[0] = null;
           document.forms[0].soc11.value = document.forms[0].soc11.options[0].value;
//put below code before your form tag
<af:clientListener method="init" type="load"/>or you can remove the data from your VO query by limit it or put it in the WHERE clause

  • Hide Repeating Frames based on data value

    Hello,
Wonderful forum. Hope someone out there can give us input on this one. We have a report where we would like to show a different layout depending on the data value from the master query. One layout occupies a full 8X11 page and the second layout occupies 1/3rd of a page. Is it possible to hide one reapeating frame and show the other based on data value? This would be a multiple page report and each page will have to take the correct payout depending on the value of the data in the row.
I appreciate any input on this. Thanks
    Ravi

Thanks for you input. I appreciate it.
I am having a problem doing this. Let us say i have 2 differnt paper layouts. I want to show or hide one of the layouts based on a data value.
The problem i am facing is that the 2nd instance of true value for showing the 1st layout is over lapping the 1st instance of the 2nd layout thus showing 2 layouts overlapping each other on the same page. I know this is confusing but i will attempt to give an example:
page 1 shows - layout #1 only is showing based on result of data value. This is good.
page 2 shows - layout #2 shows based on data value, but also the 2nd instace of layout #1 (what ever data record satisfies layout #1 rule) is also showing over layout #2. So both the layouts are jumbled up on 1 page.
Essentially conditional formatting on layout #1 is not able to recognize that there is a 2nd layout taking its place and thus showing the layout #1 whenever it finds data which satisfies the condition on the 2nd page and so on..
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks..

  • Apex flash charts with date values on the x axis

I am playing around in Apex 4 using flash charts and having a bit of troubles playing with dates on the x axis on a 2d line chart.
What I am trying to achive is a values plotted across the chart and the date/time values are not a constent (ie not continually say 1 hour apart) hence why I want to use a datatype of date.
    In the SQL below:
select null as link,  sysdate -2  as value, 0 as label from dual
    union
    select null , sysdate -2+1/24 , 1 from dual
    union
    select null , sysdate -2+2/24 , 2 from dual
    union
select null , sysdate -2+5/48, 1 from dual
    union
select null , sysdate -2+3/24, 0 from dual;I get a 2D Line chart but each date/time value is equally space apart (ie sysdate -2, sysdate -2+1/24, sysdate -2+2/24 and sysdate -2+3/24 should be 1 unit apart and sysdate -2+5/48 should be half way between sysdate -2+2/24 and sysdate -2+3/24).
I think I have to use custom xml. Using http://www.anychart.com/products/anychart/docs/xmlReference/index.html and http://www.anychart.com/products/anychart/docs/users-guide/DateTime-Axes.html I edited the XML and changed:

