  • Dynamically fetch data from database and display it in the report

    Hi,
    We have a requirement in developing a report which needs us to dynamically fetch data from the database and display it in the report.
    We have a column called WORKER in the report.
    For each worker there is a measure(PSA) associated with it.
    In the report we have to display both the WORKER and the PSA column.
    What we want is, when we display the list of the workers, the corresponding workerid_id of the worker will be passed and the value of his PSA will be fetched from the database and displayed in the report.
    Or anything similar to this.
    We also have drill applied on this WORKER column. So after any drill up or drill down also the value for PSA should change.
    Is there any way of doing this?
    Please help if possible.

  • How to load PDF files into oracle database and display them in APEX

    Hi All,
    We have a requirement for loading the Loading PDF files (lots of PDf files) to the oracle database and then display the PDF files in the Oracel APEX report.
    So that User can view the PDF files. Our current APEX verison is 3.2..
    Please let me know how to implement it and where to find the sample application!
    Thanks in advanced!
    Jane

    Thanks Tony for your quick response!
    We need to load a lot of PDfs (history + current).
    I have a questions about the SQL loader. I am trying to insert a pdf file into a table by following the oracle loading sample:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/text.920/a96518/aload.htm
    Example Data File: loader2.dat
    This file contains the data to be loaded into each row of the table, articles_formatted.
    Each line contains a comma separated list of the fields to be loaded in articles_formatted. The last field of every line names the file to be loaded in to the text column:
    Ben Kanobi, plaintext,Kawasaki news article,../sample_docs/kawasaki.txt,
    But i don't know to where should I put my pdf file on the server.
    for example:
    ,../sample_docs/kawasaki.txt,
    Where is the file 'kawasaki.txt'??
    I try my local path, it didn't work. like c:\temp.
    then I loaded teh PDf file into our server(/findev20/olmtest/orafin/11.5.7/olmtestcomn/temp) , and In my data file. I put the path
    1, pdf_emp1,../findev20/olmtest/orafin/11.5.7/olmtestcomn/temp
    but I got the error: the system can not find the file specified.
    Where should I put the PDf files on the server and how to specify the path in the data file?
    Thanks!

  • How to sort data from database and display in combobox in required order

    Hi evrybody, it makes me sick i need to get data form database and fill combobox in required order (last item added to database - last firstName) actualy i already did that, but i'm useing DefaultComboBoxModel and all records are sorted in alphabetical order. Thanks very much for any help

    The items in the JComboBox are displayed in the order in which you add them to the combo box. Use an order by clause in your SQL statement.

  • Captute the check box and display

    hi,
    In a report program se38, with the output I've displayed the check boxes before every line item, I need to keep a check box in the header row and if I check this one all the check boxes of the line items must be checked and I need to capture the particular line items if checked manually and randomly.
    i did not use grid display its a simple display with write statements.
    (in short if the first(header) check box is checked need to check remaining and need to process the check box itmes if checked as above and manually)

  • Loading an Image from the database and display it on browser

    I do not know if this is even possible.
    At the moment, to load an image inside an Html page you need to use the <img src=""> tag. and in the src you put the path of the image. Now I would like to save an image inside the database.
    An option to still display the image on the browser would be that my service object, would load the object from the database (saved as blob) then save it somewhere on the Server, and the still use the <img> tag to load the image from that location.
    However I was wondering wheather there is another way to do it without saving this image on the server. that is loading the bytes from the database (or a location on the server) and provided these bytes to the jsp page to display the image.
    Is this possible? or?
    regards,
    sim085

    hmm ... ok .. that sounds good .. but that means that
    a servlet must exsist at all time to display the
    required image.Servlets are usually instantiated by the servlet container upon an incoming request.

  • Store UTF-8 in Database and Display in JSP(URGENT)

    Hi all,
    I am developing a software with unicode support, but I am in trouble with it.
    The System configuration is:
    OS: Windows2000 (English)
    Database: Oracle8i 8.1.7.0.1 (NLS_LANG = .UTF8)
    Application Server: Bea WebLogic Server 6.1
    My problem is:
    I have 3 JSP.
    The first one is a form for data input.
    The second one is validation. It displays the data user filled in first jsp.
    The third one is the result. It displays the data user filled in first jsp.
    The data will be packed into a value object and this value object will be set to session.
    The data of second jsp is got from the value object that is set in session.
    The data of third jsp is got from database. The data fetched from database will also be packed into
    a value object.
    When I input q(Big5) in the first JSP, the second JSP will display V(Big5),
    but the third JSP will be fine, it display q(Big5) correctly.
    (If the data of second JSP is got from request, the result is same.
    You may need to use Big5 Encoding to view this page if the characters do not display correctly.)
    The main problem is that if the data is got from database, it will be fine.
    But if it is got request or session, the result is incorrect.
    I would be appreciate if anyone can help me to solve this problem !
    Kammau