This will be a little bit lengthy answer, but I guess it will be easier to understand what I meant to say.
I created a table that contains values you used as a data source (just to make my life easier):
    SQL> alter session set nls_date_format = 'dd.mm.yyyy hh24:mi:ss';
    Session altered.
    SQL> select * from test;
    VALUE                    LABEL
    12.10.2010 09:03:45          0
    12.10.2010 10:03:45          1
    12.10.2010 11:03:45          2
    12.10.2010 11:33:45          1
    12.10.2010 12:03:45          0
    SQL> alter session set nls_date_format = 'hh24:mi';
Session altered. From now on, we'll see only hours and minutes.
Step 1: current and previous values - difference in number of MINUTES
    SQL> select t.value,
      2         lag(t.value) over (order by t.value) previous_value,
      3         (t.value - lag(t.value) over (order by t.value)) * 24 * 60 minutes_diff
      4  from test t;
    VALUE PREVI MINUTES_DIFF
    09:03
    10:03 09:03           60
    11:03 10:03           60
    11:33 11:03           30
    12:03 11:33           30Step 2: a little bit of calculation:
    - TIME_SPAN: how many minutes are there between MIN and MAX date?
    - MIN_DIFF: what is the minimum time difference (minutes)?
    - SLICES: how many time slices do we want on the x-axis?
    SQL> select
      2    min(x.value) min_val,
      3    max(x.value) max_val,
      4    min(x.minutes_diff) min_diff,
      5    (max(x.value) - min(x.value)) * 24 * 60 time_span,
      6    (max(x.value) - min(x.value)) * 24 * 60 / min(x.minutes_diff) slices
      7  from (select t.value,
      8               lag(t.value) over (order by t.value) previous_value,
      9               (t.value - lag(t.value) over (order by t.value)) * 24 * 60 minutes_diff
    10        from test t
    11       ) x;
    MIN_V MAX_V   MIN_DIFF  TIME_SPAN     SLICES
    09:03 12:03         30        180          6There's 180 minutes between 09:03 and 12:03; minimum time difference in our TEST table is 30 minutes, so - we want to have 6 time slices on the x-axis (180 / 30).
Step 3: row generator technique: let's create time values that are missing:
    SQL> select y.min_val + (level - 1) * y.min_diff / (24 * 60) val
      2  from (select
      3          min(x.value) min_val,
      4          max(x.value) max_val,
      5          min(x.minutes_diff) min_diff,
      6          (max(x.value) - min(x.value)) * 24 * 60 time_span,
      7          (max(x.value) - min(x.value)) * 24 * 60 / min(x.minutes_diff) slices
      8        from (select t.value,
      9                     lag(t.value) over (order by t.value) previous_value,
    10                     (t.value - lag(t.value) over (order by t.value)) * 24 * 60 minutes_diff
    11              from test t
    12             ) x
    13       ) y
    14  connect by level <= y.slices + 1;
    VAL
    09:03
    09:33
    10:03
    10:33
    11:03
    11:33
    12:03
7 rows selected.OK, now we have 30 minutes between every time value.
Step 4: join newly generated time values with the original table. Use OUTER JOIN; missing labels will be 0 (zero):
    SQL> select
      2    null link,
      3    to_char(z.val, 'hh24:mi') new_value,
      4    nvl(t1.label, 0) new_label
      5  from (select y.min_val + (level - 1) * y.min_diff / (24 * 60) val
      6        from (select
      7                min(x.value) min_val,
      8                max(x.value) max_val,
      9                min(x.minutes_diff) min_diff,
    10                (max(x.value) - min(x.value)) * 24 * 60 time_span,
    11                (max(x.value) - min(x.value)) * 24 * 60 / min(x.minutes_diff) slices
    12              from (select t.value,
    13                           lag(t.value) over (order by t.value) previous_value,
    14                           (t.value - lag(t.value) over (order by t.value)) * 24 * 60 minutes_diff
    15                    from test t
    16                   ) x
    17             ) y
    18        connect by level <= y.slices + 1
    19       ) z,
    20       test t1
    21  where t1.value (+) = z.val
    22  order by z.val;
    L NEW_V  NEW_LABEL
      09:03          0
      09:33          0
      10:03          1
      10:33          0
      11:03          2
      11:33          1
      12:03          0
7 rows selected.Cool, so we have them all. Now, go to Apex and create a chart using a query from step #4.
I tested it - it displays something which means that it should work for you too (unfortunately, this forum doesn't accept attachments so that you could see it). Now, I can't tell whether that's what you need or not, but - if the idea itself is OK, it can be adjusted (I hope so).

  • Problems with Value Labels in Stacked Bar Chart

    Post Author: RGR
    CA Forum: Charts and Graphs
When choosing a stacked bar chart to display the contribution of 2 values to the overall total, the graph plots correctly, but the value labels are incorrect.  Instead of labeling the values for A & B, the graph is appropriately labeled for A ,but the label for B is the total for A+B.  It should be just "B".
Has anyone else experienced this problem or has a solution.  I am using CR 2008

I have this issue a lot with CR XI.  As I have never used CR 2008, I am not sure of the commands.  But in CR XI, right click on the graph and select Chart Options.  On the Data Labels tab, at the bottom there are two options: Cumulative and Absolute.  It defaults to Cumulative, so change to Absolute.  That always works for me.

  • Dsiplay data values and data lables in a stacked column chart

    Hi All
Is there a way to display data values and data labels in a stacked column chart. Mouse over or display of labels in legends wont help. It has to be in the chart .
    Regards,
    anshul

    Hi Anshul,
You can display either data value or data label in a stacked column chart by checking the Data Label Displaying Mode option under Format Chart->Data Values.
You can also do the same by checking the same option under Format chart->Area Display->Data Values.
I dont think you would be able to display both in a column chart whereas you would be able to do it in a pie chart.
    Hope this helps.

  • Hide one row on Advanced List Pane based on field value

    Hello everyone,
I have a question for you:
Is it possible to hide one row on an Advanced List Pane based on the value of a field of that row?
    Here is the actual case:
I have a custom B.O. called "Product Group". This B.O. has an Internal ID and a Description at Root level.
In this B.O. I have a One-Too-Many node called "Descriptions".
On the T.I. of the Product Group there is a tab called "Other Languages". On this tab a user can provide translations for numerous languages for the Product Group Description.
When you create a new Product Group a translations is automatically added for the Current User Log On Language.
Now I want to hide that row in the Advanced List Pane and only show the translations where the "Target Language" is DIFFERENT from the Current User Log On Language.
So in the screenshot above you see we have 3 translations: "Bébé" (FR), "Baby" (EN) and "Bebé" (ES).
Now I want to hide the "Baby" (EN) translation if the Current User Log On Language is English, hide "Bébé" (FR) translation if the Current User Log On Language is French, etc. ...
The Advanced List Pane is currently bound to Descriptions node.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Glenn