    If I add "<%@page contentType="text/html;charset=Big5" %>",
    I also need to add the following lines in web.xml
    <context-param>
    <param-name>weblogic.httpd.inputCharset./*</param-name>
    <param-value>UTF-8</param-value>
    </context-param>
    Then, it will be fine in the validate page(It is the second JSP).
    However, it will not display correctly in the third JSP that the data is got from database.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Checking value and displaying blank instead of null

    Hi,
    I was wondering how do I check in the code if the value is null then display a blank as suppose to displaying the word null??
    what I have now is:

    24 null
    want
    24
    I've tried:
    if ("".equals(string))

    if (string.equals(null))
    thanks,

    Use s == null to test if the String s is null, then if yes, replace it with the blank string "". See the code bellow:
    class MyString {

But when i created one applet and created instance of that class which was making connection to the database thru JDBC and called one method which was returning one value from the database , i was not able to get on the applet(in the text field) . It gave me some security exception saying acces is not allowed.
    Please give me the reason for this and send me reply back on this email id

  • How to get Date value from database and display them in a drop down list?

    Hello.
    In my Customers table, I have a column with Date data type. I want to create a form in JSP, where visitors can filter Customers list by year and month.
    All I know is this piece of SQL that is convert the date to the dd-mm-yyyy format:
    SELECT TO_CHAR(reg_date,'dd-mm-yyyy') from CustomersAny ideas of how this filtering possible? In my effort not to sound like a newbie wanting to be spoonfed, you can provide me link to external notes and resources, I'll really appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Rightbrainer.

    Hi
    What part is your biggest problem?? I am not experienced in getting data out of a database, but the way to get a variable amount of data to show in a drop down menu, i have just messed around with for some time and heres how i solved it... In my app, what i needed was, a initial empty drop down list, and then using input from a text-field, users could add elements to a Vector that was passed to a JComboBox. Heres how.
    package jcombobox;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import java.util.Vector;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class Main extends JApplet implements ActionListener {
        private Vector<SomeClass> list = new Vector<SomeClass>();
        private JComboBox dropDownList = new JComboBox(list);
        private JButton addButton = new JButton("add");
        private JButton remove = new JButton("remove");
        private JTextField input = new JTextField(10);
        private JPanel buttons = new JPanel();
        public Main() {
            addButton.addActionListener(this);
            remove.addActionListener(this);
            input.addActionListener(this);
            buttons.setLayout(new FlowLayout());
            buttons.add(addButton);
            buttons.add(remove);
            add(dropDownList, "North");
            add(input, "Center");
            add(buttons, "South");
        public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
            if (e.getSource() == addButton) {
                list.addElement(new SomeClass(input.getText()));
                input.setText("");
            } else if (e.getSource() == remove) {
                int selected = dropDownList.getSelectedIndex();
                dropDownList.removeItemAt(selected);
        public void init(String[] args) {
            setSize(400,300);
            getContentPane().setLayout(new BorderLayout());
            getContentPane().add(new Main());
    }And that "SomeClass" is show here
    package jcombobox;
    public class SomeClass {
        private String text;
        public SomeClass(String input) {
            text = input;
        public String toString() {
            return text;
    }One of the things i struggled a lot with was to get the dropdown menu to show some usefull result. If the list just contains class references it will show the memory code that points to that class. Thats where the toString cones in handy. But it took me some time to figure that one out, a laugh here is welcome as it should have been obvious :-)
    When the app is as simple as this one, using a <String> vector would have been easier, but this is just to demonstrate how to place classes in a vector and get some usefull info out of it, hope this answered some of your question :-)
    The layout might have been easier to write, than using the toppanel created by the JApplet and then the two additional JPanels, but it was just a small app brewed together in 15 minutes. Please comments on my faults, so that i can learn of it.
    If you need any of the code specified more, please let me know. Ill be glad to,
